We study quadri-algebras and dual quadri-algebras. We describe the free quadri-algebra on one generator as a subobject of the Hopf algebra of permutations FQSym, proving a conjecture due to Aguiar and Loday, using that the operad of quadri-algebras can be obtained from the operad of dendriform algebras by both black and white Manin products. We also give a combinatorial description of free dual quadri-algebras. A notion of quadri-bialgebra is also introduced, with applications to the Hopf algebras FQSym and WQSym.

For every finite Coxeter group $Γ$, each positive braids in the corresponding braid group admits a unique decomposition as a finite sequence of elements of $Γ$, the so-called Garside-normal form. The study of the associated adjacency matrix $Adj(Γ)$ allows to count the number of Garside-normal form of a given length. In this paper we prove that the characteristic polynomial of $Adj(B_n)$ divides the one of $Adj(B_{n+1})$. The key point is the use of a Hopf algebra based on signed permutations. A similar result was already known for the type $A$. We observe that this does not hold for type $D$. The other Coxeter types ($I$, $E$, $F$ and $H$) are also studied.

Let $ G $ be a finite group of order $ n$. The strong power graph $\mathcal{P}_s(G) $ of $G$ is the undirected graph whose vertices are the elements of $G$ such that two distinct vertices $a$ and $b$ are adjacent if $a^{{m}_1}$=$b^{{m}_2}$ for some positive integers ${m}_1 ,{m}_2 < n$. In this article we classify all groups $G$ for which $\mathcal{P}_s(G)$ is line graph and Caley graph. Spectrum and permanent of the Laplacian matrix of the strong power graph $\mathcal{P}_s(G)$ are found for any finite group $G$.
On cycle-supermagic labelings of the disconnected graphs
In this paper we formulate cycle-supermagic labelings for the disjoint union of isomorphic copies of different families of graphs. We also prove that disjoint union of non isomorphic copies of fans and ladders are cycle-supermagic.

We compute the cohomology ring of the complement of a toric arrangement with integer coefficients and investigate its dependency from the arrangement's combinatorial data. To this end, we study a morphism of spectral sequences associated to certain combinatorially defined subcomplexes of the toric Salvetti category in the complexified case, and use a technical argument in order to extend the results to full generality. As a byproduct we obtain:
-a "combinatorial" version of Brieskorn's lemma in terms of Salvetti complexes of complexified arrangements,
-a uniqueness result for realizations of arithmetic matroids with at least one basis of multiplicity 1.

Let G be an n-vertex graph that contains linearly many cherries (i.e., paths on 3 vertices), and let c be a coloring of the edges of the complete graph K_n such that at each vertex every color appears only constantly many times. In 1979, Shearer conjectured that such a coloring c must contain a properly colored copy of G. We establish this conjecture in a strong form, showing that it holds even for graphs G with O(n^(4/3)) cherries and moreover this bound on the number of cherries is best possible up to a constant factor. We also prove that one can find a rainbow copy of such G in every edge-coloring of K_n in which all colors appear bounded number of times.
Our proofs combine a framework of Lu and Szekely for using the lopsided Lovasz local lemma in the space of random bijections together with some additional ideas.
Connectivity of Double Graphs
The double graph of a graph $G$ is defined as $\mathcal{D}[G]$ = $G \times T_2$, where \(T_2\) is the total graph with 2 vertices and $\times$ stands for the Kronecker product of graphs. In this paper, sufficient conditions for double graphs to be maximum vertex-connected, maximum edge-connected are presented.
Acyclic chromatic index of triangle-free 1-planar graphs

An acyclic edge coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper edge coloring such that every cycle is colored with at least three colors. The acyclic chromatic index $\chiup_{a}'(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the least number of colors in an acyclic edge coloring of $G$. It was conjectured that $\chiup'_{a}(G)\leq Δ(G) + 2$ for any simple graph $G$ with maximum degree $Δ(G)$. A graph is {\em $1$-planar} if it can be drawn on the plane such that every edge is crossed by at most one other edge. In this paper, we prove that every triangle-free $1$-planar graph $G$ has an acyclic edge coloring with $Δ(G) + 16$ colors.

