On local antimagic total chromatic number of certain one point union of graphs
Let $G = (V,E)$ be a connected simple graph of order $p$ and size $q$. A bijection $f:V(G)\cup E(G)\to \{1,2,\ldots,p+q\}$ is called a local antimagic total labeling of $G$ if for any two adjacent vertices $u$ and $v$, we have $w(u)\ne w(v)$, where $w(u) = f(u) + \sum_{e\in E(u)} f(e)$ and $E(u)$ is the set of incident edge(s) of $u$. The local antimagic total chromatic number, denoted $χ_{lat}(G)$, is the minimum number of distinct weights over local antimagic total labeling of $G$. In this paper, we provide a correct proof and exact local antimagic total chromatic number of path and spider graphs given in [Local vertex antimagic total coloring of path graph and amalgamation of path, {\it CGANT J. Maths Appln.} {\bf 5(1)} 2024, DOI:10.25037/cgantjma.v5i1.109]. Further, we determined the local antimagic total chromatic number of spider graph with each leg of length at most 2. We also showed the existence of unicyclic and bicyclic graphs with local antimagic total chromatic number 3.

Real toric manifolds associated with chordal nestohedra
This paper investigates the rational Betti numbers of real toric manifolds associated with chordal nestohedra. We consider the poset topology of a specific poset induced from a chordal building set, and show its EL-shellability. Based on this, we present an explicit description using alternating $\mathcal{B}$-permutations for a chordal building set $\mathcal{B}$, transforming the computing Betti numbers into a counting problem. This approach allows us to compute the $a$-number of a finite simple graph through permutation counting when the graph is chordal. In addition, we provide detailed computations for specific cases such as real Hochschild varieties corresponding to Hochschild polytopes.

Projective Rectangles: The Graph of Lines
A projective rectangle is like a projective plane that may have different lengths in two directions. We develop properties of the graph of lines, in which adjacency means having a common point, especially its strong regularity and clique structure. The main construction of projective rectangles, stated in a previous paper, gives rectangles whose graph of lines is a known strongly regular bilinear forms graph. That fact leads to a proof that the main construction does produce projective rectangles, and also gives a new representation of bilinear forms graphs. We conclude by mentioning a few simple graph properties, such as the chromatic number, which is not known, and a partial geometry obtained from the graph.

A short proof of the Goldberg-Seymour conjecture
For a multigraph $G$, $χ'(G)$ denotes the chromatic index of $G$, $Δ(G)$ the maximum degree of $G$, and $Γ(G) = \max\left\{\left\lceil \frac{2|E(H)|}{|V(H)|-1} \right\rceil: H \subseteq G \text{ and } |V(H)| \text{ odd}\right\}$. As a generalization of Vizing's classical coloring result for simple graphs, the Goldberg-Seymour conjecture, posed in the 1970s, states that $χ'(G)=\max\{Δ(G), Γ(G)\}$ or $χ'(G)=\max\{Δ(G) + 1, Γ(G)\}$. Hochbaum, Nishizeki, and Shmoys further conjectured in 1986 that such a coloring can be found in polynomial time. A long proof of the Goldberg-Seymour conjecture was announced in 2019 by Chen, Jing, and Zang, and one case in that proof was eliminated recently by Jing (but the proof is still long); and neither proof has been verified. In this paper, we give a proof of the Goldberg-Seymour conjecture that is significantly shorter and confirm the Hochbaum-Nishizeki-Shmoys conjecture by providing an $O(|V|^5|E|^3)$ time algorithm for finding a $\max\{Δ(G) + 1, Γ(G)\}$-edge-coloring of $G$.

Binary LCD Codes and Their Graph Representations
We establish a bijection between binary even LCD codes and simple graphs whose adjacency matrices are idempotent over $\FF_2$. This bijection preserves equivalence: permutation equivalence of codes corresponds exactly to graph isomorphism. Based on this framework, we characterize which distance-regular graphs yield LCD codes via intersection array parameters, prove that non-isomorphic conference graphs yield inequivalent codes, and classify LCD-derived graphs of small orders.
The Signed Roman Domination Number of Ladder graphs, circular Ladder graphs and their complements
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a finite connected simple graph with vertex set $V$ and edge set $E$. A signed Roman dominating function (SRDF) on a graph $G$ is a function $f: V \rightarrow \{-1, 1, 2\}$ that satisfies two conditions: (i) $\sum_{y\in N[x]} f(y)\geq1$ for each $x\in V$, where the set $N[x]$ is the closed neighborhood of $x$ consisting of $x$ and vertices of $V$ that are adjacent to $x$, and (ii) each vertex $x\in V$ where $f(x) = -1$ is adjacent to at least one vertex $y\in V$ where $f(y)=2$. The weight of a SRDF is the sum of its function values over all vertices. The signed Roman domination number of $G$, denoted by $γ_{SR}(G)$, is the minimum weight of a SRDF on $G$. In this paper, we investigate the signed Roman domination number of the Ladder graph $LG_n$, the circular Ladder graph $CL_n$ and their complements.

