Shifted Macdonald Polynomials and the $(q,t)$-Deformed Goulden--Jackson Product
In a preceding article, we introduced stable symmetric series encoding simultaneously the normalized conjugacy classes of all symmetric groups. The same rational series remain stable for the Jack-deformed Goulden--Jackson product. We investigate their two-parameter Macdonald analogue. Starting from the $(q,t)$-deformed class product (dual to the coproduct diagonal on the $J$-basis), we construct the unique infinite series whose multiplication realizes any shifted Macdonald eigenvalue. In contrast with the classical and Jack cases, this transform is no longer multiplication by a fixed explicit series. We identify it with a composition of a Cauchy multiplication, the integral nabla operator, and a simple diagonal operator. We then determine the series realizing the Nazarov--Sklyanin operators $A^{(k)}$, derive a single generating series for all column partitions, and compare our construction with the Macdonald characters and Theta operators of Ben Dali and D'Adderio.

Formulas for Koornwinder polynomials
This paper provides formulas for Koornwinder polynomials in analogy with the creation formula, the alcove walk formula and the non-attacking fillings formula for the type $GL_n$ Macdonald polynomials. We state the creation formula in terms of the divided-difference operators used in Schubert calculus, and we use a box-greedy reduced word to reformulate the alcove walk formula in terms of uncompressed set-valued tableaux. Then two types of compression, ``around-the-end compression'' and ``across-the-$0$-gap compression'', are used to derive a formula for Koornwinder polynomials in terms of compressed set-valued tableaux. Throughout we work in the full generality of relative Koornwinder polynomials, which are the analogues of the permuted basement Macdonald polynomials used in the type $GL_n$ case.

The Opdam-Cherednik kernel is the Laplace transform of a positive measure
We prove that the Opdam-Cherednik kernel, also known as the nonsymmetric Opdam hypergeometric function, can be written as the Laplace transform of a positive measure supported on the convex hull of the Weyl group orbit of its argument. As a consequence, the trigonometric Dunkl intertwining operator is positivity preserving. The main ingredient in the proof is a new formula for the Opdam-Cherednik kernel as a degeneration of nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials. As a further application, we prove majorization inequalities for Macdonald polynomials and Heckman-Opdam hypergeometric functions associated with arbitrary root systems.
Shape changing identities for permuted-basement nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials
Permuted-basement Macdonald polynomials $E_α^σ(\mathbf{x};q,t)$ are nonsymmetric generalizations of symmetric Macdonald polynomials that form a basis for the polynomial ring $\mathbb{Q}(q,t)[\mathbf{x}]$ for each fixed $σ$. There are combinatorial formulas for them as generating functions over composition-shaped non-attacking fillings. In this extended abstract, we bijectively prove identities for the relationship between $E_α^σ$, $E_α^{σs_i}$, $E_{s_iα}^σ$, and $E_{s_iα}^{σs_i}$. These identities correspond to two combinatorial operations on non-attacking fillings: (1) swapping adjacent entries in the basement, generalizing a result of Alexandersson (2019), and (2) swapping adjacent parts in the shape, which yields a straightening rule for expanding $E_α^σ$ in the polynomials $\{E_{s_iα}^τ\}_τ$.

Majorization Inequalities from Logarithmic Convexity
Majorization inequalities for symmetric polynomials have interested mathematicians for centuries, from the AM-GM inequality for two variables going back at least to Euclid, through classical results of Newton, Muirhead and Gantmacher, to more recent extensions to Schur polynomials and zonal spherical functions. These have been established case by case, with no unified approach. Although it is known that majorization inequalities follow from symmetry and convexity in the indexing partition, the difficulty of proving convexity in specific cases has left a number of outstanding conjectures inaccessible until now. The key insight of this paper is that log-convexity provides both a more versatile tool and a unifying principle. It implies convexity and hence majorization, and it is preserved under multiplication and weighted averaging, making it well suited to inductive arguments in a wide range of settings. Using this idea, we prove new majorization inequalities for Macdonald polynomials, Jack polynomials and Heckman-Opdam hypergeometric functions, unifying existing results and resolving several open conjectures.

