Enumerating cores of charged multipartitions
Granville and Ono proved that there is an $e$-core partition of $n$ for every $n\in\mathbb{N}$ if and only if $e\geq 4$, which translates to a statement about the existence of defect $0$ blocks for symmetric groups in positive characteristic and defect $0$ unipotent blocks of finite general linear groups in positive, non-defining characteristic. Motivated by analogous applications to the block theory of finite classical groups, imprimitive spetses, and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, we prove similar positivity statements about different variants of $e$-cores for charged multipartitions.
Finite Kleshchev bipartitions and $q$-trinomial coefficients
The Kleshchev multipartitions arise in the representation theory for the Ariki-Koike algebras. In previous work, Li, Stanton, Xue, Yee, and the author considered a refined enumeration for the $2$-dimensional case, namely, the Kleshchev bipartitions, by invoking the $2$-residue statistic for partitions. In this paper, we make further elaboration by bounding the largest part of the bipartitions and show that the related counting functions are connected with two families of $q$-trinomial coefficients introduced by Andrews and Baxter.
Entropy of affine permutations and universality of affine atomic lengths
We introduce and study the notion of entropy of affine permutations and prove that it coincides with the atomic length associated with the sum of the fundamental weights for a type $A$ affine root system, as defined by the first two authors. We then establish an analogue of the Granville-Ono theorem by showing that any nonnegative integer can be realised as the entropy of an affine permutation or alternatively, as the size of a core multipartition as introduced by the last two authors. Our proof uses an additive combinatorics theorem due to Hall on difference sets of permutations modulo $n$. More generally, we give a polynomial expression of the atomic length associated with any dominant weight in affine type $A$ and investigate the problem of its universality. Beyond type $A$, we are able to prove that the entropy of affine type $C_n$ permutations is universal when $2n+1$ is prime. This is achieved by establishing an analogue of Hall's theorem for the hyperoctahedral group based on Alon's combinatorial Nullstellensatz. We also propose conjectures generalising the results presented in the paper, each supported by computational evidence. Finally, we show that in any affine classical type, the problem of the universality of the atomic length simplifies in large rank when the weight considered is conveniently adjusted.
Tensor Product Decompositions, Limits in Excellent Filtrations, Affine Weyl Group Orbits, and Tableaux Counting
We express the outer multiplicities in the tensor products of two fundamental simple modules for an affine Kac-Moody algebra of type $A$ in terms of counting certain sets of multipartitions by exploring the stabilizing limits of certain excellent filtrations. This extends for all ranks a previously obtained result by Jakelić and the second author for rank $1$. The same outer multiplicities were previously computed by Misra and Wilson in terms of counting certain sets of tableaux. By comparing these two expressions and by explicitly exhibiting a combinatorial description of level-$2$ affine Weyl group orbits, we establish the existence of a bijection between the Misra-Wilson set of tableaux and a disjoint union of certain sets of multipartitions.
Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for the cyclotomic Hecke algebra and applications
We derive a Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for irreducible characters of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra on certain standard elements, which fully determine their values. This work builds upon our recent multi-parameter Murnaghan-Nakayama rule for Macdonald polynomials. Our Murnaghan-Nakayama rule can be readily specialized to retrieve various existing rules, including those for the complex reflection group of type $G(m, 1, n)$ and the Iwahori-Hecke algebra in types $A$ and $B$. In a dual picture, we establish an iterative formula for the irreducible characters on upper multipartitions, utilizing the vertex operator realization of Schur functions.
As applications we derive an Regev-type formula and an Lübeck-Prasad-Adin-Roichman-type formula for the cyclotomic Hecke algebra, thereby extending the corresponding formulas for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra in type $A$ and the complex reflection group of type $G(m,1,n)$ to the setting of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra, respectively. Finally, we introduce the notion of the multiple bitrace of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra to formulate the second orthogonal relation of the irreducible characters. We also provide a general combinatorial rule to compute the multiple bitrace.
Fixed points in Gieseker spaces and blocks of Ariki-Koike algebras
In this article, we establish combinatorial links between the irreducible components of the fixed point locus of the Gieseker variety and the block theory of Ariki-Koike algebras. First, we describe the fixed point locus in terms of Nakajima quiver varieties over the McKay quiver of type A. We then reinterpret the dimension of an irreducible component as double the weight of a block. Cores of charged multipartitions have been defined by Fayers and further developed by Jacon and Lecouvey. In addition, we give a new way to compute the multicharge associated with the core of a charged multipartition. Finally, we also explain how the notion of core blocks, defined by Fayers, is interpreted on the geometric side using the deep connection between quiver varieties and affine Lie algebras.
Spin Multipartitions
We conjecture an algorithm to construct spin multipartitions and prove that all the level one Fock spaces using our combinatorics are modules over the quantum enveloping algebra.
A skew Specht perspective of RoCK blocks and cuspidal systems for KLR algebras in affine type A
Cuspidal systems parameterize KLR algebra representations via root partitions $π$, where simple modules $L(π)$ arise as heads of proper standard modules. Working in affine type A with an arbitrary convex preorder, we construct explicit skew diagrams $ζ(π)$ such that the skew Specht module $S^{ζ(π)}$ has simple head $L(π)$ and a filtration by proper standard modules. A key ingredient in this construction is the development of `core-truncation' functors, which take module categories of level one RoCK blocks to the category of imaginary semicuspidal KLR modules. Every simple imaginary semicuspidal module arises in the image of these functors. This result stems from an in-depth study of the combinatorial interplay between cuspidal systems and RoCK cyclotomic KLR algebras, in which we characterize core blocks and RoCK blocks in arbitrary level via cuspidal tiling properties of multipartitions in these blocks.

