Proofs of Some Kanade--Russell Mod 12 Conjectures
Kanade and Russell conjectured seventeen Rogers--Ramanujan type identities of modulus 12. Eleven of these identities involving triple sums were proved by Bringmann--Jennings-Shaffer--Mahlburg and by Rosengren. Motivated by these works and using similar methods, we settle all the six remaining conjectures including two triple sum identities labeled $I_{5a}$ and $I_{6a}$ originated from Russell's thesis and four quadruple sum identities labeled 7, 7a, 8 and 8a. Our proof of the triple sum identities combines linear recurrences, $q$-difference equations, and $q$-series summation formulas. For the quadruple sum identities, we represent the sums as contour integrals whose integrands are infinite products and evaluate them by residue calculus. The resulting residues reduce to single sum cubic basic hypergeometric series, and we are able to express them as infinite products.
Two $q$-Supercongruences Related to Double Sums
In this paper, by using $q$-identities and differential operator techniques, we establish two $q$-supercongruences modulo the square of a cyclotomic polynomial, which are associated with truncated double basic hypergeometric $q$-series.
Formalized $q$-series: The Rogers-Ramanujan Identities and Beyond
The theory of $q$-series and basic hypergeometric series plays a crucial role at the intersection of combinatorics, number theory, and representation theory. From the classical partition identities of Euler and Jacobi to modern developments in class field theory, vertex operator algebras, and the Monstrous Moonshine conjecture, $q$-series provide the analytic framework for a wide range of profound applications. In this paper, we discuss the formalization of this theory in the Lean proof assistant, a process that requires careful design of scalable and versatile structures to reconcile formal algebraic identities with analytic convergence properties. We address these foundational challenges by focusing on the construction of $q$-Pochhammer symbols, $q$-binomial coefficients, Bailey's Lemma and similar primitives. To demonstrate the utility of this work, we provide fully verified proofs of the Jacobi Triple Product formula and the celebrated Rogers-Ramanujan identities, which serve as both historical and technical benchmarks for the field. This work establishes a rigorous computational foundation for the future formalization of mock theta functions, modular forms, and the diverse algebraic structures that underpin their applications across mathematics and physics.
Separable integer partition classes and Slater's list -- II
Slater's list of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities remains a central source of striking series-product formulas in the theory of partitions and basic hypergeometric series. Although many of these identities admit elegant analytic proofs through Bailey pairs, Bailey chains, or transformations of basic hypergeometric series, the partition-theoretic meaning of their series sides is often much less apparent. In this paper, which continues the program initiated in arXiv:2603.14179, we apply Andrews' theory of separable integer partition classes to further identities from Slater's list. We construct a strict overpartition class and two families of overpartitions with positional gap conditions, in which overlining is permitted only at alternating positions. Their multivariate generating functions give natural refinements of the series sides of Slater's identities (12), (28), (29), (47), (48), (50), and (51). We then use Heine-type transformations, a limiting form of Heine's transformations, Watson's $q$-analogue of Whipple's theorem, and classical theta-product identities to obtain alternative series representations and recover the associated products. In addition, we derive a new companion identity to a Slater identity and a signed companion formula. Our results further demonstrate that SIP classes provide a flexible framework for converting basic hypergeometric series into structured partition generating functions, while simultaneously producing refinements, transformations, and new Rogers-Ramanujan type identities.
Power series for roots of a trinomial and Kummer-like identities for higher order hypergeometric series
We study the trinomial equation $x^n +px +q =0$. Here $p$ and $q$ are both real and nonzero. For $n\ge3$, expressions for the roots have been published as hypergeometric series in powers of the parameter $q^{n-1}/p^n$. For the special case of the cubic ($n=3$), we employ Kummer's identities to derive alternative series solutions in powers of the discriminant $D$, and also series in powers of $1/D$. We next derive new series, in powers of $D$ and also in powers of $1/D$, for all $n\ge 3$. The resulting series suggest identities analogous to Kummer's identities, for higher order hypergeometric series.
Theta functions and transformations of bilateral basic hypergeometric series
We establish new transformation formulas involving theta functions for certain bilateral basic hypergeometric series. From these, we construct companion $q$-series for a class of $q$-series such that the asymptotic expansion of their quotient admits a simple closed form. This allows us to prove some conjectures of McIntosh on asymptotic transformations of $q$-series.
