Moments of isotropic measures and optimal projective codes
In this paper, we use the linear programming approach to find new upper bounds for the moments of isotropic measures. These bounds are then utilized for finding lower packing bounds and energy bounds for projective codes. We also show that the obtained energy bounds are sharp for several infinite families of codes.
Properties of sets of Subspaces with Constant Intersection Dimension
A $(k,k-t)$-SCID (set of Subspaces with Constant Intersection Dimension) is a set of $k$-dimensional vector spaces that have pairwise intersections of dimension $k-t$. Let $\mathcal{C}=\{π_1,\ldots,π_n\}$ be a $(k,k-t)$-SCID. Define $S:=\langle π_1, \ldots, π_n \rangle$ and $I:=\langle π_i \cap π_j \mid 1 \leq i < j \leq n \rangle$. We establish several upper bounds for $\dim S + \dim I$ in different situations. We give a spectrum result for the case $(n-1)(k-t)\leq k$ and for the case $n\leq\frac{q^{t(n-η)}-1}{q^t-1}$, giving examples of $(k,k-t)$-SCIDs reaching a large interval of values for $\dim S + \dim I$.

Correlation functions in a dynamic quartic matrix model are obtained from the two-point function through a recurrence relation. This paper gives the explicit solution of the recurrence by mapping it bijectively to a two-fold nested combinatorial structure each counted by Catalan numbers. These `nested Catalan tables' have a description as diagrams of non-crossing chords and threads.
Palindromes in two-dimensional Words
A two-dimensional ($2$D) word is a $2$D palindrome if it is equal to its reverse and it is an HV-palindrome if all its columns and rows are $1$D palindromes. We study some combinatorial and structural properties of HV-palindromes and its comparison with $2$D palindromes. We investigate the maximum number number of distinct non-empty HV-palindromic sub-arrays in any finite $2$D word, thus, proving the conjecture given by Anisiua et al. We also find the least number of HV-palindromes in an infinite $2$D word over a finite alphabet size $q$.
Maximal $2$-distance sets containing the regular simplex
A finite subset $X$ of the Euclidean space is called an $m$-distance set if the number of distances between two distinct points in $X$ is equal to $m$. An $m$-distance set $X$ is said to be maximal if any vector cannot be added to $X$ while maintaining the $m$-distance condition. We investigate a necessary and sufficient condition for vectors to be added to a regular simplex such that the set has only $2$ distances. We construct several $d$-dimensional maximal $2$-distance sets that contain a $d$-dimensional regular simplex. In particular, there exist infinitely many maximal non-spherical $2$-distance sets that contain both the regular simplex and the representation of a strongly resolvable design. The maximal $2$-distance set has size $2s^2(s+1)$, and the dimension is $d=(s-1)(s+1)^2-1$, where $s$ is a prime power.
Maximin share allocations on cycles
The problem of fair division of indivisible goods is a fundamental problem of social choice. Recently, the problem was extended to the case when goods form a graph and the goal is to allocate goods to agents so that each agent's bundle forms a connected subgraph. For the maximin share fairness criterion researchers proved that if goods form a tree, allocations offering each agent a bundle of at least her maximin share value always exist. Moreover, they can be found in polynomial time. We consider here the problem of maximin share allocations of goods on a cycle. Despite the simplicity of the graph, the problem turns out to be significantly harder than its tree version. We present cases when maximin share allocations of goods on cycles exist and provide results on allocations guaranteeing each agent a certain portion of her maximin share. We also study algorithms for computing maximin share allocations of goods on cycles.
The alternating run polynomials of permutations
In this paper, we first consider a generalization of the David-Barton identity which relate the alternating run polynomials to Eulerian polynomials. By using context-free grammars, we then present a combinatorial interpretation of a family of q-alternating run polynomials. Furthermore, we introduce the definition of semi-gamma-positive polynomial and we show the semi-gamma-positivity of the alternating run polynomials of dual Stirling permutations. A connection between the up-down run polynomials of permutations and the alternating run polynomials of dual Stirling permutations is established.
Constructing cocyclic Hadamard matrices of order 4p
Cocyclic Hadamard matrices (CHMs) were introduced by de Launey and Horadam as a class of Hadamard matrices with interesting algebraic properties. Ó Catháin and Röder described a classification algorithm for CHMs of order $4n$ based on relative difference sets in groups of order $8n$; this led to the classification of all CHMs of order at most 36. Based on work of de Launey and Flannery, we describe a classification algorithm for CHMs of order $4p$ with $p$ a prime; we prove refined structure results and provide a classification for $p \leqslant 13$. Our analysis shows that every CHM of order $4p$ with $p\equiv 1\bmod 4$ is equivalent to a Hadamard matrix with one of five distinct block structures, including Williamson type and (transposed) Ito matrices. If $p\equiv 3 \bmod 4$, then every CHM of order $4p$ is equivalent to a Williamson type or (transposed) Ito matrix.

