Combinatorial properties of Circulant Hadamard matrices
We describe combinatorial properties of the defining row of a circulant Hadamard matrix by exploiting its orthogonality to subsequent rows, and show how to exclude several particular forms of these matrices.

Ryser's Conjecture and Stochastic matrices
Assume that $H$ is a circulant Hadamard matrix of order $n\geq 4$. We consider an appropriate stochastic matrix $S$ of order $n$ depending on $H$. This allows us to prove that $n = 4$. Thus, there are only $10$ circulant Hadamard matrices.

A Note on Approximate Hadamard Matrices
A Hadamard matrix is a scaled orthogonal matrix with $\pm 1$ entries. Such matrices exist in certain dimensions: the Hadamard conjecture is that such a matrix always exists when $n$ is a multiple of 4. A conjecture attributed to Ryser is that no circulant Hadamard matrices exist when $n > 4$. Recently, Dong and Rudelson proved the existence of approximate Hadamard matrices in all dimensions: there exist universal $0< c < C < \infty$ so that for all $n \geq 1$, there is a matrix $A \in \left\{-1,1\right\}^{n \times n}$ satisfying, for all $x \in \mathbb{R}^n$, $$ c \sqrt{n} \|x\|_2 \leq \|Ax\|_2 \leq C \sqrt{n} \|x\|_2.$$ We observe that, as a consequence of the existence of flat Littlewood polynomials, circulant approximate Hadamard matrices exist for all $n \geq 1$.

A proof of Ryser's circulant Hadamard conjecture
We show that an $n\times n$ circulant Hadamard matrix must satisfy a family of congruence equations that have solutions only when $n \leq 4$, proving Ryser's 1963 conjecture that no such matrices exist for $n>4$.

Hadamard full propelinear codes with associated group $C_{2t}\times C_2$; rank and kernel
We introduce the Hadamard full propelinear codes that factorize as direct product of groups such that their associated group is $C_{2t}\times C_2$. We study the rank, the dimension of the kernel, and the structure of these codes. For several specific parameters we establish some links from circulant Hadamard matrices and the nonexistence of the codes we study. We prove that the dimension of the kernel of these codes is bounded by 3 if the code is nonlinear. We also get an equivalence between circulant complex Hadamard matrix and a type of Hadamard full propelinear code, and we find a new example of circulant complex Hadamard matrix of order 16.

Schur Ring, Run Structure and Periodic Compatible Binary Sequences
In this paper three Schur ring are discussed, namenly: Hamming, circulant orbists and decimated circulant orbits Schur ring. By using autocorrelation function and the run structure of binary sequences we proof the relation between this Schur ring and combinatorial structures such as Hadamard matrices, periodic compatible binary sequences and perfect binary sequences. Cai proved for binary sequences that the autocorrelation function is in fact completely determined by its run structure. Also, he characterised the structure of the circulant Hadamard matrices. We characterise a more general structure, called periodic compatible binary sequences ($PComS$ for brevety), which generalises Hadamard matrices, periodic complementary binary sequences and binary sequences with $2$-level autocorrelation. Families of periodic compatibles binary sequences are presented. Also, we compute a bounds on familias $PComS$ in Hamming Schur ring. The results obtained are applied to families of $PComS$ such as circulant, with one and two circulant cores, Goethals-Seidel type and partial Hadamard matrices and perfect binary sequences.

An Approximation to Proof of the Circulant Hadamard Conjecture
Turyn prove that if a circulant Hadamard matrix of order $n$ exists then $n$ must be of the form $n=4m^{2}$ for some odd integer $m$. In this paper we use the structure constant of Schur ring of $\Z_{2}^{4m^{2}}$ to prove that there is no circulant Hadamard matrix in $\Z_{2}^{4m^{2}}$ except possibly for sequences with Hamming weight $a+b$, with $\frac{m^{2}-m}{2}\leq a\leq\frac{3m^{2}-m}{2}$ and $b=2m^{2}-m-a$ and with $\frac{m^{2}+m}{2}\leq 2m^{2}-a\leq\frac{3m^{2}+m}{2}$ and $b=m+a$.

