On the classification of regular graphs with positive Lin-Lu-Yau curvature
We prove several new structural and classification results about $d$-regular graphs with positive Lin--Lu--Yau (LLY) curvature. We show that any positively curved $d$-regular graph has diameter at most $2d-2$, which improves the previously best known diameter bound obtained from the Bonnet-Myers-type theorem for positively curved graphs. We further show that every positively curved $d$-regular graph with $d\ge 3$ is $3$-connected. We classify all positively curved $3$-regular graphs, as well as all positively curved regular planar graphs.
Improved bounds on the oriented diameter of planar triangulations
The oriented diameter of a connected bridgeless graph $G$, denoted by $\overrightarrow{\operatorname{diam}}(G)$, is the minimum diameter among all strong orientations of $G$. We study the oriented diameter of planar triangulations, and show that $\overrightarrow{\operatorname{diam}}(G)\leq \frac{2n+44}{5}$ for any $n$-vertex planar triangulation $G$. This improves the leading constant in the previous best general upper bound $\lceil \frac{n}{2}\rceil$, due to Ge, Liu, and Wang, from $1/2$ to $2/5$. We also prove that every $n$-vertex $4$-connected planar triangulation satisfies $\overrightarrow{\operatorname{diam}}(G)\leq \frac{n+17}{3}$.
Rainbow planar Tur{á}n numbers of cycles
The rainbow Tur{á}n number of a fixed graph $H$, denoted by ${\text{ex}}^*(n,H)$, is the maximum number of edges in an $n$-vertex graph such that it admits a proper edge coloring with no rainbow $H$. We study this problem in planar setting. The rainbow planar Tur{á}n number of a graph $H$, denoted by ${\text{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}}^*(n,H)$, is the maximum number of edges in an $n$-vertex planar graph such that it has a proper edge coloring with no rainbow $H$. We consider the rainbow planar Tur{á}n number of cycles. Since $C_3$ is complete, ${\text{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}}^*(n, C_3)$ is exactly its planar Tur{á}n number, which is $2n-4$ for $n\ge 3$. We show that ${\text{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}}^*(n, C_4)=3n-6$ for $n=k^2-3k+2$ where $k\ge 5$, and ${\text{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}}^*(n,C_k)=3n-6$ for all $k\ge 5$ and $n\ge 3$.
Counting $k$-cycles in $5$-connected planar triangulations
We show that every $n$-vertex $5$-connected planar triangulation has at most $9n-50$ many cycles of length $5$ for all $n\ge 20$ and this upper bound is tight. We also show that for every $k\geq 6$, there exists some constant $C(k)$ such that for sufficiently large $n$, every $n$-vertex $5$-connected planar graph has at most $C(k) \cdot n^{\lfloor{k/3}\rfloor}$ many cycles of length $k$. This upper bound is asymptotically tight for all $k\geq 6$.
On the size of outerplanar graphs with positive Lin-Lu-Yau Ricci curvature
In this paper, extending a result of Brooks et.al. [arXiv:2403.04110], we show that if an outerplanar graph $G$ with minimum degree at least $2$ has positive Lin-Lu-Yau curvature on every vertex pair, then $G$ has at most $10$ vertices, and this upper bound is sharp.
On tight $(k,\ell)$-stable graphs
For integers $k>\ell\ge0$, a graph $G$ is $(k,\ell)$-stable if $α(G-S)\geq α(G)-\ell$ for every $S\subseteq V(G)$ with $|S|=k$. A recent result of Dong and Wu [SIAM J. Discrete Math., 36 (2022) 229--240] shows that every $(k,\ell)$-stable graph $G$ satisfies $α(G) \le \lfloor ({|V(G)|-k+1})/{2}\rfloor+\ell$. A $(k,\ell)$-stable graph $G$ is tight if $α(G) = \lfloor ({|V(G)|-k+1})/{2}\rfloor+\ell$; and $q$-tight for some integer $q\ge0$ if $α(G) = \lfloor ({|V(G)|-k+1})/{2}\rfloor+\ell-q$. In this paper, we first prove that for all $k\geq 24$, the only tight $(k, 0)$-stable graphs are $K_{k+1}$ and $K_{k+2}$, answering a question of Dong and Luo [arXiv: 2401.16639]. We then prove that for all nonnegative integers $k, \ell, q$ with $k\geq 3\ell+3$, every $q$-tight $(k,\ell)$-stable graph has at most $k-3\ell-3+2^{3(\ell+2q+4)^2}$ vertices, answering a question of Dong and Luo in the negative.

In this paper, we prove that any simple $\{C_3,C_5\}$-free non-empty connected graph $G$ with LLY curvature bounded below by $κ>0$ has the order at most $2^{\frac{2}κ}$. This upper bound is achieved if and only if $G$ is a hypercube $Q_d$ and $κ=\frac{2}{d}$ for some integer $d\geq 1$.
On the oriented diameter of near planar triangulations
In this paper, we show that the oriented diameter of any $n$-vertex $2$-connected near triangulation is at most $\lceil{\frac{n}{2}}\rceil$ (except for seven small exceptions), and the upper bound is tight. This extends a result of Wang et.al. on the oriented diameter of maximal outerplanar graphs, and improves an upper bound of $n/2+O(\sqrt{n})$ on the oriented diameter of planar triangulations by Mondal, Parthiban and Rajasingh.
Reconstruction and Edge Reconstruction of Triangle-free Graphs

