Combinatorial and algebraic proofs of Keller's $A_2\square A_2$ $q$-dilogarithm identity
The classical Durfee-square argument gives a combinatorial proof of the pentagon identity for the quantum dilogarithm. Just as the pentagon identity is associated with the $A_2$ quiver, Keller's identity is associated with the square-product quiver $A_2\square A_2$. Previous proofs of Keller's identity use cluster categories or spectral sequences in rapid-decay equivariant cohomology. We give three proofs of Keller's identity: a generating-function proof, an explicit weight-preserving bijection on colored partitions, and a standard-monomial proof using a four-colored arc algebra. Their common mechanism is an iterated Durfee decomposition: two possible pairings give horizontal and vertical decompositions, while a third binary step accounts for the coupling factor. These constructions provide a ``superpotential analogue'' of the Durfee-square argument.
Sign Patterns in a Two Colored Partition Companion series
We study two closely related questions arising from the recent work of Andrews and El Bachraoui on the two-color partition series \[ S_1(q)=\sum_{n\ge0}s_1(n)q^n=\sum_{a\ge0}q^a(-q^{a+1};q)_\infty^2 \] and its odd companion, denoted by $T_o(q)$. First, for the eta-normalized companion \[ C(q)=(q;q)_\infty T_o(q)=\sum_{n\ge0}c(n)q^n, \] we prove a strong form of the Andrews--El Bachraoui sign conjecture that $\limsup c(n)=+\infty$ and $\liminf c(n)=-\infty$. Second, we construct an involution using the Franklin-type involution of Chen and Liu to combinatorially explain Andrews--El Bachraoui congruence for $s_1(n)$ modulo 4.
Combinatorial construction of Russell's series for partition classes defined by Capparelli, Meurman, Primc, and Primc in the $k$=1 Case
Recently, Capparelli, Meurman, A. Primc and M. Primc introduced a class of colored partitions which has since been called CMPP partitions. This generalized earlier work by M. Primc and Šikić, and by Trupčević. One main reason why CMPP partitions are significant is the authors' conjecture that the generating functions are infinite products in all cases. CMPP partitions are true extensions of the partition classes in the Rogers-Ramanujan-Gordon identities which are defined by difference conditions. As such, a natural question is to look for generating functions similar to the series side of Andrews-Gordon identities. Russell found such bivariate series for one case. He used symbolic computation in the proofs. We will combinatorially interpret Russell's bivariate series in a base partition and moves setting, and supply some missing cases, as well.
Arithmetic Properties of Colored Partitions Restricted by Parity of the Parts
Let $a_{r,s}(n)$ denote the number of mutlicolored partitions of $n$, wherein both even parts and odd parts may appear in one of $r$-colors and $s$-colors, respectively, for fixed $r,s\ge 1$. The paper aims to study arithmetic properties satisfied by $a_{r,s}(n)$, using elementary generating function manipulations and classical $q$-series techniques.
Rogers-Ramanujan type identities at $Λ_0$ from perfect crystals of exceptional quantum affine algebras
We derive Rogers--Ramanujan type partition identities at the fundamental weight $Λ_0$ for the exceptional affine types $G_2^{(1)}$, $D_4^{(3)}$, $F_4^{(1)}$, $E_6^{(2)}$, $E_6^{(1)}$, $E_7^{(1)}$ and $E_8^{(1)}$. Our starting point is the Dousse--Konan reformulation of the $(\mathrm{KMN})^2$ crystal character formula, applied to the level-one perfect crystal $B=B(θ)\sqcup B(0)$ of Benkart--Frenkel--Kang--Lee with ground element $φ\in B(0)$. This realizes the normalized character $e^{-Λ_0}\mathrm{ch} L(Λ_0)$ as generating functions of grounded $B$-colored partitions governed locally by the crystal energy. After principal specialization, we obtain a colored partition model subject to explicit difference, congruence, and initial conditions. On the product side, under the same specialization, the Weyl--Kac character formula yields an explicit Euler-type product, equivalently the generating function for partitions with parts in a concrete allowed set. Comparing the two specializations gives coefficientwise equalities of generating functions. A key computational feature is that the difference matrix can be produced from the crystal data without explicitly computing the energy function. For each type we tabulate the congruence data, forbidden initial parts, and the full difference matrix, and we provide reproducible coefficient checks.
$q$-Binomial expansions of the truncated MacMahon's $q$-series
In 1920, MacMahon introduced two families of $q$-series to study divisor sums. Recent work has shown that MacMahon's $q$-series are closely connected to overpartitions and $3$-colored partitions. Merca introduced truncated forms of MacMahon's $q$-series to generalize earlier results by Andrews-Rose and Ono-Singh, and posed two conjectures regarding the $q$-binomial expansions of these truncated series. In this paper, we provide combinatorial proofs of Merca's conjectures through the combinatorial interpretation of $q$-binomial coefficients.
