On the maximum size of $(a,b)$-town (mod $k$) families
For integers $n \geq k \geq 2$ and $0 \leq a,b \leq k-1$, let $m_{k,n}(a,b)$ denote the maximum size of an $(a,b)$-town (mod $k$) family of an $n$-element set, a collection of subsets of whose cardinalities are congruent to $a$ modulo $k$ and whose pairwise intersections are congruent to $b$ modulo $k$. This notion generalizes the classical Oddtown and Eventown problems. We prove that $m_{k,n}(a,b)\leq n$ whenever $a\not\equiv b\pmod{k}$, thereby resolving a conjecture of Veselinov and Marinov. We also disprove another conjecture of theirs by showing that $m_{3,11}(2,2)>m_{3,11}(1,1)$. For the diagonal case $a\equiv b\pmod{k}$, we establish the general bound $m_{k,n}(a,a)\leq 2^{\lfloor n/2\rfloor}$ and completely determine when equality holds. We further obtain improved bounds and exact values in several special cases. The proofs combine characteristic-zero linear algebra with methods from coding theory and finite geometry.

2-Geodesic-transitive graphs of order twice a prime power
In this paper, we study 2-geodesic-transitive graphs of order twice an odd prime power. Classifications of corresponding basic graphs and such graphs with almost simple automorphism groups are given, and a reduction theorem for general case is obtained. Certain new 2-geodesic-transitive graphs are found, and a Magma code regarding 2-geodesic-transitive graphs is provided.

Counterexamples, Constructions, and Nonexistence Results for Optimal Ternary Cyclic Codes
Cyclic codes are an important subclass of linear codes with wide applications in communication systems and data storage systems. In 2013, Ding and Helleseth presented nine open problems on optimal ternary cyclic codes $\mathcal{C}_{(1,e)}$. While the first two and the sixth problems have been fully solved, others remain open. In this paper, we advance the study of the third and fourth open problems by providing the first counterexamples to both and constructing two families of optimal codes under certain conditions, thereby partially solving the third problem. Furthermore, we investigate the cyclic codes $\mathcal{C}_{(1,e)}$ where $e(3^h\pm 1)\equiv\frac{3^m-a}{2}\pmod{3^m-1}$ and $a$ is odd. For $a\equiv 3\pmod{4}$, we present two new families of optimal codes with parameters $[3^m-1,3^m-1-2m,4]$, generalizing known constructions. For $a\equiv 1\pmod{4}$, we obtain several nonexistence results on optimal codes $\mathcal{C}_{(1,e)}$ with the aforementioned parameters revealing the constraints of such codes.

The complete classification of triply-transitive strongly regular graphs
This paper completes the classification of triply-transitive strongly regular graphs, a program recently initiated by Herman, Maleki, and Razafimahatratra. By proving that the collinearity graph of the polar space $\mathcal{Q}^{-}(5,q)$ and the affine polar graph $\mathrm{VO}^{\varepsilon}_{2m}(2)$ are triply-transitive, we resolve the final open cases in the classification. The result is a definitive list of all strongly regular graphs that exhibit this exceptional form of local symmetry, characterized by the equality $T_{0,ω}=T_ω=\widetilde{T}_ω$ of their Terwilliger algebras.

Nonexistence of generalized quadrangles admitting a point-primitive and line-primitive automorphism group with socle ${\rm PSU}(3,q)$, $q\geq 3$
A central problem in the study of generalized quadrangles is to classify finite generalized quadrangles satisfying certain symmetry conditions. It is known that an automorphism group of a finite thick generalized quadrangle $\mathcal{S}$ acting primitively on both the points and lines of $\mathcal{S}$ must be almost simple. In this paper, we initiate the study of finite generalized quadrangles admitting a point-primitive and line-primitive automorphism group with socle being a unitary group. We develop a group-theoretic tool to prove that the socle of such a group cannot be ${\rm PSU}(3,q)$ with $q\geq 3$.

An infinite family of $m$-ovoids of the hyperbolic quadrics $\mathcal{Q}^+(7,q)$
An infinite family of $(q^2+q+1)$-ovoids of $\mathcal{Q}^+(7,q)$, $q\equiv 1\pmod{3}$, admitting the group $\mathrm{PGL}(3,q)$, is constructed. The main tool is the general theory of generalized hexagons.

Constructions of tight sets of the Hermitian polar space $\mc{H}(2r-1,q^2)$
In this paper, we construct two infinite families of tight sets with parameters $(q^{2r-2}-1)$ and $(q^{2r-1}-q^{2r-2})$, respectively, in the Hermitian polar space $\mathcal{H}(2r-1,q^2)$ for any $r\ge 2$ and any prime power $q$. Both families admit $(q-1).\PGL(r,q^2).2.2e$ as the full automorphism group, where $q=p^e$, $p$ is a prime, and $e$ a positive integer.
Cameron-Liebler Line Classes with parameter $x=\frac{(q+1)^2}{3}$
Published in Adv. Math. 385 (2021) • View PublicationBIB
Cameron-Liebler line classes were introduced in \cite{CL}, and motivated by a question about orbits of collineation groups of $\PG(3,q)$. These line classes have appeared in different contexts under disguised names such as Boolean degree one functions, regular codes of covering radius one, and tight sets. In this paper we construct an infinite family of Cameron-Liebler line classes in $\PG(3,q)$ with new parameter $x=(q+1)^2/3$ for all prime powers $q$ congruent to 2 modulo 3. The examples obtained when $q$ is an odd power of two represent the first infinite family of Cameron-Liebler line classes in $\PG(3,q)$, $q$ even.
