Kostant--Kumar modules: presentation and multiplicities
Kostant--Kumar modules $K(λ,w,μ)$ are submodules of a tensor product $V(λ)\otimes V(μ)$ of irreducible highest weight modules over a symmetrizable Kac--Moody algebra, indexed by Weyl group elements $w$; their decomposition numbers $c^ν_{λμ}(w)$ refine ordinary tensor product multiplicities. We study them module-theoretically. We show that $c^ν_{λμ}(w)$ is computed by a natural quotient of the Kostant--Parthasarathy--Ranga Rao--Varadarajan multiplicity space, via orthogonal projection onto a Demazure module. For $\mathfrak{g}$ finite-dimensional semisimple or symmetric Kac--Moody, we present $K(λ,w,μ)$ by generators and relations, extending the presentation of Demazure modules due to Joseph, Polo and Mathieu. We apply the presentation to obtain upper bounds on $c^ν_{λμ}(w)$ and to study Schur positivity.

On some components of $L(ρ)\otimes L(ρ)$ associated with rooted trees for symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra over $\mathbb{C}$ and let $L(ρ)$ be the irreducible integrable $\mathfrak{g}$-module with highest weight $ρ$. Let $I$ be a subgraph of the Dynkin diagram of $\mathfrak{g}$ which has only simple bonds and no cycle of length $\geq 3$. For every subset $D$ of $I$, denote by $β_D$ the sum of the simple roots corresponding to $D$. To every $D \subset I$ such that $λ_{D,I} = 2ρ- β_I - β_D$ is dominant, we associate certain elements $π_{D,I}$ of weight $λ_{D,I} {-} ρ$ in the crystal $B(ρ)$, which depend on the choice of a root vertex in each connected component of $I$. Then we prove that our elements are $ρ$-dominant elements of $B(ρ)$, hence provide new families of components of the tensor product $L(ρ)\otimes L(ρ)$.
On factorization of matrix of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials
Let $\mathcal{H} = \mathcal{H}(W,S)$ be the Hecke algebra of the Coxeter system $(W,S)$ over $\mathbb{Z}[q^{\pm1}]$, where $W$ is the Weyl group of a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra. In this paper, we show that the matrix of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of $\mathcal{H}$ factorizes into a product of $|S|$ many matrices, each of which has entries as polynomials in $q$ with nonnegative coefficients. To achieve this goal, we use hybrid basis $TC^J$ for $J\subseteq S$ of $\mathcal{H}$, defined by Grojnowski-Haiman. The intermediate matrices in the aforementioned factorization turn out to be the transition matrices from $TC^J$-basis to $TC^I$-basis for $I\subset J$. Equivalently, these coefficients can be computed using a natural restriction map from $\mathcal{H}$ to the parabolic Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_J$. Moreover, following the ideas from Grojnowski-Haiman, we also give a geometric proof of the positivity of these coefficients.

Kac--Moody Fibonacci sequences
We summarize known results on how to generate an infinite family of integer sequences from the root lattices of rank 2 Kac--Moody algebras. We compute and tabulate the first twenty entries of a number of these sequences. This provides an overarching framework for a large class of Fibonacci-type integer sequences, evaluations of Chebyshev S and U-polynomials and others.

Tensor Product Decompositions, Limits in Excellent Filtrations, Affine Weyl Group Orbits, and Tableaux Counting
We express the outer multiplicities in the tensor products of two fundamental simple modules for an affine Kac-Moody algebra of type $A$ in terms of counting certain sets of multipartitions by exploring the stabilizing limits of certain excellent filtrations. This extends for all ranks a previously obtained result by Jakelić and the second author for rank $1$. The same outer multiplicities were previously computed by Misra and Wilson in terms of counting certain sets of tableaux. By comparing these two expressions and by explicitly exhibiting a combinatorial description of level-$2$ affine Weyl group orbits, we establish the existence of a bijection between the Misra-Wilson set of tableaux and a disjoint union of certain sets of multipartitions.

