Semigroup identities of tropical matrices through matrix ranks
We prove the conjecture that, for any $n$, the monoid of all $n \times n$ tropical matrices satisfies nontrivial semigroup identities. To this end, we prove that the factor rank of a large enough power of a tropical matrix does not exceed the tropical rank of the original matrix.
Tropical plactic algebra, the cloaktic monoid, and semigroup representations

A new tropical plactic algebra is introduced in which the Knuth relations are inferred from the underlying semiring arithmetics, encapsulating the ubiquitous plactic monoid $\mathcal{P}_n$. This algebra manifests a natural framework for accommodating representations of $\mathcal{P}_n$, or equivalently of Young tableaux, and its moderate coarsening -- the cloaktic monoid $\mathcal{K}_n$ and the co-cloaktic $ ^{\operatorname{co}}\mathcal{K}_n$. The faithful linear representations of $\mathcal{K}_n$ and $\, ^{\operatorname{co}} \mathcal{K}_n$ by tropical matrices, which constitute a tropical plactic algebra, are shown to provide linear representations of the plactic monoid. To this end the paper develops a special type of configuration tableaux, corresponding bijectively to semi-standard Young tableaux. These special tableaux allow a systematic encoding of combinatorial properties in numerical algebraic ways, including algorithmic benefits. The interplay between these algebraic-combinatorial structures establishes a profound machinery for exploring semigroup attributes, in particular satisfying of semigroup identities. This machinery is utilized here to prove that $\mathcal{K}_n$ and $\, ^{\operatorname{co}} \mathcal{K}_n$ admit all the semigroup identities satisfied by $n \times n$ triangular tropical matrices, which holds also for $\mathcal{P}_3$.
The ultimate rank of tropical matrices

A tropical matrix is a matrix defined over the max-plus semiring. For such matrices, there exist several non-coinciding notions of rank: the row rank, the column rank, the Schein/Barvinok rank, the Kapranov rank, or the tropical rank, among others. In the present paper, we show that there exists a natural notion of ultimate rank for the powers of a tropical matrix, which does not depend on the underlying notion of rank. Furthermore, we provide a simple formula for the ultimate rank of a matrix which can therefore be computed in polynomial time. Then we turn our attention to finitely generated semigroups of matrices, for which our notion of ultimate rank is generalized naturally. We provide both combinatorial and geometric characterizations of semigroups having maximal ultimate rank. As a byproduct, we obtain a polynomial algorithm to decide if the ultimate rank of a finitely generated semigroup is maximal.
Superboolean rank and the size of the largest triangular submatrix of a random matrix

We explore the size of the largest (permuted) triangular submatrix of a random matrix, and more precisely its asymptotical behavior as the size of the ambient matrix tends to infinity. The importance of such permuted triangular submatrices arises when dealing with certain combinatorial algebraic settings in which these submatrices determine the rank of the ambient matrix, and thus attract a special attention.
Boolean Representations of Matroids and Lattices
We introduce a new representation concept for lattices by boolean matrices, and utilize it to prove that any matroid is boolean representable. We show that such a representation can be easily extracted from a representation of the associated lattice of flats of the matroid, leading also to a tighter bound on the representation's size. Consequently, we obtain a linkage of boolean representations with geometry in a very natural way.
New Representations of Matroids and Generalizations
We extend the notion of matroid representations by matrices over fields and consider new representations of matroids by matrices over finite semirings, more precisely over the boolean and the superboolean semirings. This idea of representations is generalized naturally to include also hereditary collections. We show that a matroid that can be directly decomposed as matroids, each of which is representable over a field, has a boolean representation, and more generally that any arbitrary hereditary collection is superboolean-representable.
Layered Tropical Mathematics

Generalizing supertropical algebras, we present a "layered" structure, "sorted" by a semiring which permits varying ghost layers, and indicate how it is more amenable than the "standard" supertropical construction in factorizations of polynomials, description of varieties, properties of the resultant, and for mathematical analysis and calculus, in particular with respect to multiple roots of polynomials. Explicit examples and comparisons are given for various sorting semirings such as the natural numbers and the positive rational numbers, and we see how this theory relates to some recent developments in the tropical literature such as "characteristic 1," "analytification," and "hyperfields."
Supertropical Matrix Algebra II: Solving tropical equations

We continue the study of matrices over a supertropical algebra, proving the existence of a tangible adjoint of $A$, which provides the unique right (resp. left) quasi-inverse maximal with respect to the right (resp. left) quasi-identity matrix corresponding to $A$; this provides a unique maximal (tangible) solution to supertropical vector equations, via a version of Cramer's rule. We also describe various properties of this tangible adjoint, and use it to compute supertropical eigenvectors, thereby producing an example in which an $n\times n$ matrix has $n$ distinct supertropical eigenvalues but their supertropical eigenvectors are tropically dependent.

The objective of this paper is to develop a general algebraic theory of supertropical matrix algebra, extending [11]. Our main results are as follows:
* The tropical determinant (i.e., permanent) is multiplicative when all the determinants involved are tangible.
* There exists an adjoint matrix $\adj{A}$ such that the matrix $A \adj{A}$ behaves much like the identity matrix (times $|A|$).
* Every matrix $A$ is a supertropical root of its Hamilton-Cayley polynomial $f_A$. If these roots are distinct, then $A$ is conjugate (in a certain supertropical sense) to a diagonal matrix.
* The tropical determinant of a matrix $A$ is a ghost iff the rows of $A$ are tropically dependent, iff the columns of $A$ are tropically dependent.
* Every root of $f_A$ is a "supertropical" eigenvalue of $A$ (appropriately defined), and has a tangible supertropical eigenvector.

In this paper we further develop the theory of matrices over the extended tropical semiring. Introducing a notion of tropical linear dependence allows for a natural definition of matrix rank in a sense that coincides with the notions of tropical regularity and invertibility.

This paper introduces a new structure of commutative semiring, generalizing the tropical semiring, and having an arithmetic that modifies the standard tropical operations, i.e. summation and maximum. Although our framework is combinatorial, notions of regularity and invertibility arise naturally for matrices over this semiring; we show that a tropical matrix is invertible if and only if it is regular.
Duality of Tropical Curves
Duality of curves is one of the important aspects of the ``classical'' algebraic geometry. In this paper, using this foundation, the duality of tropical polynomials is constructed to introduce the duality of Non-Archimedean curves. Using the development of ``mechanism'' which is based on ``distortion'' values and their matrices, we discuss some aspects refereing to quadrics with respect to their dual objects. This topic includes also the induced dual subdivision of Newton Polytope and its compatible properties. Finally, a regularity of tropical curves in the duality sense is generally defined and, studied for families of tropical quadrics.
