Subexpressions and the Bruhat order for double cosets
The Bruhat order on a Coxeter group is often described by examining subexpressions of a reduced expression. We prove that an analogous description applies to the Bruhat order on double cosets. This establishes the compatibility of the Bruhat order on double cosets with concatenation, leading to compatibility between the monoidal structure and the ideal of lower terms in the singular Hecke 2-category. We also prove other fundamental properties of this ideal of lower terms.

Consider a random $n\times m$ matrix $A$ over the finite field of order $q$ where every column has precisely $k$ nonzero elements, and let $M[A]$ be the matroid represented by $A$. In the case that q=2, Cooper, Frieze and Pegden (RS\&A 2019) proved that given a fixed binary matroid $N$, if $k\ge k_N$ and $m/n\ge d_N$ where $k_N$ and $d_N$ are sufficiently large constants depending on N, then a.a.s. $M[A]$ contains $N$ as a minor. We improve their result by determining the sharp threshold (of $m/n$) for the appearance of a fixed matroid $N$ as a minor of $M[A]$, for every $k\ge 3$, and every finite field.

We prove the conjecture of Grosse-Kunstleve et al. that coordination sequences of periodic structures in n-dimensional Euclidean space are rational. This has been recently proven by Nakamura et al.; however, our proof is a straightforward application of classic techniques from automata theory.
Simplices with fixed volumes of codimension 2 faces in a continuous deformation
For any $n$-dimensional simplex in the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^n$ with $n\ge 4$, it is asked that if a continuous deformation preserves the volumes of all the codimension 2 faces, then is it necessarily a \emph{rigid} motion. While the question remains open and the general belief is that the answer is affirmative, for all $n\ge 4$, we provide counterexamples to a variant of the question where $\mathbb{R}^n$ is replaced by a pseudo-Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{p,n-p}$ for some unspecified $p\ge 2$.
Tautological Intersection Numbers and Order-Consecutive Partition Sequences
By recent work of Afandi, it is known that tautological intersection numbers on the moduli space of stable $n$-pointed genus $g$ curves can be arranged into families of Ehrhart polynomials, $\{L_{\vec{d}}\}$, for partial polytopal complexes. In particular, the $f^*$-vector of $L_{\vec{d}}$ is known to be integral and non-negative. In this paper, we show that both the $f^*$-vector and $h^*$-vector have an enumerative interpretation in the special case that $\vec{d} = (1, 1, \dots, 1)$. The $f^*$-vector counts order-consecutive partition sequences of $[n+1]$ and the $h^*$-vector is a binomial coefficient. Furthermore, we conjecture that, for all $\vec{d}$, the $f^*$-vector of $L_{\vec{d}}$ always forms a log-concave sequence, and we verify this conjecture in the case that $\vec{d} = (1, 1, \dots, 1)$.
Limiting Moments of Autocorrelation Demerit Factors of Binary Sequences
Various problems in engineering and natural science demand binary sequences that do not resemble translates of themselves, that is, the sequences must have small aperiodic autocorrelation at every nonzero shift. If $f$ is a sequence, then the demerit factor of $f$ is the sum of the squared magnitudes of the autocorrelations at all nonzero shifts for the sequence obtained by normalizing $f$ to unit Euclidean norm. The demerit factor is the reciprocal of Golay's merit factor, and low demerit factor indicates low self-similarity of a sequence under translation. We endow the $2^\ell$ binary sequences of length $\ell$ with uniform probability measure and consider the distribution of their demerit factors. Earlier works used combinatorial techniques to find exact formulas for the mean, variance, skewness, and kurtosis of the distribution as a function of $\ell$. These revealed that for $\ell \geq 4$, the $p$th central moment of this distribution is strictly positive for every $p \geq 2$. This article shows that for every $p$, the $p$th central moment is $\ell^{-2 p}$ times a quasi-polynomial function of $\ell$ with rational coefficients. It also shows that, in the limit as $\ell$ tends to infinity, the $p$th standardized moment is the same as that of the standard normal distribution.

