Quantized Howe-type dualities via Koornwinder polynomials and the X=K phenomenon
We derive the equality between one-dimensional sums associated with tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin column crystals of classical affine types and Lusztig q-analogues of weight multiplicities. The matching of the corresponding root systems is suggested by Howe duality. Our main tool is the dual Cauchy formula for Koornwinder polynomials due to Mimachi, which we combine with specializations in these polynomials. The mentioned dualities are proved for one-dimensional sums of all (twisted and untwisted) classical affine types except types B_n^(1) and D_n^(1). On another hand, all the Lusztig q-analogues of classical type are covered by our dualities, but they may have different parameters depending on the length of the roots in the underlying root system.
Entropy of affine permutations and universality of affine atomic lengths
We introduce and study the notion of entropy of affine permutations and prove that it coincides with the atomic length associated with the sum of the fundamental weights for a type $A$ affine root system, as defined by the first two authors. We then establish an analogue of the Granville-Ono theorem by showing that any nonnegative integer can be realised as the entropy of an affine permutation or alternatively, as the size of a core multipartition as introduced by the last two authors. Our proof uses an additive combinatorics theorem due to Hall on difference sets of permutations modulo $n$. More generally, we give a polynomial expression of the atomic length associated with any dominant weight in affine type $A$ and investigate the problem of its universality. Beyond type $A$, we are able to prove that the entropy of affine type $C_n$ permutations is universal when $2n+1$ is prime. This is achieved by establishing an analogue of Hall's theorem for the hyperoctahedral group based on Alon's combinatorial Nullstellensatz. We also propose conjectures generalising the results presented in the paper, each supported by computational evidence. Finally, we show that in any affine classical type, the problem of the universality of the atomic length simplifies in large rank when the weight considered is conveniently adjusted.

Parabolic restrictions and double deformations of weight multiplicities
We introduce some (p,q)-deformations of the weight multiplicities for the representations of any simple Lie algebra g over the complex numbers. This is done by associating the indeterminate q to the positive roots of a parabolic subsystem of g and the indeterminate p to the remaining positive roots. When p=q, we just recover the usual Lusztig analogues of weight multiplicities. We then study the positivity of the coefficients in these double deformations. In particular, the positivity holds when p=1 in which case the polynomials have a natural algebraic interpretation in terms of a parabolic Brylinski filtration. For the parabolic restriction from type C to type A, this positivity result was conjectured by Lee. We also establish this positivity, in any finite type and for any p, for a stabilized version of our double deformation. In addition, we study the double deformation obtained by replacing the pair (p,q) by (p+1,q+1), show it has nonnegative coefficients and admits a combinatorial description in terms of crystals.

Macdonald Identities, Weyl-Kac Denominator Formulas and Affine Grassmannian Elements
Published in SIGMA 21 (2025), 023, 45 pages • View PublicationBIB
The Nekrasov-Okounkov formula gives an expression for the Fourier coefficients of the Euler functions as a sum of hook length products. This formula can be deduced from a specialization in a renormalization of the affine type $A$ Weyl denominator formula and the use of a polynomial argument. In this paper, we rephrase the renormalized Weyl-Kac denominator formula as a sum parametrized by affine Grassmannian elements. This naturally gives rise to the (dual) atomic length of the root system considered introduced by Chapelier-Laget and Gerber. We then provide an interpretation of this atomic length as the cardinality of some subsets of $n$-core partitions by using foldings of affine Dynkin diagrams. This interpretation does not permit the direct use of a polynomial argument for all affine root systems. We show that this obstruction can be overcome by computing the atomic length of certain families of integer partitions. Then we show how hook-length statistics on these partitions are connected with the Coxeter length on affine Grassmannian elements and Nekrasov-Okounkov type formulas.

Crystal isomorphisms and Mullineux involution II
We present a new combinatorial and conjectural algorithm for computing the Mullineux involution for the symmetric group and its Hecke algebra. This algorithm is built on a conjectural property of crystal isomorphisms which can be rephrased in a purely combinatorial way.
Homology rings of affine grassmannians and positively multiplicative graphs
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be an untwisted affine Lie algebra with associated Weyl group $W_a$. To any level 0 weight $γ$ we associate a weighted graph $Γ_γ$ that encodes the orbit of $γ$ under the action $W_a$. We show that the graph $Γ_γ$ encodes the periodic orientation of certain subsets of alcoves in $W_a$ and therefore can be interpreted as an automaton determining the reduced expressions in these subsets. Then, by using some relevant quotients of the homology ring of affine Grassmannians, we show that $Γ_γ$ is positively multiplicative. This allows us in particular to compute the structure constants of the homology rings using elementary linear algebra on multiplicative graphs. In another direction, the positivity of $Γ_γ$ yields the key ingredients to study a large class of central random walks on alcoves.

