A complete dichotomy theorem on the sparse $t$-Uniform Hypergraphicality Problem
We prove a complete dichotomy theorem for the parameterized sparse $t$-uniform hypergraphic degree sequence problem, $\mathrm{sparse}\text{-}t\text{-}\mathrm{uni}\text{-}\mathrm{HDS}_{α',α}$. For any fixed $t \ge 3$, given parameters $0 \le α' \le α< t-1$, the input consists of degree sequences $D$ of length $n$ with degrees between $n^{α'}$ and $6n^α$. We show that the problem is NP-complete whenever $α' \le \frac{t(α- 1) + 1}{t - 1}$, and solvable in linear time when $α' > \frac{t(α- 1) + 1}{t - 1}$. This establishes a sharp boundary between polynomial-time solvable and NP-complete instances, thereby characterizing the computational complexity across all degree exponent regimes. The result extends the earlier NP-completeness of dense hypergraphicality to a unified framework covering both sparse and dense regimes, revealing that even extremely sparse instances (with maximum degree $o(n)$ but $Ω(n^{\frac{t-1}{t}})$) remain NP-complete. On the other hand, the $t$-uniform hypergraphicality solvable in linear time when the maximum degree is $o(n^{\frac{t-1}{t}})$. This dichotomy provides a comprehensive classification of the complexity landscape for hypergraphic degree sequences.

We call a proper edge coloring of a graph $G$ a B-coloring if every 4-cycle of $G$ is colored with four different colors. Let $q_B(G)$ denote the smallest number of colors needed for a B-coloring of $G$. Motivated by earlier papers on B-colorings, here we consider $q_B(G)$ for planar and outerplanar graphs in terms of the maximum degree $Δ= Δ(G)$. We prove that $q_B(G)\le 2Δ+8$ for planar graphs, $q_B(G)\le 2Δ$ for bipartite planar graphs and $q_B(G)\le Δ+1$ for outerplanar graphs with $Δ\ge 4$. We conjecture that, for $Δ$ sufficiently large, $q_B(G)\le 2Δ(G)$ for planar $G$ and $q_B(G)\le Δ(G)$ for outerplanar $G$.
B-colorings of planar and outerplanar graphs
A coloring of the edges of a graph $G$ in which every $K_{1,2}$ is totally multicolored is known as a proper coloring and a coloring of the edges of $G$ in which every $K_{1,2}$ and every $K_{2,2}$ is totally multicolored is called a B-coloring.
In this paper, we establish that a planar graph with maximum degree $Δ$ can be B-colored with $\max\{2Δ,32\}$ colors. This is best-possible for large $Δ$ because $K_{2,Δ}$ requires $2Δ$ colors. In addition, there is an example with $Δ=4$ that requires $12$ colors.
We also establish that an outerplanar graph with maximum degree $Δ$ can be B-colored with $\max\{Δ,6\}$ colors. This is almost best-possible because $Δ$ colors are necessary and there is an example with $Δ=4$ that requires $5$ colors.

Gyárfás conjectured in 2011 that every $r$-edge-colored $K_n$ contains a monochromatic component of bounded ("perhaps three") diameter on at least $n/(r-1)$ vertices.
Letzter proved this conjecture with diameter four.
In this note we improve the result in the case of $r=3$: We show that in every $3$-edge-coloring of $K_n$ either there is a monochromatic component of diameter at most three on at least $n/2$ vertices or every color class is spanning and has diameter at most four.

It is well-known that in every $r$-coloring of the edges of the complete bipartite graph $K_{n,n}$ there is a monochromatic connected component with at least ${2n\over r}$ vertices. It would be interesting to know whether we can additionally require that this large component be balanced; that is, is it true that in every $r$-coloring of $K_{n,n}$ there is a monochromatic component that meets both sides in at least $n/r$ vertices?
Over forty years ago, Gyárfás and Lehel and independently Faudree and Schelp proved that any $2$-colored $K_{n,n}$ contains a monochromatic $P_n$. Very recently, Bucić, Letzter and Sudakov proved that every $3$-colored $K_{n,n}$ contains a monochromatic connected matching (a matching whose edges are in the same connected component) of size $\lceil n/3 \rceil$. So the answer is strongly "yes" for $1\leq r\leq 3$.
We provide a short proof of (a non-symmetric version of) the original question for $1\leq r\leq 3$; that is, every $r$-coloring of $K_{m,n}$ has a monochromatic component that meets each side in a $1/r$ proportion of its part size. Then, somewhat surprisingly, we show that the answer to the question is "no" for all $r\ge 4$. For instance, there are $4$-colorings of $K_{n,n}$ where the largest balanced monochromatic component has $n/5$ vertices in both partite classes (instead of $n/4$). Our constructions are based on lower bounds for the $r$-color bipartite Ramsey number of $P_4$, denoted $f(r)$, which is the smallest integer $\ell$ such that in every $r$-coloring of the edges of $K_{\ell,\ell}$ there is a monochromatic path on four vertices. Furthermore, combined with earlier results, we determine $f(r)$ for every value of $r$.
On randomly generated intersecting hypergraphs
Let $c$ be a positive constant. We show that if $r=\lfloor cn^{1/3}\rfloor$ and the members of ${[n]\choose r}$ are chosen sequentially at random to form an intersecting hypergraph then with limiting probability $(1+c^3)^{-1}$, as $n\to\infty$, the resulting family will be of maximum size ${n-1\choose r-1}$.

Let $c$ be a positive constant. Suppose that $r=o(n^{5/12})$ and the members of $\binom{[n]}{r}$ are chosen sequentially at random to form an intersecting hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$. We show that whp $\mathcal{H}$ consists of a simple hypergraph $\mathcal{S}$ of size $Θ(r/n^{1/3})$, a distinguished vertex $v$ and all $r$-sets which contain $v$ and meet every edge of $\mathcal{S}$. This is a continuation of the study of such random intersecting systems started in [Electron. J. Combin, (2003) R29] where the case $r=O(n^{1/3})$ was considered. To obtain the stated result we continue to investigate this question in the range $ω(n^{1/3})\le r \le o(n^{5/12})$.

In this paper a random graph model $G_{\mathbb{Z}^2_N,p_d}$ is introduced, which is a combination of fixed torus grid edges in $(\mathbb{Z}/N \mathbb{Z})^2$ and some additional random ones. The random edges are called long, and the probability of having a long edge between vertices $u,v\in(\mathbb{Z}/N \mathbb{Z})^2$ with graph distance $d$ on the torus grid is $p_d=c/Nd$, where $c$ is some constant. We show that, {\em whp}, the diameter $D(G_{\mathbb{Z}^2_N,p_d})=Θ(\log N)$. Moreover, we consider non-monotonous bootstrap percolation on $G_{\mathbb{Z}^2_N,p_d}$. We prove the presence of phase transitions in mean-field approximation and provide fairly sharp bounds on the error of the critical parameters. Our model addresses interesting mathematical questions of non-monotonous bootstrap percolation, and it is motivated by recent results of brain research.
Uniform hypergraphs containing no grids
A hypergraph is called an r by r grid if it is isomorphic to a pattern of r horizontal and r vertical lines. Three sets form a triangle if they pairwise intersect in three distinct singletons. A hypergraph is linear if every pair of edges meet in at most one vertex. In this paper we construct large linear r-hypergraphs which contain no grids. Moreover, a similar construction gives large linear r-hypergraphs which contain neither grids nor triangles. For r at least 4 our constructions are almost optimal. These investigations are also motivated by coding theory: we get new bounds for optimal superimposed codes and designs.