A deterministic finite automaton (DFA) of $n$ states over a $k$-letter alphabet can be seen as a digraph with $n$ vertices which all have exactly $k$ labeled out-arcs ($k$-out digraph). In 1973 Grusho first proved that with high probability (whp) in a random $k$-out digraph there is a strongly connected component (SCC) of linear size that is reachable from all vertices, i.e., a giant. He also proved that the size of the giant follows a central limit law. We show that whp the part outside the giant contains at most a few short cycles and mostly consists of overlapping tree-like structures. Thus the directed acyclic graph (DAG) of a random $k$-out digraph is almost the same as the digraph with the giant contracted into one vertex. These findings lead to a new, concise and self-contained proof of Grusho's theorem. This work also contains some other results including the structure outside the giant, the phase transition phenomenon in strong connectivity, the typical distance, and an extension to simple digraphs.
Critical ideals of trees
Given a graph $G=(V, E)$, its generalized Laplacian matrix is given by \[ L(G,X_G)_{u,v}= \begin{cases} x_u&\text{if }u=v,\\ -m_{uv}&\text{if }u\neq v, \end{cases} \] where $X_G=\{x_u\, | \, u\in V(G)\}$ is a set of indeterminates and $m_{uv}$ is the number of edges between $u$ and $v$. The $j$-critical ideal of $G$ is the determinantal ideal generated by the minors of size $j$ of $L(G, X)$. A $2$-matching of $G$ is a subset $\mathcal{M}$ of its edges such that every vertex of $G$ has at most two incident edges in $\mathcal{M}$. We give a combinatorial description of a set of generators of the $j$-critical ideal of a tree $T$ as a function of a set of special $2$-matchings, which we called minimal, of the graph $T^\ell$ obtained from $T$ by adding a loop at each of its vertices. Also, we prove that the algebraic co-rank of $T$ is equal to the $2$-matching number of $T$, the maximum number of edges of a $2$-matching of $T$. As a consequence, one can compute each invariant factor of the critical group of any graph $G$ such that $G\setminus v$ is a tree for some of its vertices $v$, as the greatest common divisor of the evaluation of some polynomials associated to the minimal $2$-matchings of $T^\ell$. For instance, in the regular case, we recover some of the results obtained by Levine and Toumpakari about the critical group of a wired regular tree. Additionally, we can prove that the path $P_n$ is the unique simple graph with $n$ vertices and $n-1$ trivial critical ideals. We conjecture that the set of generators that we give is a reduced Gröbner basis and we can prove this for the $|V(T)|-1$-critical ideal. Finally, we apply the result in order to calculate the critical ideals of trees with depth two and some arithmetical trees associated to the reduction of elliptic curves of Kodaira type $I_n^*$.
Critical ideals of signed graphs with twin vertices

This paper studies critical ideals of graphs with twin vertices, which are vertices with the same neighbors. A pair of such vertices are called replicated if they are adjacent, and duplicated, otherwise. Critical ideals of graphs having twin vertices have good properties and show regular patterns. Given a graph $G=(V,E)$ and ${\bf d}\in \mathbb{Z}^{|V|}$, let $G^{\bf d}$ be the graph obtained from $G$ by duplicating ${\bf d}_v$ times or replicating $-{\bf d}_v$ times the vertex $v$ when ${\bf d}_v>0$ or ${\bf d}_v<0$, respectively. Moreover, given $δ\in \{0,1,-1\}^{|V|}$, let \[ \mathcal{T}_δ(G)=\{G^{\bf d}: {\bf d}\in \mathbb{Z}^{|V|} \text{ such that } {\bf d}_v=0 \text{ if and only if }δ_v=0 \text{ and } {\bf d}_vδ_v>0 \text{ otherwise}\} \] be the set of graphs sharing the same pattern of duplication or replication of vertices. More than one half of the critical ideals of a graph in $\mathcal{T}_δ(G)$ can be determined by the critical ideals of $G$. The algebraic co-rank of a graph $G$ is the maximum integer $i$ such that the $i$-{\it th} critical ideal of $G$ is trivial. We show that the algebraic co-rank of any graph in $\mathcal{T}_δ(G)$ is equal to the algebraic co-rank of $G^δ$. For a large enough ${\bf d}\in \mathbb{Z}^{V(G)}$, we show that the critical ideals of $G^{\bf d}$ have similar behavior to the critical ideals of the disjoint union of $G$ and some set $\{K_{n_v}\}_{\{v\in V(G)| d_v<0\}}$ of complete graphs and some set $\{T_{n_v}\}_{\{v\in V(G) \, |\, {\bf d}_v>0\}}$ of trivial graphs. Additionally, we pose important conjectures on the distribution of the algebraic co-rank of the graphs with twins vertices. These conjectures imply that twin-free graphs have a large algebraic co-rank, meanwhile a graph having small algebraic co-rank has at least one pair of twin vertices.
A transference principle for Ramsey numbers of bounded degree graphs
We investigate Ramsey numbers of bounded degree graphs and provide an interpolation between known results on the Ramsey numbers of general bounded degree graphs and bounded degree graphs of small bandwidth. Our main theorem implies that there exists a constant $c$ such that for every $Δ$, there exists $β$ such that if $G$ is an $n$-vertex graph with maximum degree at most $Δ$ having a homomorphism $f$ into a graph $H$ of maximum degree at most $d$ where $|f^{-1}(v)| \le βn$ for all $v \in V(H)$, then the Ramsey number of $G$ is at most $c^{d \log d} n$. A construction of Graham, Rödl, and Ruciński shows that the statement above holds only if $β\le (c')^Δ$ for some constant $c' < 1$. We further study the parameter $β$ using a density-type embedding theorem for bipartite graphs of small bandwidth. This theorem may be of independent interest.
The stable regularity lemma revisited