Standard posets and integral weight bases for symmetric powers of minuscule representations
This paper extends our earlier work where we constructed ``minuscule'' representations of Kac--Moody algebras from colored posets in a way that maintains key properties of the well-known minuscule representations of simple Lie algebras. In this paper we work only with finite posets. We define standard posets here as ones that can be used to construct weight bases of $m^\text{th}$ symmetric powers ($m \ge 1$) of these minuscule Kac--Moody representations over the integers in a certain fashion. Our main result is to show that our ``$Γ$-colored $d$-complete'' and ``$Γ$-colored minuscule'' posets are standard. When the algebra at hand is a simply laced simple Lie algebra and the representation minuscule in the classic sense (i.e. isomorphic to irreducible $V(λ)$ for minuscule highest weight $λ$), our result produces a concrete combinatorially described weight basis for the irreducible representation $V(mλ)$ that is indexed in a natural fashion by $m$-multichains in the weight lattice for $V(λ)$. C.S. Seshadri first showed such an indexing of a basis is possible. Our work here is entirely combinatorial and does not use results or techniques from algebraic geometry. Constructions in this paper are independent of Lie type and actions of Kac--Moody algebra elements on basis vectors are effectively specified.

Upper cluster structure on Kac--Moody Richardson varieties
We show coordinate rings of open Richardson varieties are upper cluster algebras for any symmetrizable Kac--Moody type. We further show the coordinate rings of (generalized) open Richardson varieties on the twisted product of flag varieties are upper cluster algebras for any symmetrizable Kac--Moody type. This includes, as special cases, reduced double Bruhat cells, Bott-Samelson varieties, braid varieties. Our results generalize various results by Casals--Gorsky--Gorsky--Le--Shen--Simental and Galashin--Lam--Sherman-Bennett--Speyer in finite types.

New cosystolic high-dimensional expanders from KMS groups
Cosystolic expansion is a high-dimensional generalization of the Cheeger constant for simplicial complexes. Originally, this notion was motivated by the fact that it implies the topological overlapping property, but more recently it was shown to be connected to problems in theoretical computer science such as list agreement expansion and agreement expansion in the low soundness regime. There are only a few constructions of high-dimensional cosystolic expanders and, in dimension larger than $2$, the only known constructions prior to our work were (co-dimension 1)-skeletons of quotients of affine buildings. In this paper, we give the first coset complex construction of cosystolic expanders for an arbitrary dimension. Our construction is more symmetric and arguably more elementary than the previous constructions relying on quotients of affine buildings. The coset complexes we consider arise from finite quotients of Kac--Moody--Steinberg (KMS) groups and are known as KMS complexes. KMS complexes were introduced in recent work by Grave de Peralta and Valentiner-Branth where it was shown that they are local-spectral expanders. Our result is that KMS complexes, satisfying some minor condition, give rise to infinite families of bounded degree cosystolic expanders of arbitrary dimension and for any finitely generated Abelian coefficient group. This result is achieved by observing that proper links of KMS complexes are joins of opposition complexes in spherical buildings. In order to show that these opposition complexes are coboundary expanders, we develop a new method for constructing cone functions by iteratively adding sets of vertices. Hence we show that the links of KMS complexes are coboundary expanders. Using the prior local-to-global results, we obtain cosystolic expansion for the (co-dimension 1)-skeletons of the KMS complexes.

A conjecture on monomial realizations and polyhedral realizations for crystal bases
Crystal bases are powerful combinatorial tools in the representation theory of quantum groups $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ for a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras $\mathfrak{g}$. The polyhedral realizations are combinatorial descriptions of the crystal base $B(\infty)$ for Verma modules in terms of the set of integer points of a polyhedral cone, which equals the string cone when $\mathfrak{g}$ is finite dimensional simple. It is a fundamental and natural problem to find explicit forms of the polyhedral cone. The monomial realization expresses crystal bases $B(λ)$ of integrable highest weight representations as Laurent monomials with double indexed variables. In this paper, we give a conjecture between explicit forms of the polyhedral cones and monomial realizations. We prove the conjecture is true when $\mathfrak{g}$ is a classical Lie algebra, a rank $2$ Kac-Moody algebra or a classical affine Lie algebra.

Odd Verma's Theorem
We formulate several basic properties of Verma supermodules over regular symmetrizable Kac--Moody Lie superalgebras, exhibiting $\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)$-nature as revealed through changing Borel subalgebras. We investigate variants of Verma modules obtained by changing Borel subalgebras, which enable us to realize the principal block of $\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)$ as an extension-closed abelian subcategory of category $\mathcal{O}$. This phenomenon is precisely formulated in terms of semibricks. On the other hand, by applying the exchange property of odd reflections, we describe compositions of homomorphisms between Verma modules associated with different Borel subalgebras that share the same character. As an application, we refine existing results on the associated varieties and projective dimensions of Verma modules.