On conjectural fermionic formulas for the Macdonald index in Argyres-Douglas theories
We prove a fermionic-bosonic duality relation for the Macdonald index in Argyres-Douglas theories of type $(A_1, D_{2k+1})$, thereby yielding a conjectural fermionic formula due to Andrews et al. Our duality is built upon a new conjugate Bailey pair to be established using techniques from orthogonal polynomials and basic hypergeometric series. In addition, this fermionic formula implies another sum-like expression for the Macdonald index conjectured by Kim, Kim, and Song.
The construction of $q$-analogues via $_3φ_2$-series and $q$-difference equations
We apply the EKHAD-normalization method given in our recent work to obtain, via the $q$-version of Zeilberger's algorithm, $q$-WZ pairs $(F, G)$ such that $\sum_{k = 0}^{\infty} F(0, k)$ may be expressed as a basic hypergeometric series of the form ${}_{3}φ_2$ with multiple free parameters, and in such a way so that $\sum_{k=0}^{\infty} F(0, k) = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} G(n, 0)$. In contrast to how previous applications of EKHAD-normalization relied on $q$-analogues for specific WZ pairs introduced by Guillera, our multiparameter approach provides a broad framework in the construction of $q$-analogues for accelerated series for universal constants such as $π$. We apply this multiparameter version of EKHAD-normalization to obtain and prove new $q$-analogues for accelerated hypergeometric series attributed to many authors, including (alphabetically) Adamchik and Wagon, Apéry, Chu, Chu and Zhang, Fabry, Guillera, Ramanujan, and Zeilberger.
Discovering hypergeometric series with harmonic numbers via Wilf-Zeilberger seeds
By extracting coefficients from Wilf-Zeilberger pairs with respect to auxiliary parameters, we discover many nontrivial hypergeometric series involving harmonic numbers. In particular, we obtain a rapidly convergent series for the depth-two multiple zeta value $ζ(5,3)$, which appears to be the first result of its kind in the literature. We also experiment with the Hilbert-Poincare series attached with a WZ-seed and conjecture that it admits a remarkably simple form, suggesting the presence of an underlying graded algebra structure behind WZ-seeds.
A $q$-Exponential Operator Based on the Derivative of Order 1 and Summation of Bilateral Basic Hypergeometric Series
We use a new $q$-exponential operator based on the $q^{\pm1}$-derivative $\D_{q^{\pm1}}$ of order 1 to derive summation formulas for bilateral basic hypergeometric series ${}_{0}ψ_{1}$, ${}_{1}ψ_{1}$, ${}_{1}ψ_{2}$, and ${}_{2}ψ_{2}$. In addition, we provide summation formulas for bilateral series whose terms are basic hypergeometric functions.
On Bilateral Multiple Sums and Rogers-Ramanujan Type Identities
We establish some new bilateral double-sum Rogers-Ramanujan identities involving parameters. As applications, these identities yield several new multi-sum Rogers-Ramanujan type identities. Our proofs utilize the theory of basic hypergeometric series in conjunction with the integral method.
A Characterization of Macdonald's Jack Hypergeometric Series ${}_pF_q(x;α)$ and ${}_pF_q(x,y;α)$ via Differential Equations
In a widely circulated manuscript from the 1980s, now available on the arXiv, I.~G.~Macdonald introduced certain multivariable hypergeometric series ${}_pF_q(x)= {}_pF_q(x;α)$ and ${}_pF_q(x,y)= {}_pF_q(x,y;α)$ in one and two sets of variables $x=(x_1,\dots x_n)$ and $y=(y_1,\dots y_n)$. These two series are defined by explicit expansions in terms of Jack polynomials $J^{(α)}_λ$, and for $α=2$ they specialize to the hypergeometric series of matrix arguments studied by Herz (1955) and Constantine (1963) that admit analogous expansions in terms of zonal polynomials.
In this paper we determine explicit partial differential equations that characterize ${}_pF_q$, thereby answering a question posed by Macdonald. More precisely, for each $n,p,q$ we construct three differential operators $\mathcal A=\mathcal A^{(x,y)}$, $\mathcal B=\mathcal B^{(x)}$, $\mathcal C=C^{(x)}$, and we show that ${}_pF_q(x,y)$ and ${}_pF_q(x)$ are the unique series solutions of the equations $\mathcal A(f)=0$ and $\mathcal C(f)=0$, respectively, subject to certain symmetry and boundary conditions. We also prove that the equation $\mathcal B(f)=0$ characterizes ${}_pF_q(x)$, but only after one restricts the domain of $\mathcal B$ to the set of series satisfying an additional stability condition with respect to $n$.