The classical Capelli identity is an important determinantal identity of a matrix with noncommutative entries that determines the center of the enveloping algebra of the general linear Lie algebra, and was used by Weyl as a main tool to study irreducible representations in his famous book on classical groups.
In 1996 Okounkov found higher Capelli identities involving immanants of the generating matrix of $U(gl(n))$ which correspond to arbitrary orthogonal idempotent of the symmetric group. It turns out that Williamson also discovered a general Capelli identity of immanants for $U(gl(n))$ in 1981. In this paper, we use a new method to derive a family of even more general Capelli identities that include the aforementioned Capelli identities as special cases as well as many other Capelli-type identities as corollaries. In particular, we obtain generalized Turnbull's identities for both symmetric and antisymmetric matrices, as well as the generalized Howe-Umeda-Kostant-Sahi identities for antisymmetric matrices which confirm the conjecture of Caracciolo, Sokal, and Sportiello.
Gibbs Measures with Multilinear Forms
In this paper, we study a class of multilinear Gibbs measures with Hamiltonian given by a generalized $\mathrm{U}$-statistic and with a general base measure. Expressing the asymptotic free energy as an optimization problem over a space of functions, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for replica-symmetry. Utilizing this, we obtain weak limits for a large class of statistics of interest, which includes the ''local fields/magnetization'', the Hamiltonian, the global magnetization, etc. An interesting consequence is a universal weak law for contrasts under replica symmetry, namely, $n^{-1}\sum_{i=1}^n c_i X_i\to 0$ weakly, if $\sum_{i=1}^n c_i=o(n)$. Our results yield a probabilistic interpretation for the optimizers arising out of the limiting free energy. We also prove the existence of a sharp phase transition point in terms of the temperature parameter, thereby generalizing existing results that were only known for quadratic Hamiltonians. As a by-product of our proof technique, we obtain exponential concentration bounds on local and global magnetizations, which are of independent interest.

Mayhew and Royle (2008) showed that there are 564 excluded minors for the class of GF(5)-representable matroids having at most 9 elements. We enumerate the excluded minors for GF(5)-representable matroids having 10 elements: there are precisely 2128 such excluded minors. In the process we find, for each $i \in \{2,3,4\}$, the excluded minors for the class of $\mathbb{H}_i$-representable matroids having at most 10 elements, and the excluded minors for the class of $\mathbb{H}_5$-representable matroids having at most 13 elements.

Let $F$ be a graph and $\SPEX (n, F)$ be the class of $n$-vertex graphs which attain the maximum spectral radius and contain no $F$ as a subgraph. Let $\EX (n, F)$ be the family of $n$-vertex graphs which contain maximum number of edges and no $F$ as a subgraph. It is a fundamental problem in spectral extremal graph theory to characterize all graphs $F$ such that $\SPEX (n, F)\subseteq \EX (n, F)$ when $n$ is sufficiently large. Establishing the conjecture of Cioabă, Desai and Tait [European J. Combin., 2022], Wang, Kang, and Xue [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B, 2023] prove that: for any graph $F$ such that the graphs in $\EX (n, F)$ are Turán graphs plus $O(1)$ edges, $\SPEX (n, F)\subseteq \EX (n, F)$ for sufficiently large $n$. In this paper, we prove that $\SPEX (n, F)\subseteq \EX (n, F)$ for sufficiently large $n$, where $F$ is an $n$-vertex graph with no isolated vertices and $Δ(F) \leq \sqrt{n}/40$. We also prove a signless Laplacian spectral radius version of the above theorem. These results give new contribution to the open problem mentioned above, and can be seen as spectral analogs of a theorem of Alon and Yuster [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B, 2013]. Furthermore, as immediate corollaries, we have tight spectral conditions for the existence of several classes of special graphs, including clique-factors, $k$-th power of Hamilton cycles and $k$-factors in graphs. The first special class of graphs gives a positive answer to a problem of Feng, and the second one extends a previous result of Yan et al.
Variations on the Bollobás set-pair theorem
Let $X$ be an $n$-element set. A set-pair system $\mbox{$\cal P$}=\{(A_i,B_i)\}_{1\leq i\leq m}$ is a collection of pairs of disjoint subsets of $X$. It is called skew Bollobás system if $A_i\cap B_j\neq \emptyset$ for all $1\leq i<j \leq m$. The best possible inequality $$ \sum_{i=1}^m \frac{1}{|A_i|+|B_i| \choose |A_i|}\leq n+1. $$ is established along with some more results of similar flavor.
Some applications of the Lagrange inversion formula for the $k$-Fibonacci numbers
The aim of this paper consists of providing summation formulas for the $k$-Fibonacci numbers ($k \in \mathbb{Z}$, $k \geq 2$) and their asymptotic equivalents in terms of generalized binomial coefficients. Our main tools are the Lagrange inversion formula and one of its consequences due to Hermite.
Construction of graphs being determined by their generalized Q-spectra
Given a graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, its adjacency matrix and degree diagonal matrix are represented by $A(G)$ and $D(G)$, respectively. The $Q$-spectrum of $G$ consists of all the eigenvalues of its signless Laplacian matrix $Q(G)=A(G)+D(G)$ (including the multiplicities). A graph $G$ is known as being determined by its generalized $Q$-spectrum ($DGQS$ for short) if, for any graph $H$, $H$ and $G$ have the same $Q$-spectrum and so do their complements, then $H$ is isomorphic to $G$. In this paper, we present a method to construct $DGQS$ graphs. More specifically, let the matrix $W_{Q}(G)=\left [e,Qe,\dots ,Q^{n-1}e \right ]$ ($e$ denotes the all-one column vector ) be the $Q$-walk matrix of $G$. It is shown that $G\circ P_{k}$ ($k=2,3$) is $DGQS$ if and only if $G$ is $DGQS$ for some specific graphs. This also provides a way to construct $DGQS$ graphs with more vertices by using $DGQS$ graphs with fewer vertices. At the same time, we also prove that $G\circ P_{2}$ is still $DGQS$ under specific circumstances. In particular, on the basis of the above results, we obtain an infinite sequences of $DGQS$ graphs $G\circ P_{k}^{t}$ ($k=2,3;t\ge 1$) for some specific $DGQS$ graph $G$.
The last patch for classifying shuffle groups
Divide a deck of $kn$ cards into $k$ equal piles and place them from left to right. The standard shuffle $σ$ is performed by picking up the top cards one by one from left to right and repeating until all cards have been picked up. For every permutation $τ$ of the $k$ piles, use $ρ_τ$ to denote the induced permutation on the $kn$ cards. The shuffle group $G_{k,kn}$ is generated by $σ$ and the $k!$ permutations $ρ_τ$. It was conjectured by Cohen et al in 2005 that the shuffle group $G_{k,kn}$ contains $A_{kn}$ if $k\geq3$, $(k,n)\ne\{4,2^f\}$ for any positive integer $f$ and $n$ is not a power of $k$. Very recently, Xia, Zhang and Zhu reduced the proof of the conjecture to that of the $2$-transitivity of the shuffle group and then proved the conjecture under the condition that $k\ge4$ or $k\nmid n$. In this paper, we proved that the group $G_{3,3n}$ is $2$-transitive for any positive integer $n$ which is a multiple of $3$ but not a power of $3$. This result leads to the complete classification of the shuffle groups $G_{k,kn}$ for all $k\ge2$ and $n\ge1$.

