A method to obtain all-order asymptotic results for the coefficients of perturbative expansions in zero-dimensional quantum field is described. The focus is on the enumeration of the number of skeleton or primitive diagrams of a certain QFT and its asymptotics. The procedure heavily applies techniques from singularity analysis and is related to resurgence. To utilize singularity analysis, a representation of the zero-dimensional path integral as a generalized hyperelliptic curve is deduced. As applications the full asymptotic expansions of the number of disconnected, connected, 1PI and skeleton Feynman diagrams in various theories are given.
Analysis of the gift exchange problem

In the gift exchange game there are n players and n wrapped gifts. When a player's number is called, that person can either choose one of the remaining wrapped gifts, or can "steal" a gift from someone who has already unwrapped it, subject to the restriction that no gift can be stolen more than a total of sigma times. The problem is to determine the number of ways that the game can be played out, for given values of sigma and n. Formulas and asymptotic expansions are given for these numbers. This work was inspired in part by a 2005 remark by Robert A. Proctor in the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences.

A Barak-Erdős graph is a directed acyclic version of the Erdős-Rényi random graph. It is obtained by performing independent bond percolation with parameter $p$ on the complete graph with vertices $\{1,...,n\}$, in which the edge between two vertices $i<j$ is directed from $i$ to $j$. The length of the longest path in this graph grows linearly with the number of vertices, at rate $C(p)$. In this article, we use a coupling between Barak-Erdős graphs and infinite-bin models to provide explicit estimates on $C(p)$. More precisely, we prove that the front of an infinite-bin model grows at linear speed, and that this speed can be obtained as the sum of a series. Using these results, we prove the analyticity of $C$ for $p >1/2$, and compute its power series expansion. We also obtain the first two terms of the asymptotic expansion of $C$ as $p \to 0$, using a coupling with branching random walks.

In this work we consider two different aspects of weighted walks in cones. To begin we examine a particular weighted model, known as the Gouyou-Beauchamps model. Using the theory of analytic combinatorics in several variables we obtain the asymptotic expansion of the total number of Gouyou-Beauchamps walks confined to the quarter plane. Our formulas are parametrized by weights and starting point, and we identify six different asymptotic regimes (called universality classes) which arise according to the values of the weights. The weights allowed in this model satisfy natural algebraic identities permitting an expression of the weighted generating function in terms of the generating function of unweighted walks on the same steps. The second part of this article explains these identities combinatorially for walks in arbitrary cones and dimensions, and provides a characterization of universality classes for general weighted walks. Furthermore, we describe an infinite set of models with non-D-finite generating function.
Mode and Edgeworth expansion for the Ewens distribution and the Stirling numbers
We provide asymptotic expansions for the Stirling numbers of the first kind and, more generally, the Ewens (or Karamata-Stirling) distribution. Based on these expansions, we obtain some new results on the asymptotic properties of the mode and the maximum of the Stirling numbers and the Ewens distribution. For arbitrary $θ>0$ and for all sufficiently large $n\in\mathbb N$, the unique maximum of the Ewens probability mass function $$ \mathbb L_n(k) = \frac{θ^k}{θ(θ+1)\ldots(θ+n-1)} \genfrac{[}{]}{0pt}{}{n}{k}, \quad k=1,\ldots,n, $$ is attained at $k= \left\lfloor θ\log n + \frac{θΓ'(θ)}{Γ(θ)} - \frac 12\right\rfloor$ or $k=\left\lceil θ\log n + \frac{θΓ'(θ)}{Γ(θ)} + \frac 12\right\rceil$. We prove that the mode is $$ k=\left\lfloor θ\log n - \frac{θΓ'(θ)}{Γ(θ)}\right\rfloor $$ for a set of $n$'s of asymptotic density $1$, yet this formula is not true for infinitely many $n$'s.

In this note the precise minimum number of key comparisons any dual-pivot quickselect algorithm (without sampling) needs on average is determined. The result is in the form of exact as well as asymptotic formulæ of this number of a comparison-optimal algorithm. It turns out that the main terms of these asymptotic expansions coincide with the main terms of the corresponding analysis of the classical quickselect, but still---as this was shown for Yaroslavskiy quickselect---more comparisons are needed in the dual-pivot variant. The results are obtained by solving a second order differential equation for the generating function obtained from a recursive approach.

We enumerate the connected graphs that contain a number of edges growing linearly with respect to the number of vertices. So far, only the first term of the asymptotics and a bound on the error were known. Using analytic combinatorics, ie generating function manipulations, we derive a formula for the coefficients of the complete asymptotic expansion. The same result is derived for connected multigraphs.

