On Semisymmetric Height and a Multidimensional Generalization of Weighted Catalan Numbers
Weighted Catalan numbers are a class of weighted sums over Dyck paths. Well-studied for their arithmetic properties and applications to enumerative combinatorics, these numbers were recently generalized to the setting of $k$-dimensional Catalan numbers for $k \geq 2$. In this paper, we introduce the $k$-dimensional semisymmetric weighted Catalan numbers ($k$-dimensional SSWCNs), an alternative $k$-dimensional generalization, along with their variant, the $k$-dimensional $u$-bounded semisymmetric weighted Catalan numbers ($k$-dimensional $u$-bounded SSWCNs). We define these two classes of numbers using the notion of semisymmetric height, a new statistic on points in $\mathbb{Z}^k_{\geq 0}$ motivated by geometric symmetries of $k$-dimensional analogs of Dyck paths and of the fundamental Weyl chamber of type $A_{k-1}$. For our main results, we prove the eventual periodicity of $k$-dimensional SSWCNs and their $u$-bounded variants modulo a suitable integer $m$, and we derive formulas for several classes of $k$-dimensional $u$-bounded SSWCNs. Additionally, using semisymmetric height, we derive novel analogs in the $k$-dimensional setting of the integer sequence counting Dyck paths by height and of the Narayana numbers. We conclude the paper with a future direction for generalizing weighted Catalan numbers to the $k$-dimensional setting.
The Simplicial Geometry of Integer Partitions: An Exact $O(1)$ Formula via $A_{k-1}$ Root Systems
We present a structural resolution to the exact evaluation of the partition function $p_k(n)$, addressing the limitations of traditional recursive and asymptotic methods. By introducing the Simplicial Successive Decomposition (SSD) framework, we demonstrate that the partition polytope $\mathcal{P}_{n,k}$ is not an arbitrary geometric object, but admits a rigid minimal unimodular triangulation into exactly $N_k = \binom{k}{2}$ simplices. This cardinality is determined by the positive root system of the $A_{k-1}$ Weyl chamber. We decompose Euler's generating function into a finite sum of simplicial rational transforms. By applying Brion's localization theorem and the negative binomial expansion, we derive an exact closed-form formula with $O(1)$ computational complexity. The validity of the model is confirmed through Ehrhart-Macdonald reciprocity, ensuring accuracy in the "Core Collapse" regime where the polytope's interior is empty and continuous volume approximations are inapplicable.
Products of Chern Classes and Chern Numbers on the Permutohedral Variety
A root system $Φ$ of rank $n$ determines an $n$-dimensional smooth projective toric variety $X(Φ)$ associated with the fan of its Weyl chambers. For the root system of type $A_n$, this variety is the well-known permutohedral variety $X_{A_n}$. Using purely combinatorial methods, we obtain an explicit closed formula expressing the product of Chern classes $c_k c_{n-k}$ as a multiple of the top Chern class $c_n$ in the rational cohomology ring $H^*(X_{A_n};\mathbb{Q})$. The resulting coefficient, which depends only on $k$ and $n$, is given by a closed-form expression. As an application, we compute the Chern number $\langle c_k c_{n-k}, [X_{A_n}] \rangle$.
Homology character of the parabolic coset poset
Motivated by the analogy with the Coxeter complex on one side, and parking functions on the other side, we study the poset of parabolic cosets in a finite Coxeter group. We show that this poset is Cohen-Macaulay, and get an explicit formula for the character of its (unique) nonzero homology group in terms of the Möbius function of the intersection lattice. This homology character becomes a positive element of the parabolic Burnside ring (in its natural basis) after tensoring with the sign character. The coefficients of this character essentially encode the colored $h$-vector of the positive chamber complex (following Bastidas, Hohlweg, and Saliola, this complex is defined by taking Weyl chambers that lie on the positive side of a generic hyperplane). Roughly speaking, tensoring by the sign character on one side corresponds to the transformation going from the $f$-vector to the $h$-vector on the other side.
Folded galleries and moment graphs
We characterize folding patterns, the combinatorial options of folding minimal alcove-to-alcove galleries in affine Coxeter complexes positively with respect to Weyl chamber orientations of the Coxeter complex, by drawing a connection to the Bruhat moment graph of the associated spherical Coxeter group. We also prove how to determine the spherical direction of the end alcove of a positively folded gallery using these graphs.
Asymptotics of Weighted Reflectable Walks in $A_2$
Lattice walks are used to model various physical phenomena. In particular, walks within Weyl chambers connect directly to representation theory via the Littelmann path model. We derive asymptotics for centrally weighted lattice walks within the Weyl chamber corresponding to $A_2$ by using tools from analytic combinatorics in several variables (ACSV). We find universality classes depending on the weights of the walks, in line with prior results on the weighted Gouyou-Beauchamps model. Along the way, we identify a type of singularity within a multivariate rational generating function that is not yet covered by the theory of ACSV. We conjecture asymptotics for this type of singularity.

