On Borel orbits of quadratic forms in characteristic 2
We consider the spherical variety of quadratic forms over a quadratically closed field of characteristic 2, and determine its orbits for the action of the Borel subgroup of upper triangular matrices. We exhibit a connection between these orbits and the Catalan triangle numbers. In addition, we describe explicitly a natural Weyl group action on the set of Borel orbit double covers
Quantum K--theory of Grassmannians from a Yang-Baxter algebra
In an earlier paper, two of the authors defined a $5$-vertex Yang-Baxter algebra (a Hopf algebra) which acts on the sum of the equivariant quantum K-rings of Grassmannians $\mathrm{Gr}(k;n)$, where $k$ varies from $0$ to $n$. We construct geometrically defined operators on quantum K-rings describing this action. In particular, the $R$-matrix defining the Yang-Baxter algebra corresponds to the left Weyl group action. Most importantly, we use the `quantum=classical' statement for the quantum K-theory of Grassmannians to prove an explicit geometric interpretation of the action of generators of the Yang-Baxter algebra. The diagonal entries of the monodromy matrix are given by quantum K-multiplications by explicitly defined classes, and the off-diagonal entries by certain push-pull convolutions. We use this to find a quantization of the classes of fixed points in the quantum K-rings, corresponding to the Bethe vectors of the Yang-Baxter algebra. On each of the quantum K-rings, we prove that the two Frobenius structures (one from geometry, and the other from the integrable system construction) coincide. We discuss several applications, including an action of the extended affine Weyl group on the quantum K-theory ring (extending the Seidel action), a quantum version of the localization map (which is a ring homomorphism with respect to the quantum K-product), and a graphical calculus to multiply by Hirzebruch $λ_y$ classes of the dual of the tautological quotient bundle. In an Appendix we illustrate our results in the case when $n=2$.
Singular loci of Schubert varieties and the Lookup Conjecture in type $\tilde A_{2}$
We describe the loci of non-rationally smooth (nrs) points and of singular points for any non-spiral Schubert variety of $\tilde{A}_2$ in terms of the geometry of the (affine) Weyl group action on the plane $\mathbb{R}^2$. Together with the results of Graham and Li for spiral elements, this allows us to explicitly identify the maximal singular and nrs points in any Schubert variety of type $\tilde{A}_2$. Comparable results are not known for any other infinite-dimensional Kac-Moody flag variety (except for type $\tilde{A}_1$, where every Schubert variety is rationally smooth). As a consequence, we deduce that if $x$ is a point in a non-spiral Schubert variety $X_w$, then $x$ is nrs in $X_w$ if and only if there are more than $\dim X_w$ curves in $X_w$ through $x$ which are stable under the action of a maximal torus, as is true for Schubert varieties in (finite) type $A$. Combined with the work of Graham and Li for spiral Schubert varieties, this implies the Lookup Conjecture for $\tilde{A}_2$.
Comet-shaped quiver varieties, Weyl group actions, and modified Kostka polynomials
We study an algebra spanned by modified Kostka polynomials. Particular structure coefficients of this algebra are interpreted as traces of some Weyl group actions on the intersection cohomology of comet-shaped quiver varieties.
Crystal invariant theory II: Pseudo-energies
The geometric crystal operators and geometric $R$-matrices (or geometric Weyl group actions) give commuting actions on the field of rational functions in $mn$ variables. We study the invariants of various combinations of these actions, which we view as "crystal analogues" of the invariants of $S_m$, ${\rm SL}_m$, $S_n \times S_m$, ${\rm SL}_n \times \, S_m$, and ${\rm SL}_n \times {\rm SL}_m$ acting on the polynomial ring in an $m \times n$ matrix of variables. The polynomial invariants of the $S_m$-action generated by the ${\rm GL}_m$-geometric $R$-matrices were described by Lam and the third-named author as the ring of loop symmetric functions. In a previous paper of the authors, the polynomial invariants of the ${\rm GL}_m$-geometric crystal operators were described as a subring of the ring of loop symmetric functions.
In this paper, we give conjectural generating sets for the fields of rational invariants in the remaining cases, and we give formulas expressing a large class of loop symmetric functions in terms of these conjectural generators. Our results include new positive formulas for the central charge and energy function of a product of single-row geometric crystals, and a new derivation of Kirillov and Berenstein's piecewise-linear formula for cocharge. The formulas manifest the symmetries possessed by these functions.

