Refinements of Van Hamme's (E.2) and (F.2) supercongruences and two supercongruences by Swisher
In 1997, Van Hamme proposed 13 supercongruences on truncated hypergeometric series. Van Hamme's (B.2) supercongruence was first confirmed by Mortenson and received a WZ proof by Zudilin later. In 2012, using the WZ method again, Sun extended Van Hamme's (B.2) supercongruence to the modulus $p^4$ case, where $p$ is an odd prime. In this paper, by using a more general WZ pair, we generalize Hamme's (E.2) and (F.2) supercongruences, as well as two supercongruences by Swisher, to the modulus $p^4$ case. Our generalizations of these supercongruences are related to Euler polynomials. We also put forward a relevant conjecture on $q$-congruences for further study.

Employing a quadratic transformation formula of Rahman and the method of `creative microscoping' (introduced by the author and Zudilin in 2019), we provide some new $q$-supercongruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series. In particular, we confirm two recent conjectures of Liu and Wang. We also propose some related conjectures on supercongruences and $q$-supercongruences.

We prove two supercongruences for specific truncated hypergeometric series. These include an uniparametric extension of a supercongruence that was recently established by Long and Ramakrishna. Our proofs involve special instances of various hypergeometric identities including Whipple's transformation and the Karlsson--Minton summation.

Let $E_n$ be the $n$-th Euler number and $(a)_n=a(a+1)\cdots (a+n-1)$ the rising factorial. Let $p>3$ be a prime. In 2012, Sun proved the that $$ \sum^{(p-1)/2}_{k=0}(-1)^k(4k+1)\frac{(\frac{1}{2})_k^3}{k!^3} \equiv p(-1)^{(p-1)/2}+p^3E_{p-3} \pmod{p^4}, $$ which is a refinement of a famous supercongruence of Van Hamme. In 2016, Chen, Xie, and He established the following result: $$ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}(-1)^k (3k+1)\frac{(\frac{1}{2})_k^3}{k!^3} 2^{3k} \equiv p(-1)^{(p-1)/2}+p^3E_{p-3} \pmod{p^4}, $$ which was originally conjectured by Sun. In this paper we give $q$-analogues of the above two supercongruences by employing the $q$-WZ method. As a conclusion, we provide a $q$-analogue of the following supercongruence of Sun: $$ \sum_{k=0}^{(p-1)/2}\frac{(\frac{1}{2})_k^2}{k!^2} \equiv (-1)^{(p-1)/2}+p^2 E_{p-3} \pmod{p^3}. $$

Using the $q$-Wilf--Zeilberger method and a $q$-analogue of a "divergent" Ramanujan-type supercongruence, we give several $q$-supercongruences modulo the fourth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. One of them is a $q$-analogue of a supercongruence recently proved by Wang: for any prime $p>3$, $$ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1} (3k-1)\frac{(\frac{1}{2})_k (-\frac{1}{2})_k^2 }{k!^3}4^k\equiv p-2p^3 \pmod{p^4}, $$ where $(a)_k=a(a+1)\cdots (a+k-1)$ is the Pochhammer symbol.
On a conjecture related to integer-valued polynomials
Using the following $_4F_3$ transformation formula $$ \sum_{k=0}^{n}{-x-1\choose k}^2{x\choose n-k}^2=\sum_{k=0}^{n}{n+k\choose 2k}{2k\choose k}^2{x+k\choose 2k}, $$ which can be proved by Zeilberger's algorithm, we confirm some special cases of a recent conjecture of Z.-W. Sun on integer-valued polynomials.

Using Watson's terminating $_8φ_7$ transformation formula, we prove a family of $q$-congruences modulo the square of a cyclotomic polynomial, which were originally conjectured by the author and Zudilin [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 475 (2019), 1636--646]. As an application, we deduce two supercongruences modulo $p^4$ ($p$ is an odd prime) and their $q$-analogues. This also partially confirms a special case of Swisher's (H.3) conjecture.

