Structural characterization of Cayley graphs
We show that the directed labelled Cayley graphs coincide with the rooted deterministic vertex-transitive simple graphs. The Cayley graphs are also the strongly connected deterministic simple graphs of which all vertices have the same cycle language, or just the same elementary cycle language. Under the assumption of the axiom of choice, we characterize the Cayley graphs for all group subsets as the deterministic, co-deterministic, vertex-transitive simple graphs.
Curvature estimate on the finite graph with large girth
The CD inequalities and CDE inequalities are useful in the estimate of curvature on graphs. This article is based on the ufinite graph with large girth, and finally concludes some curvature estimate in CD and CDE.
A brief overview of the sock matching problem

This short note deals with the so-called $ Sock \; Matching \; Problem$. We define $B_{n,k}$ as the number of all the finite sequences $a_1, \ldots, a_{2n}$ of nonnegative integers which contain at least one occurrence of $k$ $(1 \leq k \leq n)$ and for which $a_1 = 1 $, $a_{2n}=0$ and $ \mid a_i -a_{i+1}\mid \; = 1$. The value $a_i$ can be interpreted as the number of unmatched socks being present after having drawn the first $i$ socks randomly out of the pile which initially contained $n$ pairs of socks. Here, establishing a link between this problem and with both some old and some new results, related to the number of restricted Dyck paths, we obtain a few valid forms of the sock matching theorem and prove that the probability for $k$ unmatched socks to appear (in the very process of drawing one sock at a time) approaches $1$ as the number of socks becomes large enough.
Vizing's conjecture for cographs
We show that if $G$ is a cograph, that is $P_4$-free, then for any graph $H$, $γ(G\square H)\geq γ(G)γ(H)$. By the characterization of cographs as a finite sequence of unions and joins of $K_1$, this result easily follows from that of Bartsalkin and German. However, the techniques used are new and may be useful to prove other results.

Let $(W,S)$ be a Coxeter system and $\ast$ be an automorphism of $W$ with order $\leq 2$ such that $s^{\ast}\in S$ for any $s\in S$. Let $I_{\ast}$ be the set of twisted involutions relative to $\ast$ in $W$. In this paper we consider the case when $\ast=\text{id}$ and study the braid $I_\ast$-transformations between the reduced $I_\ast$-expressions of involutions. If $W$ is the Weyl group of type $B_n$ or $D_n$, we explicitly describe a finite set of basic braid $I_\ast$-transformations for all $n$ simultaneously, and show that any two reduced $I_\ast$-expressions for a given involution can be transformed into each other through a series of basic braid $I_\ast$-transformations. In both cases, these basic braid $I_\ast$-transformations consist of the usual basic braid transformations plus some natural "right end transformations" and plus exactly one extra transformation. The main result generalizes our previous work for the Weyl group of type $A_{n}$.

Let $b(n)$ denote the number of cubic partition pairs of $n$. In this paper, we aim to provide a strategy to obtain arithmetic properties of $b(n)$. This gives affirmative answers to two of Lin's conjectures.

The Ehrhart polynomial of a lattice polytope $P$ encodes information about the number of integer lattice points in positive integral dilates of $P$. The $h^\ast$-polynomial of $P$ is the numerator polynomial of the generating function of its Ehrhart polynomial. A zonotope is any projection of a higher dimensional cube. We give a combinatorial description of the $h^\ast$-polynomial of a lattice zonotope in terms of refined descent statistics of permutations and prove that the $h^\ast$-polynomial of every lattice zonotope has only real roots and therefore unimodal coefficients. Furthermore, we present a closed formula for the $h^\ast$-polynomial of a zonotope in matroidal terms which is analogous to a result by Stanley (1991) on the Ehrhart polynomial. Our results hold not only for $h^\ast$-polynomials but carry over to general combinatorial positive valuations. Moreover, we give a complete description of the convex hull of all $h^\ast$-polynomials of zonotopes in a given dimension: it is a simplicial cone spanned by refined Eulerian polynomials.