Fock and Goncharov introduced a family of cluster algebras associated with the moduli of SL(k)-local systems on a marked surface with extra decorations at marked points. We study this family from an algebraic and combinatorial perspective, emphasizing the structures which arise when the surface has punctures. When k is 2, these structures are the tagged arcs and tagged triangulations of Fomin, Shapiro, and Thurston. For higher k, the tagging of arcs is replaced by a Weyl group action at punctures discovered by Goncharov and Shen. We pursue a higher analogue of a tagged triangulation in the language of tensor diagrams, extending work of Fomin and the second author, and we formulate skein-algebraic tools for calculating in these cluster algebras. We analyze the finite mutation type examples in detail.

Sahi, Stokman, and Venkateswaran have constructed, for each positive integer $n$, a family of Laurent polynomials depending on parameters $q$ and $k$ (in addition to $\lfloor n/2\rfloor$ "metaplectic parameters"), such that the $n=1$ case recovers the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials and the $q\rightarrow\infty$ limit yields metaplectic Iwahori-Whittaker functions with arbitrary Gauss sum parameters. In this paper, we study these new polynomials, which we call SSV polynomials, in the case of $GL_r$. We apply a result of Ram and Yip in order to give a combinatorial formula for the SSV polynomials in terms of alcove walks. The formula immediately shows that the SSV polynomials satisfy a triangularity property with respect to a version of the Bruhat order, which in turn gives an independent proof that the SSV polynomials are a basis for the space of Laurent polynomials. The result is also used to show that the SSV polynomials have \emph{fewer} terms than the corresponding Macdonald polynomials. We also record an alcove walk formula for the natural generalization of the permuted basement Macdonald polynomials. We then construct a symmetrized variant of the SSV polynomials: these are symmetric with respect to a conjugate of the Chinta-Gunnells Weyl group action and reduce to symmetric Macdonald polynomials when $n=1$. We obtain an alcove walk formula for the symmetrized polynomials as well. Finally, we calculate the $q\rightarrow 0$ and $q\rightarrow \infty$ limits of the SSV polynomials and observe that our combinatorial formula can be written in terms of alcove walks with only positive and negative folds respectively. In both of these $q$-limit cases, we also observe a positivity result for the coefficients.
The asymptotics of reflectable weighted walks in arbitrary dimension

Gessel and Zeilberger generalized the reflection principle to handle walks confined to Weyl chambers, under some restrictions on the allowable steps. For those models that are invariant under the Weyl group action, they express the counting function for the walks with fixed starting and endpoint as a constant term in the Taylor series expansion of a rational function. Here, we focus on the simplest case, the Weyl groups $A_1^d$, which correspond to walks in the first orthant $\mathbb{N}^d$ taking steps from a subset of $\{\pm1, 0\}^d$ which is invariant under reflection across any axis. The principle novelty here is the incorporation of weights on the steps and the main result is a very general theorem giving asymptotic enumeration formulas for walks that end anywhere in the orthant. The formulas are determined by singularity analysis of multivariable rational functions, an approach that has already been successfully applied in numerous related cases.

