Signed list edge coloring in graphs of bounded treewidth
Vizing conjectured that the list edge chromatic number of any graph with maximum degree $Δ$ is at most $Δ+ 1$. This conjecture has been confirmed for several important classes of graphs, in particular, Lang proved that it holds for all graphs of treewidth $3$. In this paper, we introduce the list edge coloring of signed graphs, a framework that generalizes both classical list edge coloring and the signed edge coloring introduced by Behr. We extend Lang's result by proving the signed analogue of Vizing's conjecture for all signed graphs of treewidth $3$, as well as for signed graphs of treewidth $4$ with maximum degree $Δ\ge 10$.

Signed circuit $6$-covers of signed $K_4$-minor-free graphs
Bermond, Jackson and Jaeger [{\em J. Combin. Theory Ser. B} 35 (1983): 297-308] proved that every bridgeless ordinary graph $G$ has a circuit $4$-cover and Fan [{\em J. Combin. Theory Ser. B} 54 (1992): 113-122] showed that $G$ has a circuit $6$-cover which together implies that $G$ has a circuit $k$-cover for every even integer $k\ge 4$. The only left case when $k = 2$ is the well-know circuit double cover conjecture. For signed circuit $k$-cover of signed graphs, it is known that for every integer $k\leq 5$, there are infinitely many coverable signed graphs without signed circuit $k$-cover and there are signed eulerian graphs that admit nowhere-zero $2$-flow but don't admit a signed circuit $1$-cover. Fan conjectured that every coverable signed graph has a signed circuit $6$-cover. This conjecture was verified only for signed eulerian graphs and for signed graphs whose bridgeless-blocks are eulerian. In this paper, we prove that this conjecture holds for signed $K_4$-minor-free graphs. The $6$-cover is best possible for signed $K_4$-minor-free graphs.
Flows on signed graphs without long barbells

Many basic properties in Tutte's flow theory for unsigned graphs do not have their counterparts for signed graphs. However, signed graphs without long barbells in many ways behave like unsigned graphs from the point view of flows. In this paper, we study whether some basic properties in Tutte's flow theory remain valid for this family of signed graphs. Specifically let $(G,σ)$ be a flow-admissible signed graph without long barbells. We show that it admits a nowhere-zero $6$-flow and that it admits a nowhere-zero modulo $k$-flow if and only if it admits a nowhere-zero integer $k$-flow for each integer $k\geq 3$ and $k \not = 4$. We also show that each nowhere-zero positive integer $k$-flow of $(G,σ)$ can be expressed as the sum of some $2$-flows. For general graphs, we show that every nowhere-zero $\frac{p}{q}$-flow can be normalized in such a way, that each flow value is a multiple of $\frac{1}{2q}$. As a consequence we prove the equality of the integer flow number and the ceiling of the circular flow number for flow-admissible signed graphs without long barbells.
Flows on flow-admissible signed graphs

In 1983, Bouchet proposed a conjecture that every flow-admissible signed graph admits a nowhere-zero $6$-flow. Bouchet himself proved that such signed graphs admit nowhere-zero $216$-flows and Zyka further proved that such signed graphs admit nowhere-zero $30$-flows. In this paper we show that every flow-admissible signed graph admits a nowhere-zero 11-flow.

Signed graphs: from modulo flows to integer-valued flows
Published • View PublicationBIB
Converting modulo flows into integer-valued flows is one of the most critical steps in the study of integer flows. Tutte and Jaeger's pioneering work shows the equivalence of modulo flows and integer-valued flows for ordinary graphs. However, such equivalence does not hold any more for signed graphs. This motivates us to study how to convert modulo flows into integer-valued flows for signed graphs. In this paper, we generalize some early results by Xu and Zhang (Discrete Math.~299, 2005), Schubert and Steffen (European J. Combin.~48, 2015), and Zhu (J. Combin. Theory Ser. B~112, 2015), and show that, for signed graphs, every modulo $(2+\frac{1}{p})$-flow with $p \in {\mathbb Z}^+ \cup \{\infty\}$ can be converted/extended into an integer-valued flow.