For a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $A_n,B_n,C_n$ or $D_n$, we give a characterization of the set of dominant integral weights $λ$ such that for any rational point $μ$ in the fundamental Weyl chamber, $2λ-μ$ is a non-negative rational combination of the simple roots if and only if $V_{mμ}\subseteq V_{mλ}\otimes V_{mλ}$ for some positive integer $m$.
What is a $p$-adic Dyson Brownian motion?
We consider the singular numbers of a certain explicit continuous-time Markov jump process on $\mathrm{GL}_N(\mathbb{Q}_p)$, which we argue gives the closest $p$-adic analogue of multiplicative Dyson Brownian motion. We do so by explicitly classifying the possible dynamics of singular numbers of processes on $\mathrm{GL}_N(\mathbb{Q}_p)$ satisfying natural properties possessed by Brownian motion on $\mathrm{GL}_N(\mathbb{C})$. Computing the evolution of singular numbers explicitly, we find that the $N$-tuple of singular numbers in decreasing order evolves as a Poisson jump process on $\mathbb{Z}^N$, with ordering enforced by reflection off the walls of the positive type $A$ Weyl chamber. This contrasts with -- and provides a $p$-adic analogue to -- the behavior of classical Dyson Brownian motion, where ordering is enforced by conditioning to avoid the Weyl chamber walls.

The identities which are in the literature often called ``bounded Littlewood identities" are determinantal formulas for the sum of Schur functions indexed by partitions with bounded height. They have interesting combinatorial consequences such as connections between standard Young tableaux of bounded height, lattice walks in a Weyl chamber, and noncrossing matchings. In this paper we prove affine analogs of the bounded Littlewood identities. These are determinantal formulas for sums of cylindric Schur functions. We also study combinatorial aspects of these identities. As a consequence we obtain an unexpected connection between cylindric standard Young tableaux and \( r \)-noncrossing and \( s \)-nonnesting matchings.

We consider the simplices $$ K_n^A=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^{n+1}:x_1\ge x_2\ge \ldots\ge x_{n+1},x_1-x_{n+1}\le 1,x_1+\ldots+x_{n+1}=0\} $$ and $$ K_n^B=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^n:1\ge x_1\ge x_2\ge \ldots\ge x_n\ge 0\}, $$ which are called the Schläfli orthoschemes of types $A$ and $B$, respectively. We describe the tangent cones at their $j$-faces and compute explicitly the sum of the conic intrinsic volumes of these tangent cones at all $j$-faces of $K_n^A$ and $K_n^B$. This setting contains sums of external and internal angles of $K_n^A$ and $K_n^B$ as special cases. The sums are evaluated in terms of Stirling numbers of both kinds. We generalize these results to finite products of Schläfli orthoschemes of type $A$ and $B$ and, as a probabilistic consequence, derive formulas for the expected number of $j$-faces of the Minkowski sums of the convex hulls of a finite number of Gaussian random walks and random bridges. Furthermore, we evaluate the analogous angle sums for the tangent cones of Weyl chambers of types $A$ and $B$ and finite products thereof.

We give a new, direct proof of the formulas for the conic intrinsic volumes of the Weyl chambers of types $A_{n-1}, B_n$ and $D_n$. These formulas express the conic intrinsic volumes in terms of the Stirling numbers of the first kind and their $B$- and $D$-analogues. The proof involves an explicit determination of the internal and external angles of the faces of the Weyl chambers.

