Characterization of order structures avoiding three-term arithmetic progressions
It is known that the set of all nonnegative integers may be equipped with a total order that is chaotic in the sense that there is no monotone three-term arithmetic progressions. Such chaotic order must be so complicated that the resulting ordered set cannot be order isomorphic to the set of all nonnegative integers or the set of all integers with the standard order. In this paper, we completely characterize order structures of chaotic orders on the set of all nonnegative integers, as well as on the set of all integers and on the set of all rational numbers.
Ohno type relations for classical and finite multiple zeta-star values
Published • View PublicationBIB
Ohno's relation is a generalization of both the sum formula and the duality formula for multiple zeta values. Oyama gave a similar relation for finite multiple zeta values, defined by Kaneko and Zagier. In this paper, we prove relations of similar nature for both multiple zeta-star values and finite multiple zeta-star values. Our proof for multiple zeta-star values uses the linear part of Kawashima's relation.

Restricted sum formula for finite and symmetric multiple zeta values
Published in Pacific J. Math. 303 (2019) 325-335 • View PublicationBIB
The sum formula for finite and symmetric multiple zeta values, established by Wakabayashi and the authors, implies that if the weight and depth are fixed and the specified component is required to be more than one, then the values sum up to a rational multiple of the analogue of the Riemann zeta value. We prove that the result remains true if we further demand that the component should be more than two or that another component should also be more than one.

Sum formula for finite multiple zeta values
Published in J. Math. Soc. Japan 67 (2015), 1069-1076 • View PublicationBIB
The sum formula is one of the most well-known relations among multiple zeta values. This paper proves a conjecture of Kaneko predicting that an analogous formula holds for finite multiple zeta values.
Combinatorial remarks on the cyclic sum formula for multiple zeta values
Published in Journal of Integer Sequences, vol. 14 (2011), Article 11.2.4 • Search Publication
The multiple zeta values are generalizations of the values of the Riemann zeta function at positive integers. They are known to satisfy a number of relations, among which are the cyclic sum formula. The cyclic sum formula can be stratified via linear operators defined by the second and third authors. We give the number of relations belonging to each stratum by combinatorial arguments.

The Bowman-Bradley theorem for multiple zeta-star values
Published in J. Number Theory 132 (2012), no. 9, 1984-2002 • View PublicationBIB
The Bowman-Bradley theorem asserts that the multiple zeta values at the sequences obtained by inserting a fixed number of twos between 3,1,...,3,1 add up to a rational multiple of a power of pi. We establish its counterpart for multiple zeta-star values by showing an identity in a non-commutative polynomial algebra introduced by Hoffman.
