Matchings and Clusters on Plabic Fences
Fix two positive braid words $β_+,β_-$, and let $\text{Conf}(β_+,β_-)$ be the corresponding (type A) double Bott-Samelson variety. Let $β$ be a double braid word containing $β_+,β_-$ as the top, bottom words. We consider the open cluster torus $T(C_β)$ associated to a triangulation $C_β$ in $\text{Conf}(β_+,β_-)$ from arXiv:1904.07992, and we identify these with weighted plabic fences, where the usual local moves on planar bipartite graphs naturally correspond to change of torus coordinates in double Bott-Samelson variety. Moreover, $T(C_β)$ can be parametrized explicitly by certain matrix products, and also has monomial coordinates given by the cluster variables, which are matrix minors. We interpret these minors as a generalized notion of perfect matchings on weighted plabic fences, which may not be reduced plabic graphs. Using this interpretation, we show that the cluster variables are given by "generalized minimal matchings", extending the minimal matchings from arXiv:1606.08383. Lastly, we derive a Chamber Ansatz formula for double Bott-Samelson varieties via face alternating products from dimer theory. In general, plabic fences are not reduced plabic graphs, yet we are able to extend and apply the standard tools such as local moves on plabic graphs, trips, and minimal matchings to them.
Quantitative Transversal Theorems in the Plane
Hadwiger's theorem is a Helly-type theorem involving common transversals to families of convex sets instead of common intersections. Subsequently, Pollack and Wenger identified a necessary and sufficient condition, called a consistent $k$-ordering, for the existence of a hyperplane transversal for sets in $\mathbb{R}^d$. We obtain a quantitative generalization of Hadwiger's theorem in $\mathbb{R}^2$, showing that compact convex sets in $\mathbb{R}^2$ with a quantitative version of consistent ordering have a transversal satisfying quantitative requirements. Our proof generalizes the methods in Wenger's proof of Hadwiger's theorem in $\mathbb{R}^2$. We also prove colorful versions of our results.
Enumerating $k$-Naples Parking Functions Through Catalan Objects
This paper studies a generalization of parking functions named $k$-Naples parking functions, where backward movement is allowed. One consequence of backward movement is that the number of ascending $k$-Naples is not the same as the number of descending $k$-Naples. This paper focuses on generalizing the bijections of ascending parking functions with combinatorial objects enumerated by the Catalan numbers in the setting of both ascending and descending $k$-Naples parking functions. These combinatorial objects include Dyck paths, binary trees, triangulations of polygons, and non-crossing partitions. Using these bijections, we enumerate both ascending and descending $k$-Naples parking functions.

Counterexamples to the Colorful Tverberg Conjecture for Hyperplanes
Published • View PublicationBIB
In 2008 Karasev conjectured that for every set of $r$ blue lines, $r$ green lines, and $r$ red lines in the plane, there exists a partition of them into $r$ colorful triples whose induced triangles intersect. We disprove this conjecture for every $r$ and extend the counterexamples to higher dimensions.
