On the automorphism group of direct product of digraphs
Determining the conditions under which the direct product of graphs $G$ and $H$ satisfies $\mathrm{Aut}(G\times H)=\mathrm{Aut}(G)\times\mathrm{Aut}(H)$ has been a problem of considerable interest since Sabidussi's classic work in the 1950s. We call such a pair $(G,H)$ stable, and unstable otherwise. Although much progress has been made for graph pairs, the general digraph case has remained completely open. In this paper, we initiate the study of the stability of digraph pairs, and then focus on the stability of a single digraph $G$. This is defined as the stability of the pair $(G,K_2)$ and has been studied extensively when $G$ is undirected. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for a connected digraph to be unstable, and use it to derive four sufficient conditions for circulant digraphs to be unstable. Moreover, we prove the nonexistence of nontrivially unstable finite arc-transitive circulant digraphs and nontrivially unstable Cayley digraphs of abelian groups of odd order.
Maximum spectral gap of regular graphs with bounded essential edge-connectivity
An edge-cut of a graph is said to be essential if its removal results in a graph with at least two non-trivial components. The essential edge-connectivity of a graph $G$ is the minimum cardinality among all essential edge-cuts of $G$. The spectral gap of $G$ is the difference between its largest and second largest eigenvalues. In this paper, we prove that for any integers $t$ and $r$ with $6\leq r\leq t\leq 2r-3$, the maximum spectral gap among all connected $r$-regular graphs with essential edge-connectivity at most $t$ is equal to $\frac{1}{2}(r+7-\sqrt{(r+7)^2-8t-32})$ when $t-r$ is odd and $\frac{1}{2}(r+6-\sqrt{(r+6)^2-8t-32})$ when $t-r$ is even. We construct a family of connected $r$-regular graphs achieving these bounds.
Vertex-primitive $s$-arc-transitive Cayley digraphs
Determining an upper bound on $s$ for vertex-primitive $s$-arc-transitive digraphs has been an open problem of considerable interest since a question asked by Praeger in 1990. Although much progress has been made and an upper bound is conjectured to be $2$, a complete classification for $s=2$ remains out of reach. In this paper, we prove that the tight upper bound on $s$ for finite vertex-primitive $s$-arc-transitive Cayley digraphs is exactly $2$. Furthermore, we completely characterize the structure of these digraphs when $s=2$.
Extremal spectral radius and $g$-good $r$-component connectivity
For $F\subseteq V(G)$, if $G-F$ is a disconnected graph with at least $r$ components and each vertex $v\in V(G)\backslash F$ has at least $g$ neighbors, then $F$ is called a $g$-good $r$-component cut of $G$. The $g$-good $r$-component connectivity of $G$, denoted by $cκ_{g,r}(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of $g$-good $r$-component cuts of $G$. Let $\mathcal{G}_n^{k,δ}$ be the set of graphs of order $n$ with minimum degree $δ$ and $g$-good $r$-component connectivity $cκ_{g,r}(G)=k$. In the paper, we determine the extremal graphs attaining the maximum spectral radii among all graphs in $\mathcal{G}_n^{k,δ}$. A subset $F\subseteq V(G)$ is called a $g$-good neighbor cut of $G$ if $G-F$ is disconnected and each vertex $v\in V(G)\backslash F$ has at least $g$ neighbors. The $g$-good neighbor connectivity $κ_g(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum cardinality of $g$-good neighbor cuts of $G$. The condition of $g$-good neighbor connectivity is weaker than that of $g$-good $r$-component connectivity, and there is no requirement on the number of components. As a counterpart, we also study similar problem for $g$-good neighbor connectivity.
Essential connectivity and spectral radius of graphs
A graph is trivial if it contains one vertex and no edges. The essential connectivity $κ^{\prime}$ of $G$ is defined to be the minimum number of vertices of $G$ whose removal produces a disconnected graph with at least two non-trivial components. Let $\mathcal{A}_n^{κ',δ}$ be the set of graphs of order $n$ with minimum degree $δ$ and essential connectivity $κ'$. In this paper, we determine the graphs attaining the maximum spectral radii among all graphs in $\mathcal{A}_n^{κ',δ}$ and characterize the corresponding extremal graphs. In addition, we also determine the digraphs which achieve the maximum spectral radii among all strongly connected digraphs with given essential connectivity and give the exact values of the spectral radii of these digraphs.
A unified approach to the spectral radius, connectivity and edge-connectivity of graphs
For two integers $r\geq 2$ and $h\geq 0$, the \emph{$h$-extra $r$-component connectivity} $κ^h_r(G)$ of a graph $G$ is defined to be the minimum size of a subset of vertices whose removal disconnects $G$, and there are at least $r$ connected components in $G\!-\!S$ and each component has at least $h+1$ vertices. Denote by $\mathcal{G}_{n,δ}^{κ_r^h}$ the set of graphs with $h$-extra $r$-component connectivity $κ^h_r(G)$ and minimum degree $δ$. The following problem concerning spectral radius was proposed by Brualdi and Solheid [On the spectral radius of complementary acyclic matrices of zeros and one, SIAM J. Algebra Discrete Methods 7 (1986) 265-272]: Given a set of graphs $\mathscr{S}$, find an upper bound for the spectral radius of graphs in $\mathscr{S}$ and characterize the graphs in which the maximal spectral radius is attained. We study this question for $\mathscr{S}=\mathcal{G}_{n,δ}^{κ_r^h}$ where $r\geq 2$ and $h\geq 0$. Fan, Gu and Lin [$l$-connectivity, $l$-edge-connectivity and spectral radius of graphs, \emph{arXiv}:2309.05247] give the answer to $r\geq 2$ and $h=0$. In this paper, we solve this problem completely for $r\geq 2$ and $h\geq1$. Moreover, we also investigate analogous problems for the edge version. Our results can break the restriction of the extremum structure of the conditional connectivity. This implies some previous results in connectivity and edge-connectivity.

These are notes taken by the second author for a series of three lectures by the first author on absolute and relative Calabi-Yau completions and Calabi-Yau structures given at the workshop of the International Conference on Representations of Algebras which was held online in November 2020. Such structures are relevant for (higher) representation theory as well as for the categorification of cluster algebras with coefficients. After a quick reminder on dg categories and their Hochschild and cyclic homologies, we present examples of absolute and relative Calabi-Yau completions (in the sense of Yeung). In many examples, these are related to higher preprojective algebras in the sense of Iyama-Oppermann. We conclude with the definition of relative (left and right) Calabi-Yau structures after Brav-Dyckerhoff.
