A $q$-analogue of the rational normal curve and linearized Reed-Solomon codes
The relationship between linear codes in the Hamming metric and projective algebraic varieties has led to deep interactions between coding theory and algebraic geometry, with classical examples such as Reed-Solomon codes and the rational normal curve. On the other hand, the sum-rank metric has recently gained attention due to applications in network coding, distributed storage, and post-quantum cryptography, with linearized Reed-Solomon codes emerging as optimal constructions. Despite recent advances, their structural and geometric properties are still not fully understood, and existing distinguishers remain limited. In this paper, we develop a geometric framework for linearized Reed-Solomon codes by considering a $q$-analogue of the rational normal curve. This yields a geometric characterization for certain parameter choices and reveals that the corresponding sets of points satisfy unexpectedly many $(q+1)$-degree hypersurface conditions. Our approach extends Schur-product-based techniques from the Hamming and rank-metric settings to the sum-rank metric case. Finally, we study the Hilbert function of the associated coordinate ring, providing a detailed description of its behavior and identifying its regularity, which also sheds new light on Gabidulin codes.
Decoding rank metric Reed-Muller codes
In this article, we investigate the decoding of the rank metric Reed--Muller codes introduced by Augot, Couvreur, Lavauzelle and Neri in 2021. These codes are defined from Abelian Galois extensions extending the construction of Gabidulin codes over arbitrary cyclic Galois extensions. We propose a polynomial time algorithm that rests on the structure of Dickson matrices, works on any such code and corrects any error of rank up to half the minimum distance.
Freiman's $3k-4$ Theorem for Function Fields
Freiman's $3k-4$ Theorem states that if a subset $A$ of $k$ integers has a Minkowski sum $A+A$ of size at most $3k-4$, then it must be contained in a short arithmetic progression. We prove a function field analogue that is also a generalisation: it states that if $K$ is a perfect field and if $S\supset K$ is a vector space of dimension $k$ inside an extension $F/K$ in which~$K$ is algebraically closed, and if the $K$-vector space generated by all products of pairs of elements of $S$ has dimension at most $3k-4$, then $K(S)$ is a function field of small genus, and $S$ is of small codimension inside a Riemann-Roch space of $K(S)$.

We discuss a multiplicative counterpart of Freiman's $3k-4$ theorem in the context of a function field $F$ over an algebraically closed field $K$. Such a theorem would give a precise description of subspaces $S$, such that the space $S^2$ spanned by products of elements of $S$ satisfies $\dim S^2 \leq 3 \dim S-4$. We make a step in this direction by giving a complete characterisation of spaces $S$ such that $\dim S^2 = 2 \dim S$. We show that, up to multiplication by a constant field element, such a space $S$ is included in a function field of genus $0$ or $1$. In particular if the genus is $1$ then this space is a Riemann-Roch space.
On tensor products of CSS Codes

CSS codes are in one-to-one correspondance with length 3 chain complexes. The latter are naturally endowed with a tensor product $\otimes$ which induces a similar operation on the former. We investigate this operation, and in particular its behavior with regard to minimum distances. Given a CSS code $\mathcal{C}$, we give a criterion which provides a lower bound on the minimum distance of $\mathcal{C} \otimes \mathcal{D}$ for every CSS code $\mathcal D$. We apply this result to study the behaviour of iterated tensor powers of codes. Such sequences of codes are logarithmically LDPC and we prove in particular that their minimum distances tend generically to infinity. Different known results are reinterpretated in terms of tensor products. Three new families of CSS codes are defined, and their iterated tensor powers produce LDPC sequences of codes with length $n$, row weight in $O(\log n)$ and minimum distances larger than $n^{\fracα{2}}$ for any $α<1$. One family produces sequences with dimensions larger than $n^β$ for any $β<1$.
An upper bound on the number of rational points of arbitrary projective varieties over finite fields

We give an upper bound on the number of rational points of an arbitrary Zariski closed subset of a projective space over a finite field. This bound depends only on the dimensions and degrees of the irreducible components and holds for very general varieties, even reducible and non equidimensional. As a consequence, we prove a conjecture of Ghorpade and Lachaud on the maximal number of rational points of an equidimensional projective variety.

We study a construction of Quantum LDPC codes proposed by MacKay, Mitchison and Shokrollahi. It is based on the Cayley graph of Fn together with a set of generators regarded as the columns of the parity-check matrix of a classical code. We give a general lower bound on the minimum distance of the Quantum code in $\mathcal{O}(dn^2)$ where d is the minimum distance of the classical code. When the classical code is the $[n, 1, n]$ repetition code, we are able to compute the exact parameters of the associated Quantum code which are $[[2^n, 2^{\frac{n+1}{2}}, 2^{\frac{n-1}{2}}]]$.
Incidence structures from the blown-up plane and LDPC codes

In this article, new regular incidence structures are presented. They arise from sets of conics in the affine plane blown-up at its rational points. The LDPC codes given by these incidence matrices are studied. These sparse incidence matrices turn out to be redundant, which means that their number of rows exceeds their rank. Such a feature is absent from random LDPC codes and is in general interesting for the efficiency of iterative decoding. The performance of some codes under iterative decoding is tested. Some of them turn out to perform better than regular Gallager codes having similar rate and row weight.