Non symmetric Cauchy kernel, crystals and last passage percolation
Published in Tunisian J. Math. 6 (2024) 249-297 • View PublicationBIB
We use non-symmetric Cauchy kernel identities to get the law of last passagepercolation models in terms of Demazure characters. The construction is basedon some restrictions of the RSK correspondence that we rephrase in a unifiedway which is compatible with crystal basis theory.
Quantum cohomology of the Grassmannian and unitary Dyson Brownian motion
We study a class of commuting Markov kernels whose simplest element describes the movement of $k$ particles on a discrete circle of size $n$ conditioned to not intersect each other. Such Markov kernels are related to the quantum cohomology ring of the Grassmannian, which is an algebraic object counting analytic maps from $\mathbb{P}^1(\mathbb{C})$ to the Grassmannian space of k-dimensional vector subspaces of $\mathbb{C}^n$ with prescribed constraints at some points of $\mathbb{P}^1(\mathbb{C})$. We obtain a Berry-Esseen theorem and a local limit theorem for an arbitrary product of approximately $n^2$ Markov kernels belonging to the above class, when k is fixed. As a byproduct of those results, we derive asymptotic formulas for the quantum cohomology ring of the Grassmannian in terms of the heat kernel on $SU (k)$.

Submodular functions in additive combinatorics problems for group actions and representations
We establish analogues in the context of group actions or group representations of some classical problems and results in additive combinatorics of groups. We also study the notion of left invariant submodular function defined on power sets which plays a central role in our proofs. This new version is a completely reorganized version of the preceding one.
Basics on positively multiplicative graphs and algebras
An oriented graph is said positively multiplicative when its adjacency matrix $A$ embeds in a matrix algebra admitting a basis $\mathsf{B}$ with nonnegative structure constants in which the matrix of the multiplication by $A$ coincides with $A$. The goal of this paper is to present basic properties of this notion and explain, through various simple examples, how it relates to highly non trivial problems like the combinatorial description of fusion rules, the description of the minimal boundary of graded graphs or the study of random walks on alcove tilings.

Towards a Combinatorial Model for $q$-weight Multiplicities of Simple Lie Algebras (Extended Abstract)
Kostka-Foulkes polynomials are Lusztig's $q$-analogues of weight multiplicities for irreducible representations of semisimple Lie algebras. It has long been known that these polynomials have non-negative coefficients. A statistic on semistandard Young tableaux with partition content, called \textit{charge}, was used to give a combinatorial formula exhibiting this fact in type $A$. Defining a charge statistic beyond type $A$ has been a long-standing problem. Here, we take a completely new approach based on the definition of Kostka-Foulkes polynomials as an alternating sum over Kostant partitions, which can be thought of as formal sums of positive roots. We use a sign-reversing involution to obtain a positive expansion, in which the relevant statistic is simply the number of parts in the Kostant partitions. The hope is that the simplicity of this new crystal-like model will naturally extend to other classical types.
Generalised Howe dualityand injectivity of induction: the symplectic case
Published • View PublicationBIB
We study the symplectic Howe duality using two new and independent combinatorial methods: via determinantal formulae on the one hand, and via (bi)crystals on the other hand. The first approach allows us to establish a generalised version where weight multiplicities are replaced by branching coefficients. In turn, this generalised Howe duality is used to prove the injectivity of induction for Levi branchings as previously conjectured by the last two authors.

Duality and bicrystals on infinite binary matrices
Published • View PublicationBIB
The set of finite binary matrices of a given size is known to carry a finite type A bicrystal structure. We first review this classical construction, explain how it yields a short proof of the equality between Kostka polynomials and one-dimensional sums together with a natural generalisation of the 2M -- X Pitman transform. Next, we show that, once the relevant formalism on families of infinite binary matrices is introduced, this is a particular case of a much more general phenomenon. Each such family of matrices is proved to be endowed with Kac-Moody bicrystal and tricrystal structures defined from the classical root systems. Moreover, we give an explicit decomposition of these multicrystals, reminiscent of the decomposition of characters yielding the Cauchy identities.

Cores of Ariki-Koike algebras

We study a natural generalization of the notion of cores for l-partitions attached with a multi-charge s $\in$ Z^l : the (e, s)-cores. We rely them both to the combinatorics and the notion of weight defined by Fayers. Next we study applications in the context of the block theory for Ariki-Koike algebras.

