Asymptotics of Weighted Reflectable Walks in $A_2$
Lattice walks are used to model various physical phenomena. In particular, walks within Weyl chambers connect directly to representation theory via the Littelmann path model. We derive asymptotics for centrally weighted lattice walks within the Weyl chamber corresponding to $A_2$ by using tools from analytic combinatorics in several variables (ACSV). We find universality classes depending on the weights of the walks, in line with prior results on the weighted Gouyou-Beauchamps model. Along the way, we identify a type of singularity within a multivariate rational generating function that is not yet covered by the theory of ACSV. We conjecture asymptotics for this type of singularity.
Simple Procedures for Left and Right Keys of Semi-Standard Young Tableaux
We give simple procedures to obtain the left and right keys of a semi-standard Young tableau. Keys derive their interest from the fact that they encode the characters of Demazure and opposite Demazure modules for the general and special linear groups. Given the importance of keys, there are indeed several procedures available in the literature to determine them. In comparison, our procedures are new (to the best of our knowledge) and especially simple. Having said that, we hasten to add that there is nothing new in any individual ingredient that goes into our procedures. These ingredients are all routine, straightforward, and (in any case) occur in the literature. But they never quite seem to have been put together as done here.
Our procedures end up repeatedly performing the Deodhar lifts, maximal lifts for the left key and minimal lifts for right key. Together with the well known fact that keys can be obtained by such repeated lifts, this justifies the procedures. The relevance of Deodhar lifts to combinatorial models for Demazure characters is well known in Standard Monomial Theory. Right and left keys appear respectively as initial and final directions of Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths in Littelmanns Path Model Theory.
Growth Diagrams and Minuscule Polygon Configurations in the Affine Grassmannian
We define affine growth diagrams consisting of $GL_m$ dominant weights that label the vertices of a staircase-shaped grid. These are also called cylindrical growth diagrams as defined by Speyer and White in the case of partitions. The weights labelling each adjacent pair of vertices differ by a vertical strip and the weights around each unit square satisfy a local condition that appeared in van Leeuwen's work on the Littelmann path model for crystals.
We prove two main results. For a sequence of minuscule weights $\vecλ=(λ^1,\ldots,λ^n)$ let Poly$(\vecλ)$ denote the configuration space of $n$-tuples of points $(g_1,\ldots,g_n)$ in the affine Grassmannian such that the weight-valued distances satisfy $d(g_i,g_{i+1})=λ^i$. This is the convolution variety arising in the geometric Satake correspondence. We show that for a generic point $(g_1,\ldots,g_n)$ of a component the distances $d(g_i,g_j)$ form an affine growth diagram and that this gives a bijection between components of Poly$(\vecλ)$ and affine growth diagrams of type $\vecλ$. The main tool used in the proof is the Knutson--Tao hive.
In the second part, we give a purely combinatorial construction of affine growth diagrams from natural number entries by applying Greene's theorem to certain subrectangles of the staircase. From this construction it follows that affine growth diagrams contain the classical Fomin growth diagrams and realize the RS-correspondence when $\vecλ=(ω_1,\ldots,ω_1,ω_1^*,\ldots,ω_1^*)$.

We construct a model for $B(\infty)$ using the alcove path model of Lenart and Postnikov. We show that the continuous limit of our model recovers a dual version of the Littelmann path model for $B(\infty)$ given by Li and Zhang. Furthermore, we consider the dual version of the alcove path model and obtain analogous results for the dual model, where the continuous limit gives the Li and Zhang model.
Central measures on multiplicative graphs, representations of Lie algebras and weight polytopes
To each finite-dimensional representation of a simple Lie algebra is associated a multiplicative graph in the sense of Kerov and Vershik definedfrom the decomposition of its tensor powers into irreducible components. The conditioning of naturalrandom Littelmann paths to stay in their corresponding Weyl chamber is thencontrolled by central measures on this type of graphs. Using the K-theory of associated C*-algebras, Handelman established a homeomorphism between the set of central measures on these multiplicative graphs and the weight polytope of theunderlying representation. In the present paper, we make explicit this homeomorphism independently of Handelman's results by using Littelmann's path model. As a by-product we also get an explicit parametrization of theweight polytope in terms of drifts of random Littelmann paths. This explicit parametrization yields a complete description of harmonic and c-harmonic functions for this Littelmann paths model.

