Moments of the Crank Statistic for $t$-Core Partitions and Overpartitions
Recently, Kang, Kim, and Lee \cite{Kang2026} developed a unified moment-trace framework for symmetric partition statistics using complete Bell polynomials and their inversion formula. In this paper, we apply this framework to crank statistics for $t$-core partitions and overpartitions. For $t\in\{5,7,11,17,19\}$, we show that the normalized even crank moment generating functions for $t$-core partitions admit partition-trace representations in terms of the functions $D^{(t)}_{2s}(τ)$, together with suitable Bernoulli-number shifts. We also establish inverse trace formulas that recover $D^{(t)}_{2s}(τ)$ from the corresponding normalized even crank moments. For overpartitions, we obtain analogous trace and inverse-trace identities for the normalized even moments associated with the first and second residual crank generating functions. As applications, we use complete Bell polynomials and their inversion formula to obtain explicit expressions for the $t$-core partition numbers and overpartitions number in terms of sums involving divisor function.

Moments of partition statistics, Bell polynomials and Eisenstein-type series
We develop a systematic method to express generating functions for moments of combinatorial statistics in terms of partition traces. We employ an algebraic approach based on the complete Bell polynomials and their inversion formula, alongside an analytic approach via Faà di Bruno's formula. Our approach can be applied to a wide class of combinatorial statistics, such as the largest part of an integer partition, the partition crank and rank, and the unimodal sequence rank.
On the number of missing integers in partitions
In the preceding decade, Andrews and Newman resurrected the concept of a `minimal excludant' of a partition ($mex$, for short), namely, the least positive missing integer in a partition. Subsequently, several authors have not only studied its generalizations, analogues and the like but also connected the mex to several important partition statistics. In the present paper, we study the set of missing positive integers as a whole, in two different classes of partitions, namely, unrestricted partitions and overpartitions. To be precise, a $missing \ integer$ is a positive integer that is less than the largest part of a partition and which does not occur as a part. In particular, we examine the number of partitions with a given number of missing integers, determine congruences for two pairs of functions associated to them, and propose three bias type inequality conjectures for these functions.

Partition analysis and the little Göllnitz identites
This work follows the spirit of Andrews' series of papers on Partition Analysis. In $2011$, Savage and Sills found new sum sides for the little Göllnitz identities and provided their partition interpretations. It turns out that similar companions exist for a mod $8$ partition identity due to Andrews. In this work, we use MacMahon's Partition Analysis to study partitions related to these identities. We find refined generating functions for them, where we keep track of the size of each part. Finally, by considering the alternating sum and Schmidt weight, we show the application of these refined functions in the study of partition statistics.

The Littlewood decomposition via colored Frobenius partitions
The Littlewood decomposition for partitions is a well-known bijection between partitions and pairs of $t$-core and $t$-quotient partitions. This decomposition can be described in several ways, such as the $t$-abacus method of James or the biinfinite word method of Garvan, Kim, and Stanton. In a recent study, Frobenius partitions have proven to be a highly useful tool in dealing with partition statistics related to $t$-core partitions. Motivated by this study, in this paper, we present an alternative description of the Littlewood decomposition using Frobenius partitions. We also apply our approach to self-conjugate partitions and doubled distinct partitions, and give new characterizations of their $t$-cores and $t$-quotients.

Distribution of Alternating Sums of Parts in Partitions
Recently, many authors have investigated how various partition statistics distribute as the size of the partition grows. In this work, we look at a particular statistic arising from the recent rejuvenation of MacMahon's partition analysis. More specifically, we compute all the moments of the alternating sum statistic for partitions. We prove this results using the Circle Method. We also propose a general framework for studying further questions of this type that may avoid some of the complications that arise in traditional approaches to the distributions of partition statistics, and we comment on the utility, comparative ease and opportunities to generalize to very broad settings.

A polynomial bosonic form of statistical configuration sums and the odd/even minimal excludant in integer partitions
Published in Annals of Combinatorics, Published online: 06 February 2026, 31 pages • View PublicationBIB
Inspired by the study of the minimal excludant in integer partitions by G.E. Andrews and D. Newman, we introduce a pair of new partition statistics, sqrank and rerank. They are related to a polynomial bosonic form of statistical configuration sums for an integrable cellular automaton. For all nonnegative integers $n$, we prove that the partitions of $n$ on which sqrank or rerank takes on a particular value, say $r$, are equinumerous with the partitions of $n$ on which the odd/even minimal exclutant takes on the corresponding value, $2r+1$ or $2r+2$.