Colored base-3 partitions, sequences of polynomials, and perfect numbers
Motivated by the observation that the counting function of a certain base-3 colored partition contains the even perfect numbers as a subsequence, we begin by defining a sequence of polynomials in four variables and discuss their properties and combinatorial interpretations. We then concentrate on certain subsequences that are related to the Chebyshev polynomials of both kinds. Finally, we consider several sequences of single-variable polynomials that have meaningful combinatorial interpretations as well as interesting zero distributions.
Cassini-Catalan Determinants via Ramanujan's Theta Identity
In this paper, we show that the classical Cassini and Catalan identities for Fibonacci numbers arise naturally from a single quadratic theta-function identity of Ramanujan. Expanding the identity $ψ(q)ψ(q^{3})=ψ(q^{4})\varphi(q^{6})+q\,\varphi(q^{2})ψ(q^{12})$ via the Jacobi triple product and equating coefficients yields the unified $q$-determinant $F_{n+r}(q)F_{n-r}(q)-F_{n}(q)^{2}=(-q)^{\,n-r}F_{r}(q)^{2}$, $n\ge r\ge 1$, where $ψ(q)$ and $\varphi(q)$ are Ramanujan's theta functions with $q$ a complex parameter in the unit disc $(\lvert q \rvert < 1)$ and $F_n(q)$ denotes the Carlitz $q$-Fibonacci polynomials. The radial limit $q\to1^{-}$ recovers Cassini's formula ($r=1$) and Catalan's one-parameter extension, while the same derivation with an auxiliary weight produces new partition-refined versions. The argument uses only standard $q$-series algebra (triple-product expansions, $q$-Pochhammer cancellations, and coefficient extraction), providing a transparent modular explanation of the alternating sign $(-1)^{\,n-r}$ in Catalan's identity through the level-6 provenance of $\varphi$ and $ψ$. Beyond unifying Cassini\textendash Catalan in a single framework, the method lifts seamlessly to higher-order recurrences, giving a template for Tribonacci-type determinants and suggesting congruence phenomena obtained from modular dissections and root-of-unity limits. The results place familiar Fibonacci determinants within Ramanujan's analytic landscape, indicate routes to combinatorial bijections that mirror the analytic cancellations, and connect with themes in modern $q$-series\textemdash ranging from colored partition identities to quantum-modular and exactly solvable models\textemdash thereby highlighting both the explanatory power and the ongoing relevance of Ramanujan's theta identities.
Arithmetic properties of $(\ell,m)$-regular colored partitions
Let $b^{k}_{\ell,m}(n)$ denotes the number of $k-$colored partitions of $n$ into parts that are not multiples of $\ell$ or $m$. We establish several congruence relations for $b_{\ell,m}(n)$. For instance, for any nonnegative integer $n$ $$b^{2}_{4,5}(8n+7) \equiv 0 \pmod{40}.$$
Euler-type recurrences for $t$-color and $t$-regular partition functions
We give Euler-like recursive formulas for the $t$-colored partition function when $t=2$ or $t=3,$ as well as for all $t$-regular partition functions. In particular, we derive an infinite family of ``triangular number" recurrences for the $3$-colored partition function. Our proofs are inspired by the recent work of Gomez, Ono, Saad, and Singh on the ordinary partition function and make extensive use of $q$-series identities for $(q;q)_{\infty}$ and $(q;q)_{\infty}^3.$
A proposed crank for $(k+j)$-colored partitions, with $j$ colors having distinct parts
In 1988, George Andrews and Frank Garvan discovered a crank for $p(n)$. In 2020, Larry Rolen, Zack Tripp, and Ian Wagner generalized the crank for p(n) in order to accommodate Ramanujan-like congruences for $k$-colored partitions. In this paper, we utilize the techniques used by Rolen, Tripp, and Wagner for crank generating functions in order to define a crank generating function for $(k + j)$-colored partitions where $j$ colors have distinct parts. We provide three infinite families of crank generating functions and conjecture a general crank generating function for such partitions.
Fixed hooks in arbitrary columns
In a paper by the author, Hemmer, Hopkins, and Keith the concept of a fixed point in a sequence was applied to the sequence of first column hook lengths of a partition. In this paper we generalize this notion to fixed hook lengths in an arbitrary column of a partition. We establish combinatorial connections between these fixed hooks and colored partitions that have interesting gap and mex-like conditions. Additionally, we obtain several generating functions for hook lengths of a given fixedness by hook length or part size in unrestricted partitions as well as some classical restrictions such as odd and distinct partitions.
An Overpartition Companion of Andrews and Keith's 2-colored $q$-series Identity
Andrews and Keith recently produced a general Schmidt type partition theorem using a novel interpretation of Stockhofe's bijection, which they used to find new $q$-series identities. This includes an identity for a trivariate 2-colored partition generating function. In this paper, their Schmidt type theorem is further generalized akin to how Franklin classically extended Glaisher's theorem. As a consequence, we obtain a companion to Andrews and Keith's 2-colored identity for overpartitions. These identities appear to be special cases of a much more general result.