We develop an analytical method to prove congruences of the type $$ \sum_{k=0}^{(p^r-1)/d}A_kz^k \equiv ω(z)\sum_{k=0}^{(p^{r-1}-1)/d}A_kz^{pk} \pmod{p^{mr}\mathbb Z_p[[z]]} \quad \text{for}\; r=1,2,\dots, $$ for primes $p>2$ and fixed integers $m,d\ge1$, where $f(z)=\sum_{k=0}^\infty A_kz^k$ is an "arithmetic" hypergeometric series. Such congruences for $m=d=1$ were introduced by Dwork in 1969 as a tool for $p$-adic analytical continuation of $f(z)$. Our proofs of several Dwork-type congruences corresponding to $m\ge2$ (in other words, supercongruences) are based on constructing and proving their suitable $q$-analogues, which in turn have their own right for existence and potential for a $q$-deformation of modular forms and of cohomology groups of algebraic varieties. Our method follows the principles of creative microscoping introduced by us to tackle $r=1$ instances of such congruences; it is the first method capable of establishing the supercongruences of this type for general $r$.

Recently, Z.-W. Sun made the following conjecture: for any odd prime $p$ and odd integer $m$, $$ \frac{1}{m^2{m-1\choose (m-1)/2}}\Bigg(\sum_{k=0}^{(pm-1)/2}\frac{2k\choose k}{8^k} -\left(\frac{2}{p}\right)\sum_{k=0}^{(m-1)/2}\frac{2k\choose k}{8^k}\Bigg) \equiv 0\pmod{p^2}. $$ In this note, applying the "creative microscoping" method, introduced by the author and Zudilin, we confirm the above conjecture of Sun.

By applying Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials and the "creative microscoping" method recently introduced by the author and Zudilin, we establish parametric generalizations of three $q$-supercongruences modulo the fourth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. The original $q$-supercongruences then follow from these parametric generalizations by taking the limits as the parameter tends to $1$ (l'Hôpital's rule is utilized here). In particular, we prove a complete $q$-analogue of the (J.2) supercongruence of Van Hamme and a complete $q$-analogue of a "divergent" Ramanujan-type supercongruence, thus confirming two recent conjectures of the author. We also put forward some related conjectures, including a $q$-supercongruence modulo the fifth power of a cyclotomic polynomial.

We give a $q$-congruence whose specializations $q=-1$ and $q=1$ correspond to supercongruences (B.2) and (H.2) on Van Hamme's 1997 list: $$ \sum_{k=0}^{(p-1)/2}(-1)^k(4k+1)A_k\equiv p(-1)^{(p-1)/2}\pmod{p^3} \quad\text{and}\quad \sum_{k=0}^{(p-1)/2}A_k\equiv a(p)\pmod{p^2}, $$ where $p>2$ is prime, $$ A_k=\prod_{j=0}^{k-1}\biggl(\frac{1/2+j}{1+j}\biggr)^3=\frac1{2^{6k}}{\binom{2k}k}^3 \quad\text{for}\ k=0,1,2,\dots, $$ and $a(p)$ is the $p$-th coefficient of (the weight 3 modular form) $q\prod_{j=1}^\infty(1-q^{4j})^6$. We complement our result with a general common $q$-congruence for related hypergeometric sums.

In 1997, Van Hamme conjectured 13 Ramanujan-type supercongruences. All of the 13 supercongruences have been confirmed by using a wide range of methods. In 2015, Swisher conjectured Dwork-type supercongruences related to the first 12 supercongruences of Van Hamme. Here we prove that the (C.3) and (J.3) supercongruences of Swisher are true modulo $p^{3r}$ (the original modulus is $p^{4r}$) by establishing $q$-analogues of them. Our proof will use the creative microscoping method, recently introduced by the author in collaboration with Zudilin. We also raise conjectures on $q$-analogues of an equivalent form of the (M.2) supercongruence of Van Hamme, partially answering a question at the end of [Adv. Math. 346 (2019), 329--358].

