We classify all complete uniform multipartite hypergraphs with respect to some algebraic properties, such as being (almost) complete intersection, Gorenstein, level, $l$-Cohen-Macaulay, $l$-Buchsbaum, unmixed, and satisfying Serre's condition $S_r$, via some combinatorial terms. Also, we prove that for a complete $s$-uniform $t$-partite hypergraph $H$, vertex decomposability, shellability, sequentially $S_r$ and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay properties coincide with the condition that $H$ has $t-1$ sides consisting of a single vertex. Moreover, we show that the latter condition occurs if and only if it is a chordal hypergraph.

We find a class of block graphs whose binomial edge ideals have minimal regularity. As a consequence, we characterize the trees whose binomial edge ideals have minimal regularity. Also, we show that the binomial edge ideal of a block graph has the same depth as its initial ideal.

We characterize all graphs whose binomial edge ideals have pure resolutions. Moreover, we introduce a new switching of graphs which does not change some algebraic invariants of graphs, and using this, we study the linear strand of the binomial edge ideals for some classes of graphs. Also, we pose a conjecture on the linear strand of such ideals for every graph.

Let $I$ be the edge ideal of a clutter $\mathcal{C}$ in a polynomial ring $S$. In this paper, we present estimations of the Stanley depth of $I$ as well as the Stanley regularity of $S/I$, in terms of combinatorial data from the clutter $\mathcal{C}$.
The regularity of binomial edge ideals of graphs
We prove two recent conjectures on some upper bounds for the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the binomial edge ideals of some different classes of graphs. We prove the conjecture of Matsuda and Murai for graphs which has a cut edge or a simplicial vertex, and hence for chordal graphs. We determine the regularity of the binomial edge ideal of the join of graphs in terms of the regularity of the original graphs, and consequently prove the conjecture of Matsuda and Murai for such a graph, and hence for complete $t$-partite graphs. We also generalize some results of Schenzel and Zafar about complete $t$-partite graphs. We also prove the conjecture due to the authors for a class of chordal graphs.
Extremal Betti numbers of some classes of binomial edge ideals
Let $G$ be a cycle or a complete bipartite graph. We show that the binomial edge ideal $J_{G}$ and its initial ideal with respect to the lexicographic order have the same extremal Betti number.

Let $G$ be a finite simple graph on $[n]$ and $I(G) \subset S$ the edge ideal of $G$, where $S = K[x_{1}, \ldots, x_{n}]$ is the polynomial ring over a field $K$. Let $m(G)$ denote the maximum size of matchings of $G$ and $im(G)$ that of induced matchings of $G$. It is known that $im(G) \leq \text{reg}(S/I(G)) \leq m(G)$, where $\text{reg}(S/I(G))$ is the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of $S/I(G)$. Cameron and Walker succeeded in classifying the finite connected simple graphs $G$ with $im(G) = m(G)$. We say that a finite connected simple graph $G$ is a Cameron-Walker graph if $im(G) = m(G)$ and if $G$ is neither a star nor a star triangle. In the present paper, we study Cameron-Walker graphs from a viewpoint of commutative algebra. First, we prove that a Cameron-Walker graph $G$ is unmixed if and only if $G$ is Cohen-Macaulay and classify all Cohen-Macaulay Cameron-Walker graphs. Second, we prove that there is no Gorenstein Cameron-Walker graph. Finally, we prove that every Cameron--Walker graph is sequentially Cohen-Macaulay.

We consider the edge ideals of large classes of graphs with whiskers and for these ideals we prove that the arithmetical rank is equal to the big height. Then we extend these results to other classes of squarefree monomial ideals, generated in any degree, proving that the same equality holds.
On Closed Graphs I
A graph is closed when its vertices have a labeling by [n] with a certain property first discovered in the study of binomial edge ideals. In this article, we prove that a connected graph has a closed labeling if and only if it is chordal, claw-free, and has a property we call narrow, which holds when every vertex is distance at most one from all longest shortest paths of the graph.

Given a finite simple graph one can associate the edge ideal. In this paper we prove that a graded Betti number of the edge ideal does not vanish if the original graph contains a set of complete bipartite subgraphs with some conditions. Also we give a combinatorial description for the projective dimension of the edge ideals of unmixed bipartite graphs.
Generalized splines on arbitrary graphs

Let G be a graph whose edges are labeled by ideals of a commutative ring. We introduce a generalized spline, which is a vertex-labeling of G by elements of the ring so that the difference between the labels of any two adjacent vertices lies in the corresponding edge ideal. Generalized splines arise naturally in combinatorics (em algebraic splines of Billera and others) and in algebraic topology (certain equivariant cohomology rings, described by Goresky-Kottwitz-MacPherson and others). The central question of this manuscript asks when an arbitrary edge-labeled graph has nontrivial generalized splines. The answer is `always', and we prove the stronger result that generalized splines contain a free submodule whose rank is the number of vertices in G. We describe all generalized splines when G is a tree, and give several ways to describe the ring of generalized splines as an intersection of generalized splines for simpler subgraphs of G. We also present a new tool which we call the GKM matrix, an analogue of the incidence matrix of a graph, and end with open questions.