Perfect Matching Complexes of Polygonal Line Tilings
Published • View PublicationBIB
The perfect matching complex of a simple graph $G$ is a simplicial complex having facets (maximal faces) as the perfect matchings of $G$. This article discusses the perfect matching complex of polygonal line tilings and the $\left(2 \times n\right)$-grid graph in particular. We use tools from discrete Morse theory to show that the perfect matching complex of any polygonal line tiling is either contractible or homotopy equivalent to a wedge of spheres. While proving our results, we also characterize all the matchings of $\left(2 \times n\right)$-grid graph that cannot be extended to form a perfect matching.

Probability graphons: the right convergence point of view
We extend the theory of probability graphons, continuum representations of edge-decorated graphs arising in graph limits theory, to the 'right convergence' point of view. First of all, we generalise the notions of overlay functionals and quotient sets to the case of probability graphons. Furthermore, we characterise the convergence of probability graphons in terms of these global quantities. In particular, we show the equivalence of these two notions of convergence with the unlabelled cut-metric convergence (and thus also with the homomorphism densities convergence and the subgraph sampling convergence). In other words, we prove the equivalence of the 'left convergence' and the 'right convergence' views on probability graphons convergence, generalising the corresponding result for (real-valued) graphons (the classical continuum representation for simple graphs).

A linear-time algorithm for $(1+ε)Δ$-edge-coloring
We present a randomized algorithm that, given a constant $ε> 0$, outputs a proper $(1+ε)Δ$-edge-coloring of an $m$-edge simple graph $G$ of maximum degree $Δ\geq 1/ε$ in $O(m)$ time with high probability. This is the first linear-time algorithm for this problem covering the full range of possible values of $Δ$. Indeed, even for edge-coloring with $2Δ- 1$ colors (i.e., meeting the "greedy" bound), no such linear-time algorithm has been previously known.
The Pinnacle Sets of a Graph
We introduce and study the pinnacle sets of a simple graph $G$ with $n$ vertices. Given a bijective vertex labeling $λ\,:\,V(G)\rightarrow [n]$, the label $λ(v)$ of vertex $v$ is a pinnacle of $(G, λ)$ if $λ(v)>λ(w)$ for all vertices $w$ in the neighborhood of $v$. The pinnacle set of $(G, λ)$ contains all the pinnacles of the labeled graph. A subset $S\subseteq[n]$ is a pinnacle set of $G$ if there exists a labeling $λ$ such that $S$ is the pinnacle set of $(G,λ)$. Of interest to us is the question: Which subsets of $[n]$ are the pinnacle sets of $G$? Our main results are as follows. We show that when $G$ is connected, $G$ has a size-$k$ pinnacle set if and only if $G$ has an independent set of the same size. Consequently, determining if $G$ has a size-$k$ pinnacle set and determining if $G$ has a particular subset $S$ as a pinnacle set are NP-complete problems. Nonetheless, we completely identify all the pinnacle sets of complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs, cycles and paths. We also present two techniques for deriving new pinnacle sets from old ones that imply a typical graph has many pinnacle sets. Finally, we define a poset on all the size-$k$ pinnacle sets of $G$ and show that it is a join semilattice. If, additionally, the poset has a minimum element, then it is a distributive lattice. We conclude with some open problems for further study.

