Bounds on the nonnegative signed domination number of graphs
The aim of this work is to investigate the nonnegative signed domination number $γ^{NN}_s$ with emphasis on regular, ($r+1$)-clique-free graphs and trees. We give lower and upper bounds on $γ^{NN}_s$ for regular graphs and prove that $n/3$ is the best possible upper bound on this parameter for a cubic graph of order $n$, specifically. As an application of the classic theorem of Turán we bound $γ^{NN}_s(G)$ from below, for an ($r+1$)-clique-free graph $G$ and characterize all such graphs for which the equality holds, which corrects and generalizes a result for bipartite graphs in [Electron. J. Graph Theory Appl. 4 (2) (2016), 231--237], simultaneously. Also, we bound $γ^{NN}_s(T)$ for a tree $T$ from above and below and characterize all trees attaining the bounds.

Some notes on the signed bad number in bipartite graphs
Published in Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms and Applications, 2020 • View PublicationBIB
In this paper, we deal with the signed bad number and the negative decision number of graphs. We show that two upper bounds concerning these two parameters for bipartite graphs in papers [Discrete Math. Algorithms Appl. 1 (2011), 33--41] and [Australas. J. Combin. 41 (2008), 263--272] are not true as they stand. We correct them by presenting more general bounds for triangle-free graphs by using the classic theorem of Mantel from the extremal graph theory and characterize all triangle-free graphs attaining these bounds.

Packing and domination parameters in digraphs
Published in Discrete Applied Mathematics, 269 (2019), 184-192 • View PublicationBIB
Given a digraph $D=(V,A)$, a set $B\subset V$ is a packing set in $D$ if there are no arcs joining vertices of $B$ and for any two vertices $x,y\in B$ the sets of in-neighbors of $x$ and $y$ are disjoint. The set $S$ is a dominating set (an open dominating set) in $D$ if every vertex not in $S$ (in $V$) has an in-neighbor in $S$. Moreover, a dominating set $S$ is called a total dominating set if the subgraph induced by $S$ has no isolated vertices. The packing sets of maximum cardinality and the (total, open) dominating sets of minimum cardinality in digraphs are studied in this article. We prove that the two optimal sets concerning packing and domination achieve the same value for directed trees, and give some applications of it. We also show analogous equalities for all connected contrafunctional digraphs, and characterize all such digraphs $D$ for which such equalities are satisfied. Moreover, sharp bounds on the maximum and the minimum cardinalities of packing and dominating sets, respectively, are given for digraphs. Finally, we present solutions for two open problems, concerning total and open dominating sets of minimum cardinality, pointed out in [Australas. J. Combin. 39 (2007), 283--292].

Packing parameters in graphs: New bounds and a solution to an open problem
Published in Journal of Combinatorial Optimization, 2019 • View PublicationBIB
In this paper, we investigate the packing parameters in graphs. By applying the Mantel's theorem, We give upper bounds on packing and open packing numbers of triangle-free graphs along with characterizing the graphs for which the equalities hold and exhibit sharp Nordhaus-Gaddum type inequalities for packing numbers. We also solve the open problem of characterizing all connected graphs with $ρ_{o}(G)=n-ω(G)$ posed in [S. Hamid and S. Saravanakumar, {\em Packing parameters in graphs}, Discuss Math. Graph Theory, 35 (2015), 5--16].

Nordhaus-Gaddum type inequalities for multiple domination and packing parameters in graphs
Published in Contributions to Discrete Mathematics, 2020 • View PublicationBIB
We study the Nordhaus-Gaddum type results for $(k-1,k,j)$ and $k$-domination numbers of a graph $G$ and investigate these bounds for the $k$-limited packing and $k$-total limited packing numbers in graphs. As the special case $(k-1,k,j)=(1,2,0)$ we give an upper bound on $dd(G)+dd(\overline{G})$ stronger than that presented by Harary and Haynes (1996). Moreover, we establish upper bounds on the sum and product of packing and open packing numbers and characterize all graphs attaining these bounds.

On the inverse signed total domination number in graphs
Published in Opuscula Mathematica, 37 (2017), 447-456 • View PublicationBIB
In this paper, we study the inverse signed total domination number in graphs and present new lower and upper bounds on this parameter. For example by making use of the classic theorem of Turan (1941), we present a sharp upper bound for graphs with no induced complete subgraph of order greater than two. Also, we bound this parameter for a tree in terms of its order and the number of leaves and characterize all trees attaining this bound.

For example by making use of the classic theorem of Turan, we present a sharp lower bound on this parameter for graphs with no complete graph of order r+1 as a subgraph. Also, we prove that n-2(s-s') is an upper bound on the signed total domination number of any tree of order n with s support vertices and s' support vertives of degree two. Moreover, we characterize all trees attainig this bound.

On the $k$-limited packing numbers in graphs
Published in Discrete Optimization, 22 (2016), 270-276 • View PublicationBIB
We give a sharp lower bound on the lower $k$-limited packing number of a general graph. Moreover, we establish a Nordhaus-Gaddum type bound on $2$-limited packing number of a graph. Also, we investigate the concepts of packing number ($1$-limited packing number) and open packing number in graphs with more details. In this way, by making use of the classic result of Meir and Moon (1975) and its total version (2005) we give new sharp upper bounds on domination number and total domination number of trees.
$(k,k',k'')$-domination in graphs
Published in Journal of Combinatorial Mathematics and Combinatorial Computing, 98 (2016), 343-349 • Search Publication
We first introduce the concept of (k,k',k'')-domination numbers in graphs, which is a generalization of many domination parameters. Then we find lower and upper bounds for this parameter, which improve many well-known results in literatures.

A solution to an open problem on lower against number in graphs
Published in Journal of Combinatorial Optimization, 31 (2016), 1130-1133 • View PublicationBIB
In [1] the problem of finding a sharp lower bound on lower against number of a general graph is mentioned as an open question. We solve the problem by establishing a tight lower bound on lower against number of a general graph in terms of order and maximum degree.
