Combinatorial proof of identities involving partitions with distinct even parts and 4-regular partitions
Recently Andrews and Bachraoui proved identities relating certain restricted partitions into distinct even parts with restricted 4-regular partitions by the theory of basic hypergeometric series. They also posed a question regarding combinatorial proofs for these results. In this paper, we establish bijections to provide combinatorial proofs for these results.
Deformed Homogeneous Polynomials and the Generalized $q$-Exponential Operator
In this paper, we introduce the deformed homogeneous polynomials $\mathrm{R}_{n}(x,y;u|q)$. These polynomials generalize some classical polynomials: the Rogers-Szegö polynomials $\mathrm{h}_{n}(x|q)$, the generalized Rogers-Szegö polynomials $\mathrm{r}_{n}(x,y)$, the Stieltjes-Wigert polynomials $\mathrm{S}_{n}(x;q)$, among others. Basic properties of the polynomial $\mathrm{R}_{n}$ are given, along with recurrence relations, its $q$-difference equation, and representations. Generating functions for the polynomials $\mathrm{R}_{n}(x,y;u|q)$ are given. These functions include generalizations of the Mehler and Rogers formulas. In addition, generalizations of the $q$-binomial formula and the Heine transformation formula are obtained. These results are obtained via the $u$-deformed $q$-exponential operator $\mathrm{E}(yD_{q}|u)$, defined here. From this operator, we obtain for free the operators T$(yD_{q})$ the Chen, $\mathrm{R}(yD_{q})$ of Saad, $\mathcal{E}(yD_{q})$ of Exton, and $\mathcal{R}(yD_{q})$ of Rogers-Ramanujan when $u=1,q,\sqrt{q},q^2$, respectively. We introduce the deformed basic hypergeometric series ${}_{r}Φ_{s}$, a generalization of the classical basic hypergeometric series. New transformation formulas for basic hypergeometric series are obtained.
Generalizing the Index of the $u$-Deformed Homogeneous Polynomials and Generating Functions for $\mathrm{R}_{-n}(x,y;q|u)$
This paper introduces the $u$-deformed homogeneous functions $\mathrm{R}_α(x,y;u|q)$, for all $α\in\mathbb{C}$. Basic properties of the functions $\mathrm{R}_α(x,y;u|q)$ are given, along with recurrence relations, their $q$-difference equation, and representations. Generating functions for the functions $\mathrm{R}_{-n}(x,y;u|q)$ via the $u$-deformed $q$-exponential operator E$(qD_{q}|u)$, when $u=q^b,q^{b+1/2}$, $b\geq1$, are obtained. This allows us to obtain some $q^b$-series and $q^{b+1/2}$-series. Additionally, transformation formulas for basic hypergeometric series $_{1}φ_{1}$ and $_{1}φ_{2}$ are derived.
Some $q$-supercongruences for multiple basic hypergeometric series
In terms of several summation and transformation formulas for basic hypergeometric series, two forms of the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials, the creative microscoping method introduced by Guo and Zudilin, Guo and Li's lemma, and El Bachraoui's lemma, we establish some $q$-supercongruences for multiple basic hypergeometric series modulo the fifth and sixth powers of a cyclotomic polynomial. In detail, we generalize Guo and Li's two $q$-supercongruences for double basic hypergeometric series, which are related to $q$-analogues of Van Hamme's (C.2) supercongruence and Long's supercongruence, respectively. In addition, we also present two conclusions for double and triple hypergeometric series associated with Van Hamme's (D.2) supercongruence.

On the characterization of chordal graphs using Horn hypergeometric series
Radchenko and Villegas characterized the chordal graphs by the inverse of their independence polynomials being Horn hypergeometric series in Radchenko et al. in 2021. In this paper, we reprove their result using some elementary combinatorial methods. Our proof is different from their proof, and it is based on the connection between the inverse of the multi-variate independence polynomials and the multi-colored chromatic polynomials of graphs, established by Arunkumar et al. in 2018.
