Inspired by Andrews' 2-colored generalized Frobenius partitions, we consider certain weighted 7-colored partition functions and establish some interesting Ramanujan-type identities and congruences. Moreover, we provide combinatorial interpretations of some congruences modulo 5 and 7. Finally, we study the properties of weighted 7-colored partitions weighted by the parity of certain partition statistics.

A generalized crank ($k$-crank) for $k$-colored partitions is introduced. Following the work of Andrews-Lewis and Ji-Zhao, we derive two results for this newly defined $k$-crank. Namely, we first obtain some inequalities between the $k$-crank counts $M_{k}(r,m,n)$ for $m=2,3$ and $4$, then we prove the positivity of symmetrized even $k$-crank moments weighted by the parity for $k=2$ and $3$. We conclude with several remarks on furthering the study initiated here.
On Chari-Loktev bases for local Weyl modules in type $A$

This paper is a study of the bases introduced by Chari-Loktev for local Weyl modules of the current algebra associated to a special linear Lie algebra. Partition overlaid patterns, POPs for short---whose introduction is one of the aims of this paper---form convenient parametrizing sets of these bases. They play a role analogous to that played by (Gelfand-Tsetlin) patterns in the representation theory of the special linear Lie algebra.
The notion of a POP leads naturally to the notion of area of a pattern. We observe that there is a unique pattern of maximal area among all those with a given bounding sequence and given weight. We give a combinatorial proof of this and discuss its representation theoretic relevance.
We then state a conjecture about the "stability", i.e., compatibility in the long range, of Chari-Loktev bases with respect to inclusions of local Weyl modules. In order to state the conjecture, we establish a certain bijection between colored partitions and POPs, which may be of interest in itself.

For any positive integers $a$ and $b$, we enumerate all colored partitions made by noncrossing diagonals of a convex polygon into polygons whose number of sides is congruent to $b$ modulo $a$. For the number of such partitions made by a fixed number of diagonals, we give both a recurrence relation and an explicit representation in terms of partial Bell polynomials. We use basic properties of these polynomials to efficiently incorporate restrictions on the type of polygons allowed in the partitions.

Generalizing Reiner's notion of set partitions of type $B_n$, we define colored $B_n$-partitions by coloring the elements in and not in the zero-block respectively. Considering the generating function of colored $B_n$-partitions, we get the exact formulas for the expectation and variance of the number of non-zero-blocks in a random colored $B_n$-partition. We find an asymptotic expression of the total number of colored $B_n$-partitions up to an error of $O(n^{-1/2}\log^{7/2}{n})$, and prove that the centralized and normalized number of non-zero-blocks is asymptotic normal over colored $B_n$-partitions.

We generalize overpartitions to (k,j)-colored partitions: k-colored partitions in which each part size may have at most j colors. We find numerous congruences and other symmetries. We use a wide array of tools to prove our theorems: generating function dissections, modular forms, bijections, and other combinatorial maps. We find connections to divisor sums, the Han/Nekrasov-Okounkov hook length formula and a possible approach to a finitization, and other topics, suggesting that a rich mine of results is available.

We introduce a generalization of the Stirling numbers via symmetric functions involving two weight functions. The resulting extension unifies previously known Stirling-type sequences with known symmetric function forms, as well as other sequences such as the $p,q$-binomial coefficients. Recurrence relations, generating functions, orthogonality relations, convolution formulas, and determinants of certain matrices involving the obtained sequences are derived. We also give combinatorial interpretations of certain cases in terms of colored partitions and permutations.
Avoiding colored partitions of two elements in the pattern sense
Enumeration of pattern-avoiding objects is an active area of study with connections to such disparate regions of mathematics as Schubert varieties and stack-sortable sequences. Recent research in this area has brought attention to colored permutations and colored set partitions. A colored partition of a set $S$ is a partition of $S$ with each element receiving a color from the set $[k]=\{1,2,...,k\}$. Let $Π_n\wr C_k$ be the set of partitions of $[n]$ with colors from $[k]$.
In an earlier work, the authors study pattern avoidance in colored set partitions in the equality sense. Here we study pattern avoidance in colored partitions in the pattern sense. We say that $σ\inΠ_n\wr C_k$ contains $π\in Π_m\wr C_\ell$ in the pattern sense if $σ$ contains a copy $π$ when the colors are ignored and the colors on this copy of $π$ are order isomorphic to the colors on $π$. Otherwise we say that $σ$ avoids $π$.
We focus on patterns from $Π_2\wr C_2$ and find that many familiar and some new integer sequences appear. We provide bijective proofs wherever possible, and we provide formulas for computing those sequences that are new.