For any Coxeter system, and any double coset for two standard parabolic subgroups, we introduce a Demazure operator. These operators form a basis for morphism spaces in a category we call the nilCoxeter category, and we also present this category by generators and relations. We prove a generalization to this context of Demazure's celebrated theorem on Frobenius extensions. This generalized theorem serves as a criterion for ensuring the proper behavior of singular Soergel bimodules.
Sharp hypercontractivity for symmetric groups and its applications
A recently fertile strand of research in Group Theory is developing non-abelian analogues of classical combinatorial results for arithmetic Cayley graphs, describing properties such as growth, expansion, mixing, diameter, etc. We consider these problems for the symmetric and alternating groups. The case of normal Cayley graphs (those generated by unions of conjugacy classes) has seen significant progress via character theory (whereby Larsen and Shalev resolved several open problems), but the general case still remains poorly understood. In this paper we generalise the background assumption from being normal to being global (a pseudorandomness condition), replacing character bounds by spectral estimates for convolution operators of global functions, thus obtaining qualitative generalisations of several results on normal Cayley graphs. Furthermore, our theory in the pseudorandom setting can be applied (via density increment arguments) to several results for general sets that are not too sparse, including analogues of Polynomial Freiman-Ruzsa, Bogolyubov's lemma, Roth's theorem, the Waring problem and essentially sharp estimates for the diameter problem of Cayley graphs whose density is at least exponential in -n. Our main tool is a sharp new hypercontractive inequality for global functions on the symmetric group.
Induced subgraph density. V. All paths approach Erdos-Hajnal
The Erdős-Hajnal conjecture says that, for every graph $H$, there exists $c>0$ such that every $H$-free graph on $n$ vertices has a clique or stable set of size at least $n^c$. In this paper we are concerned with the case when $H$ is a path. The conjecture has been proved for paths with at most five vertices, but not for longer paths. We prove that the conjecture is ``nearly'' true for all paths: for every path $H$, all $H$-free graphs with $n$ vertices have cliques or stable sets of size at least $2^{(\log n)^{1-o(1)}}$.
3-Coloring $C_4$ or $C_3$-free Diameter Two Graphs
The question of whether 3-Coloring can be solved in polynomial-time for the diameter two graphs is a well-known open problem in the area of algorithmic graph theory. We study the problem restricted to graph classes that avoid cycles of given lengths as induced subgraphs. Martin et. al. [CIAC 2021] showed that the problem is polynomial-time solvable for $C_5$-free or $C_6$-free graphs, and, $(C_4,C_s)$-free graphs where $s \in \{3,7,8,9\}$. We extend their result proving that it is polynomial-time solvable for $(C_4,C_s)$-free graphs, for any constant $s$, and for $(C_3,C_7)$-free graphs. Our results also hold for the more general problem List 3-Colouring.
Correspondence coloring of random graphs
We show that Erdős-Rényi random graphs $G(n,p)$ with constant density $p<1$ have correspondence chromatic number $O(n/\sqrt{\log n})$; this matches a prediction from linear Hadwiger's conjecture for correspondence coloring. The proof follows from a simple sufficient condition for correspondence colorability in terms of the numbers of independent sets.