Sequences of odd length in strict partitions II: the $2$-measure and refinements of Euler's theorem
The number of sequences of odd length in strict partitions (denoted as $\mathrm{sol}$), which plays a pivotal role in the first paper of this series, is investigated in different contexts, both new and old. Namely, we first note a direct link between $\mathrm{sol}$ and the $2$-measure of strict partitions when the partition length is given. This notion of $2$-measure of a partition was introduced quite recently by Andrews, Bhattacharjee, and Dastidar. We establish a $q$-series identity in three ways, one of them features a Franklin-type involuion. Secondly, still with this new partition statistic $\mathrm{sol}$ in mind, we revisit Euler's partition theorem through the lens of Sylvester-Bessenrodt. Two new bivariate refinements of Euler's theorem are established, which involve notions such as MacMahon's 2-modular Ferrers diagram, the Durfee side of partitions, and certain alternating index of partitions that we believe is introduced here for the first time.

On the total number of ones associated with cranks of partitions modulo 11
In 2021, Andrews mentioned that George Beck introduced partition statistics $M_w(r,m,n)$, which denote the total number of ones in the partition of $n$ with crank congruent to $r$ modulo $m$. Recently, a number of congruences and identities involving $M_w(r,m,n)$ for some small $m$ have been developed. We establish the 11-dissection of the generating functions for $M_ω(r,11,n)-M_ω(11-r,11,n)$, where $r=1,2,3,4,5$. In particular, we discover a beautiful identity involving $M_ω(r,11,11n+6)$.
Zeros of Hook Polynomials and Related Questions
Published in SIGMA 21 (2025), 026, 14 pages • View PublicationBIB
We study the zero set of polynomials built from partition statistics, complementing earlier work in this direction by Boyer, Goh, Parry, and others. In particular, addressing a question of Males with two of the authors, we prove asymptotics for the values of $t$-hook polynomials away from an annulus and isolated zeros of a theta function. We also discuss some open problems and present data on other polynomial families, including those associated to deformations of Rogers-Ramanujan functions.

Transformation properties of Andrews-Beck $NT$ functions and generalized Appell-Lerch series
In 2021, Andrews mentioned that George Beck introduced a partition statistic $NT(r,m,n)$ which is related to Dyson's rank statistic. Motivated by Andrews's work, scholars have established a number of congruences and identities involving $NT(r,m,n)$. In this paper, we strengthen and extend a recent work of Mao on the transformation properties of the $NT$ function and provide an analogy of Hickerson and Mortenson's work on the rank function. As an application, we demonstrate how one can deduce from our results many identities involving $NT(r,m,n)$ and another crank-analog statistic $M_ω(r,m,n)$. As a related result, some new properties of generalized Appell-Lerch series are given.

Type B Set partitions, an analogue of restricted growth functions
In this work, we study type B set partitions for a given specific positive integer $k$ defined over $\langle n\rangle=\{-n, -(n-1),\cdots -1,0,1,\cdots n-1,n\}$. We found a few generating functions of type B analogue for some of the set partition statistics defined by Wachs, White and Steingrimsson for partitions over positive integers $[n] =\{1,2,\cdots n\}$, both for standard and ordered set partitions respectively. We extended the idea of restricted growth functions utilized by Wachs and White for set partitions over $[n]$, in the scenario of $\langle n\rangle$ and called the analogue as Signed Restricted Growth Function (SRGF). We discussed analogues of major index for type B partitions in terms of SRGF. We found an analogue of Foata bijection and reduced matrix for type B set partitions as done by Sagan for set partitions of $[n]$ with sepcific number of blocks $k$. We conclude with some open questions regarding the type B analogue of some well known results already done in case of set partitions of $[n]$.

On partitions with bounded largest part and fixed integral GBG-rank modulo primes
Published in Annals of Combinatorics (2024) • View PublicationBIB
In 2009, Berkovich and Garvan introduced a new partition statistic called the GBG-rank modulo $t$ which is a generalization of the well-known BG-rank. In this paper, we use the Littlewood decomposition of partitions to study partitions with bounded largest part and fixed integral value of GBG-rank modulo primes. As a consequence, we obtain new elegant generating function formulas for unrestricted partitions, self-conjugate partitions, and partitions whose parts repeat a finite number of times.
On the combinatorics of r-chain minimal and maximal excludants
The minimal excludant (mex) of a partition was introduced by Grabner and Knopfmacher under the name `least gap' and was revived by a couple of papers due to Andrews and Newman. It has been widely studied in recent years together with the complementary partition statistic maximal excludant (maex), first introduced by Chern. Among such recent works, the first and second authors along with Maji introduced and studied the $r$-chain minimal excludants (r-chain mex) which led to a new generalization of Euler's classical partition theorem and the sum-of-mex identity of Andrews and Newman. In this paper, we first give combinatorial proofs for these two results on r-chain mex. Then we introduce the r-chain maximal excludants (r-chain maex) and establish the associated identity for the sum of r-chain maex over all partitions, both analytically and combinatorially.