We consider $d$-dimensional random vectors $Y_1,\dots,Y_n$ that satisfy a mild general position assumption a.s. The hyperplanes \begin{align*} (Y_i-Y_j)^\perp\;\; (1\le i<j\le n). \end{align*} generate a conical tessellation of the Euclidean $d$-space which is closely related to the Weyl chambers of type $A_{n-1}$. We determine the number of cones in this tessellation and show that it is a.s. constant. For a random cone chosen uniformly at random from this random tessellation, we compute expectations for a general series of geometric functionals. These include the face numbers, as well as the conic intrinsic volumes and the conic quermassintegrals. Under the additional assumption of exchangeability on $Y_1,\ldots,Y_n$, the same is done for the dual random cones which have the same distribution as the positive hull of $Y_1-Y_2,\ldots, Y_{n-1}-Y_n$ conditioned on the event that this positive hull is not equal to $\mathbb R^d$. All these expectations turn out to be distribution-free. Similarly, we consider the conical tessellation induced by the hyperplanes \begin{align*} (Y_i+Y_j)^\perp\;\; (1 \le i<j\le n),\quad (Y_i-Y_j)^\perp\;\; (1\le i<j\le n),\quad Y_i^\perp\;\; (1\le i\le n) \end{align*} This tessellation is closely related to the Weyl chambers of type $B_n$. We compute the number of cones in this tessellation and the expectations of various geometric functionals for random cones drawn from this random tessellation. The main ingredient in the proofs is a connection between the number of faces of the tessellation and the number of faces of the Weyl chambers of the corresponding type that are intersected by a certain linear subspace in general position.
Weyl chambers for short step Quarter-plane Lattice Paths
We consider four examples of short step lattice paths confined to the quarter plane. These are the Kreweras, Reverse Kreweras, Gessel, and Mishna-Rechnitzer lattice paths. The Reverse Kreweras are straightforward to solve and thus interesting as a contrast to the Kreweras paths and Gessel paths as the latter two have historically been significantly more difficult to solve. The Mishna-Rechnitzer paths are interesting as they are associated with an infinite order group. We will give some geometrical insight into all these properties by considering the Weyl chambers associated with their step sets. For Reverse Kreweras paths the Weyl chamber walls coincide with the quarter plane boundary and hence the problem is readily solvable by Bethe Ansatz or by using the Gessel-Zeilberger Theorem. For Kreweras paths the quarter plane corresponds to the union of two adjacent Weyl Chambers and hence neither the Bethe Ansatz nor the Gessel-Zeilberger Theorem are directly applicable making the problem considerably more difficult to solve. Similarly, the quarter plane for Gessel paths is the union of three Weyl chambers. For Mishna-Rechnitzer paths the step set has non-zero barycenter leading to an affine dihedral reflection group. The affine structure corresponds to the drift in the random walk. The quarter plane is the union of an infinite number of Weyl alcoves.

Gessel and Zeilberger generalized the reflection principle to handle walks confined to Weyl chambers, under some restrictions on the allowable steps. For those models that are invariant under the Weyl group action, they express the counting function for the walks with fixed starting and endpoint as a constant term in the Taylor series expansion of a rational function. Here, we focus on the simplest case, the Weyl groups $A_1^d$, which correspond to walks in the first orthant $\mathbb{N}^d$ taking steps from a subset of $\{\pm1, 0\}^d$ which is invariant under reflection across any axis. The principle novelty here is the incorporation of weights on the steps and the main result is a very general theorem giving asymptotic enumeration formulas for walks that end anywhere in the orthant. The formulas are determined by singularity analysis of multivariable rational functions, an approach that has already been successfully applied in numerous related cases.
The volume polynomial of regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties and the Gelfand-Zetlin polytope
Regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties are subvarieties of the flag variety $\mathrm{Flag}(\mathbb{C}^n)$ arising naturally in the intersection of geometry, representation theory, and combinatorics. Recent results of Abe-Horiguchi-Masuda-Murai-Sato and Abe-DeDieu-Galetto-Harada relate the volume polynomials of regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties to the volume polynomial of the Gelfand-Zetlin polytope $\mathrm{GZ}(λ)$ for $λ=(λ_1,λ_2,\ldots,λ_n)$. The main results of this manuscript use and generalize tools developed by Anderson-Tymoczko, Kiritchenko-Smirnov-Timorin, and Postnikov, in order to derive an explicit formula for the volume polynomials of regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties in terms of the volumes of certain faces of the Gelfand-Zetlin polytope, and also exhibit a manifestly positive, combinatorial formula for their coefficients with respect to the basis of monomials in the $α_i := λ_i-λ_{i+1}$. In addition, motivated by these considerations, we carefully analyze the special case of the permutohedral variety, which is also known as the toric variety associated to Weyl chambers. In this case, we obtain an explicit decomposition of the permutohedron (the moment map image of the permutohedral variety) into combinatorial $(n-1)$-cubes, and also give a geometric interpretation of this decomposition by expressing the cohomology class of the permutohedral variety in $\mathrm{Flag}(\mathbb{C}^n)$ as a sum of the cohomology classes of a certain set of Richardson varieties.
Asymptotics for the number of zero drift reflectable walks in a Weyl chamber of type A
We study lattice walks in a Weyl chamber of type A with fixed or free end points. For lattice walk models with zero drift that may be counted by means of a reflection argument, we determine asymptotics for the number of such walks as their length tends to infinity. These models are equivalent to the lock step model and the random turns model of vicious walkers. As special cases, our main results include various asymptotic formulas found in the literature.