Combinatorial formulas for symmetric Macdonald polynomials by superizations
In this paper, we derive new combinatorial formulas for symmetric Macdonald polynomials $P_λ(X;q,t)$ and integral Macdonald polynomials $J_λ(X;q,t)$, in terms of several new statistics and the major index for a partition $λ$. Moreover, three existing formulas for symmetric Macdonald polynomials established by Corteel--Mandelshtam--Williams (2022), Corteel--Haglund--Mandelshtam--Mason--Williams (2022) and Mandelshtam (2025) are recovered. Our proof relies on a new statistic on super fillings, employing the superization formula of Ayyer--Mandelshtam--Martin (2023) and our recent approach to modified Macdonald polynomials.

Symmetric polynomials: DIM integrable systems versus twisted Cherednik systems
We discuss interrelations between eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonians associated with the commutative (integer ray) subalgebras of the Ding-Iohara-Miki algebra and those of the twisted Cherednik system. In the case of $t=q^{-m}$ with natural $m$, eigenfunctions of the first system of Hamiltonians are the twisted Baker-Akhiezer functions (BAFs) introduced by O. Chalykh, while eigenfunctions of the twisted Cherednik Hamiltonians are twisted non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. Actually, the twisted Cherednik ground state is symmetric and coincides with a peculiar symmetric BAF. We lift this correspondence to excited states, and claim that both Cherednik eigenfunctions and BAF's can be combined to produce symmetric functions, which coincide with each other and are eigenfunctions of the both DIM Hamiltonians and power sums of the twisted Cherednik Hamiltonians at once. This reflects the correspondence between the DIM algebra and the spherical DAHA explicitly.
Hunting The Poles in the Staircases
Motivated by applications to the fractional quantum Hall effect and, in particular, to the Bernevig-Haldane conjectures, we investigates the behavior of Macdonald polynomials under specializations of the form q a t b = 1. Our main focus is to explain, in a simple and purely combinatorial way, why certain nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials indexed by staircase vectors with steps of height a and width b remain regular at the specialization q a t b+1 = 1, despite the presence of potential poles in their rational coefficients. To this end, we introduce a set of combinatorial tools that track how poles are created or cancelled along paths in the Yang-Baxter graph. By carefully constructing paths from the zero vector to the staircase and analyzing the resulting denominators, we show that the absence of certain poles follows from intrinsic symmetries and cancellations encoded in the Yang-Baxter graph.
Positive expansions of permuted basement and quasisymmetric Macdonald polynomials at $t=0$
It is well known that the $q$-Whittaker polynomials, which are $t=0$ specializations of the Macdonald polynomials $P_λ(X;q,t)$, expand positively as the sum of Schur polynomials. Macdonald polynomials have a quasisymmetric refinement: the quasisymmetric Macdonald polynomials $G_γ(X;q,t)$, and a nonsymmetric refinement: the ASEP polynomials $f_α(X;q,t)$. We study the $t=0$ specializations of both these families of polynomials and show analogous properties: the quasisymmetric Macdonald polynomials expand positively as a sum of quasisymmetric Schur functions, $\text{QS}_γ(X)$, and the ASEP polynomials expand positively as a sum of Demazure atoms, $\mathcal{A}_α(X)$. As a corollary of the latter, we prove more generally that any permuted basement Macdonald polynomial has a positive expansion in the Demazure atoms at $t=0$. We give a description of the structure coefficients of $G_γ(X;q,0)$ and $f_α(X;q,0)$ in both cases in terms of the charge statistic on a restricted set of semistandard tableaux.

Twisted Cherednik systems and non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials
We consider eigenfunctions of many-body system Hamiltonians associated with generalized (a-twisted) Cherednik operators used in construction of other Hamiltonians: those arising from commutative subalgebras of the Ding-Iohara-Miki (DIM) algebra. The simplest example of these eigenfunctions is provided by non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials, while generally they are constructed basing on the ground state eigenfunction coinciding with the twisted Baker-Akhiezer function being a peculiar (symmetric) eigenfunction of the DIM Hamiltonians. Moreover, the eigenfunctions admit an expansion with universal coefficients so that the dependence on the twist $a$ is hidden only in these ground state eigenfunctions, and we suggest a general formula that allows one to construct these eigenfunctions from non-symmetric Macdonald polynomials. This gives a new twist in theory of integrable systems, which usually puts an accent on symmetric polynomials, and provides a new dimension to the {\it triad} made from the symmetric Macdonald polynomials, untwisted Baker-Akhiezer functions and Noumi-Shiraishi series.