Refining Blecher and Knopfmacher's Integer Partition Fixed Points
Published in Enumer. Combin. Appl. 4:4 (2024) S2R26 • View PublicationBIB
Recently, Blecher and Knopfmacher explored the notion of fixed points in integer partitions. Here, we distinguish partitions with a fixed point by which value is fixed and analyze the resulting triangle of integers. In particular, we confirm various identities for diagonal sums, row sums, and antidiagonal sums (which are finite for this triangle) and establish a four-term recurrence for triangle entries analogous to Pascal's lemma for the triangle of binomial coefficients. The partition statistics crank and mex arise. All proofs are combinatorial.

Diagonal operators, $q$-Whittaker functions and rook theory
We discuss the problem posed by Bender, Coley, Robbins and Rumsey of enumerating the number of subspaces which have a given profile with respect to a linear operator over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$. We solve this problem in the case where the operator is diagonalizable. The solution leads us to a new class of polynomials $b_{μν}(q)$ indexed by pairs of integer partitions. These polynomials have several interesting specializations and can be expressed as positive sums over semistandard tableaux. We present a new correspondence between set partitions and semistandard tableaux. A close analysis of this correspondence reveals the existence of several new set partition statistics which generate the polynomials $b_{μν}(q)$; each such statistic arises from a Mahonian statistic on multiset permutations. The polynomials $b_{μν}(q)$ are also given a description in terms of coefficients in the monomial expansion of $q$-Whittaker symmetric functions which are specializations of Macdonald polynomials. We express the Touchard--Riordan generating polynomial for chord diagrams by number of crossings in terms of $q$-Whittaker functions. We also introduce a class of $q$-Stirling numbers defined in terms of the polynomials $b_{μν}(q)$ and present connections with $q$-rook theory in the spirit of Garsia and Remmel.

Asymptotics of Reciprocal Supernorm Partition Statistics
We consider two multiplicative statistics on the set of integer partitions: the norm of a partition, which is the product of its parts, and the supernorm of a partition, which is the product of the prime numbers $p_i$ indexed by its parts $i$. We introduce and study new statistics that are sums of reciprocals of supernorms on three statistical ensembles of partitions, labelled by their size $|λ|=n$, their perimeter equaling $n$, and their largest part equaling $n$. We show that the cumulative statistics of the reciprocal supernorm for each of the three ensembles are asymptotic to $e^γ \log n$ as $n \to \infty$.

Some identities on Lin-Peng-Toh's partition statistic of $k$-colored partitions
Recently, Andrews proved two conjectures on a partition statistic introduced by Beck. Very recently, Chern established some results on weighted rank and crank moments and proved many Andrews-Beck type congruences. Motivated by Andrews and Chern's work, Lin, Peng and To introduced a partition statistic of $k$-colored partitions $NB_k(r,m,n)$ which counts the total number of parts of $π^{(1)}$ in each $k$-colored partition $π$ of $n$ with ${\rm crank}_k(π)$ congruent to $r$ modulo $m$ and proved a number of congruences for $NB_k(r,m,n)$. In this paper, we prove some identities on $NB_k(r,m,n)$ which are analogous to Ramanujan's ``most beautiful identity". Moreover, those identities imply some congruences proved by Lin, Peng and Toh.

A proof of a conjecture of Mao on Beck's partition statistics modulo 8
Beck introduced two partition statistics $NT(r,m,n)$ and $M_ω(r,m,n)$,which denote the total number of parts in the partition of $n$ with rank congruent to $r$ modulo $m$ and the total number of ones in the partition of $n$ with crank congruent to $r$ modulo $m$, respectively. In recent years, a number of congruences and identities on $NT(r,m,n)$ and $M_ω(r,m,n)$ for some small $m $ have been established. In this paper, we prove an identity on $NT(r,8,n)$ and $M_ω(r,4,n)$ which confirm a conjecture given by Mao.

On Blecher and Knopfmacher's Fixed Points for Integer Partitions
Published in Discrete Math. 347 (2024) 113938 • View PublicationBIB
Recently, Blecher and Knopfmacher explored the notion of fixed points in integer partitions and hypothesized on the relative number of partitions with and without a fixed point. We resolve their open question by working fixed points into a growing number of interconnected partition statistics involving Frobenius symbols, Dyson's crank, and the mex (minimal excluded part). Also, we generalize the definition of fixed points and connect that expanded notion to the $\text{mex}_j$ defined by Hopkins, Sellers, and Stanton as well as the $j$-Durfee rectangle defined by Hopkins, Sellers, and Yee.
