The Ehrhart series of alcoved polytopes
Alcoved polytopes are convex polytopes, which are the closure of a union of alcoves in an affine Coxeter arrangement. They are rational polytopes and, therefore, have Ehrhart quasipolynomials. Here we describe a method for computing the generating function of the Ehrhart quasipolynomial, or Ehrhart series, of any alcoved polytope via a particular shelling order of its alcoves. We also show a connection between Early's decorated ordered set partitions and this shelling order for the hypersimplex $Δ_{2,n}$.
Topology of augmented Bergman complexes

The augmented Bergman complex of a matroid is a simplicial complex introduced recently in work of Braden, Huh, Matherne, Proudfoot and Wang. It may be viewed as a hybrid of two well-studied pure shellable simplicial complexes associated to matroids: the independent set complex and Bergman complex.
It is shown here that the augmented Bergman complex is also shellable, via two different families of shelling orders. Furthermore, comparing the description of its homotopy type induced from the two shellings re-interprets a known convolution formula counting bases of the matroid. The representation of the automorphism group of the matroid on the homology of the augmented Bergman complex turns out to have a surprisingly simple description. This last fact is generalized to closures beyond those coming from a matroid.
Higher Secondary Polytopes for Two-Dimensional Zonotopes
Very recently, Galashin, Postnikov, and Williams introduced the notion of higher secondary polytopes, generalizing the secondary polytope of Gelfand, Kapranov, and Zelevinsky. Given an $n$-point configuration $\mathcal{A}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{d-1}$, they define a family of convex $(n-d)$-dimensional polytopes $\widehatΣ_{1}, \ldots, \widehatΣ_{n-d}$. The $1$-skeletons of this family of polytopes are the flip graphs of certain combinatorial configurations which generalize triangulations of $\text{conv} \mathcal{A}$. We restrict our attention to $d=2$. First, we relate the $1$-skeleton of the Minkowski sum $\widehatΣ_{k} + \widehatΣ_{k-1}$ to the flip graph of "hypertriangulations" of the deleted $k$-sum of $\mathcal{A}$ when $\mathcal{A}$ consists of distinct points. Second, we compute the diameter of $\widehatΣ_{k}$ and $\widehatΣ_{k}+\widehatΣ_{k-1}$ for all $k$.
