Topological Resonances on Quantum Graphs
In this paper, we try to put the results of Smilansky and al. on "Topological resonances" on a mathematical basis.A key role in the asymptotic of resonances near the real axis for Quantum Graphs is played by the set of metrics for which there exists compactly supported eigenfunctions. We give several estimateof the dimension of this semi-algebraic set, in particular in terms of the girth of the graph. The case oftrees is also discussed.

In this note we present some abstract ideas how one can construct spaces from building blocks according to a graph. The coupling is expressed via boundary pairs, and can be applied to very different spaces such as discrete graphs, quantum graphs or graph-like manifolds. We show a spectral analysis of graph-like spaces, and consider as a special case vector-valued quantum graphs. Moreover, we provide a prototype of a convergence theorem for shrinking graph-like spaces with Dirichlet boundary conditions. (Dedicated to Pavel Exner's 70th birthday)
Changing gears: Isospectrality via eigenderivative transplantation
We introduce a new method for constructing isospectral quantum graphs that is based on transplanting derivatives of eigenfunctions. We also present simple digraphs with the same reversing zeta function, which generalizes the Bartholdi zeta function to digraphs.

We introduce quantum hypergraphs, in analogy with the theory of quantum graphs developed over the last 15 years by many authors. We emphasize some problems that arise when one tries to define a Laplacian on a hypergraph.
Semi-classical measures on Quantum Graphs and the Gauss map of the determinant manifold
In this paper, I describe the weak limits of the measures associated to the eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a Quantum graph for a generic metric in terms of the Gauss map of the determinant manifold. I describe also all the limits with minimal support (the "scars").

Studying inequalities between subgraph- or homomorphism-densities is an important topic in graph theory. Sums of squares techniques have proven useful in dealing with such questions. Using an approach from real algebraic geometry, we strengthen a Positivstellensatz for simple quantum graphs by Lovász and Szegedy, and we prove several new Positivstellensätze for nonnegativity of quantum multigraphs. We provide new examples and counterexamples.
Quantum graph walks II: Quantum walks on graph coverings
We give a new determinant expression for the characteristic polynomial of the bond scattering matrix of a quantum graph G. Also, we give a decomposition formula for the characteristic polynomial of the bond scattering matrix of a regular covering of G. Furthermore, we define an L-function of G, and give a determinant expression of it. As a corollary, we express the characteristic polynomial of the bond scattering matrix of a regular covering of G by means of its L-functions. As an application, we introduce three types of quantum graph walks, and treat their relation.
Undecidability of linear inequalities in graph homomorphism densities

The purpose of this article is to show that even the most elementary problems in asymptotic extremal graph theory can be highly non-trivial. We study linear inequalities between graph homomorphism densities. In the language of quantum graphs the validity of such an inequality is equivalent to the positivity of a corresponding quantum graph. Similar to the setting of polynomials, a quantum graph that can be represented as a sum of squares of labeled quantum graphs is necessarily positive. Lovász asks whether the opposite is also true. We answer this question and also a related question of Razborov in the negative by introducing explicit valid inequalities that do not satisfy the required conditions. Our solution to these problems is based on a reduction from real multivariate polynomials and uses the fact that there are positive polynomials that cannot be expressed as sums of squares of polynomials.
It is known that the problem of determining whether a multivariate polynomial is positive is decidable. Hence it is very natural to ask "Is the problem of determining the validity of a linear inequality between homomorphism densities decidable?" We give a negative answer to this question which shows that such inequalities are inherently difficult in their full generality. Furthermore we deduce from this fact that the analogue of Artin's solution to Hilbert's seventeenth problem does not hold in the setting of quantum graphs.

A celebrated theorem due to R. Frucht states that, roughly speaking, each group is isomorphic to the symmetry group of some graph. By "symmetry group" the group of all graph automorphisms is meant. We provide an analogue of this result for quantum graphs, i.e., for Schrödinger equations on a metric graph, after suitably defining the notion of symmetry.

The aim of the present paper is to introduce the notion of first order (supersymmetric) Dirac operators on discrete and metric (``quantum'') graphs. In order to cover all self-adjoint boundary conditions for the associated metric graph Laplacian, we develop systematically a new type of discrete graph operators acting on a decorated graph. The decoration at each vertex of degree-d is given by a subspace of $\C^d$, generalising the fact that a function on the standard vertex space has only a scalar value.
We develop the notion of exterior derivative, differential forms, Dirac and Laplace operators in the discrete and metric case, using a supersymmetric framework. We calculate the (supersymmetric) index of the discrete Dirac operator generalising the standard index formula involving the Euler characteristic of a graph. Finally, we show that the corresponding index for the metric Dirac operator agrees with the discrete one.

We present a few combinatorial identities which were encountered in our work on the spectral theory of quantum graphs. They establish a new connection between the theory of random matrix ensembles and combinatorics.

We consider the Schroedinger operator on graphs and study the spectral statistics of a unitary operator which represents the quantum evolution, or a quantum map on the graph. This operator is the quantum analogue of the classical evolution operator of the corresponding classical dynamics on the same graph. We derive a trace formula, which expresses the spectral density of the quantum operator in terms of periodic orbits on the graph, and show that one can reduce the computation of the two-point spectral correlation function to a well defined combinatorial problem. We illustrate this approach by considering an ensemble of simple graphs. We prove by a direct computation that the two-point correlation function coincides with the CUE expression for 2x2 matrices. We derive the same result using the periodic orbit approach in its combinatorial guise. This involves the use of advanced combinatorial techniques which we explain.