Schur Ring over Group $\Z_{2}^{n}$, Circulant $S-$Sets Invariant by Decimation and Hadamard Matrices
In this paper a variety of issues are discussed, Schur ring, $S$-sets, circulant orbits, decimation operator and Hadamard matrices and their relation between them is shown. Firstly we define the complete $S$-sets. Next, we study the structure of Schur ring with circulant basic sets over $\Z_{2}^{n}$ and we define the free and non-free circulant $S$-sets, the symmetric, non-symmetric and antisymmetric circulant $S$-sets. We prove that all this $S$-sets are invariants under decimation. Finally, we prove that if a Hadamard matrix exist then this is contained in a complete $S$-set. Also, we prove that can't exist circulant and with one core Hadamard matrices with some particular structure. These theorems include a result known on symmetric circulant Hadamard matrices of order $4n$ only when $n$ is an odd number.

Circulant Hadamard matrices as HFP-codes of type $C_{4n}\times C_2$
We prove that a circulant Hadamard code of length $4n$ can always be seen as an HFP-code (Hadamard full propelinear code) of type $C_{4n}\times C_2$, where $C_2=\langle u\rangle$ or the same, as a cocyclic Hadamard code. We compute the rank and dimension of the kernel of these kind of codes.

Circulant q-Butson Hadamard matrices
If $q = p^n$ is a prime power, then a $d$-dimensional \emph{$q$-Butson Hadamard matrix} $H$ is a $d\times d$ matrix with all entries $q$th roots of unity such that $HH^* = dI_d$. We use algebraic number theory to prove a strong constraint on the dimension of a circulant $q$-Butson Hadamard matrix when $d = p^m$ and then explicitly construct a family of examples in all possible dimensions. These results relate to the long-standing circulant Hadamard matrix conjecture in combinatorics.

A generalization of circulant Hadamard and conference matrices
Published in Linear Algebra Appl. 569 (2019) 241-265 • View PublicationBIB
We study the existence and construction of circulant matrices $C$ of order $n\geq2$ with diagonal entries $d\geq0$, off-diagonal entries $\pm1$ and mutually orthogonal rows. These matrices generalize circulant conference ($d=0$) and circulant Hadamard ($d=1$) matrices. We demonstrate that matrices $C$ exist for every order $n$ and for $d$ chosen such that $n=2d+2$, and we find all solutions $C$ with this property. Furthermore, we prove that if $C$ is symmetric, or $n-1$ is prime, or $d$ is not an odd integer, then necessarily $n=2d+2$. Finally, we conjecture that the relation $n=2d+2$ holds for every matrix $C$, which generalizes the circulant Hadamard conjecture. We support the proposed conjecture by computing all the existing solutions up to $n=50$.

A Walsh-Fourier approach to the circulant Hadamard conjecture
Published • View PublicationBIB
We describe an approach to the circulant Hadamard conjecture based on Walsh-Fourier analysis. We show that the existence of a circulant Hadamard matrix of order $n$ is equivalent to the existence of a non-trivial solution of a certain homogenous linear system of equations. Based on this system, a possible way of proving the conjecture is proposed.

The Gale-Berlekamp game for complex Hadamard matrices
Associated to a complex Hadamard matrix $H\in M_N(\mathbb C)$ is the complex probability measure $μ\in\mathcal P(\mathbb C)$ describing the distribution of $\varphi(a,b)=<a,Hb>$, where $a,b\in\mathbb T^N$ are random. This measure is called "glow" of the matrix, due to the analogy with the Gale-Berlekamp switching game, where $H,a,b$ are real. We prove here that: (1) $μ$ becomes complex Gaussian in the $N\to\infty$ limit, (2) the universality holds as well at order 2, (3) the order 3 term seems to be quite interesting, particularly for the master Hadamard matrices, (4) in the Fourier matrix case, some of the higher order terms control counting problems for circulant Hadamard matrices.

Wieferich pairs and Barker sequences, II
Published in LMS J. Comput. Math. 17 (2014) 24-32 • View PublicationBIB
We show that if a Barker sequence of length $n>13$ exists, then either $n=3979201339721749133016171583224100$, or $n > 4\cdot10^{33}$. This improves the lower bound on the length of a long Barker sequence by a factor of nearly 2000. We also obtain 18 additional integers $n<10^{50}$ that cannot be ruled out as the length of a Barker sequence, and find more than 237000 additional candidates $n<10^{100}$. These results are obtained by completing extensive searches for Wieferich prime pairs and using them, together with a number of arithmetic restrictions on $n$, to construct qualifying integers below a given bound. We also report on some updated computations regarding open cases of the circulant Hadamard matrix problem.

The revised version of the claim by Hurley, Hurley and Hurley to have proved the circulant Hadamard matrix conjecture is mistaken.