Shortest circuit covers of signed graphs

A shortest circuit cover ${\cal F}$ of a bridgeless graph $G$ is a family of circuits that covers every edge of $G$ and is of minimum total length. The total length of a shortest circuit cover ${\cal F}$ of $G$ is denoted by $SCC(G)$. For ordinary graphs (graphs without sign), the subject of shortest circuit cover is closely related to some mainstream areas, such as, Tutte's integer flow theory, circuit double cover conjecture, Fulkerson conjecture, and others. For signed graphs $G$, it is proved recently by Máčajová, Raspaud, Rollová and Škoviera that $SCC(G) \leq 11|E|$ if $G$ is s-bridgeless, and $SCC(G) \leq 9|E|$ if $G$ is $2$-edge-connected. In this paper this result is improved as follows, $$SCC(G) ~ \leq ~ |E| + 3|V| +z$$ where $z ~=~ \min \{ \frac{2}{3}|E|+\frac{4}{3}ε_N-7,~ |V| + 2ε_N -8\}$ and $ε_N$ is the negativeness of $G$. The above upper bound can be further reduced if $G$ is $2$-edge-connected with even negativeness.

Trees with Maximum p-Reinforcement Number
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph and $p$ a positive integer. The $p$-domination number $\g_p(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of a set $D\subseteq V$ with $|N_G(x)\cap D|\geq p$ for all $x\in V\setminus D$. The $p$-reinforcement number $r_p(G)$ is the smallest number of edges whose addition to $G$ results in a graph $G'$ with $\g_p(G')<\g_p(G)$. Recently, it was proved by Lu et al. that $r_p(T)\leq p+1$ for a tree $T$ and $p\geq 2$. In this paper, we characterize all trees attaining this upper bound for $p\geq 3$.

The p-Domination Number of Complete Multipartite Graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph and $p$ a positive integer. A subset $S\subseteq V$ is called a $p$-dominating set of $G$ if every vertex not in $S$ has at least $p$ neighbors in $S$. The $p$-domination number is the minimum cardinality of a $p$-dominating set in $G$. In this paper, we establish an exact formula of the $p$-domination number of all complete multipartite graphs for arbitrary positive integer $p$.

The 2-Domination and 2-Bondage Numbers of Grid Graphs
Let $p$ be a positive integer and $G=(V,E)$ be a simple graph. A subset $D\subseteq V$ is a $p$-dominating set if each vertex not in $D$ has at least $p$ neighbors in $D$. The $p$-domination number $\g_p(G)$ is the minimum cardinality among all $p$-dominating sets of $G$. The $p$-bondage number $b_p(G)$ is the cardinality of a smallest set of edges whose removal from $G$ results in a graph with a $p$-domination number greater than the $p$-domination number of $G$. In this note we determine the 2-domination number $\g_2$ and 2-bondage number $b_2$ for the grid graphs $G_{m,n}=P_m\times P_n$ for $2\leq m\leq 4$.

On the p-reinforcement and the complexity

Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph and $p$ be a positive integer. A subset $S\subseteq V$ is called a $p$-dominating set if each vertex not in $S$ has at least $p$ neighbors in $S$. The $p$-domination number $\g_p(G)$ is the size of a smallest $p$-dominating set of $G$. The $p$-reinforcement number $r_p(G)$ is the smallest number of edges whose addition to $G$ results in a graph $G'$ with $\g_p(G')<\g_p(G)$. In this paper, we give an original study on the $p$-reinforcement, determine $r_p(G)$ for some graphs such as paths, cycles and complete $t$-partite graphs, and establish some upper bounds of $r_p(G)$. In particular, we show that the decision problem on $r_p(G)$ is NP-hard for a general graph $G$ and a fixed integer $p\geq 2$.

The total bondage number of grid graphs
Published • View PublicationBIB
The total domination number of a graph $G$ without isolated vertices is the minimum number of vertices that dominate all vertices in $G$. The total bondage number $b_t(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum number of edges whose removal enlarges the total domination number. This paper considers grid graphs. An $(n,m)$-grid graph $G_{n,m}$ is defined as the cartesian product of two paths $P_n$ and $P_m$. This paper determines the exact values of $b_t(G_{n,2})$ and $b_t(G_{n,3})$, and establishes some upper bounds of $b_t(G_{n,4})$.