Some Bounds on the Energy of Graphs with Self-Loops regarding $λ_{1}$ and $λ_{n}$
Let $G_{S}$ be a graph with $n$ vertices obtained from a simple graph $G$ by attaching one self-loop at each vertex in $S \subseteq V(G)$. The energy of $G_{S}$ is defined by Gutman et al. as $E(G_{S})=\sum_{i=1}^{n}\left| λ_{i} -\fracσ{n} \right|$, where $λ_{1},\dots,λ_{n}$ are the adjacency eigenvalues of $G_{S}$ and $σ$ is the number of self-loops of $G_{S}$. In this paper, several upper and lower bounds of $E(G_{S})$ regarding $λ_{1}$ and $λ_{n}$ are obtained. Especially, the upper bound $E(G_{S}) \leq \sqrt{n\left(2m+σ-\frac{σ^{2}}{n}\right)}$ $(\ast)$ given by Gutman et al. is improved to the following bound \begin{align*} E(G_{S})\leq \sqrt{n\left(2m+σ-\frac{σ^{2}}{n}\right)-\frac{n}{2}\left(\left |λ_{1}-\fracσ{n}\right |-\left |λ_{n}-\fracσ{n}\right |\right)^{2}}, \end{align*} where $\left| λ_{1}-\fracσ{n}\right| \geq \dots \geq \left| λ_{n}-\fracσ{n}\right|$. Moreover, all graphs are characterized when the equality holds in Gutmans' bound $(\ast)$ by using this new bound.

On Graph Odd Edge-Colorings and Odd Edge-Coverings
An odd $k$-edge-coloring of a graph $G$ is a (not necessarily proper) edge-coloring with at most $k$ colors such that each non-empty color class induces a graph in which every vertex is of odd degree; similarly, if more than one color per edge is allowed, we speak of an odd $k$-edge-covering of $G$. In this paper, we fully resolve two major conjectures on odd edge-colorings and odd edge-coverings of graphs, proposed by Petru{š}evski and {Š}krekovski ({\it European Journal of Combinatorics,} 91:103225, 2021). The first conjecture states that, apart from two particular exceptions which are respectively odd $5$- and odd-$6$-edge-colorable, for any other loopless and connected graph $G$ there exists an edge $e$ such that $G\backslash \{e\}$ is odd $3$-edge-colorable. The second conjecture states that any simple graph $G$ admits an odd $3$-edge-covering in which at most one edge receives more than one color. In addition, we strongly confirm the second conjecture by demonstrating that there exists an odd $3$-edge-covering in which at most one edge receives two colors and the rest of the edges receive unique colors.
Unifying adjacency, Laplacian, and signless Laplacian theories
Let $G$ be a simple graph with associated diagonal matrix of vertex degrees $D(G)$, adjacency matrix $A(G)$, Laplacian matrix $L(G)$ and signless Laplacian matrix $Q(G)$. Recently, Nikiforov proposed the family of matrices $A_α(G)$ defined for any real $α\in [0,1]$ as $A_α(G):=α\,D(G)+(1-α)\,A(G)$, and also mentioned that the matrices $A_α(G)$ can underpin a unified theory of $A(G)$ and $Q(G)$. Inspired from the above definition, we introduce the $B_α$-matrix of $G$, $B_α(G):=αA(G)+(1-α)L(G)$ for $α\in [0,1]$. Note that $ L(G)=B_0(G), D(G)=2B_{\frac{1}{2}}(G), Q(G)=3B_{\frac{2}{3}}(G), A(G)=B_1(G)$. In this article, we study several spectral properties of $ B_α$-matrices to unify the theories of adjacency, Laplacian, and signless Laplacian matrices of graphs. In particular, we prove that each eigenvalue of $ B_α(G) $ is continuous on $ α$. Using this, we characterize positive semidefinite $ B_α$-matrices in terms of $α$. As a consequence, we provide an upper bound of the independence number of $ G $. Besides, we establish some bounds for the largest and the smallest eigenvalues of $B_α(G)$. As a result, we obtain a bound for the chromatic number of $G$ and deduce several known results. In addition, we present a Sachs-type result for the characteristic polynomial of a $ B_α$-matrix.
About the second neighborhood conjecture for tournaments missing two stars or disjoint paths
Seymour's Second Neighborhood Conjecture (SSNC) asserts that every oriented finite simple graph (without digons) has a vertex whose second out-neighborhood is at least as large as its first out-neighborhood. Such a vertex is said to have the second neighborhood property (SNP). In this paper, we prove SSNC for tournaments missing two stars. We also study SSNC for tournaments missing disjoint paths and, particularly, in the case of missing paths of length 2. In some cases, we exhibit at least two vertices with the SNP.

Degrees are Useless in SNORT When Measuring Temperature
Snort is a two-player game played on a simple graph in which players alternately colour a vertex such that they do not colour adjacent to their opponents' vertex. In combinatorial game theory, the temperature of a position is a measure of the urgency of moving first. It is known that the temperature of \snort in general is infinite ($K_{1,n}$ has temperature $n$). We show that the temperature in addition can be infinitely larger than the degree of the board being played on. We do so by constructing a family of positions in which the temperature grows twice as fast as the degree of the board.