In our previous paper, we determined a unified combinatorial framework to look at a large number of colored partition identities, and studied the five identities corresponding to the exceptional modular equations of prime degree of the Schroeter, Russell and Ramanujan type. The goal of this paper is to use the master bijection of our previous work to show combinatorially several new and highly nontrivial colored partition identities. We conclude by listing a number of further interesting identities of the same type as conjectures.

We provide a general and unified combinatorial framework for a number of colored partition identities, which include the five, recently proved analytically by B. Berndt, that correspond to the exceptional modular equations of prime degree due to H. Schroeter, R. Russell and S. Ramanujan. Our approach generalizes that of S. Kim, who has given a bijective proof for two of these five identities, namely the ones modulo 7 (also known as the Farkas-Kra identity) and modulo 3. As a consequence of our method, we determine bijective proofs also for the two highly nontrivial identities modulo 5 and 11, thus leaving open combinatorially only the one modulo 23.
Avoiding Colored Partitions of Lengths Two and Three
Pattern avoidance in the symmetric group $S_n$ has provided a number of useful connections between seemingly unrelated problems from stack-sorting to Schubert varieties. Recent work has generalized these results to $S_n\wr C_c$, the objects of which can be viewed as "colored permutations".
Another body of research that has grown from the study of pattern avoidance in permutations is pattern avoidance in $Π_n$, the set of set partitions of $[n]$. Pattern avoidance in set partitions is a generalization of the well-studied notion of noncrossing partitions.
Motivated by recent results in pattern avoidance in $S_n \wr C_c$ we provide a catalog of initial results for pattern avoidance in colored partitions, $Π_n \wr C_c$. We note that colored set partitions are not a completely new concept. \emph{Signed} (2-colored) set partitions appear in the work of Björner and Wachs involving the homology of partition lattices. However, we seek to study these objects in a new enumerative context.
Equality of Graver bases and universal Gröbner bases of colored partition identities

Associated to any vector configuration A is a toric ideal encoded by vectors in the kernel of A. Each toric ideal has two special generating sets: the universal Gröbner basis and the Graver basis. While the former is generally a proper subset of the latter, there are cases for which the two sets coincide. The most prominent examples among them are toric ideals of unimodular matrices. Equality of universal Gröbner basis and Graver basis is a combinatorial property of the toric ideal (or, of the defining matrix), providing interesting information about ideals of higher Lawrence liftings of a matrix. Nonetheless, a general classification of all matrices for which both sets agree is far from known. We contribute to this task by identifying all cases with equality within two families of matrices; namely, those defining rational normal scrolls and those encoding homogeneous primitive colored partition identities.

We give a bijection between certain colored partitions and the elements in the quotient of an affine Weyl group modulo its Weyl group. By Bott's formula these colored partitions give rise to some partition identities. In certain types, these identities have previously appeared in the work of Bousquet-Melou-Eriksson, Eriksson-Eriksson and Reiner. In other types the identities appear to be new. For type $A_{n}$, the affine colored partitions form another family of combinatorial objects in bijection with $n+1$-core partitions and $n$-bounded partitions. Our main application is to characterize the rationally smooth Schubert varieties in the affine Grassmannians in terms of affine partitions and a generalization of Young's lattice which refines weak order and is a subposet of Bruhat order. Several of the proofs are computer assisted.

A universal Gröbner basis of an ideal is the union of all its reduced Gröbner bases. It is contained in the Graver basis, the set of all primitive elements. Obtaining an explicit description of either of these sets, or even a sharp degree bound for their elements, is a nontrivial task.
In their '95 paper, Graham, Diaconis and Sturmfels give a nice combinatorial description of the Graver basis for any rational normal curve in terms of primitive partition identities. Their result is extended here to rational normal scrolls. The description of the Graver bases is given in terms of colored partition identities. This leads to a sharp bound on the degree of Graver basis elements, which is always attained by a circuit.
Finally, for any variety obtained from a scroll by a sequence of projections to some of the coordinate hyperplanes, the degree of any element in any reduced Gröbner basis is bounded by the degree of the variety.

We start with a bijective proof of Schur's theorem due to Alladi and Gordon and describe how a particular iteration of it leads to some very general theorems on colored partitions. These theorems imply a number of important results, including Schur's theorem, Bressoud's generalization of a theorem of Göllnitz, two of Andrews' generalizations of Schur's theorem, and the Andrews-Olsson identities.
