Moments of the Crank Statistic for $t$-Core Partitions and Overpartitions
Recently, Kang, Kim, and Lee \cite{Kang2026} developed a unified moment-trace framework for symmetric partition statistics using complete Bell polynomials and their inversion formula. In this paper, we apply this framework to crank statistics for $t$-core partitions and overpartitions. For $t\in\{5,7,11,17,19\}$, we show that the normalized even crank moment generating functions for $t$-core partitions admit partition-trace representations in terms of the functions $D^{(t)}_{2s}(τ)$, together with suitable Bernoulli-number shifts. We also establish inverse trace formulas that recover $D^{(t)}_{2s}(τ)$ from the corresponding normalized even crank moments. For overpartitions, we obtain analogous trace and inverse-trace identities for the normalized even moments associated with the first and second residual crank generating functions. As applications, we use complete Bell polynomials and their inversion formula to obtain explicit expressions for the $t$-core partition numbers and overpartitions number in terms of sums involving divisor function.
Enumerating cores of charged multipartitions
Granville and Ono proved that there is an $e$-core partition of $n$ for every $n\in\mathbb{N}$ if and only if $e\geq 4$, which translates to a statement about the existence of defect $0$ blocks for symmetric groups in positive characteristic and defect $0$ unipotent blocks of finite general linear groups in positive, non-defining characteristic. Motivated by analogous applications to the block theory of finite classical groups, imprimitive spetses, and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, we prove similar positivity statements about different variants of $e$-cores for charged multipartitions.
The $n$-Point Function of $t$-Core Partitions and Topological Vertex
In this paper, we study the $n$-point function of $t$-core partitions. The main tool is the topological vertex, originally developed to study the topological string theory for toric Calabi--Yau 3-folds. By virtue of the topological vertex, we introduce the $q$-deformed $n$-point function that generalizes both the ordinary $n$-point function of all integer partitions studied by Bloch--Okounkov and $t$-core partition case treated here. As a consequence, we provide a closed formula for the $n$-point function of $t$-core partitions in terms of theta functions, and prove that the corresponding correlation functions are quasimodular forms.
Hook Length Biases in $t$-Core Partitions
Recently, the theory of hook length biases has emerged as a prominent research topic. Led by Ballantine, Burson, Craig, Folsom, and Wen [\textit{Res. Math. Sci.}, 2023], hook length biases are being explored for ordinary partitions, odd versus distinct partitions, self-conjugate versus distinct odd partitions. Lately, Singh and Barman [\textit{J. Number Theory}, 2024] opened the door to hook length biases in $\ell$-regular partitions. In this work, we extend the theory of hook length biases to $t$-core partitions. For example, let $a_{t,k}(n)$ denote the number of hooks of length $k$ in all $t$-core partitions of $n$, then we find that $a_{3,1}(n)\ge a_{3,2}(n) \ge a_{3,4}(n)$ and $a_{4,1}(n)\ge a_{4,3}(n)$ for all $n$. The methods employed in this work are mainly combinatorial.
Bounded core partitions and Borel--Weil--Bott
As a consequence of the Borel--Weil--Bott theorem, the nonvanishing of Hodge numbers of line bundles on a Grassmannian can be reinterpreted in terms of the existence of $t$-core partitions inside a rectangle. We sharpen known conditions for the nonvanishing of Hodge numbers of line bundles on a Grassmannian and give an elementary proof of the Nakano vanishing theorem in this setting. Using the theory of $t$-core partitions, we determine when $H^i(\mathrm{Gr}(k,n),Ω^j(t))$ vanishes in the cases $t=3$ and $i+j\geq k(n-k)-1$.