On two conjectural series involving Riemann zeta function
Riemann zeta function is important in a lot of branches of number theory. With the help of the operator method and several transformation formulas for hypergeometric series, we prove four series involving Riemann zeta function. Two of them are series expansions for $ζ(7)$ and $ζ(3)^2$ recently conjectured by Z.-W. Sun.
Proof of the Kresch-Tamvakis Conjecture
In this paper we resolve a conjecture of Kresch and Tamvakis. Our result is the following.
Theorem: For any positive integer $D$ and any integers $i,j$ $(0\leq i,j \leq D)$, the absolute value of the following hypergeometric series is at most 1: \begin{equation*}
{_4F_3} \left[ \begin{array}{c} -i, \; i+1, \; -j, \; j+1 \\ 1, \; D+2, \; -D \end{array} ; 1 \right].
\end{equation*}
To prove this theorem, we use the Biedenharn-Elliott identity, the theory of Leonard pairs, and the Perron-Frobenius theorem.

Ordering identities in the Weyl-Heisenberg algebra generated by single-mode boson operators are investigated. A boson string composed of creation and annihilation operators can be expanded as a linear combination of other such strings, the simplest example being a normal ordering. The case when each string contains only one annihilation operator is already combinatorially nontrivial. Two kinds of expansion are derived: (i) that of a power of a string $Ω$ in lower powers of another string $Ω'$, and (ii) that of a power of $Ω$ in twisted versions of the same power of $Ω'$. The expansion coefficients are shown to be, respectively, generalized Stirling numbers of Hsu and Shiue, and certain generalized Eulerian numbers. Many examples are given. These combinatorial numbers are binomial transforms of each other, and their theory is developed, emphasizing schemes for computing them: summation formulas, Graham-Knuth-Patashnik (GKP) triangular recurrences, terminating hypergeometric series, and closed-form expressions. The results on the first type of expansion subsume a number of previous results on the normal ordering of boson strings.
On some conjectural series containing harmonic numbers of 3-order
Harmonic numbers are important in a lot of branches of number theory. By means of the derivative operator, the integral operator, and several summation and transformation formulas for hypergeometric series, we prove four series containing harmonic numbers of 3-order. Three of them are conjectures which were recently proposed by Z.-W. Sun.

The central object of study in this paper are infinite banded Hessenberg matrices admitting factorisations as products of bidiagonal matrices. In the two main novel results of this paper, we show that these Hessenberg matrices are associated with the decomposition of $(r+1)$-fold symmetric $r$-orthogonal polynomials and are the production matrices of the generating polynomials of $r$-Dyck paths.
We combine the aforementioned bidiagonal matrix factorisations and the recently found connection of multiple orthogonal polynomials with lattice paths and branched continued fractions to study $(r+1)$-fold symmetric $r$-orthogonal polynomials on a star-like set of the complex plane and their decomposition via multiple orthogonal polynomials on the positive real line. As an explicit example, we give formulas as terminating hypergeometric series for the Appell sequences of $(r+1)$-fold symmetric $r$-orthogonal polynomials on a star-like set and show that the densities of their orthogonality measures can be expressed via Meijer G-functions on the positive real line.
Expansions of averaged truncations of basic hypergeometric series
Motivated by recent work of George Andrews and Mircea Merca on the expansion of the quotient of the truncation of Euler's pentagonal number series by the complete series, we provide similar expansion results for averages involving truncations of selected, more general, basic hypergeometric series. In particular, our expansions include new results for averaged truncations of the series appearing in the Jacobi triple product identity, the $q$-Gauß summation, and the very-well-poised ${}_5φ_5$ summation. We show how special cases of our expansions can be used to recover various existing results. In addition, we establish new inequalities, such as one for a refinement of the number of partitions into three different colors.
Two supercongruences involving truncated hypergeometric series
In this paper, we mainly establish two supercongruences involving truncated hypergeometric series by using some hypergeometric transformation formulas. The first supercongruence confirms a recent conjecture of the second author. The second supercongruence confirms a conjecture of Guo, Liu and Schlosser partially, and gives a parametric extension of a supercongruence of Long and Ramakrishna.