Keys and Demazure crystals for Kac-Moody algebras
Published • View PublicationBIB
The Key map is an important tool in the determination of the Demazure crystals associated to Kac-Moody algebras. In finite type A, it can be computed in the tableau realization of crystals by a simple combinatorial procedure due to Lascoux and Sch{ü}tzenberger. We show that this procedure is a part of a more general construction holding in the Kac-Moody case that we illustrate in finite types and affine type A. In affine type A, we introduce higher level generalizations of core partitions which notably give interesting analogues of the Young lattice and are expected to parametrize distinguished elements of certain remarkable blocks for Ariki-Koike algebras.

Atomic decomposition of characters and crystals
Published • View PublicationBIB
Lascoux stated that the type A Kostka-Foulkes polynomials K_{lambda,mu}(t) expand positively in terms of so-called atomic polynomials. For any semisimple Lie algebra, the former polynomial is a t-analogue of the multiplicity of the dominant weight mu in the irreducible representation of highest weight lambda. We formulate the atomic decomposition in arbitrary type, and view it as a strengthening of the monotonicity of K_{lambda,mu}(t). We also define a combinatorial version of the atomic decomposition, as a decomposition of a modified crystal graph. We prove that this stronger version holds in type A (which provides a new, conceptual approach to Lascoux's statement), in types B, C, and D in a stable range for t=1, as well as in some other cases, while we conjecture that it holds more generally. Another conjecture stemming from our work leads to an efficient computation of K_{lambda,mu}(t). We also give a geometric interpretation.

Alcove random walks, k-Schur functions and the minimal boundary of the k-bounded partition poset
Published • View PublicationBIB
We use k-Schur functions to get the minimal boundary of the k-bounded partition poset. This permits to describe the central random walks on affine Grassmannian elements of type A and yields a polynomial expression for their drift. We also recover Rietsch's parametriza-tion of totally nonnegative unitriangular Toeplitz matrices without using quantum cohomology of flag varieties. All the homeomorphisms we define can moreover be made explicit by using the combinatorics of k-Schur functions and elementary computations based on Perron-Frobenius theorem.

Combinatorics of generalized exponents
Published • View PublicationBIB
We give a purely combinatorial proof of the positivity of the stabilized forms of the generalized exponents associated to each classical root system. In finite type A_{n-1}, we rederive the description of the generalized exponents in terms of crystal graphs without using the combinatorics of semistandard tableaux or the charge statistic. In finite type C_n, we obtain a combinatorial description of the generalized exponents based on the so-called distinguished vertices in crystals of type A_{2n-1}, which we also connect to symplectic King tableaux. This gives a combinatorial proof of the positivity of Lusztig t-analogues associated to zero weight spaces in the irreducible representations of symplectic Lie algebras. We also present three applications of our combinatorial formula, and discuss some implications to relating two type C branching rules. Our methods are expected to extend to the orthogonal types.

Central measures on multiplicative graphs, representations of Lie algebras and weight polytopes
To each finite-dimensional representation of a simple Lie algebra is associated a multiplicative graph in the sense of Kerov and Vershik definedfrom the decomposition of its tensor powers into irreducible components. The conditioning of naturalrandom Littelmann paths to stay in their corresponding Weyl chamber is thencontrolled by central measures on this type of graphs. Using the K-theory of associated C*-algebras, Handelman established a homeomorphism between the set of central measures on these multiplicative graphs and the weight polytope of theunderlying representation. In the present paper, we make explicit this homeomorphism independently of Handelman's results by using Littelmann's path model. As a by-product we also get an explicit parametrization of theweight polytope in terms of drifts of random Littelmann paths. This explicit parametrization yields a complete description of harmonic and c-harmonic functions for this Littelmann paths model.

Additive combinatorics methods in associative algebras
Published • View PublicationBIB
We adapt methods coming from additive combinatorics in groups to the study of linear span in associative unital algebras. In particular, we establish for these algebras analogues of Diderrich-Kneser's and Hamidoune's theorems on sumsets and Tao's theorem on sets of small doubling. In passing we classify the finite-dimensional algebras over infinite fields with finitely many subalgebras. These algebras play a crucial role in our linear version of Diderrich-Kneser's theorem. We also explain how the original theorems for groups we linearize can be easily deduced from our results applied to group algebras. Finally, we give lower bounds for the Minkowski product of two subsets in finite monoids by using their associated monoid algebras.