On simultaneous $(s, s+t, s+2t, \dots)$-core partitions
We consider simultaneous $(s,s+t,s+2t,\dots,s+pt)$-core partitions in the large-$p$ limit, or (when $s<t$), partitions in which no hook may be of length $s \pmod{t}$. We study generating functions, containment properties, and congruences when $s$ is not coprime to $t$. As a boundary case of the general study made by Cho, Huh and Sohn, we provide enumerations when $s$ is coprime to $t$, and answer positively a conjecture of Fayers on the polynomial behavior of the size of the set of simultaneous $(s,s+t,s+2t,\dots,s+pt)$-core partitions when $p$ grows arbitrarily large. Of particular interest throughout is the comparison to the behavior of simultaneous $(s,t)$-cores.
A window to the Bruhat order on the affine symmetric group
Given two affine permutations, some results of Lascoux and Deodhar, and independently Jacon-Lecouvey, allow to decide if they are comparable for the strong Bruhat order. These permutations are associated with tuples of core partitions, and the preceding problem is equivalent to compare the Young diagrams in each components for the inclusion. Using abaci, we give an easy rule to compute these Young diagrams one another. We deduce a procedure to compare, for the Bruhat order, two affine permutations in the window notation.
The Littlewood decomposition via colored Frobenius partitions
The Littlewood decomposition for partitions is a well-known bijection between partitions and pairs of $t$-core and $t$-quotient partitions. This decomposition can be described in several ways, such as the $t$-abacus method of James or the biinfinite word method of Garvan, Kim, and Stanton. In a recent study, Frobenius partitions have proven to be a highly useful tool in dealing with partition statistics related to $t$-core partitions. Motivated by this study, in this paper, we present an alternative description of the Littlewood decomposition using Frobenius partitions. We also apply our approach to self-conjugate partitions and doubled distinct partitions, and give new characterizations of their $t$-cores and $t$-quotients.
A Self-Conjugate Partition Analog of $(t,t+1)$-Core Partitions with Distinct Parts
Simultaneous core partitions have been widely studied in the past 20 years. In 2013, Amdeberhan gave several conjectures on the number, the average size, and the largest size of $(t,t+1)$-core partitions with distinct parts, which was proved and generalized by Straub, Xiong, Nath-Sellers, Zaleski-Zeilberger, Paramonov, and many other mathematicians. In this paper, we introduce a proper self-conjugate partition analog of $(t,t+1)$-core partitions with distinct parts, and derive the number, the average size, and the largest size for such core partitions.
Asymptotic Normality and Concentration Inequalities of Statistics of Core Partitions with Bounded Perimeters
Core partitions have attracted much attention since Anderson's work (2002) on the number of $(s,t)$-core partitions for coprime $s,t$. Recently, there has been a growing interest in studying the limiting distributions of the sizes of random simultaneous core partitions. In this paper, we prove the asymptotic normality of certain statistics of uniform random core partitions with bounded perimeters in the Kolmogorov and Wasserstein $W_1$ distances, including the length and size of a random (strict) $n$-core partition, the length of the Durfee square and the size of a random self-conjugate $n$-core partition. Accordingly, we prove that these statistics are subgaussian. This contrasts with the asymptotic behavior of the size of a random $(s, t)$-core partition for coprime $s,t$ studied by Even-Zohar (2022), which converges in law to Watson's $U^2$ distribution. Our results show that the distribution of the size of a random strict $(n, dn+1)$-core partition is asymptotically normal when $d \ge 3$ is fixed and $n$ tends to infinity, which is an analog of Zaleski's conjecture (2017) and covers Komlós, Sergel, and Tusnády's result (2020) as a special case. Our proof integrates a variety of combinatorial and probabilistic tools, including Stein's method based on Hoeffding decomposition, Hoeffding's combinatorial central limit theorem, the Efron-Stein inequalities on product spaces and slices, and asymptotics of Pólya frequency sequences. Furthermore, our approach is potentially applicable to the study of the asymptotic normality of functionals of random variables with certain global dependence structures that can be decomposed into appropriate mixture forms.