Let $V$ be a highest weight module over a Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, and let conv $V$ denote the convex hull of its weights. We determine the combinatorial isomorphism type of conv $V$, i.e. we completely classify the faces and their inclusions. In the special case where $\mathfrak{g}$ is semisimple, this brings closure to a question studied by Cellini-Marietti [IMRN 2015] for the adjoint representation, and by Khare [J. Algebra 2016; Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 2017] for most modules. The determination of faces of finite-dimensional modules up to the Weyl group action and some of their inclusions also appears in previous work of Satake [Ann. of Math. 1960], Borel-Tits [IHES Publ. Math. 1965], Vinberg [Izv. Akad. Nauk 1990], and Casselman [Austral. Math. Soc. 1997].
For any subset of the simple roots, we introduce a remarkable convex cone which we call the universal Weyl polyhedron, which controls the convex hulls of all modules parabolically induced from the corresponding Levi factor. Namely, the combinatorial isomorphism type of the cone stores the classification of faces for all such highest weight modules, as well as how faces degenerate as the highest weight gets increasingly singular. To our knowledge, this cone is new in finite and infinite type.
We further answer a question of Michel Brion, by showing that the localization of conv $V$ along a face is always the convex hull of the weights of a parabolically induced module. Finally, as we determine the inclusion relations between faces representation-theoretically from the set of weights, without recourse to convexity, we answer a similar question for highest weight modules over symmetrizable quantum groups.

Arc permutations and unimodal permutations were introduced in the study of triangulations and characters. This paper studies combinatorial properties and structures on these permutations. First, both sets are characterized by pattern avoidance. It is also shown that arc permutations carry a natural affine Weyl group action, and that the number of geodesics between a distinguished pair of antipodes in the associated Schreier graph, as well as the number of maximal chains in the weak order on unimodal permutations, are both equal to twice the number of standard Young tableaux of shifted staircase shape. Finally, a bijection from non-unimodal arc permutations to Young tableaux of certain shapes, which preserves the descent set, is described and applied to deduce a conjectured character formula of Regev.

Generalized alcoved polytopes are polytopes whose facet normals are roots in a given root system. We call a set of points in an alcoved polytope a generating set if there does not exist a strictly smaller alcoved polytope containing it. The type $A$ alcoved polytopes are precisely the tropical polytopes that are also convex in the usual sense. In this case the tropical generators form a generating set. We show that for any root system other than $F_4$, every alcoved polytope invariant under the natural Weyl group action has a generating set of cardinality equal to the Coxeter number of the root system.

This paper concerns the combinatorics of the orbit Hecke algebra associated with the orbit of a two sided Weyl group action on the Renner monoid of a finite monoid of Lie type, $M$. It is shown by Putcha in \cite{Putcha97} that the Kazhdan-Lusztig involution (\cite{KL79}) can be extended to the orbit Hecke algebra which enables one to define the $R$-polynomials of the intervals contained in a given orbit. Using the $R$-polynomials, we calculate the Möbius function of the Bruhat-Chevalley ordering on the orbits. Furthermore, we provide a necessary condition for an interval contained in a given orbit to be isomorphic to an interval in some Weyl group.
A Commutative Family of Integral Transformations and Basic Hypergeometric Series. II. Eigenfunctions and Quasi-Eigenfunctions
A series of conjectures is obtained as further investigation of the integral transformation I(alpha) introduced in the previous paper. A Macdonald-type difference operator D is introduced. It is conjectured that D and I(alpha) are commutative with each other. Studying the series for the eigenfunctions under termination conditions, it is observed that a deformed Weyl group action appears as a hidden symmetry. An infinite product formula for the eigenfunction is found for a spacial case of parameters. A one parameter family of hypergeometric-type series F(alpha) is introduced. The series F(alpha) is caracterized by a covariant transformation property I(alpha q^{-1} t) F(alpha)=F(alpha q^{-1} t) and a certain initial condition given at alpha=t^{1/2}. We call F(alpha) the `quasi-eigenfunction' for short. A class of infinite product-type expressions are conjectured for F(alpha) at the special points alpha=-t^{1/2}, alpha=q, alpha=pm q^{1/2}t^{1/2}, and alpha=pm q^{ell}t^{1/2} (ell=1,2,3,cdots).

We also investigate birational Weyl group actions related to those algorithms.