The Reconstruction Conjecture due to Kelly and Ulam states that every graph with at least 3 vertices is uniquely determined by its multiset of subgraphs $\{G-v: v\in V(G)\}$. Let $diam(G)$ and $κ(G)$ denote the diameter and the connectivity of a graph $G$, respectively, and let $\mathcal{G}_2:=\{G: \textrm{diam}(G)=2\}$ and $\mathcal{G}_3:=\{G:\textrm{diam}(G)=\textrm{diam}(\overline{G})=3\}$. It is known that the Reconstruction Conjecture is true if and only if it is true for every 2-connected graph in $\mathcal{G}_2\cup \mathcal{G}_3$. Balakumar and Monikandan showed that the Reconstruction Conjecture holds for every triangle-free graph $G$ in $\mathcal{G}_2\cup \mathcal{G}_3$ with $κ(G)=2$. Moreover, they asked whether the result still holds if $κ(G)\ge 3$. (If yes, the class of graphs critical for solving the Reconstruction Conjecture is restricted to 2-connected graphs in $\mathcal{G}_2\cup\mathcal{G}_3$ which contain triangles.) In this paper, we give a partial solution to their question by showing that the Reconstruction Conjecture holds for every triangle-free graph $G$ in $\mathcal{G}_3$ and every triangle-free graph $G$ in $\mathcal{G}_2$ with $κ(G)=3$. We also prove similar results about the Edge Reconstruction Conjecture.

The planar Turan number $\textrm{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}(C_{\ell},n)$ is the largest number of edges in an $n$-vertex planar graph with no $\ell$-cycle. For $\ell\in \{3,4,5,6\}$, upper bounds on $\textrm{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}(C_{\ell},n)$ are known that hold with equality infinitely often. Ghosh, Györi, Martin, Paulo, and Xiao [arxiv:2004.14094] conjectured an upper bound on $\textrm{ex}_{\mathcal{P}}(C_{\ell},n)$ for every $\ell\ge 7$ and $n$ sufficiently large. We disprove this conjecture for every $\ell\ge 11$. We also propose two revised versions of the conjecture.

For any positive integer $t$, a \emph{$t$-broom} is a graph obtained from $K_{1,t+1}$ by subdividing an edge once. In this paper, we show that, for graphs $G$ without induced $t$-brooms, we have $χ(G) = o(ω(G)^{t+1})$, where $χ(G)$ and $ω(G)$ are the chromatic number and clique number of $G$, respectively. When $t=2$, this answers a question of Schiermeyer and Randerath. Moreover, for $t=2$, we strengthen the bound on $χ(G)$ to $7ω(G)^2$, confirming a conjecture of Sivaraman. For $t\geq 3$ and \{$t$-broom, $K_{t,t}$\}-free graphs, we improve the bound to $o(ω^{t})$.

Hakimi, Schmeichel, and Thomassen in 1979 conjectured that every $4$-connected planar triangulation $G$ on $n$ vertices has at least $2(n-2)(n-4)$ Hamiltonian cycles, with equality if and only if $G$ is a double wheel. In this paper, we show that every $4$-connected planar triangulation on $n$ vertices has $Ω(n^2)$ Hamiltonian cycles. Moreover, we show that if $G$ is a $4$-connected planar triangulation on $n$ vertices and the distance between any two vertices of degree $4$ in $G$ is at least $3$, then $G$ has $2^{Ω(n^{1/4})}$ Hamiltonian cycles.

Whitney proved in 1931 that 4-connected planar triangulations are Hamiltonian. Hakimi, Schmeichel, and Thomassen conjectured in 1979 that if $G$ is a 4-connected planar triangulation with $n$ vertices then $G$ contains at least $2(n-2)(n-4)$ Hamiltonian cycles, with equality if and only if $G$ is a double wheel. On the other hand, a recent result of Alahmadi, Aldred, and Thomassen states that there are exponentially many Hamiltonian cycles in 5-connected planar triangulations. In this paper, we consider 4-connected planar $n$-vertex triangulations $G$ that do not have too many separating 4-cycles or have minimum degree 5. We show that if $G$ has $O(n/{\log}_2 n)$ separating 4-cycles then $G$ has $Ω(n^2)$ Hamiltonian cycles, and if $δ(G)\ge 5$ then $G$ has $2^{Ω(n^{1/4})}$ Hamiltonian cycles. Both results improve previous work. Moreover, the proofs involve a "double wheel" structure, providing further evidence to the above conjecture.

In 1999, Katona and Kierstead conjectured that if a $k$-uniform hypergraph $\cal H$ on $n$ vertices has minimum co-degree $\lfloor \frac{n-k+3}{2}\rfloor$, i.e., each set of $k-1$ vertices is contained in at least $\lfloor \frac{n-k+3}{2}\rfloor$ edges, then it has a Hamiltonian cycle. Rödl, Ruciński and Szemerédi in 2011 proved that the conjecture is true when $k=3$ and $n$ is large. We show that this Katona-Kierstead conjecture holds if $k=4$, $n$ is large, and $V({\cal H})$ has a partition $A$, $B$ such that $|A|=\lceil n/2\rceil$, $|\{e\in E({\cal H}):|e \cap A|=2\}| <εn^4$ for a fixed small constant $ε>0$.