On Energy of Graphs with Self-Loops
Let G be a simple graph on n vertices with vertex set V(G). The energy of G, denoted by, $\mathcal{E}(G)$ is the sum of all absolute values of the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix $A(G)$. It is the first eigenvalue-based topological molecular index and is related to the molecular orbital energy levels of $π$-electrons in conjugated hydrocarbons. Recently, the concept of energy of a graph is extended to a self-loop graph. Let $S$ be a subset of $V(G)$. The graph $G_S$ is obtained from the graph $G$ by attaching a self-loop at each of the vertices of $G$ which are in the set $S$. The energy of the self-loop graph $G_S$, denoted by $\mathcal{E}(G_S)$, is the sum of all absolute eigenvalues of the matrix $A(G_S)$. Two non-isomorphic self-loop graphs are equienergetic if their energies are equal. Akbari et al. (2023)conjectured that there exist a subset $S$ of $V(G)$ such that $\mathcal(G_S) > \mathcal{E}(G)$. In this paper, we confirm this conjecture. Also, we construct pairs of equienergetic self-loop graphs of order 24n for all n \ge 1.

On edge irregularity strength of cycle-star graphs
Published in Proyecciones Journal of Mathematics, Vol. 43, No 3, pp. 725-741, June 2024 • Search Publication
For a simple graph $G$, a vertex labeling $φ:V(G) \rightarrow \{1, 2,\ldots,k\}$ is called $k$-labeling. The weight of an edge $uv$ in $G$, written $w_φ(uv)$, is the sum of the labels of end vertices $u$ and $v$, i.e., $w_φ(uv)=φ(u)+φ(v)$. A vertex $k$-labeling is defined to be an edge irregular $k$-labeling of the graph $G$ if for every two distinct edges $u$ and $v$, $w_φ(u) \neq w_φ(v)$. The minimum $k$ for which the graph $G$ has an edge irregular $k$-labeling is called the edge irregularity strength of $G$, written $es(G)$. In this paper, we study the edge irregular $k$-labeling for cycle-star graph $CS_{k,n-k}$ and determine the exact value for cycle-star graph for $3 \leq k \leq 7$ and $n-k \geq 1$. Finally, we make a conjecture for the edge irregularity strength of $CS_{k,n-k}$ for $k \geq 8$ and $n-k \geq 1$.

A note on edge irregularity strength of Dandelion graph
For a simple graph $G$, a vertex labeling $φ:V(G) \rightarrow \{1, 2,\ldots,k\}$ is called $k$-labeling. The weight of an edge $xy$ in $G$, written $w_φ(xy)$, is the sum of the labels of end vertices $x$ and $y$, i.e., $w_φ(xy)=φ(x)+φ(y)$. A vertex $k$-labeling is defined to be an edge irregular $k$-labeling of the graph $G$ if for every two different edges $e$ and $f$, $w_φ(e) \neq w_φ(f)$. The minimum $k$ for which the graph $G$ has an edge irregular $k$-labeling is called the edge irregularity strength of $G$, written $es(G)$. In this note, we find the exact value of edge irregularity strength of Dandelion graph when $Δ(G) \geq \lceil \frac{|E(G)|+1}{2} \rceil$; and determine the bounds when $Δ(G) < \lceil \frac{|E(G)|+1}{2} \rceil $.

Line graphs and Nordhaus-Gaddum-type bounds for self-loop graphs
Let $G_S$ be the graph obtained by attaching a self-loop at every vertex in $S \subseteq V(G)$ of a simple graph $G$ of order $n.$ In this paper, we explore several new results related to the line graph $L(G_S)$ of $G_S.$ Particularly, we show that every eigenvalue of $L(G_S)$ must be at least $-2,$ and relate the characteristic polynomial of the line graph $L(G)$ of $G$ with the characteristic polynomial of the line graph $L(\widehat{G})$ of a self-loop graph $\widehat{G}$, which is obtained by attaching a self-loop at each vertex of $G$. Then, we provide some new bounds for the eigenvalues and energy of $G_S.$ As one of the consequences, we obtain that the energy of a connected regular complete multipartite graph is not greater than the energy of the corresponding self-loop graph. Lastly, we establish a lower bound of the spectral radius in terms of the first Zagreb index $M_1(G)$ and the minimum degree $δ(G),$ as well as proving two Nordhaus-Gaddum-type bounds for the spectral radius and the energy of $G_S,$ respectively.
