Signed Magic arrays with certain property
A signed magic array, $SMA(m, n;s,t)$, is an $m \times n$ array with the same number of filled cells $s$ in each row and the same number of filled cells $t$ in each column, filled with a certain set of numbers that is symmetric about the number zero, such that every row and column has a zero sum. We use the notation $SMA(m, n)$ if $m=t$ and $n=s$. In this paper, we prove that for every even number $n\geq 2$ there exists an $SMA(m,n)$ such that the entries $\pm x$ appear in the same row for every $x\in\{1, 2, 3,\ldots, mn/2\}$ if and only if $m\equiv 0, 3(\mod4)$ and $n=2$ or $m\geq 3$ and $n\geq 4$.
Covering Italian domination in graphs
Published in Discrete Applied Mathematics 304, (2021), 324-331 • View PublicationBIB
For a graph $G=(V(G),E(G))$, an Italian dominating function (ID function) of $G$ is a function $f:V(G)\rightarrow \{0,1,2\}$ such that for each vertex $v\in V(G)$ with $f(v)=0$, $f(N(v))\geq2$, that is, either there is a vertex $u \in N(v)$ with $f (u) = 2$ or there are two vertices $x,y\in N(v)$ with $f(x)=f(y)=1$. A function $f:V(G)\rightarrow \{0,1,2\}$ is a covering Italian dominating function (CID function) of $G$ if $f$ is an ID function and $\{v\in V(G)\mid f(v)\neq0\}$ is a vertex cover set. The covering Italian domination number (CID number) $γ_{cI}(G)$ is the minimum weight taken over all CID functions of $G$. In this paper, we study the CID number in graphs. We show that the problem of computing this parameter is NP-hard even when restricted to some well-known families of graphs, and find some bounds on this parameter. We characterize the family of graphs for which their CID numbers attain the upper bound twice their vertex cover number as well as all claw-free graphs whose CID numbers attain the lower bound half of their orders. We also give the characterizations of some families of graphs with small or large CID numbers.

Signed magic rectangles with three filled cells in each column
A {\em signed magic rectangle} $SMR(m,n;k, s)$ is an $m \times n$ array with entries from $X$, where $X=\{0,\pm1,\pm2,\ldots, $ $\pm (mk-1)/2\}$ if $mk$ is odd and $X = \{\pm1,\pm2,\ldots,\pm mk/2\}$ if $mk$ is even, such that precisely $k$ cells in every row and $s$ cells in every column are filled, every integer from set $X$ appears exactly once in the array and the sum of each row and of each column is zero. In this paper, we prove that a signed magic rectangle $SMR(m,n;k, 3)$ exists if and only if $3\leq m,k\leq n$ and $mk=3n$.
Total dominator coloring of circulant graphs $C_n(a,b)$
The circulant graph $C_n(S)$ with connection set $S\subseteq \{1,2,\cdots,n\}$ is the graph with vertex set $V=\{1,\ldots, n\}$ and two vertices $x,y$ are adjacent if $|x-y|\in S$. In this paper, we will calculate the total dominator chromatic number of the circulant graph $C_n(\{a,b\})$ when $n\geq 6$, $gcd(a,n)=1$ and $ a^{-1}b\equiv 3 \pmod{n}$.

Signed magic rectangles with two filled cells in each column
A signed magic rectangle $SMR(m,n;r, s)$ is an $m \times n$ array with entries from $X$, where $X=\{0,\pm1,\pm2,\ldots, $ $\pm (ms-1)/2\}$ if $mr$ is odd and $X = \{\pm1,\pm2,\ldots,\pm mr/2\}$ if $mr$ is even, such that precisely $r$ cells in every row and $s$ cells in every column are filled, every integer from set $X$ appears exactly once in the array and the sum of each row and of each column is zero. In this paper we prove that a signed magic rectangle $SMR(m,n;r, 2)$ exists if and only if either $m=2$ and $n=r\equiv 0,3 \pmod 4$ or $m,r\geq 3$ and $mr=2n$.

Magic rectangles with empty cells
A magic rectangle of order $m\times n$ with precisely $r$ filled cells in each row and precisely $s$ filled cells in each column, denoted $MR(m,n;r,s)$, is an arrangement of the numbers from 0 to $mr-1$ in an $m\times n$ array such that each number occurs exactly once in the rectangle and the sum of the entries of each row is the same and the sum of entries of each column is also the same. In this paper we study the existence of $MR(m,n;r,2)$, $MR(m,km;ks,s)$, and $MR(am,bm;bs,as)$. We also prove that there exists a magic square set $MSS(m, s; t)$ if and only if $m=s=t=1$ or $3\leq s\leq m$ and either $s$ is even or $mt$ is odd.