Positive temperature dynamics on Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns restricted by wall
The thesis focuses on processes on symplectic Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns. In chapter 4, a process with dynamics inspired by the Berele correspondence [Ber86] is presented. It is proved that the shape of the pattern is a Doob $h$-transform of independent random walks with $h$ given by the symplectic Schur function. This is followed by an extension to a $q$-weighted version. This randomised version has itself a branching structure and is related to a $q$-deformation of the $so_{2n+1}$-Whittaker functions. In chapter 5, we present a fully randomised process. This process $q$-deforms a process proposed in [WW09]. In chapter 7 we prove the convergence of the $q$-deformation of the $so_{2n+1}$-Whittaker functions to the classical $so_{2n+1}$-Whittaker functions when $q \to 1$. Finally, in chapter 8 we turn our interest to the continuous setting and construct a process on patterns which contains a positive temperature analogue of the Dyson's Brownian motion of type $B/C$. The processes obtained are $h$-transforms of Brownian motions killed at a continuous rate that depends on their distance from the boundary of the Weyl chamber of type $B/C$, with $h$ related with the $so_{2n+1}$-Whittaker functions.
Convex hulls of random walks: Expected number of faces and face probabilities

Consider a sequence of partial sums $S_i= ξ_1+\dots+ξ_i$, $1\leq i\leq n$, starting at $S_0=0$, whose increments $ξ_1,\dots,ξ_n$ are random vectors in $\mathbb R^d$, $d\leq n$. We are interested in the properties of the convex hull $C_n:=\mathrm{Conv}(S_0,S_1,\dots,S_n)$. Assuming that the tuple $(ξ_1,\dots,ξ_n)$ is exchangeable and a certain general position condition holds, we prove that the expected number of $k$-dimensional faces of $C_n$ is given by the formula $$ \mathbb E [f_k(C_n)] = \frac{2\cdot k!}{n!} \sum_{l=0}^{\infty}\genfrac{[}{]}{0pt}{}{n+1}{d-2l} \genfrac{\{}{\}}{0pt}{}{d-2l}{k+1}, $$ for all $0\leq k \leq d-1$, where $\genfrac{[}{]}{0pt}{}{n}{m}$ and $\genfrac{\{}{\}}{0pt}{}{n}{m}$ are Stirling numbers of the first and second kind, respectively.
Further, we compute explicitly the probability that for given indices $0\leq i_1<\dots <i_{k+1}\leq n$, the points $S_{i_1},\dots,S_{i_{k+1}}$ form a $k$-dimensional face of $\mathrm{Conv}(S_0,S_1,\dots,S_n)$. This is done in two different settings: for random walks with symmetrically exchangeable increments and for random bridges with exchangeable increments. These results generalize the classical one-dimensional discrete arcsine law for the position of the maximum due to E. Sparre Andersen. All our formulae are distribution-free, that is do not depend on the distribution of the increments $ξ_k$'s.
The main ingredient in the proof is the computation of the probability that the origin is absorbed by a joint convex hull of several random walks and bridges whose increments are invariant with respect to the action of direct product of finitely many reflection groups of types $A_{n-1}$ and $B_n$. This probability, in turn, is related to the number of Weyl chambers of a product-type reflection group that are intersected by a linear subspace in general position.

In the study of lattice walks there are several examples of enumerative equivalences which amount to a trade-off between domain and endpoint constraints. We present a family of such bijections for simple walks in Weyl chambers which use arc diagrams in a natural way. One consequence is a set of new bijections for standard Young tableaux of bounded height. A modification of the argument in two dimensions yields a bijection between Baxter permutations and walks ending on an axis, answering a recent question of Burrill et al. (2016). Some of our arguments (and related results) are proved using Schnyder woods. Our strategy for simple walks extends to any dimension and yields a new bijective connection between standard Young tableaux of height at most $2k$ and certain walks with prescribed endpoints in the $k$-dimensional Weyl chamber of type D.