Using elementary methods, we prove new formulas for $\operatorname{pp}(n)$, the number of plane partitions of $n$, $\operatorname{pp}_r(n)$, the number of plane partitions of $n$ with at most $r$ rows, $\operatorname{pp}^s(n)$, the number of strict plane partitions of $n$ and $\operatorname{pp}^{so}(n)$, the number of symmetric plane partitions of $n$. Also, we give new formulas for $P_r(n)$, the number of $r$-component multipartitions of $n$.

Let $\mathbf a=(a_1,\ldots,a_r)$ be a sequence of positive integers and $k\geq 2$ an integer. We study $p_{k,\mathbf a}(n)$, the restricted $k$-multipartition function associated to $\mathbf a$ and $k$. We prove new formulas for $p_{k,\mathbf a}(n)$, its waves $W_j(n,k,\mathbf a)$'s and its polynomial part $P_{k,\mathbf a}(n)$. Also, we give a lower bound for the density of the set $\{n\geq 0\;:\;p_{k,\mathbf a}(n)\not\equiv 0(\bmod\;m)\}$, where $m\geq 2$ is an integer.
Full runner removal theorem for Ariki-Koike algebras
We consider the representation theory of the Ariki-Koike algebra, a $q$-deformation of the group algebra of the complex reflection group $C_r \wr S_n$. We define the addition of a runner full of beads for the abacus display of a multipartition and investigate some combinatorial properties of this operation. We focus our attention on the $q$-decomposition numbers, i.e. the polynomials arising from the Fock space representation of the quantum group $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_e)$. Using Fayers' LLT-type algorithm for Ariki-Koike algebras, we relate $q$-decomposition numbers for different values of $e$ for the class of $e$-multiregular multipartitions, by adding a full runner of beads to each component of the abacus displays for the labelling multipartitions.
Faces in Crystals of Affine Type A and the Shape of Canonical Basis Elements
For a dominant integral weight $Λ$ in a Lie algebra of affine type A and rank $e$, and an interval $I_0$ in the residue set $I$, we define the face for the interval $I_0$ to be the subgraph of the block-reduced crystal $\widehat P(Λ)$ that is generated by $f_i$ for $i \in I_0$. We show that such a face has an automorphism that preserves defects. For an interval of length $2$, we also give a non-recursive construction of the $e$-regular multipartitions with weights in the face, as well as a formula for the number of $e$-regular multipartitions at each vertex of the face.
For an affine Lie algebra of type $A$ we define and investigate the shape of canonical basis elements, a sequence counting the number of multipartitions with a given coefficient. For finite faces generated by $Λ$ with $|I_0|=1,2$, we give a non-recursive closed formula for the canonical basis elements.
Parity of the coefficients of certain eta-quotients, II: The case of even-regular partitions