A new grounded partition identity of type $D_4^{(3)}$
In this paper, we prove a new Rogers--Ramanujan-type identity, involving grounded partitions, by computing a character of the affine Kac--Moody algebra $D_4^{(3)}$ in two different ways. The product side is derived using Lepowsky's product formula, while the sum side is obtained using perfect crystals with a technique of Dousse and Konan.

Monomial realizations and LS paths of fundamental representations for rank $2$ Kac-Moody algebras
For a Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ of rank $2$ and a fundamental weight $λ$, we explicitly give an isomorphism between the set of Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths $\mathbb{B}(λ)$ and monomial realization $\mathcal{M}(λ)$. As an application, we also give an explicit form of monomial realization $\mathcal{M}(λ)$ in terms of Weyl groups.
Hook formula for Coxeter groups via the twisted group ring

We use Kostant and Kumar's twisted group ring and its dual to formulate and prove a generalization of Nakada's colored hook formula for any Coxeter groups. For dominant minuscule elements of the Weyl group of a Kac--Moody algebra, this provides another short proof of Nakada's colored hook formula.
High-dimensional expanders from Kac--Moody--Steinberg groups
Published in European Journal of Combinatorics Volume 126, May 2025, 104131 • View PublicationBIB
High-dimensional expanders are a generalization of the notion of expander graphs to simplicial complexes and give rise to a variety of applications in computer science and other fields. We provide a general tool to construct families of bounded degree high-dimensional spectral expanders. Inspired by the work of Kaufman and Oppenheim, we use coset complexes over quotients of Kac-Moody-Steinberg groups of rank $d+1$, $d$-spherical and purely $d$-spherical. We prove that infinite families of such quotients exist provided that the underlying field is of size at least 4 and the Kac-Moody-Steinberg group is 2-spherical, giving rise to new families of bounded degree high-dimensional expanders. In the case the generalized Cartan matrix we consider is affine, we recover the construction of O'Donnell and Pratt from 2022, (and thus also the one of Kaufman and Oppenheim) by considering Chevalley groups as quotients of affine Kac-Moody-Steinberg groups. Moreover, our construction applies to the case where the root system is of type $\tilde{G}_2$, a case that was not covered in earlier works.

Root generated subalgebras of symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras
The derived algebra of a symmetrizible Kac-Moody algebra $\lie g$ is generated (as a Lie algebra) by its root spaces corresponding to real roots. In this paper, we address the natural reverse question: given any subset of real root vectors, is the Lie subalgebra of $\lie g$ generated by these again the derived algebra of a Kac-Moody algebra? We call such Lie subalgebras root generated, give an affirmative answer to the above question and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between them, real closed subroot systems and $π$-systems contained in the positive system of $\lie g$. Finally, we apply these identifications to all untwised affine types in order to classify symmetric regular subalgebras first introduced by Dynkin in the finite-dimensional setting. We show that any root generated subalgebra associated to a maximal real closed subroot system can be embedded into a unique maximal symmetric regular subalgebra.

Classifying quotients on Coxeter groups by isomorphism in Bruhat order
We classify all quotients $W/W_J$ up to isomorphism in Bruhat order, with $(W,S)$ a Coxeter system and $W_J$ a parabolic subgroup of $W$. In particular, the non-trivial isomorphisms fall into a small number of cases which are highly restricted; all have $W$ finite and $W_J$ a maximal parabolic. This has the immediate application of classifying dominant and antidominant blocks of category $\mathcal O$ for Kac-Moody algebras up to equivalence.

Content systems and deformations of cyclotomic KLR algebras of type $A$ and $C$
Published in Annals of Representation Theory, 2 (2024), 193-297 • View PublicationBIB
This paper initiates a systematic study of the cyclotomic KLR algebras of affine types $A$ and $C$. We start by introducing a graded deformation of these algebras and the constructing all of the irreducible representations of the deformed cyclotomic KLR algebras using content systems and a generalisation of the Young's seminormal forms for the symmetric groups. Quite amazingly, this theory simultaneously captures the representation theory of the cyclotomic KLR algebras of types $A$ and $C$, with the main difference being the definition of residue sequences of tableaux. We then use our semisimple deformations to construct two "dual" cellular bases for the non-semisimple KLR algebras of affine types $A$ and $C$. As applications of this theory we recover many of the main features from the representation theory in type $A$, simultaneously proving them for the cyclotomic KLR algebras of types $A$ and $C$. These results are completely new in type $C$ and we, usually, more direct proofs in type $A$. In particular, we show that these algebras categorify the irreducible integrable highest weight modules of the corresponding Kac-Moody algebras, we construct and classify their simple modules, we investigate links with canonical bases and we generalise Kleshchev's modular branching rules to these algebras.