We study the number of connected graphs with $n$ vertices that cannot be written as the cartesian product of two graphs with fewer vertices. We give an upper bound which implies that for large $n$ almost all graphs are both connected and cartesian prime. For graphs with an even number of vertices, a full asymptotic expansion is obtained. Our method, inspired by Knopfmacher's theory of arithmetical semigroups, is based on reduction to Wright's asymptotic expansion for the number of connected graphs with $n$ vertices.
Full asymptotic expansion for Polya structures
In order to obtain the full asymptotic expansion for Polya trees, i.e. rooted unlabelled and non-plane trees, Flajolet and Sedgewick observed that their specification could be seen as a slight disturbance of the functional equation satisfied by the Cayley tree function. Such an approach highlights the complicated formal expressions with some combinatorial explanation. They initiated this process in their book but they spared the technical part by only exhibiting the first- order approximation. In this paper we exhibit the university of the method and obtain the full asymptotic expansions for several varieties of trees. We then focus on three different varieties of rooted, unlabelled and non-plane trees, Polya trees, rooted identity trees and hierarchies, in order to calculate explicitly their full singular expansions and asymptotic expansions.

The algebraic properties of formal power series, whose coefficients show factorial growth and admit a certain well-behaved asymptotic expansion, are discussed. It is shown that these series form a subring of $\mathbb{R}[[x]]$. This subring is also closed under composition and inversion of power series. An 'asymptotic derivation' is defined which maps a power series to the asymptotic expansion of its coefficients. Product and chain rules for this derivation are deduced. With these rules asymptotic expansions of the coefficients of implicitly defined power series can be obtained. The full asymptotic expansions of the number of connected chord diagrams and the number of simple permutations are given as examples.

Random Partitions and the Quantum Benjamin-Ono Hierarchy
We derive exact and asymptotic results for random partitions from general results in the semi-classical analysis of coherent states applied to the classical periodic Benjamin-Ono equation at critical regularity $s= -1/2$. We find classical $dF_{\star |v} (c| \overline{\varepsilon})$ and quantum $d\hat{F}^{η_{NS}}( c | \hbar, \overline{\varepsilon})|_Ψ$ conserved densities for this system with dispersion coefficient $\overline{\varepsilon}$ extending Nazarov-Sklyanin (2013). For quantum stationary states, this conserved density is $dF_λ(c | \varepsilon_2, \varepsilon_1)$ the Rayleigh measure of the profile of a partition $λ$ of anisotropy $(\varepsilon_2, \varepsilon_1) \in \mathbb{C}^2$ for $\hbar = - \varepsilon_1 \varepsilon_2$, $\overline{\varepsilon}= \varepsilon_1 + \varepsilon_2$ invariant under $\varepsilon_2 \longleftrightarrow \varepsilon_1$. As Jack polynomials are the quantum stationary states and Stanley's Cauchy kernel (1989) is the reproducing kernel, the random values of the quantum periodic Benjamin-Ono hierarchy in a coherent state $Υ_v ( \cdot | \hbar)$ are a "Jack measure" on partitions, a dispersive generalization of Okounkov's Schur measures (1999). By our general results for coherent states, we have concentration on a limit shape as $\hbar \rightarrow 0$, the classical conserved density at $v$, and quantum fluctuations are an explicit Gaussian field. Our results follow from an enumerative asymptotic expansion in $\hbar$ and $\overline{\varepsilon}$ of joint cumulants over new combinatorial objects we call "ribbon paths". Our results reflect the fact that at fixed $\hbar>0$ the weight defining Fock space is already a fractional Brownian motion of variance $\hbar$ and Hurst index $(-s) - \tfrac{1}{2} \dim \mathbb{T} = + \tfrac{1}{2} - \tfrac{1}{2} = 0.$

In this paper, we compute asymptotics for the determinant of the combinatorial Laplacian on a sequence of $d$-dimensional orthotope square lattices as the number of vertices in each dimension grows at the same rate. It is related to the number of spanning trees by the well-known matrix tree theorem. Asymptotics for $2$ and $3$ component rooted spanning forests in these graphs are also derived. Moreover, we express the number of spanning trees in a $2$-dimensional square lattice in terms of the one in a $2$-dimensional discrete torus and also in the quartered Aztec diamond. As a consequence, we find an asymptotic expansion of the number of spanning trees in a subgraph of $\mathbb{Z}^2$ with a triangular boundary.
Two-colour balanced affine urn models with multiple drawings I: central limit theorems