In this paper, we explain the regularity, projective dimension and depth of edge ideal of some classes of graphs in terms of invariants of graphs. We show that for a $C_5$-free vertex decomposable graph $G$, $\T{reg}(R/I(G))= c_G$, where $c_G$ is the maximum number of 3-disjoint edges in $G$. Moreover for this class of graphs we characterize $\T{pd}(R/I(G))$ and $\T{depth}(R/I(G))$. As a corollary we describe these invariants in forests and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay bipartite graphs.

Let $I(G)$ be the edge ideal of a simple graph $G$. In this paper, we will give sufficient and necessary combinatorial conditions of $G$ in which the second symbolic and ordinary power of its edge ideal are Cohen-Macaulay (resp. Buchsbaum, generalized Cohen-Macaulay).
As an application of our results, we will classify all bipartite graphs in which the second (symbolic) powers are Cohen-Macaulay (resp. Buchsbaum, generalized Cohen-Macaulay).
Results on the regularity of square-free monomial ideals

In a 2008 paper, the first author and Van Tuyl proved that the regularity of the edge ideal of a graph G is at most one greater than the matching number of G. In this note, we provide a generalization of this result to any square-free monomial ideal. We define a 2-collage in a simple hypergraph to be a collection of edges with the property that for any edge E of the hypergraph, there exists an edge F in the collage such that |E \ F| < 2. The Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of the edge ideal of a simple hypergraph is bounded above by a multiple of the minimum size of a 2-collage. We also give a recursive formula to compute the regularity of a vertex-decomposable hypergraph. Finally, we show that regularity in the graph case is bounded by a certain statistic based on maximal packings of nondegenerate star subgraphs.
Cellular resolutions of powers of monomial ideals
There are many connections between the invariants of the different powers of an ideal. We investigate how to construct minimal resolutions for all powers at once using methods from algebraic and polyhedral topology with a focus on ideals arising from combinatorics. In one construction, we obtain cellular resolutions for all powers of edge ideals of bipartite graphs on n vertices, supported by (n-2)-dimensional complexes. Our main result is an explicit minimal cellular resolution for all powers of edge ideals of paths. These cell complexes are constructed by first subdividing polyhedral complexes and then modifying them using discrete Morse theory.

Let G be the circulant graph C_n(S) with S a subset of {1,2,...,\lfloor n/2 \rfloor}, and let I(G) denote its the edge ideal in the ring R = k[x_1,...,x_n]. We consider the problem of determining when G is Cohen-Macaulay, i.e, R/I(G) is a Cohen-Macaulay ring. Because a Cohen-Macaulay graph G must be well-covered, we focus on known families of well-covered circulant graphs of the form C_n(1,2,...,d). We also characterize which cubic circulant graphs are Cohen-Macaulay. We end with the observation that even though the well-covered property is preserved under lexicographical products of graphs, this is not true of the Cohen-Macaulay property.

Cohen-Macaulay binomial edge ideals of small deviation
We classify all binomial edge ideals that are complete intersection and Cohen-Macaulay almost complete intersection. We also describe an algorithm and provide an implementation to compute primary decomposition of binomial edge ideals.

Herzog-Hibi-Hreindóttir-Kahle-Rauh introduced the class of closed graph and they proved that the binomial edge ideal $J(G)$ of a graph $G$ has quadratic Gröbner bases if $G$ is closed. In this paper, we introduce the class of weakly closed graph as a generalization of the closed graph and prove that the quotient ring $S/J(G)$ is $F$-pure if $G$ is weakly closed. This fact is a generalization of Ohtani's theorem.

In attempting to understand how combinatorial modifications alter algebraic properties of monomial ideals, several authors have investigated the process of adding "whiskers" to graphs. In this paper, we study a similar construction to build a simplicial complex $Δ_χ$ from a coloring $χ$ of a subset of the vertices of $Δ$, and give necessary and sufficient conditions for this construction to produce vertex decomposable simplicial complexes. We apply this work to strengthen and give new proofs about sequentially Cohen-Macaulay edge ideals of graphs.