On some conjectural series containing binomial coefficients and harmonic numbers
Binomial coefficients and harmonic numbers are important in many branches of number theory. With the help of the operator method and several summation and transformation formulas for hypergeometric series, we prove eight conjectural series of Z.-W. Sun containing binomial coefficients and harmonic numbers in this paper.
Asymptotics of parity biases for partitions into distinct parts via Nahm sums
For a random partition, one of the most basic questions is: what can one expect about the parts which arise? For example, what is the distribution of the parts of random partitions modulo $N$? Since most partitions contain a $1$, and indeed many $1$s arise as parts of a random partition, it is natural to expect a skew towards $1\pmod{N}$. This is indeed the case. For instance, Kim, Kim, and Lovejoy recently established ``parity biases'' showing how often one expects partitions to have more odd than even parts. Here, we generalize their work to give asymptotics for biases $\mod N$ for partitions into distinct parts. The proofs rely on the Circle Method and give independently useful techniques for analyzing the asymptotics of Nahm-type $q$-hypergeometric series.
The sum of all width-one matrices
A nonnegative integer matrix is said to be width-one if its nonzero entries lie along a path consisting of steps to the south and to the east. These matrices are important in optimal transport theory: the northwest corner algorithm, for example, takes supply and demand vectors and outputs a width-one matrix. The problem in this paper is to write down an explicit formula for the sum of all width-one matrices (with given dimensions $n \times n$ and given sum $d$ of the entries). We prove two strikingly different formulas. The first, a ${}_4 F_3$ hypergeometric series with unit argument, is obtained by applying the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence to the width-one matrices; the second is obtained via Stanley-Reisner theory. Computationally, our two formulas are complementary to each other: the first formula outperforms the second if $d$ is fixed and $n$ increases, while the second outperforms the first if $n$ is fixed and $d$ increases. We also show how our result yields a new non-recursive formula for the mean value of the discrete earth mover's distance (i.e., the solution to the transportation problem), whenever the cost matrix has the Monge property.
Some double series for $π$ and their $q$-analogues
By applying the partial derivative operator to several summation formulas for hypergeometric series, we prove several double series for $π$ in this paper. Similarly, we also establish several $q$-analogues of them.
Linked partition ideals and a family of quadruple summations
Recently, $4$-regular partitions into distinct parts are connected with a family of overpartitions. In this paper, we provide a uniform extension of two relations due to Andrews for the two types of partitions. Such an extension is made possible with recourse to a new trivariate Rogers--Ramanujan type identity, which concerns a family of quadruple summations appearing as generating functions for the aforementioned overpartitions. More interestingly, the derivation of this Rogers--Ramanujan type identity is relevant to a certain well-poised basic hypergeometric series.
A non-constructive proof of the Four Colour Theorem
The approach is through a singularity analysis of generating functions for 3- and 4-connected triangulations, asymptotic analysis, properties of the ${{}_3F_2}$ hypergeometric series, and Tutte's enumerative work on planar maps and chromatic polynomials.

Let $r\geq 1$ be a positive integer, $A$ a real positive semi-definite symmetric $r\times r$ rational matrix, $B$ a rational vector of length $r$, and $C$ a rational scalar. Nahm's problem is to find all triples $(A,B,C)$ such that the $r$-fold $q$-hypergeometric series $$f_{A,B,C}(q):=\sum_{n=(n_1,\dots,n_r)^\mathrm{T}\in (\mathbb{Z}_{\geq 0})^r} \frac{q^{\frac{1}{2}n^\mathrm{T} An+n^\mathrm{T} B+C}}{(q;q)_{n_1}\cdots (q;q)_{n_r}}$$ becomes a modular form, and we call such $(A,B,C)$ a modular triple. When the rank $r=3$, after extensive computer searches, Zagier provided twelve sets of conjectural modular triples and proved three of them. We prove a number of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities involving triple sums. These identities give modular form representations for and thereby verify all of Zagier's rank three examples. In particular, we prove a conjectural identity of Zagier.