This is a research endeavor in two parts. We study a class of balanced urn schemes on balls of two colours (say white and black). At each drawing, a sample of size $m\ge 1$ is drawn from the urn, and ball addition rules are applied. We consider these multiple drawings under sampling with or without replacement. We further classify ball addition matrices according to the structure of the expected value into affine and nonaffine classes. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a scheme to be in the affine subclass. For the affine subclass, we get explicit results for the expected value and second moment of the number of white balls after $n$ steps and an asymptotic expansion of the variance. Moreover, we uncover a martingale structure, amenable to a central limit theorem formulation. This unifies several earlier works focused on special cases of urn models with multiple drawings. The class is parametrized by $Λ$, specified by the ratio of the two eigenvalues of a "reduced" ball replacement matrix and the sample size. We categorize the class into small-index urns ($Λ<\frac 1 2$), critical-index urns ($Λ= \frac 1 2$), and large-index urns ($Λ> \frac 1 2$), and triangular urns. In the present paper (Part I), we obtain central limit theorems for small- and critical-index urns and prove almost-sure convergence for triangular and large-index urns. In a companion paper (Part II), we discuss the moment structure of large-index urns and triangular urns.
Local asymptotic Euler-Maclaurin expansion for Riemann sums over a semi-rational polyhedron

Consider the Riemann sum of a smooth compactly supported function h(x) on a polyhedron in R^d, sampled at the points of the lattice Z^d/t. We give an asymptotic expansion when t goes to infinity, writing each coefficient of this expansion as a sum indexed by the faces f of the polyhedron, where the f-term is the integral over f of a differential operator applied to the function h(x). In particular, if a Euclidean scalar product is chosen, we prove that the differential operator for the face f can be chosen (in a unique way) to involve only normal derivatives to f. Our formulas are valid for a semi-rational polyhedron and a real sampling parameter t, if we allow for step-polynomial coefficients, instead of just constant ones.

Three-dimensional random tensor models are a natural generalization of the celebrated matrix models. The associated tensor graphs, or 3D maps, can be classified with respect to a particular integer or half-integer, the degree of the respective graph. In this paper we analyze the general term of the asymptotic expansion in N, the size of the tensor, of a particular random tensor model, the multi-orientable tensor model. We perform their enumeration and we establish which are the dominant configurations of a given degree.
A Note on Extended Binomial Coefficients
We study the distribution of the extended binomial coefficients by deriving a complete asymptotic expansion with uniform error terms. We obtain the expansion from a local central limit theorem and we state all coefficients explicitly as sums of Hermite polynomials and Bernoulli numbers.
The Non-Orientable Map Asymptotics Constant $p_g$
Using the pfaffian structure of the generating series for locally orientable maps, we show that the generating series satsifies a nonlinear differential equation called the BKP equation. Using this we are able to derive a cubic differential equation which is satisfied by the generating series for locally orientable triangulations. As a result, we prove a conjecture of Garoufalidis and Mariño concerning the constant $p_g$ which appears in asymptotic formulas for a variety of rooted maps on non-orientable surfaces. This allows one to determine the asymptotic expansion for $p_g$ up to an unknown Stokes constant.
Completely effective error bounds for Stirling Numbers of the first and second kind via Poisson Approximation

We provide completely effective error estimates for Stirling numbers of the first and second kind, denoted by $s(n,m)$ and $S(n,m)$, respectively. These bounds are useful for values of $m \geq n - O(\sqrt{n})$. An application of our Theorem 5 yields, for example, \[ s(10^{12},\ 10^{12}-2\times 10^6)/10^{35664464} \in [ 1.87669, 1.876982 ], \] \[ S(10^{12},\ 10^{12}-2\times 10^6)/10^{35664463} \in [ 1.30121, 1.306975 ]. \] The bounds are obtained via Chen-Stein Poisson approximation, using an interpretation of Stirling numbers as the number of ways of placing non-attacking rooks on a chess board.
As a corollary to Theorem 5, summarized in Proposition 1, we obtain two simple and explicit asymptotic formulas, one for each of $s(n,m)$ and $S(n,m)$, for the parametrization $m = n - t\, n^a$, $0 \leq a \leq \frac{1}{2}.$ These asymptotic formulas agree with the ones originally observed by Moser and Wyman in the range $0<a<\frac{1}{2}$, and they connect with a recent asymptotic expansion by Louchard for $\frac{1}{2}<a < 1$, hence filling the gap at $a = \frac{1}{2}$.
We also provide a generalization applicable to rook and file numbers.