We show the natural embedding of weight lattices from a diagram folding is a virtualization map for the Littelmann path model, which recovers a result of Kashiwara. As an application, we give a type independent proof that certain Kirillov--Reshetikhin crystals respect diagram foldings, which is a known result on a special case of a conjecture given by Okado, Schilling, and Shimozono.

We study cells in generalised Bott-Samelson varieties for type C. These cells are parametrised by certain galleries in the affine building. We define a set of readable galleries - we show that the closure in the affine Grassmannian associated to a gallery in this set is an MV cycle. This then defines a map from the set of readable galeries to the set of MV cycles, which we show to be a morphism of crystals. We further compute the fibres of this map in terms of the Littelmann path model.

Random paths are time continuous interpolations of random walks. By using Littelmann path model, we associate to each irreducible highest weight module of a Kac Moody algebra g a random path W. Under suitable hypotheses, we make explicit the probability of the event E: W never exits the Weyl chamber of g. We then give the law of the random walk defined by W conditioned by the event E and proves this law can be recovered by applying to W the generalized Pitmann transform introduced by Biane, Bougerol and O'Connell. This generalizes the main results of [10] and [16] to Kac Moody root systems and arbitrary highest weight modules. Moreover, we use here a completely new approach by exploiting the symmetry of our construction under the action of the Weyl group of g rather than renewal theory and Doob's theorem on Martin kernels.

We present a uniform construction of tensor products of one-column Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR) crystals in all untwisted affine types, which uses a generalization of the Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths (in the theory of the Littelmann path model). This generalization is based on the graph on parabolic cosets of a Weyl group known as the parabolic quantum Bruhat graph. A related model is the so-called quantum alcove model. The proof is based on two lifts of the parabolic quantum Bruhat graph: to the Bruhat order on the affine Weyl group and to Littelmann's poset on level-zero weights. Our construction leads to a simple calculation of the energy function. It also implies the equality between a Macdonald polynomial specialized at t=0 and the graded character of a tensor product of KR modules.

We describe an explicit crystal morphism between Nakajima monomials and monomials which give a realization of crystal bases for finite dimensional irreducible modules over the quantized enveloping algebra for Lie algebras of type A and C. This morphism provides a connection between arbitrary Nakajima monomials and Nakashima Kashiwara tableaux. This yields a translation of Nakajima monomials to the Littelmann path model. Furthermore, as an application of our results we describe an insertion scheme for Nakajima monomials compatible to the insertion scheme for tableaux.

In previous work we showed that two apparently unrelated formulas for the Hall-Littlewood polynomials of type A are, in fact, closely related. The first is the tableau formula obtained by specializing q=0 in the Haglund-Haiman-Loehr formula for Macdonald polynomials. The second is the type $A$ instance of Schwer's formula (rephrased and rederived by Ram) for Hall-Littlewood polynomials of arbitrary finite type; Schwer's formula is in terms of so-called alcove walks, which originate in the work of Gaussent-Littelmann and of the author with Postnikov on discrete counterparts to the Littelmann path model. We showed that the tableau formula follows by "compressing" Ram's version of Schwer's formula. In this paper, we derive tableau formulas for the Hall-Littlewood polynomials of type B and C by compressing the corresponding instances of Schwer's formula.

A recent breakthrough in the theory of (type A) Macdonald polynomials is due to Haglund, Haiman and Loehr, who exhibited a combinatorial formula for these polynomials in terms of a pair of statistics on fillings of Young diagrams. The inversion statistic, which is the more intricate one, suffices for specializing a closely related formula to one for the type A Hall-Littlewood Q-polynomials (spherical functions on p-adic groups). An apparently unrelated development, at the level of arbitrary finite root systems, led to Schwer's formula (rephrased and rederived by Ram) for the Hall-Littlewood P-polynomials of arbitrary type. The latter formula is in terms of so-called alcove walks, which originate in the work of Gaussent-Littelmann and of the author with Postnikov on discrete counterparts to the Littelmann path model. In this paper, we relate the above developments, by deriving a Haglund-Haiman-Loehr type formula for the Hall-Littlewood P-polynomials of type A from Ram's version of Schwer's formula via a "compression" procedure.