A Bijection Between All Shi Regions and Core Partitions
We extend the bijection of Fishel-Vazirani on dominant regions of the $m$-Shi arrangement. Our map puts the set of all minimal chambers of the $m$-Shi arrangement of Type $A_{n}$ in bijection with a certain set of (equivalence classes of) $n$-core partitions. As a step to our proof, we give a potentially interesting classification of the alcoves in the $S_{n}$-orbit of an $m$-minimal alcove which are themselves $m$-minimal.

Recently, Gireesh, Ray, and Shivashankar studied an analog, $\overline{a}_t(n)$, of the $t$-core partition function, $c_t(n)$. In this paper, we study the function $\overline{a}_5(n)$ in conjunction with $c_5(n)$ as well as another analogous function $\overline{b}_5(n)$. We also find several arithmetic identities for $\overline{a}_5(n)$ and $\overline{b}_5(n)$.
Chern-Simons theories with defects, Rogers-Ramanujan type functions and eta-products
We study the line defect half-indices of 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric Chern-Simons (CS) theories with (special)unitary, symplectic, orthogonal and exceptional gauge groups. We find that they have several beautiful infinite product $q$-series expressions in terms of Ramanujan's general theta function. For the theories with fundamental chiral multiplets, the pairs of the Neumann half-indices and one-point functions of the fundamental Wilson lines form a basis for the line defect indices in terms of the Rogers-Ramanujan type functions. Furthermore, the theories with an adjoint chiral admit the expressions as the eta-products. In particular, for the $SU(N)_{-2N}$ CS theory, there is a one-to-one correspondence between the BPS boundary local operators and the $N$-core partitions.
Random Combinatorial Billiards and Stoned Exclusion Processes
We introduce and study several random combinatorial billiard trajectories. Such a system, which depends on a fixed parameter $p\in(0,1)$, models a beam of light that travels in a Euclidean space, occasionally randomly reflecting off of a hyperplane in the Coxeter arrangement of an affine Weyl group with some probability that depends on the side of the hyperplane that it hits. In one case, we (essentially) recover Lam's reduced random walk in the limit as $p$ tends to $0$. The investigation of our random billiard trajectories relies on an analysis of new finite Markov chains that we call stoned exclusion processes. These processes have remarkable stationary distributions determined by well-studied polynomials such as ASEP polynomials, inhomogeneous TASEP polynomials, and open boundary ASEP polynomials; in many cases, it was previously not known how to construct Markov chains with these stationary distributions. Using multiline queues, we analyze correlations in the stoned multispecies TASEP, allowing us to determine limit directions for reduced random billiard trajectories and limit shapes for new random growth processes for $n$-core partitions. Our perspective coming from combinatorial billiards naturally leads us to formulate a new variant of the ASEP on $\mathbb{Z}$ called the scan ASEP, which we deem interesting in its own right.
Asymptotics for $t$-Core Partitions and Stanton's Conjecture
A partition is a $t$-core partition if $t$ is not one of its hook lengths. Let $c_t(N)$ be the number of $t$-core partitions of $N$. In 1999, Stanton conjectured $c_t(N) \le c_{t+1}(N)$ if $4 \le t \ne N-1$. This was proved for $t$ fixed and $N$ sufficiently large by Anderson, and for small values of $t$ by Kim and Rouse. In this paper, we prove Stanton's conjecture in general. Our approach is to find a saddle point asymptotic formula for $c_t(N)$, valid in all ranges of $t$ and $N$. This includes the known asymptotic formulas for $c_t(N)$ as special cases, and shows that the behavior of $c_t(N)$ depends on how $t^2$ compares in size to $N$. For example, our formula implies that if $t^2 = κN + o(t)$, then $c_t(N) = \frac{\exp\left(2π\sqrt{A N}\right)}{B N} (1 + o(1))$ for suitable constants $A$ and $B$ defined in terms of $κ$.