We continue our study of the density of the odd values of eta-quotients, here focusing on the $m$-regular partition functions $b_m$ for $m$ even. Based on extensive computational evidence, we propose an elegant conjecture which, in particular, completely classifies such densities: Let $m = 2^j m_0$ with $m_0$ odd. If $2^j < m_0$, then the odd density of $b_m$ is $1/2$; moreover, such density is equal to $1/2$ on every (nonconstant) subprogression $An+B$. If $2^j > m_0$, then $b_m$, which is already known to have density zero, is identically even on infinitely many non-nested subprogressions. This and all other conjectures of this paper are consistent with our ''master conjecture'' on eta-quotients presented in the previous work.
In general, our results on $b_m$ for $m$ even determine behaviors considerably different from the case of $m$ odd. Also interesting, it frequently happens that on subprogressions $An+B$, $b_m$ matches the parity of the multipartition functions $p_t$, for certain values of $t$. We make a suitable use of Ramanujan-Kolberg identities to deduce a large class of such results; as an example, $b_{28}(49n+12) \equiv p_3(7n+2) \pmod{2}$. Additional consequences are several ''almost always congruences'' for various $b_m$, as well as new parity results specifically for $b_{11}$.
We wrap up our work with a much simpler proof of the main result of a recent paper by Cherubini-Mercuri, which fully characterized the parity of $b_8$.

In 2000, Ariki and Mathas showed that the simple modules of the Ariki--Koike algebras $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbb{C},q;Q_1,\ldots, Q_m}\big(G(m, 1, n)\big)$ (when the parameters are roots of unity and $q\neq 1$) are labeled by the so-called Kleshchev multipartitions. This together with Ariki's categorification theorem enabled Ariki and Mathas to obtain the generating function for the number of Kleshchev multipartitions by making use of the Weyl--Kac character formula. In this paper, we revisit this generating function for the $q=-1$ case. This $q=-1$ case is particularly interesting, for the corresponding Kleshchev multipartitions have a very close connection to generalized Rogers--Ramanujan type partitions when $Q_1=\cdots=Q_a=-1$ and $Q_{a+1}=\cdots =Q_m =1$. Based on this connection, we provide an analytic proof of the result of Ariki and Mathas for $q=Q_1=\cdots Q_a=-1$ and $Q_{a+1}=\cdots =Q_m =1$. Our second objective is to investigate simple modules of the Ariki--Koike algebra in a fixed block. It is known that these simple modules in a fixed block are labeled by the Kleshchev multiparitions with a fixed partition residue statistic. This partition statistic is also studied in the works of Berkovich, Garvan, and Uncu. Employing their results, we provide two bivariate generating function identities when $m=2$.

Deducing the positive odd density of $p(n)$ from that of a multipartition function: An unconditional proof

A famous conjecture of Parkin-Shanks predicts that $p(n)$ is odd with density $1/2$. Despite the remarkable amount of work of the last several decades, however, even showing this density is positive seems out of reach. In a 2018 paper with Judge, we introduced a different approach and conjectured the "striking" fact that, if for any $A \equiv \pm 1\ (\bmod 6)$ the multipartition function $p_A(n)$ has positive odd density, then so does $p(n)$. Similarly, the positive odd density of any $p_{A}(n)$ with $A\equiv 3\ (\bmod 6)$ would imply that of $p_3(n)$.
Our conjecture was shown to be a corollary of an earlier conjecture of the same paper. In this brief note, we provide an unconditional proof of it. An important tool will be Chen's recent breakthrough on a special case of our earlier conjecture.

To any Young diagram we can associate the multiset of residues of all its nodes. This paper is concerned with the inverse problem: given a multiset of elements of Z/eZ, does it comes from a Young diagram? We give a full solution in level one and a partial answer in higher levels for Young multidiagrams, using Fayers's notions of core block and weight of a multipartition. We apply the result in level one to study a shift operation on partitions.
Cylindric multipartitions and level-rank duality
We show that a multipartition is cylindric if and only if its level rank-dual is a source in the corresponding affine type $A$ crystal. This provides an algebraic interpretation of cylindricity, and completes a similar result for FLOTW multipartitions.

We define a generalization of the Mullineux involution on multipartitions using the theory of crystals for higher level Fock spaces. Our generalized Mullineux involution turns up in representation theory via two important derived functors on cyclotomic Cherednik category $\mathcal{O}$: Losev's "$κ=0$" wall-crossing, and the Ringel duality.