We prove a regularity lemma with respect to arbitrary Keisler measures mu on V, nu on W where the bipartite graph (V,W,R) is definable in a saturated structure M and the formula R(x,y) is stable. The proof is rather quick and uses local stability theory. The special case where (V,W,R) is pseudofinite, mu, nu are the counting measures and M is suitably chosen (for example a nonstandard model of set theory), yields the stable regularity theorem of Malliaris-Shelah (Transactions AMS, 366, 2014, 1551-1585), though without explicit bounds or equitability.
Connectivity in bridge-addable graph classes: the McDiarmid-Steger-Welsh conjecture

A class of graphs is bridge-addable if given a graph $G$ in the class, any graph obtained by adding an edge between two connected components of $G$ is also in the class. We prove a conjecture of McDiarmid, Steger, and Welsh, that says that if $\mathcal{G}_n$ is any bridge-addable class of graphs on $n$ vertices, and $G_n$ is taken uniformly at random from $\mathcal{G}_n$, then $G_n$ is connected with probability at least $e^{-\frac{1}{2}} + o(1)$, when $n$ tends to infinity. This lower bound is asymptotically best possible since it is reached for forests.
Our proof uses a "local double counting" strategy that may be of independent interest, and that enables us to compare the size of two sets of combinatorial objects by solving a related multivariate optimization problem. In our case, the optimization problem deals with partition functions of trees relative to a supermultiplicative functional.
Weakly Secure MDS Codes for Simple Multiple Access Networks

We consider a simple multiple access network (SMAN), where $k$ sources of unit rates transmit their data to a common sink via $n$ relays. Each relay is connected to the sink and to certain sources. A coding scheme (for the relays) is weakly secure if a passive adversary who eavesdrops on less than $k$ relay-sink links cannot reconstruct the data from each source. We show that there exists a weakly secure maximum distance separable (MDS) coding scheme for the relays if and only if every subset of $\ell$ relays must be collectively connected to at least $\ell+1$ sources, for all $0 < \ell < k$. Moreover, we prove that this condition can be verified in polynomial time in $n$ and $k$. Finally, given a SMAN satisfying the aforementioned condition, we provide another polynomial time algorithm to trim the network until it has a sparsest set of source-relay links that still supports a weakly secure MDS coding scheme.

Deleting edges to restrict the size of an epidemic

Motivated by applications in network epidemiology, we consider the problem of determining whether it is possible to delete at most $k$ edges from a given input graph (of small treewidth) so that the resulting graph avoids a set $\mathcal{F}$ of forbidden subgraphs; of particular interest is the problem of determining whether it is possible to delete at most $k$ edges so that the resulting graph has no connected component of more than $h$ vertices, as this bounds the worst-case size of an epidemic. While even this special case of the problem is NP-complete in general (even when $h=3$), we provide evidence that many of the real-world networks of interest are likely to have small treewidth, and we describe an algorithm which solves the general problem in time \genruntime ~on an input graph having $n$ vertices and whose treewidth is bounded by a fixed constant $w$, if each of the subgraphs we wish to avoid has at most $r$ vertices. For the special case in which we wish only to ensure that no component has more than $h$ vertices, we improve on this to give an algorithm running in time $O((wh)^{2w}n)$, which we have implemented and tested on real datasets based on cattle movements.
Gromov meets Phylogenetics - new Animals for the Zoo of Biocomputable Metrics on Tree Space
We present a new class of metrics for unrooted phylogenetic $X$-trees derived from the Gromov-Hausdorff distance for (compact) metric spaces. These metrics can be efficiently computed by linear or quadratic programming. They are robust under NNI-operations, too. The local behavior of the metrics shows that they are different from any formerly introduced metrics. The performance of the metrics is briefly analised on random weighted and unweighted trees as well as random caterpillars.
Factor Colorings of Linearly Recurrent Words