We prove that for all fixed $p > 2$, the translative packing density of unit $\ell_p$-balls in $\mathbb{R}^n$ is at most $2^{(γ_p + o(1))n}$ with $γ_p < - 1/p$. This is the first exponential improvement in high dimensions since van der Corput and Schaake (1936).
On the singularity of random symmetric matrices
A well-known conjecture states that a random symmetric $n \times n$ matrix with entries in $\{-1,1\}$ is singular with probability $Θ\big( n^2 2^{-n} \big)$. In this paper we prove that the probability of this event is at most $\exp\big( - Ω( \sqrt{n} ) \big)$, improving the best known bound of $\exp\big( - Ω( n^{1/4} \sqrt{\log n} ) \big)$, which was obtained recently by Ferber and Jain. The main new ingredient is an inverse Littlewood-Offord theorem in $\mathbb{Z}_p^n$ that applies under very mild conditions, whose statement is inspired by the method of hypergraph containers.
A counterexample to Fuglede's conjecture in $(\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z})^4$ for all odd primes
In this short note we construct a spectral, non-tiling set of size $2p$ in $(\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z})^4$, $p$ odd prime. This example complements a previous counterexample in [arXiv:1509.01090], which existed only for $p \equiv 3 \pmod{4}$. On the contrary we show that the conjecture does hold in $(\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z})^4$.
A rectangular additive convolution for polynomials
We define the rectangular additive convolution of polynomials with nonnegative real roots as a generalization of the asymmetric additive convolution introduced by Marcus, Spielman and Srivastava. We then prove a sliding bound on the largest root of this convolution. The main tool used in the analysis is a differential operator derived from the "rectangular Cauchy transform" introduced by Benaych-Georges. The proof is inductive, with the base case requiring a new nonasymptotic bound on the Cauchy transform of Gegenbauer polynomials which may be of independent interest.
Structure of the largest subgraphs of $G_{n,p}$ with a given matching number
This paper examines the structure of the largest subgraphs of the Erdős-Rényi random graph, $G_{n,p}$, with a given matching number. This extends a result of Erdős and Gallai who, in 1959, gave a classification of the structures of the largest subgraphs of $K_n$ with a given matching number. We show that their result extends to $G_{n,p}$ with high probability when $p\ge \frac{8 \ln n}{n}$ or $p \ll \frac{1}{n}$, but that it does not extend (again with high probability) when $\frac{4\ln(2e)}{n} < p< \frac{\ln n}{3n}$.