Special cases of the operators $\mathcal A$ and $\mathcal B$ have been constructed previously in the literature, but only for a small number of pairs $(p,q)$, namely for $p \leq 3$ and $q \leq 2$ in the zonal case by Muirhead (1970), Constantine--Muirhead (1972), and Fujikoshi (1975); and for $p \leq 2$ and $q \leq 1$ in the general Jack case by Macdonald (1980s), Yan (1992), Kaneko (1993), and Baker--Forrester (1997). However the operator $\mathcal C$ seems to be new even for these special cases.

In this paper, we generalize Andrews' partitions separated by parity to overpartitions in two ways. We investigate the generating functions for 16 overpartition families whose parts are separated by parity, and we prove various $q$-series identities for these functions. These identities include relations to modular forms, $q$-hypergeometric series, and mock modular forms.

The general problem of the factorization of a basic hypergeometric series is presented and discussed. The case of the general $_2ψ_2$ series is examined in detail. Connections are found with the theory of basic hypergeometric series on root systems. Alternative proofs of several well-known summation and transformation formulae, including Gustafson's generalization of Ramanujan's $_1ψ_1$ summation, are obtained incidentally.
Interesting Deformed $q$-Series Involving The Central Fibonomial Coefficient
In this paper, we will obtain a variety of interesting $q$-series containing central $q$-binomial coefficients. Our approach is based on manipulating deformed basic hypergeometric series.
New $q$-identities Via $q$-Derivative of Basic Hypergeometric Series with Respect to Parameters
In this paper, we use the effect of the $q$-differential and deformed $q$-exponential operators on basic hypergeometric series to find new $q$-identities from the $q$-Gauss sum, the $q$-Chu-Vandermonde's sum, and Jackson's transformation formula.
Expression of special stretched $9j$ coefficients in terms of $_5F_4$ hypergeometric series
The Clebsch-Gordan coefficients or Wigner $3j$ symbols are known to be proportional to a $_3F_2(1)$ hypergeometric series, and Racah $6j$ coefficients to a $_4F_3(1)$. In general, however, non-trivial $9j$ symbols can not be expressed as a $_5F_4$. In this letter, we show, using the Dougall-Ramanujan identity, that special stretched $9j$ symbols can be reformulated as $_5F_4(1)$ hypergeometric series.
Refinements of Van Hamme's (E.2) and (F.2) supercongruences and two supercongruences by Swisher
In 1997, Van Hamme proposed 13 supercongruences on truncated hypergeometric series. Van Hamme's (B.2) supercongruence was first confirmed by Mortenson and received a WZ proof by Zudilin later. In 2012, using the WZ method again, Sun extended Van Hamme's (B.2) supercongruence to the modulus $p^4$ case, where $p$ is an odd prime. In this paper, by using a more general WZ pair, we generalize Hamme's (E.2) and (F.2) supercongruences, as well as two supercongruences by Swisher, to the modulus $p^4$ case. Our generalizations of these supercongruences are related to Euler polynomials. We also put forward a relevant conjecture on $q$-congruences for further study.
A family of orthogonal functions on the unit circle and a new multilateral matrix inverse
Using Bailey's very-well-poised $_6ψ_6$ summation, we show that a specific sequence of well-poised bilateral basic hypergeometric $_3ψ_3$ series form a family of orthogonal functions on the unit circle. We further extract a bilateral matrix inverse from Dougall's ${}_2H_2$ summation which we use, in combination with the Pfaff--Saalschütz summation, to derive a summation for a particular bilateral hypergeometric $_3H_3$ series. We finally provide multivariate extensions of the bilateral matrix inverse and the $_3H_3$ summation in the setting of hypergeometric series associated to the root system $A_r$.
A Note on the Rogers-Szegö Polynomial $q$-Differential Operators
In this paper, we introduce the Rogers-Szegö deformed $q$-differential operators g$_{n}(bD_{q}|u)$ based on $q$-differential operator $D_{q}$. The motivation for introducing the operators g$_{n}(bD_{q})$ is that their limit turns out to be the $q$-exponential operator T$(bD_{q})$ given by Chen. The deformed homogeneous Al-Salam-Carlitz polynomials $Ψ_{m}^{(q^{-n})}(ub,x|uq^{-1})$ can easily be represented by using the operators g$_{n}(bD_{q}|u)$. Identities relating the new general Al-Salam-Carlitz polynomial, defined by Cao et al., the generalized, and homogeneous Al-Salam-Carlitz polynomials $Φ_{m}^{(q^n)}(b,x|q)$ and basic hypergeometric series are given.