Magic squares with empty cells
A k-magic square of order n is an arrangement of the numbers from 0 to kn-1 in an n by n matrix, such that each row and each column has exactly k filled cells, each number occurs exactly once, and the sum of the entries of any row or any column is the same. A magic square is called k-diagonal if its entries all belong to k consecutive diagonals. In this paper we prove that a k-diagonal magic square exists if and only if n = k = 1 or 3 <= k <=n and n is odd or k is even.

Signed edge domination numbers of complete tripartite graphs: Part 2
The closed neighborhood $N_G[e]$ of an edge $e$ in a graph $G$ is the set consisting of $e$ and of all edges having an end-vertex in common with $e$. Let $f$ be a function on $E(G)$, the edge set of $G$, into the set $\{-1,1\}$. If $\sum_{x\in{N[e]}}f(x)\geq 1$ for each edge $e \in E(G)$, then $f$ is called a signed edge dominating function of $G$. The signed edge domination number of $G$ is the minimum weight of a signed edge dominating function of $G$. In this paper, we find the signed edge domination number of the complete tripartite graph $K_{m,n,p}$, where $1\leq m\leq n$ and $p\geq m+n$. This completes the search for the signed edge domination numbers of the complete tripartite graphs.
Existence of Some Signed Magic Arrays
Published • View PublicationBIB
We consider the notion of a signed magic array, which is an $m \times n$ rectangular array with the same number of filled cells $s$ in each row and the same number of filled cells $t$ in each column, filled with a certain set of numbers that is symmetric about the number zero, such that every row and column has a zero sum. We attempt to make progress toward a characterization of for which $(m, n, s, t)$ there exists such an array. This characterization is complete in the case where $n = s$ and in the case where $n = m$; we also characterize three-fourths of the cases where $n = 2m$.
$(r)$-Pancyclic, $(r)$-Bipancyclic and Oddly $(r)$-Bipancyclic Graphs
A graph with $v$ vertices is $(r)$-pancyclic if it contains precisely $r$ cycles of every length from 3 to $v$. A bipartite graph with even number of vertices $v$ is said to be $(r)$-bipancyclic if it contains precisely $r$ cycles of each even length from 4 to $v$. A bipartite graph with odd number of vertices $v$ and minimum degree at least 2 is said to be oddly $(r)$-bipancyclic if it contains precisely $r$ cycles of each even length from 4 to $v-1$. In this paper, using computer search, we classify all $(r)$-pancyclic and $(r)$-bipancyclic graphs with $v$ vertices and at most $v+5$ edges. We also classify all oddly $(r)$-bipancyclic graphs with $v$ vertices and at most $v+4$ edges.
Difference Covering Arrays and Pseudo-Orthogonal Latin Squares
Published in Graphs and Combinatorics, July 2016, Volume 32, Issue 4, pp 1353--1374 • View PublicationBIB
Difference arrays are used in applications such as software testing, authentication codes and data compression. Pseudo-orthogonal Latin squares are used in experimental designs. A special class of pseudo-orthogonal Latin squares are the mutually nearly orthogonal Latin squares (MNOLS) first discussed in 2002, with general constructions given in 2007. In this paper we develop row complete MNOLS from difference covering arrays. We will use this connection to settle the spectrum question for sets of 3 mutually pseudo-orthogonal Latin squares of even order, for all but the order 146.
$(k,k',k'')$-domination in graphs
Published in Journal of Combinatorial Mathematics and Combinatorial Computing, 98 (2016), 343-349 • Search Publication
We first introduce the concept of (k,k',k'')-domination numbers in graphs, which is a generalization of many domination parameters. Then we find lower and upper bounds for this parameter, which improve many well-known results in literatures.
New bounds on the signed domination numbers of graphs
Published in Australasian Journal of Combinatorics, 61 (3) (2015), 273-280 • Search Publication
In this paper, we study the signed domination numbers of graphs and present new sharp lower and upper bounds for this parameter. As an example, we present a lower bound on signed domination number of trees in terms of the order, leaves and support vertices.
Direct constructions for general families of cyclic mutually nearly orthogonal Latin squares
Published • View PublicationBIB
Two Latin squares $L=[l(i,j)]$ and $M=[m(i,j)]$, of even order $n$ with entries $\{0,1,2,\ldots,n-1\}$, are said to be nearly orthogonal if the superimposition of $L$ on $M$ yields an $n\times n$ array $A=[(l(i,j),m(i,j))]$ in which each ordered pair $(x,y)$, $0\leq x,y\leq n-1$ and $x\neq y$, occurs at least once and the ordered pair $(x,x+n/2)$ occurs exactly twice. In this paper, we present direct constructions for the existence of general families of three cyclic mutually orthogonal Latin squares of orders $48k+14$, $48k+22$, $48k+38$ and $48k+46$. The techniques employed are based on the principle of Methods of Differences and so we also establish infinite classes of "quasi-difference" sets for these orders.