Limiting behaviour and modular completions of MacMahon-like q-series
Recently, MacMahon's generalized sum-of-divisor functions were shown to link partitions, quasimodular forms, and q-multiple zeta values. In this paper, we explore many further properties and extensions of these. Firstly, we address a question of Ono by producing infinite families of MacMahon-like functions that approximate the colored partition functions (and indeed other eta quotients). We further explore the MacMahon-like functions and discover new and suggestive arithmetic structure and modular completions.
Remarks on MacMahon's $q$-series
In his important 1920 paper on partitions, MacMahon defined the partition generating functions \begin{align*} A_k(q)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\mathfrak{m}(k;n)q^n&:=\sum_{0< s_1<s_2<\cdots<s_k} \frac{q^{s_1+s_2+\cdots+s_k}}{(1-q^{s_1})^2(1-q^{s_2})^2\cdots(1-q^{s_k})^2},\\ C_k(q)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \mathfrak{m}_{odd}(k;n)q^n&:=\sum_{0< s_1<s_2<\cdots<s_k} \frac{q^{2s_1+2s_2+\cdots+2s_k-k}}{(1-q^{2s_1-1})^2(1-q^{2s_2-1})^2\cdots(1-q^{2s_k-1})^2}. \end{align*} These series give infinitely many formulas for two prominent generating functions. For each non-negative $k$, we prove that $A_k(q), A_{k+1}(q), A_{k+2}(q),\dots$ (resp. $C_k(q), C_{k+1}(q), C_{k+2}(q),\dots$) give the generating function for the 3-colored partition function $p_3(n)$ (resp. the overpartition function $\overline{p}(n)$).
A Decomposition of Cylindric Partitions and Cylindric Partitions into Distinct Parts
We show that cylindric partitions are in one-to-one correspondence with a pair which has an ordinary partition and a colored partition into distinct parts. Then, we show the general form of the generating function for cylindric partitions into distinct parts and give some examples. We prove part of a conjecture by Corteel, Dousse, and Uncu. The approaches and proofs are elementary and combinatorial.
Polynomization of the Bessenrodt-Ono type inequalities for A-partition functions
For an arbitrary set or multiset $A$ of positive integers, we associate the $A$-partition function $p_A(n)$ (that is the number of partitions of $n$ whose parts belong to $A$). We also consider the analogue of the $k$-colored partition function, namely, $p_{A,-k}(n)$. Further, we define a family of polynomials $f_{A,n}(x)$ which satisfy the equality $f_{A,n}(k)=p_{A,-k}(n)$ for all $n\in\mathbb{Z}_{\geq0}$ and $k\in\mathbb{N}$. This paper concerns the polynomization of the Bessenrodt--Ono type inequality for $f_{A,n}(x)$: \begin{align*}
f_{A,a}(x)f_{A,b}(x)>f_{A,a+b}(x), \end{align*} where $a$ and $b$ are arbitrary positive integers; and delivers some efficient criteria for its solutions. Moreover, we also investigate a few basic properties related to both functions $f_{A,n}(x)$ and $f_{A,n}'(x)$.
Some identities on Lin-Peng-Toh's partition statistic of $k$-colored partitions
Recently, Andrews proved two conjectures on a partition statistic introduced by Beck. Very recently, Chern established some results on weighted rank and crank moments and proved many Andrews-Beck type congruences. Motivated by Andrews and Chern's work, Lin, Peng and To introduced a partition statistic of $k$-colored partitions $NB_k(r,m,n)$ which counts the total number of parts of $π^{(1)}$ in each $k$-colored partition $π$ of $n$ with ${\rm crank}_k(π)$ congruent to $r$ modulo $m$ and proved a number of congruences for $NB_k(r,m,n)$. In this paper, we prove some identities on $NB_k(r,m,n)$ which are analogous to Ramanujan's ``most beautiful identity". Moreover, those identities imply some congruences proved by Lin, Peng and Toh.
Companions to the Andrews-Gordon and Andrews-Bressoud identities, and recent conjectures of Capparelli, Meurman, Primc, and Primc
We find bivariate generating functions for the $k=1$ cases of recently conjectured colored partition identities of Capparelli, Meurman, A. Primc, and M. Primc that are slight variants of the generating functions for the sum sides of the Andrews-Gordon and Andrews-Bressoud identities, relating them to recent work of Warnaar. This $k=1$ cases turn out to be equivalent to identities of Jing, Misra, and Savage. Finally, we provide bijections for these identities involving two-line cylindric partitions, in the spirit of Corteel.
Asymptotics for $k$-crank of $k$-colored partitions
In this paper, we obtain asymptotic formulas for $k$-crank of $k$-colored partitions. Let $M_k(a, c; n)$ denote the number of $k$-colored partitions of $n$ with a $k$-crank congruent to $a$ mod $c$. For the cases $k=2,3,4$, Fu and Tang derived several inequality relations for $M_k(a, c; n)$ using generating functions. We employ the Hardy-Ramanujan Circle Method to extend the results of Fu and Tang. Furthermore, additional inequality relations for $M_k(a, c; n)$ have been established, such as logarithmic concavity and logarithmic subadditivity.