The Nekrasov-Okounkov formula gives an expression for the Fourier coefficients of the Euler functions as a sum of hook length products. This formula can be deduced from a specialization in a renormalization of the affine type $A$ Weyl denominator formula and the use of a polynomial argument. In this paper, we rephrase the renormalized Weyl-Kac denominator formula as a sum parametrized by affine Grassmannian elements. This naturally gives rise to the (dual) atomic length of the root system considered introduced by Chapelier-Laget and Gerber. We then provide an interpretation of this atomic length as the cardinality of some subsets of $n$-core partitions by using foldings of affine Dynkin diagrams. This interpretation does not permit the direct use of a polynomial argument for all affine root systems. We show that this obstruction can be overcome by computing the atomic length of certain families of integer partitions. Then we show how hook-length statistics on these partitions are connected with the Coxeter length on affine Grassmannian elements and Nekrasov-Okounkov type formulas.
Generalised core partitions and Diophantine equations
We study generalised core partitions arising from affine Grassmannian elements in arbitrary Dynkin type. The corresponding notion of size is given by the atomic length in the sense of [CLG22]. In this paper, we first develop the theory for extended affine Weyl groups. In a series of applications, we give some remarkable parametrisations of the solutions of certain Diophantine equations resembling Pell's equation, by refining the results of [BN22] and [Alp14], and generalising them to further types.

We address a core partition regularity problem in Ramsey theory by proving that every finite coloring of the positive integers contains monochromatic Pythagorean pairs, i.e., $x,y\in \mathbb{N}$ such that $x^2\pm y^2=z^2$ for some $z\in \mathbb{N}$. We also show that partitions generated by level sets of multiplicative functions taking finitely many values always contain Pythagorean triples. Our proofs combine known Gowers uniformity properties of aperiodic multiplicative functions with a novel and rather flexible approach based on concentration estimates of multiplicative functions.
Proof of a Conjecture of Nath and Sellers on Simultaneous Core Partitions
In 2016, Nath and Sellers proposed a conjecture regarding the precise largest size of ${(s,ms-1,ms+1)}$-core partitions. In this paper, we prove their conjecture. One of the key techniques in our proof is to introduce and study the properties of generalized-$β$-sets, which extend the concept of $β$-sets for core partitions. Our results can be interpreted as a generalization of the well-known result of Yang, Zhong, and Zhou concerning the largest size of $(s,s+1,s+2)$-core partitions.

Fix natural numbers $n \geq 1$, $t \geq 2$ and a primitive $t^{\text{th}}$ root of unity $ω$. In previous work with A. Ayyer (J. Alg., 2022), we studied the factorization of specialized irreducible characters of $\text{GL}_{tn}$, $\text{SO}_{2tn+1},$ $\text{Sp}_{2tn}$ and $\text{O}_{2tn}$ evaluated at elements to $ω^j x_i$ for $0 \leq j \leq t-1$ and $1 \leq i \leq n$. In this work, we extend the results to the groups $\text{GL}_{tn+m}$ $(0 \leq m \leq t-1)$, $\text{SO}_{2tn+3}$, $\text{Sp}_{2tn+2}$ and $\text{O}_{2tn+2}$ evaluated at similar specializations: (1) for the $\text{GL}_{tn+m}(\mathbb{C})$ case, we set the first $tn$ elements to $ω^j x_i$ for $0 \leq j \leq t-1$ and $1 \leq i \leq n$ and the remaining $m$ to $y, ωy, \dots, ω^{m-1} y$; (2) for the other three families, the same specializations but with $m=1$. The main results of this paper are a characterization of partitions for which these characters vanish and a factorization of nonzero characters into those of smaller classical groups. Our motivation is the conjectures of Wagh and Prasad (Manuscripta Math., 2020) relating the irreducible representations of $\text{Spin}_{2n+1}$ and $\text{SL}_{2n}$, $\text{SL}_{2n+1}$ and $\text{Sp}_{2n}$ as well as $\text{Spin}_{2n+2}$ and $\text{Sp}_{2n}$. Our proofs use the Weyl character formulas and the beta-sets of $t$-core partitions. Lastly, we give a bijection to prove that there are infinitely many $t$-core partitions for which these characters are nonzero.