Nets in $\mathbb P^2$ and Alexander Duality
Published • View PublicationBIB
A net in $\mathbb{P}^2$ is a configuration of lines $\mathcal A$ and points $X$ satisfying certain incidence properties. Nets appear in a variety of settings, ranging from quasigroups to combinatorial design to classification of Kac-Moody algebras to cohomology jump loci of hyperplane arrangements. For a matroid $M$ and rank $r$, we associate a monomial ideal (a monomial variant of the Orlik-Solomon ideal) to the set of flats of $M$ of rank $\le r$. In the context of line arrangements in $\mathbb{P}^2$, applying Alexander duality to the resulting ideal yields insight into the combinatorial structure of nets.

Weak faces of highest weight modules and root systems
Published • View PublicationBIB
Chari and Greenstein [Adv. Math. 2009] introduced combinatorial subsets of the roots of a finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ which were important in studying Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{g}})$ and their specializations. Later, Khare [J. Algebra. 2016] studied these subsets for many highest weight $\mathfrak{g}$-modules (in finite type), under the name of weak-$\mathbb{A}$-faces (for a subgroup $\mathbb{A}$ of $(\mathbb{R},+)$), and more generally, $(\{2\};\{1,2\})$-closed subsets. These notions extend and unify the faces of Weyl polytopes as well as the above combinatorial subsets. In this paper, we consider these 'discrete' notions for all Kac-Moody algebras $\mathfrak{g}$, in four distinguished settings: (a) the weights of an arbitrary highest weight $\mathfrak{g}$-module $V$; (b) the convex hull of the weights of $V$; (c) the weights of the adjoint representation; (d) the roots of $\mathfrak{g}$. For (a) (resp., (b)) for all highest weight $\mathfrak{g}$-modules $V$, we show that the weak-$\mathbb{A}$-faces and $(\{2\};\{1,2\})$-closed subsets agree, and equal the sets of weights on exposed faces (resp., equal the exposed faces) of the convex hull of weights conv$_{\mathbb{R}}$ wt $V$. This completes the partial progress of Khare in finite type, and is novel in infinite type. Our proofs are type-free and self-contained. For (c), (d) involving the root system, we similarly achieve complete classifications. For all Kac-Moody $\mathfrak{g}$ - interestingly, other than $\mathfrak{sl}_3, \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_3}$ - we show the weak-$\mathbb{A}$-faces and $(\{2\};\{1,2\})$-closed subsets agree, and equal Weyl group translates of the sets of weights in certain 'standard faces' (which also holds for highest weight modules). This was proved by Chari and her coauthors for root systems in finite type, but is novel for other types.

Crystals of Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths and extremal weight modules over quantum hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebras of rank 2
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebra of rank $2$, and let $λ$ be an arbitrary integral weight. We denote by $\mathbb{B}(λ)$ the crystal of all Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths of shape $λ$. Let $V(λ)$ be the extremal weight module of extremal weight $λ$ generated by the (cyclic) extremal weight vector $v_λ$ of weight $λ$, and let $\mathcal{B}(λ)$ be the crystal basis of $V(λ)$ with $u_λ\in \mathcal{B}(λ)$ the element corresponding to $v_λ$. We prove that the connected component $\mathcal{B}_0(λ)$ of $\mathcal{B}(λ)$ containing $u_λ$ is isomorphic, as a crystal, to the connected component $\mathbb{B}_0(λ)$ of $\mathbb{B}(λ)$ containing the straight line $π_λ$. Furthermore, we prove that if $λ$ satisfies a special condition, then the crystal basis $\mathcal{B}(λ)$ is isomorphic, as a crystal, to the crystal $\mathbb{B}(λ)$. As an application of these results, we obtain an algorithm for computing the number of elements of weight $μ$ in $\mathcal{B}(Λ_1-Λ_2)$, where $Λ_1, Λ_2$ are the fundamental weights, in the case that $\mathfrak{g}$ is symmetric.