Is there some absolute $\varepsilon > 0$ such that for any claw-free graph $G$, the chromatic number of the square of $G$ satisfies $χ(G^2) \le (2-\varepsilon) ω(G)^2$, where $ω(G)$ is the clique number of $G$? Erdős and Nešetřil asked this question for the specific case of $G$ the line graph of a simple graph and this was answered in the affirmative by Molloy and Reed. We show that the answer to the more general question is also yes, and moreover that it essentially reduces to the original question of Erdős and Nešetřil.

Let $G$ be a claw-free graph on $n$ vertices with clique number $ω$, and consider the chromatic number $χ(G^2)$ of the square $G^2$ of $G$. Writing $χ'_s(d)$ for the supremum of $χ(L^2)$ over the line graphs $L$ of simple graphs of maximum degree at most $d$, we prove that $χ(G^2)\le χ'_s(ω)$ for $ω\in \{3,4\}$. For $ω=3$, this implies the sharp bound $χ(G^2) \leq 10$. For $ω=4$, this implies $χ(G^2)\leq 22$, which is within $2$ of the conjectured best bound. This work is motivated by a strengthened form of a conjecture of Erdős and Nešetřil.

We prove a number of results related to a problem of Po-Shen Loh, which is equivalent to a problem in Ramsey theory. Let $a=(a_1,a_2,a_3)$ and $b=(b_1,b_2,b_3)$ be two triples of integers. Define $a$ to be 2-less than $b$ if $a_i<b_i$ for at least two values of $i$, and define a sequence $a^1,\dots,a^m$ of triples to be 2-increasing if $a^r$ is 2-less than $a^s$ whenever $r<s$. Loh asks how long a 2-increasing sequence can be if all the triples take values in $\{1,2,\dots,n\}$, and gives a $\log_*$ improvement over the trivial upper bound of $n^2$ by using the triangle removal lemma. In the other direction, a simple construction gives a lower bound of $n^{3/2}$. We look at this problem and a collection of generalizations, improving some of the known bounds, pointing out connections to other well known problems in extremal combinatorics, and asking a number of further questions.

We present two results, the first on the distribution of the roots of a polynomial over the ring of integers modulo $n$ and the second on the distribution of the roots of the Sylvester resultant of two multivariate polynomials. The second result has application to polynomial GCD computation and solving polynomial diophantine equations.
Finite flag-transitive affine planes with a solvable automorphism group

In this paper, we consider finite flag-transitive affine planes with a solvable automorphism group. Under a mild number-theoretic condition involving the order and dimension of the plane, the translation complement must contain a linear cyclic subgroup that either is transitive or has two equal-sized orbits on the line at infinity. We develop a new approach to the study of such planes by associating them with planar functions and permutation polynomials in the odd order and even order case respectively. In the odd order case, we characterize the Kantor-Suetake family by using Menichetti's classification of generalized twisted fields and Blokhuis, Lavrauw and Ball's classifcation of rank two commutative semifields. In the even order case, we develop a technique to study permutation polynomials of DO type by quadratic forms and characterize such planes that have dimensions up to four over their kernels.

A sequence $\{ a_n \}_{n \ge 0}$ is said to be asymptotically $r$-log-convex if it is $r$-log-convex for $n$ sufficiently large. We present a criterion on the asymptotical $r$-log-convexity based on the asymptotic behavior of $a_n a_{n+2}/a_{n+1}^2$. As an application, we show that most P-recursive sequences are asymptotic $r$-log-convexity for any integer $r$ once they are log-convex. Moreover, for a concrete integer $r$, we present a systematic method to find the explicit integer $N$ such that a P-recursive sequence $\{a_n\}_{n \ge N}$ is $r$-log-convex. This enable us to prove the $r$-log-convexity of some combinatorial sequences.
Copositive Tensor Detection and Its Applications in Physics and Hypergraphs