Superintegrability of $q,t$-matrix models and quantum toroidal algebra recursions
$q,t$-deformed matrix models give rise to representations of the deformed Virasoro algebra and more generally of the quantum toroidal $\mathfrak{gl}_1$ algebra. These representations are described in terms of finite difference equations that induce recursion relations for correlation functions. Under suitable assumptions, these recursions admit unique solutions expressible through "superintegrability" formulas, i.e. explicit closed formulas for averages of Macdonald polynomials. In this paper, we discuss examples arising from localization of 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ theories, which include $q,t$-deformation of well known classical ensembles: Gaussian, Laguerre and Jacobi. We explain how relations in the quantum toroidal algebra can be used to give a new and universal proof of the known superintegrability formulas, as well as to derive new formulas for models that have not been previously studied in the literature. Finally, we make some remarks regarding the relation between superintegrability and orthogonal polynomials.

A combinatorial formula for Interpolation Macdonald polynomials
In 1996, Knop and Sahi introduced a remarkable family of inhomogeneous symmetric polynomials, defined via vanishing conditions, whose top homogeneous parts are exactly the Macdonald polynomials. Like the Macdonald polynomials, these interpolation Macdonald polynomials are closely connected to the Hecke algebra, and admit nonsymmetric versions, which generalize the nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials. In this paper we give a combinatorial formula for interpolation Macdonald polynomials in terms of signed multiline queues; this formula generalizes the combinatorial formula for Macdonald polynomials in terms of multiline queues given by Corteel-Mandelshtam-Williams.
The nonsymmetric shuffle theorem
The shuffle conjecture of Haglund et al. expresses the symmetric function $\nabla e_n$ as a sum over labeled Dyck paths. Here $\nabla$ is an operator on symmetric functions defined in terms of its diagonal action on the basis of modified Macdonald polynomials. The shuffle conjecture was later refined by Haglund-Morse-Zabrocki to the compositional shuffle conjecture, expressing $\nabla C_α$ as a sum over labeled Dyck paths with touchpoints specified by $α$, where $C_α$ is a compositional Hall-Littlewood polynomial. Carlsson-Mellit settled both versions by developing the theory of a variant of the DAHA called the double Dyck path algebra. In a recent paper, we discovered a notion of nonsymmetric plethsym which led us to a construction of modified nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials $\mathsf{H}_{η|λ}(\mathbf{x};q,t)$. These polynomials Weyl symmetrize to their symmetric counterparts and are conjecturally atom positive. Here we introduce a nonsymmetric version $\boldsymbol{\nabla}$ of $\nabla$, now acting diagonally on the basis given by the functions $\mathsf{H}_{η|λ}(\mathbf{x};q,t)$. Weaving together our theory with results of Carlsson-Mellit and Mellit, we establish a nonsymmetric version of the compositional shuffle theorem, which equates $\boldsymbol{\nabla}^{-1}$ applied to a nonsymmetric version $\mathsf{C}_α$ of $C_α$ with a sum over flagged labeled Dyck paths with touchpoints given by $α$. This combinatorial sum is conjecturally atom positive, refining the known Schur positivity of its symmetric counterpart.

Majorization via positivity of Jack and Macdonald polynomial differences
Majorization inequalities have a long history, going back to Maclaurin and Newton. They were recently studied for several families of symmetric functions, including by Cuttler--Greene--Skandera (2011), Sra (2016), Khare--Tao (2021), McSwiggen--Novak (2022), and Chen--Sahi (2024+) among others. Here we extend the inequalities by these authors to Jack and Macdonald polynomials, and obtain conjectural characterizations of majorization and of weak majorization of the underlying partitions. We prove these characterizations for several cases of partitions, including all partitions with two parts. In fact, we upgrade -- and prove in the above cases -- the characterization of majorization, to containment of Jack and Macdonald differences lying in the Muirhead semiring.

