A note on the ultra log-concavity of matroid intersection
In 1971, Mason conjectured that the numbers of independent sets of fixed size in a matroid constitute an ultra log-concave sequence. In 2020, this conjecture was proven by Brändén and Huh and independently by Anari, Liu, Gharan and Vinzant. Recently, this result was extended to $M^\natural$-concave functions. In this note, we make the next step by proving it for $M_2^\natural$-concave functions. This shows the same property for the intersection of any pair of matroids (which itself may not be a matroid).
Furthermore, we show that this can not be further extended to the intersections of three matroids by including a counterexample of partition matroids.
Measurable Matroids: Foundations and Min--Max Theorems
We develop a measure-theoretic analogue of matroid theory on standard atomless measure spaces. Motivated by the quotient-convergence framework for submodular set functions, our aim is to identify suitable measurable objects on the limit side of finite matroid theory and to develop their basic structural and optimization theory. We prove that measurable matroids admit equivalent descriptions by independent sets, bases, rank functions, and closure operators. The class includes normalized finite matroids, cycle matroids of graphings, and measurable analogues of partition, nested, lattice path, transversal, and matching matroids. We establish measurable analogues of truncation, elongation, direct sum, duality, and minors.
We prove measurable versions of Edmonds' matroid intersection theorem and the Edmonds--Fulkerson matroid union theorem, together with an attainment theorem for common bases. The intersection theorem retains the classical min--max form, with the maximum replaced in general by a supremum. Applied to partition matroids, it gives an exact Hall-deficiency formula for measurable matchings in bipartite graphings and a min--max theorem for continuous bipartite $b$-matchings, with applications to capacity-constrained transport and prescribed cross-sections. We give a rank-expansion criterion under which the supremum is attained. For bipartite graphings, this criterion specializes to the measurable perfect matching theorem of Lyons and Nazarov.
For measurable union, the Edmonds--Fulkerson rank formula remains valid. As a main application of measurable union and its attainment theorem, we prove measurable Nash-Williams--Tutte theorems for graphings, characterizing approximate coverings and packings by hyperfinite essential spanning forests and obtaining exact decompositions under strengthened rank inequalities.
Existence of Kähler algebras with Chow polynomials as Hilbert series
In this article, we study Chow polynomials of weakly ranked posets and prove the existence of Gorenstein algebras with the Kähler package such that their Hilbert--Poincaré series agrees with the Chow polynomial. Our statement provides evidence in support of a conjecture by Ferroni, Matherne and the second author about the existence of an algebra for every weakly ranked poset that generalizes the Feichtner--Yuzvinsky Chow ring for matroids. This allows us to prove strong inequalities for the coefficients of Chow polynomials; we prove log-concavity for all posets of weak rank at most six and provide counterexamples to log-concavity for any higher rank. For ranked posets we recover an even stronger condition, showing that the differences between consecutive coefficients constitute a pure O-sequence.
Clique number of xor-powers of Kneser graphs
Let $f_\ell(n, k)$ denote the clique number of the xor-product of $\ell$ isomorphic Kneser graphs KG(n,k). Alon and Lubetzky investigated the case of complete graphs as a coding theory problem and showed $f_\ell(n,1)\leq \ell n +1$. Imolay, Kocsis, and Schweitzer proved that $f_2(n,k)\leq n/k +c(k)$.
Here, the order of magnitude of $c(k)$ is determined to be $Θ\left( k \binom{2k}{k} \right)$. By explicit constructions and by an algebraic proof, it is shown that $\ell n- 2\ell-1 \leq f_\ell(n,1)\leq \ell n-\ell+1$ (for all $n \geq 1$ and $\ell\geq 3$). Finally, it is proved that the order of magnitude of $f$ lies between $Ω\left(n^{\left\lfloor \log_2(\ell+1)\right\rfloor}\right)$ and $O\left(n^{\left\lfloor \frac{\ell+1}{2} \right\rfloor} \right)$ (as $\ell$, $k$ are given and $n\to \infty$).
We conjecture that the lower bound gives the correct exponent.

In this article we investigate a problem in graph theory, which has an equivalent reformulation in extremal set theory similar to the problems researched in "A general 2-part Erdős-Ko-Rado theorem" by Gyula O.H. Katona, who proposed our problem as well. In the graph theoretic form we examine the clique number of the Xor product of two isomorphic $KG(N,k)$ Kneser graphs. Denote this number with $f(k,N)$. We give lower and upper bounds on $f(k,N)$, and we solve the problem up to a constant deviation depending only on $k$, and find the exact value for $f(2,N)$ if $N$ is large enough. We also compute that $f(k,k^2)$ is asymptotically equivalent to $k^2$.
Capacity of Lorentzian polynomials and distance to binomial distributions
In this paper we study the capacity of Lorentzian polynomials. We give a new proof of a theorem of Brändén, Leake and Pak. Our approach is probabilistic in nature and uses a lemma about a certain distance of binomial distributions to distributions with fixed expected value.
Short survey on stable polynomials, orientations and matchings
This is a short survey about the theory of stable polynomials and its applications. It gives self-contained proofs of two theorems of Schrijver. One of them asserts that for a $d$--regular bipartite graph $G$ on $2n$ vertices, the number of perfect matchings, denoted by $\mathrm{pm}(G)$, satisfies $$\mathrm{pm}(G)\geq \bigg( \frac{(d-1)^{d-1}}{d^{d-2}} \bigg)^{n}.$$ The other theorem claims that for even $d$ the number of Eulerian orientations of a $d$--regular graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, denoted by $\varepsilon(G)$, satisfies $$\varepsilon(G)\geq \bigg(\frac{\binom{d}{d/2}}{2^{d/2}}\bigg)^n.$$ To prove these theorems we use the theory of stable polynomials, and give a common generalization of the two theorems.