We present a new algorithm for constructing minimal telescopers for rational functions in three discrete variables. This is the first discrete reduction-based algorithm that goes beyond the bivariate case. The termination of the algorithm is guaranteed by a known existence criterion of telescopers. Our approach has the important feature that it avoids the potentially costly computation of certificates. Computational experiments are also provided so as to illustrate the efficiency of our approach.
Approximate Spielman-Teng theorems for the least singular value of random combinatorial matrices
An approximate Spielman-Teng theorem for the least singular value $s_n(M_n)$ of a random $n\times n$ square matrix $M_n$ is a statement of the following form: there exist constants $C,c >0$ such that for all $η\geq 0$, $\Pr(s_n(M_n) \leq η) \lesssim n^{C}η+ \exp(-n^{c})$. The goal of this paper is to develop a simple and novel framework for proving such results for discrete random matrices. As an application, we prove an approximate Spielman-Teng theorem for $\{0,1\}$-valued matrices, each of whose rows is an independent vector with exactly $n/2$ zero components. This improves on previous work of Nguyen and Vu, and is the first such result in a `truly combinatorial' setting.
Enumeration of bounded lecture hall tableaux
Recently the authors introduced lecture hall tableaux in their study of multivariate little $q$-Jacobi polynomials. In this paper, we enumerate bounded lecture hall tableaux. We show that their enumeration is closely related to standard and semistandard Young tableaux. We also show that the number of bounded lecture hall tableaux is the coefficient of the Schur expansion of $s_λ(m+y_1,\dots,m+y_n)$. To prove this result, we use two main tools: non-intersecting lattice paths and bijections. In particular we use ideas developed by Krattenthaler to prove bijectively the hook content formula.
The $h^{*}$-polynomial of the cut polytope of $K_{2,m}$ in the lattice spanned by its vertices
The cut polytope of a graph is an important object in several fields, such as functional analysis, combinatorial optimization, and probability. For example, Sturmfels and Sullivant showed that the toric ideals of cut polytopes are useful in algebraic statistics. In the theory of lattice polytopes, the $h^{*}$-polynomial is one of the most important invariants. The necessary and sufficient condition in terms of graphs that the $h^{*}$-polynomial of a cut polytope is palindromic is known. However, except for trees, there are no classes of graphs for which the $h^{*}$-polynomial of their cut polytope is explicitly specified. In the present paper, we determine the $h^{*}$-polynomial of the cut polytope of complete bipartite graph $K_{2,m}$ using the theory of Gröbner bases of toric ideals.
A coupling of the spectral measures at a vertex
Given the adjacency matrix of an undirected graph, we define a coupling of the spectral measures at the vertices, whose moments count the rooted closed paths in the graph. The resulting joint spectral measure verifies numerous interesting properties that allow to recover minors of analytical functions of the adjacency matrix from its generalized moments. We prove an extension of Obata's Central Limit Theorem in growing star-graphs to the multivariate case and discuss some combinatorial properties using Viennot's heaps of pieces point of view.

We generalize Kudryavtseva and Mazorchuk's concept of canonical form of elements in Kiselman's semigroups to the setting of a Hecke-Kiselman monoid $\mathbf{HK}_Γ$ associated with a simple oriented graph $Γ$. We use confluence properties to associate with each element in $\mathbf{HK}_Γ$ a normal form; normal forms are not unique, and we show that they can be obtained from each other by a sequence of elementary commutations. We finally describe a general procedure to recover a (unique) lexicographically minimal normal form.

An $n \times n$ matrix $H$ is Butson-Hadamard if its entries are $k^{\text{th}}$ roots of unity and it satisfies $HH^* = nI_n$. Write $BH(n, k)$ for the set of such matrices.
Suppose that $k = p^αq^β$ where $p$ and $q$ are primes and $α\geq 1$. A recent result of {Ö}stergård and Paavola uses a matrix $H \in BH(n,pk)$ to construct $H' \in BH(pn, k)$. We simplify the proof of this result and remove the restriction on the number of prime divisors of $k$. More precisely, we prove that if $k = mt$, and each prime divisor of $k$ divides $t$, then we can construct a matrix $H' \in BH(mn, t)$ from any $H \in BH(n,k)$.