A recent breakthrough in the theory of (type A) Macdonald polynomials is due to Haglund, Haiman and Loehr, who exhibited a combinatorial formula for these polynomials in terms of a pair of statistics on fillings of Young diagrams. Ram and Yip gave a formula for the Macdonald polynomials of arbitrary type in terms of so-called alcove walks; these originate in the work of Gaussent-Littelmann and of the author with Postnikov on discrete counterparts to the Littelmann path model. In this paper, we relate the above developments, by explaining how the Ram-Yip formula compresses to a new formula, which is similar to the Haglund-Haiman-Loehr one but contains considerably fewer terms.

In this paper we use the combinatorics of alcove walks to give a uniform combinatorial formula for Macdonald polynomials for all Lie types. These formulas are generalizations of the formulas of Haglund-Haiman-Loehr for Macdonald polynoimals of type GL(n). At q=0 these formulas specialize to the formula of Schwer for the Macdonald spherical function in terms of positively folded alcove walks and at q=t=0 these formulas specialize to the formula for the Weyl character in terms of the Littelmann path model (in the positively folded gallery form of Gaussent-Littelmann).

In this paper, we continue the development of a new combinatorial model for the irreducible characters of a complex semisimple Lie group. This model, which will be referred to as the alcove path model, can be viewed as a discrete counterpart to the Littelmann path model. It leads to an extensive generalization of the combinatorics of irreducible characters from Lie type A (where the combinatorics is based on Young tableaux, for instance) to arbitrary type. The main results of this paper are: (1) a combinatorial description of the crystal graphs corresponding to the irreducible representations (this result includes a transparent proof, based on the Yang-Baxter equation, of the fact that the mentioned description does not depend on the choice involved in our model); (2) a combinatorial realization of Lusztig's involution on the canonical basis (this involution exhibits the crystals as self-dual posets, corresponds to the action of the longest Weyl group element on an irreducible representation, and generalizes Schutzenberger's involution on tableaux); (3) an analog for arbitrary root systems, based on the Yang-Baxter equation, of Schutzenberger's sliding algorithm, which is also known as jeu de taquin (this algorithm has many applications to the representation theory of the Lie algebra of type A).

We present a simple combinatorial model for the characters of the irreducible integrable highest weight modules for complex symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras. This model can be viewed as a discrete counterpart to the Littelmann path model. We describe crystal graphs and give a Littlewood-Richardson rule for decomposing tensor products of irreducible representations. The new model is based on the notion of a lambda-chain, which is a chain of positive roots defined by certain interlacing conditions.

Using a combinatorial approach which avoids geometry, this paper studies the ring structure of K_T(G/B), the T-equivariant K-theory of the (generalized) flag variety G/B. Here the data is a complex reductive algebraic group (or symmetrizable Kac-Moody group) G, a Borel subgroup B, and a maximal torus T, and K_T(G/B) is the Grothendieck group of T-equivariant coherent sheaves on G/B. We prove "Pieri-Chevalley" formulas for the products of a Schubert class by a homogeneous line bundle (dominant or anti-dominant) and for products of a Schubert class by a codimension 1 Schubert class. All of these Pieri-Chevalley formulas are given in terms of the combinatorics of the Littelmann path model. We give explicit computations of products of Schubert classes for the rank two cases and this data allows us to make a "positivity conjecture" generalizing the theorems of Brion and Graham, which treat the cases K(G/B) and H_T^*(G/B), respectively.

We give an explicit combinatorial Chevalley-type formula for the equivariant K-theory of generalized flag varieties G/P which is a direct generalization of the classical Chevalley formula. Our formula implies a simple combinatorial model for the characters of the irreducible representations of G and, more generally, for the Demazure characters. This model can be viewed as a discrete counterpart of the Littelmann path model, and has several advantages. Our construction is given in terms of a certain R-matrix, that is, a collection of operators satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation. It reduces to combinatorics of decompositions in the affine Weyl group and enumeration of saturated chains in the Bruhat order on the (nonaffine) Weyl group. Our model easily implies several symmetries of the coefficients in the Chevalley-type formula. We also derive a simple formula for multiplying an arbitrary Schubert class by a divisor class, as well as a dual Chevalley-type formula. The paper contains other applications and examples.