Copositivity of tensors plays an important role in vacuum stability of a general scalar potential, polynomial optimization, tensor complementarity problem and tensor generalized eigenvalue complementarity problem. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for testing copositivity of high order tensors, and then present applications of the algorithm in physics and hypergraphs. For this purpose, we first give several new conditions for copositivity of tensors based on the representative matrix of a simplex. Then a new algorithm is proposed with the help of a proper convex subcone of the copositive tensor cone, which is defined via the copositivity of Z-tensors. Furthermore, by considering a sum-of-squares program problem, we define two new subsets of the copositive tensor cone and discuss their convexity. As an application of the proposed algorithm, we prove that the coclique number of a uniform hypergraph is equivalent with an optimization problem over the completely positive tensor cone, which implies that the proposed algorithm can be applied to compute an upper bound of the coclique number of a uniform hypergraph. Then we study another application of the proposed algorithm on particle physics in testing copositivity of some potential fields. At last, various numerical examples are given to show the performance of the algorithm.
After setting the definitions we discuss of diagonal inversions on $r$-Shröder paths, of parking fonctions on $r$-Shröder paths with an integer slope and we develop a formula for Shröder paths with a $1/r$ slope, with $r$ an integer.

Properties of the multiway discrepancy
Some properties of the multiway discrepanc of rectangular matrices of nonnegative entries are discussed. We are able to prove the continuity of this discrepancy, as well as some statements about the multiway discrepancy of some special matrices and graphs. We also conjecture that the k-way discrepancy is monotonic in k.
How much does a treedepth modulator help to obtain polynomial kernels beyond sparse graphs?

In the last years, kernelization with structural parameters has been an active area of research within the field of parameterized complexity. As a relevant example, Gajarsk{y} et al. [ESA 2013] proved that every graph problem satisfying a property called finite integer index admits a linear kernel on graphs of bounded expansion and an almost linear kernel on nowhere dense graphs, parameterized by the size of a $c$-treedepth modulator, which is a vertex set whose removal results in a graph of treedepth at most $c$, where $c \geq 1$ is a fixed integer. The authors left as further research to investigate this parameter on general graphs, and in particular to find problems that, while admitting polynomial kernels on sparse graphs, behave differently on general graphs.
In this article we answer this question by finding two very natural such problems: we prove that Vertex Cover admits a polynomial kernel on general graphs for any integer $c \geq 1$, and that Dominating Set does not for any integer $c \geq 2$ even on degenerate graphs, unless $\text{NP} \subseteq \text{coNP}/\text{poly}$. For the positive result, we build on the techniques of Jansen and Bodlaender [STACS 2011], and for the negative result we use a polynomial parameter transformation for $c\geq 3$ and an OR-cross-composition for $c = 2$. As existing results imply that Dominating Set admits a polynomial kernel on degenerate graphs for $c = 1$, our result provides a dichotomy about the existence of polynomial kernels for Dominating Set on degenerate graphs with this parameter.
Patterns in Inversion Sequences II: Inversion Sequences Avoiding Triples of Relations
Inversion sequences of length $n$, $\mathbf{I}_n$, are integer sequences $(e_1, \ldots, e_n)$ with $0 \leq e_i < n$ for each $i$. The study of patterns in inversion sequences was initiated recently by Mansour-Shattuck and Corteel-Martinez-Savage-Weselcouch through a systematic study of inversion sequences avoiding words of length 3. We continue this investigation by generalizing the notion of a pattern to a fixed triple of binary relations $(ρ_1,ρ_2,ρ_3)$ and consider the set $\mathbf{I}_n(ρ_1,ρ_2,ρ_3)$ consisting of those $e \in \mathbf{I}_n$ with no $i < j < k$ such that $e_i ρ_1 e_j$, $e_j ρ_2 e_k$, and $e_i ρ_3 e_k$. We show that "avoiding a triple of relations" can characterize inversion sequences with a variety of monotonicity or unimodality conditions, or with multiplicity constraints on the elements. We uncover several interesting enumeration results and relate pattern avoiding inversion sequences to familiar combinatorial families. We highlight open questions about the relationship between pattern avoiding inversion sequences and families such as plane permutations and Baxter permutations. For several combinatorial sequences, pattern avoiding inversion sequences provide a simpler interpretation than otherwise known.