We provide several new $q$-congruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series with the base being an even power of $q$. Our results mainly concern congruences modulo the square or the cube of a cyclotomic polynomial and complement corresponding ones of an earlier paper containing $q$-congruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series with the base being an odd power of $q$. We also give a number of related conjectures including $q$-congruences modulo the fifth power of a cyclotomic polynomial and a congruence for a truncated ordinary hypergeometric series modulo the seventh power of a prime greater than 3.
Some congruences related to a congruence of Van Hamme
We establish some supercongruences related to a supercongruence of Van Hamme, such as \begin{align*} \sum_{k=0}^{(p+1)/2} (-1)^k (4k-1)\frac{(-\frac{1}{2})_k^3}{k!^3} &\equiv p(-1)^{(p+1)/2}+p^3(2-E_{p-3})\pmod{p^{4}},\\ \sum_{k=0}^{(p+1)/2} (4k-1)^5 \frac{(-\frac{1}{2})_k^4}{k!^4} &\equiv 16p\pmod{p^{4}}, \end{align*} where $p$ is an odd prime and $E_{p-3}$ is the $(p-3)$-th Euler number. Our proof uses some congruences of Z.-W. Sun, the Wilf--Zeilberger method, Whipple's $_7F_6$ transformation, and the software package {\tt Sigma} developed by Schneider. We also put forward two related conjectures.

We provide several new $q$-congruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series, mostly of arbitrary order. Our results include congruences modulo the square or the cube of a cyclotomic polynomial, and in some instances, parametric generalizations thereof. These are established by a variety of techniques including polynomial argument, creative microscoping (a method recently introduced by the first author in collaboration with Zudilin), Andrews' multiseries generalization of the Watson transformation, and induction. We also give a number of related conjectures including congruences modulo the fourth power of a cyclotomic polynomial.
Factors of some truncated basic hypergeometric series
We prove that certain basic hypergeometric series truncated at $k=n-1$ have the factor $Φ_n(q)^2$, where $Φ_n(q)$ is the $n$-th cyclotomic polynomial. This confirms two recent conjectures of the author and Zudilin. We also put forward some conjectures on $q$-congruences modulo $Φ_n(q)^2$.

There are many instances known when the Fourier coefficients of modular forms are congruent to partial sums of hypergeometric series. In our previous work arXiv:1803.01830, such partial sums are related to the radial asymptotics of infinite $q$-hypergeometric sums at roots of unity. Here we combine the two features to construct a hypergeometric $q$-deformation of two CM modular forms of weight 3 and discuss the corresponding $q$-congruences.
Some $q$-supercongruences from transformation formulas for basic hypergeometric series
Several new $q$-supercongruences are obtained using transformation formulas for basic hypergeometric series, together with various techniques such as suitably combining terms, and creative microscoping, a method recently developed by the first author in collaboration with Wadim Zudilin. More concretely, the results in this paper include $q$-analogues of supercongruences (referring to $p$-adic identities remaining valid for some higher power of $p$) established by Long, by Long and Ramakrishna, and several other $q$-supercongruences. The six basic hypergeometric transformation formulas which are made use of are Watson's transformation, a quadratic transformation of Rahman, a cubic transformation of Gasper and Rahman, a quartic transformation of Gasper and Rahman, a double series transformation of Ismail, Rahman and Suslov, and a new transformation formula for a nonterminating very-well-poised ${}_{12}φ_{11}$ series. Also, the nonterminating $q$-Dixon summation formula is used. A special case of the new ${}_{12}φ_{11}$ transformation formula is further utilized to obtain a generalization of Rogers' linearization formula for the continuous $q$-ultraspherical polynomials.

Let $Φ_n(q)$ be the $n$-th cyclotomic polynomial in $q$. Recently, the author and Zudilin provide a creative microscoping method to prove some $q$-supercongruences mainly modulo $Φ_n(q)^3$ by introducing an additional parameter $a$. In this paper, we use this creative microscoping method to confirm some conjectures on $q$-supercongruences modulo $Φ_n(q)^2$. We also give some parameter-generalizations of known $q$-supercongruences. For instance, we present further generalizations of a $q$-analogue of a famous supercongruence of Rodriguez-Villegas: $$ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{{2k\choose k}^2}{16^k} \equiv (-1)^{(p-1)/2}\pmod{p^2}\quad\text{for any odd prime $p$.} $$