A formula for the Jack super nabla operator
We study a Jack analog $\nabla(\mathbf{p},\mathbf{q})$ of the super nabla operator recently introduced by Bergeron, Haglund, Iraci and Romero for Macdonald polynomials. We prove that $\nabla(\mathbf{p},\mathbf{q})$ has a differential expression in the power-sum basis given in terms of Chapuy--Dołe\k{}ga and Nazarov--Sklyanin operators. This result is obtained from a more general formula for the operator $G(\mathbf{p},\mathbf{q})$ encoding the structure coefficients of Jack characters, from which $\nabla(\mathbf{p},\mathbf{q})$ is obtained by taking the top homogeneous part. A key step of the proof involves establishing that Chapuy--Dołe\k{}ga operators together with a dehomogenized version of Nazarov--Sklyanin operators have a Heisenberg algebra structure. The proof also uses a characterization of the operator $G(\mathbf{p},\mathbf{q})$ with a family of differential equations, recently established by the author.

Combinatorial proof of a permuted basement Macdonald polynomial identity
A well-known and fundamental property of the Macdonald polynomials $P_λ(x;q,t)$ is their invariance under the transformation sending $(q,t)$ to $(q^{-1},t^{-1})$. Recently, Concha and Lapointe showed that this property extends in an interesting, nontrivial way to an identity for partially symmetric Macdonald polynomials. Their identity played a key role in the work of Bechtloff Weising and Orr linking partially symmetric Macdonald polynomials to parabolic flag Hilbert schemes. In this paper, we refine the Concha-Lapointe identity to a sub-family of Alexandersson's permuted basement Macdonald polynomials and give a combinatorial proof of the refined identity. We show also that the Concha-Lapointe identity is equivalent to the assertion that (normalized) partially symmetric Macdonald polynomials are fixed under the Kazhdan-Lusztig involution.

Generalized Macdonald functions and quantum toroidal gl(1) algebra
The Macdonald operator is known to coincide with a certain element of the quantum toroidal $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$ algebra in the Fock representation of levels $(1,0)$. A generalization of this operator to higher levels $(r,0)$ can be built using the coproduct structure, it is diagonalized by the generalized Macdonald symmetric functions, indexed by $r$-tuple partitions and depending on $r$ alphabets. In this paper, we extend to the generalized case some of the known formulas obeyed by ordinary Macdonald symmetric functions, such as the $e_1$-Pieri rule or the identity relating them to Whittaker vectors obtained by Garsia, Haiman, and Tesler. We also propose a generalization of the five-term relation, and the Fourier/Hopf pairing. In addition, we prove the factorized expression of the generalized Macdonald kernel conjectured previously by Zenkevich.
Quantum Corner Polynomials: A Generalization of Super Macdonald Polynomials and Their VOA Correspondence
In this paper, we introduce a family of partially symmetric polynomials, which we call quantum corner polynomials, as a generalization of the Sergeev-Veselov super Macdonald polynomials. We show that these quantum corner polynomials are precisely the partially symmetric polynomials corresponding to the quantum corner VOAs. Furthermore, we provide a detailed proof of the partial symmetricity of these polynomials.
Ext operators for wreath Macdonald polynomials
We introduce a wreath Macdonald polynomial analogue of the Carlsson--Nekrasov--Okounkov vertex operator. As an application, we prove a modular $(q,t)$-Nekrasov--Okounkov formula for $r\ge 3$ originally conjectured by Walsh and Warnaar.

New formulas for Macdonald polynomials via the multispecies exclusion and zero range processes
Published in Contemporary Mathematics; Macdonald Theory and Beyond: Combinatorics, Geometry, and Integrable Systems, vol. 815, American Mathematical Society, Providence, RI, 2025 • View PublicationBIB
We describe some recently discovered connections between one-dimensional interacting particle models and Macdonald polynomials. The first such model is the multispecies asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) on a ring, linked to the symmetric Macdonald polynomial $P_λ(X;q,t)$ through its partition function. Through this connection, a new formula was found for $P_λ$ by generalizing multiline queues, which were introduced by Martin in 2018 to compute stationary probabilities of the ASEP. The second particle model is the multispecies totally asymmetric zero range process (TAZRP) on a ring, which was very recently found to have an analogous connection to the modified Macdonald polynomial $\widetilde{H}_λ(X;q,t)$ through its partition function. This discovery coincided with a new formula for $\widetilde{H}_λ$, this time in terms of tableaux with a queue inversion statistic, which also compute stationary probabilities of the TAZRP. We explain the plethystic relationship between multiline queues and queue inversion tableaux, and along the way, derive a new formula for $P_λ$ using the queue inversion statistic. This plethystic correspondence is closely related to fusion in the setting of integrable systems.
