Non-isomorphic Cayley Graphs with Same Random Walk Distributions
We construct an infinite family of triples (G,S1, S2) each consisting of a group G and a pair (S1, S2) of distinct subsets of G with the following properties. i The two Cayley graphs Cay(G, S1) and Cay(G,S2) are non-isomorphic. ii The distributions of the simple random walks on Cay(G,S1) and Cay(G,S2) are the same if one takes an appropriate correspondence between the two vertex sets at each step. iii The spectral set of Cay(G, Si) is decomposed into a disjoint union of two subsets A and B_i of the equal size which satisfies B1 = -B2.

Top to random shuffles on colored permutations
Published • View PublicationBIB
A deck of $n$ cards are shuffled by repeatedly taking off the top card, flipping it with probability $1/2$, and inserting it back into the deck at a random position. This process can be considered as a Markov chain on the group $B_n$ of signed permutations. We show that the eigenvalues of the transition probability matrix are $0,1/n,2/n,\ldots,(n-1)/n,1$ and the multiplicity of the eigenvalue $i/n$ is equal to the number of the {\em signed} permutation having exactly $i$ fixed points. We show the similar results also for the colored permutations. Further, we show that the mixing time of this Markov chain is $n\log n$, same as the ordinary 'top-to-random' shuffles without flipping the cards. The cut-off is also analyzed by using the asymptotic behavior of the Stirling numbers of the second kind.

Determinantal Formula for Generalized Riffle Shuffle
Published • View PublicationBIB
We consider a generalized riffle shuffle on the colored permutation group $G_{p, n}$ and derive a determinantal formula for the probability of finding descents at given positions, proof of which is based on the bijection between the set of shuffles in question and that of non-intersecting lattice paths.

A generalization of carries process and riffle shuffles
Published in Discrete Mathematics, 339 (2016), pp. 974-991 • View PublicationBIB
As a continuation to our previous work, we consider a generalization of carries process. Our results are : (i) right eigenvectors of the transition probability matrix, (ii) correlation of carries between different steps, and (iii) generalized riffle shuffle having the same distribution as that of the generalized carries process.

A generalization of carries process and Eulerian numbers
Published • View PublicationBIB
We study a generalization of Holte's amazing matrix, the transition probability matrix of the Markov chains of the 'carries' in a non-standard numeration system. The stationary distributions are explicitly described by the numbers which can be regarded as a generalization of the Eulerian numbers and the MacMahon numbers. We also show that similar properties hold even for the numeration systems with the negative bases.

Hitting Matrix and Domino Tiling with Diagonal Impurities
Published • View PublicationBIB
As a continuation to our previous work [9, 10], we consider the domino tiling problem with impurities. (1) if we have more than two impurities on the boundary, we can compute the number of corresponding perfect matchings by using the hitting matrix method[4]. (2) we have an alternative proof of the main result in [9] and result in (1) above using the formula by Kenyon-Wilson [6, 7] of counting the number of groves on the circular planar graph. (3) we study the behavior of the probability of finding the impurity at a given site when the size of the graph tends to infinity, as well as the scaling limit of those.

A bijection theorem for domino tiling with diagonal impurities
Published • View PublicationBIB
We consider the dimer problem on a non-bipartite graph $G$, where there are two types of dimers one of which we regard impurities. Results of simulations using Markov chain seem to indicate that impurities are tend to distribute on the boundary, which we set as a conjecture. We first show that there is a bijection between the set of dimer coverings on $G$ and the set of spanning forests on two graphs which are made from $G$, with configuration of impurities satisfying a pairing condition. This bijection can be regarded as a extension of the Temperley bijection. We consider local move consisting of two operations, and by using the bijection mentioned above, we prove local move connectedness. We further obtained some bound of the number of dimer coverings and the probability finding an impurity at given edge, by extending the argument in our previous result.

Elementary properties of circle map sequences
Published in Nihonkai Math. Journal, Vol.19(2008), p.85-104 • Search Publication
We study the combinatorial and structural properties of the circle map sequences. We introduce an embedding procedure which gives a map from the hull(closure of the set of translates) to the sequence of embedding operations through which we study the structure of the hull. We also study the set of admissible words and classify them in terms of their appearance.

Domino tilings with diagonal impurities
This paper studies the dimer model on the dual graph of the square-octagon lattice, which can be viewed as the domino tilings with impurities in some sense. In particular, under a certain boundary condition, we give an exact formula representing the probability of finding an impurity at a given site in a uniformly random dimer configuration in terms of simple random walks on the square lattice.
