The miniversal deformation of certain complete intersection monomial curves
The aim of this paper is to provide an explicit basis of the miniversal deformation of a monomial curve defined by a free semigroup -- these curves make up a notable family of complete intersection monomial curves. First, we dispense a general decomposition result of a basis of the miniversal deformation of any complete intersection monomial curve. As a consequence, we explicitly calculate this basis in the particular case of a monomial curve defined from a free semigroup. This explicit computation yields some estimates for the dimension of the moduli space of these family of curves.
On the consistency of score sheets of a round-robin football tournament
In this paper we introduce the submonoids $\mathscr{R}_n$, resp. $\mathscr{C}_n$, of the monoid $\mathscr{M}_n$ of ordered score sheets of a robin-round tournament played by $n$ teams for which the order is preserved after the leader team is disqualified, resp. all principal submatrices preserve the given ordering. We study (using both theoretical and computational methods) the most important invariants of these monoids, namely the Hilbert basis, the multiplicity, the Hilbert series and the Hilbert function. In particular we give a general description of the Hilbert basis of $\mathscr{R}_n$ and we show that $\mathscr{C}_n$ is Gorenstein for $n>2$.

We give an estimate of the minimal positive value of the Wilf function of a numerical semigroup in terms of its concentration. We describe necessary conditions for a numerical semigroup to have negative Eliahou number in terms of its multiplicity, concentration and Wilf function. Also, we show new examples of numerical semigroups with negative Eliahou number. In addition, we introduce the notion of highly dense numerical semigroup; this yields a new family of numerical semigroups satisfying the Wilf conjecture. Moreover, we use the Wilf function of a numerical semigroup to prove that the Eliahou number of a highly dense numerical semigroup is positive under certain additional hypothesis. In particular, these results provide new evidences in favour of the Wilf conjecture.
An extension of the Wilf conjecture to semimodules over a numerical semigroup
The aim of this paper is to propose an extension of the Wilf conjecture to semimodules over a numerical semigroup through a new approach toward the solution of the Wilf conjecture on numerical semigroups. The key point is the introduction of a new invariant that we call Wilf function of a semigroup that can be also defined for a semimodule over the semigroup. We also study the relation of the Wilf function of a semigroup and the Wilf function of certain semimodules associated to a gap of the semigroup. As a consequence, we obtain an alternative conjecture which also implies the Wilf conjecture. Finally, we show that the natural generalization of Wilf conjecture to semimodules over the semigroup does not work unless we used the Wilf function of the semimodule. In this direction, we propose several questions regarding the possible extensions of Wilf-type inequalities for semimodules.

In this paper we introduce the new concepts of supersymmetric and self-symmetric gaps of a numerical semigroup with two generators. Those concepts are based on certain symmetries of the gaps of the semigroup with respect to their Wilf number. We prove that the set of supersymmetric and self-symmetric gaps completely determines the semigroup and we compare this set with the fundamental gaps of the semigroup.

Let $S$ be a multigraded polynomial ring such that the degree of each variable is a unit vector; so $S$ is the homogeneous coordinate ring of a product of projective spaces. In this setting, we characterize the formal Laurent series which arise as Hilbert series of finitely generated $S$-modules.
Also we provide necessary conditions for a formal Laurent series to be the Hilbert series of a finitely generated module with a given depth. In the bigraded case (corresponding to the product of two projective spaces), we completely classify the Hilbert series of finitely generated modules of positive depth.

The set of (ordered) score sheets of a round-robin football tournament played between $n$ teams together with the pointwise addition has the structure of an affine monoid. In this paper we study (using both theoretical and computational methods) the most important invariants of this monoid, namely the Hilbert basis, the multiplicity, the Hilbert series and the Hilbert function.
Hilbert series of modules over positively graded polynomials rings
In this note, we give examples of formal power series satisfying certain conditions that cannot be realized as Hilbert series of finitely generated modules. This answers to the negative a question raised in a recent article by the second and the third author. On the other hand, we show that the answer is positive after multiplication with a scalar.

Let $Γ=\langle α, β\rangle$ be a numerical semigroup. In this article we consider the dual $Δ^*$ of a $Γ$-semimodule $Δ$; in particular we deduce a formula that expresses the minimal set of generators of $Δ^*$ in terms of the generators of $Δ$. As applications we compute the minimal graded free resolution of a graded $\mathbb{F}[t^α,t^β]$-submodule of $\mathbb{F}[t]$, and we investigate the structure of the selfdual $Γ$-semimodules, leading to a new way of counting them.

Let Γ=<α, β> be a numerical semigroup. In this article we consider several relations between the so-called Γ-semimodules and lattice paths from (0,α) to (β,0): we investigate isomorphism classes of Γ-semimodules as well as certain subsets of the set of gaps of Γ, and finally syzygies of Γ-semimodules. In particular we compute the number of Γ-semimodules which are isomorphic with their k-th syzygy for some k.

The aim of this paper is to introduce a method for computing Hilbert decompositions (and consequently the Hilbert depth) of a finitely generated multigraded module $M$ over the polynomial ring $K[X_1,..., X_n]$ by reducing the problem to the computation of the finite set of the new defined Hilbert partitions. Moreover, in the last section, we show that Hilbert partitions may also be used for computing the Stanley depth of the module $M$.

In this article we mainly consider the positively Z-graded polynomial ring R=F[X,Y] over an arbitrary field F and Hilbert series of finitely generated graded R-modules. The central result is an arithmetic criterion for such a series to be the Hilbert series of some R-module of positive depth. In the generic case, that is, the degrees of X and Y being coprime, this criterion can be formulated in terms of the numerical semigroup generated by those degrees.
