Curves in projective space and RSK
The geometric Tevelev degrees of projective space enumerate general, pointed algebraic curves interpolating through the maximal possible number of points. Previous work expresses these invariants in terms of Schubert calculus. Extending ideas of Gillespie--Reimer-Berg, we use the RSK correspondence to give a positive interpretation of these counts in terms of the combinatorics of words.
Delta-matroids and toric degenerations in OG(n,2n+1)
We construct an explicit, embedded degeneration of the general torus orbit closure in the maximal orthogonal Grassmannian OG(n,2n+1) into a union of Richardson varieties. In particular, we deduce a formula for the cohomology class of the torus orbit closure, as a sum of products of Schubert classes. The moment map images of the degenerate pieces are the base polytopes of their underlying delta-matroids, and give a polyhedral decomposition of the unit hypercube, which had previously been studied by Chen-Sanchez-Veliz-Ying.
The HHMP decomposition of the permutohedron and degenerations of torus orbits in flag varieties
Let $Z\subset Fl(n)$ be the closure of a generic torus orbit in the full flag variety. Anderson-Tymoczko express the cohomology class of $Z$ as a sum of classes of Richardson varieties. Harada-Horiguchi-Masuda-Park give a decomposition of the permutohedron, the moment map image of $Z$, into subpolytopes corresponding to the summands of the Anderson-Tymoczko formula. We construct an explicit toric degeneration inside $Fl(n)$ of $Z$ into Richardson varieties, whose moment map images coincide with the HHMP decomposition, thereby obtaining a new proof of the Anderson-Tymoczko formula.
Degenerations of complete collineations and geometric Tevelev degrees of $\mathbb{P}^r$
We consider the problem of enumerating maps $f$ of degree $d$ from a fixed general curve $C$ of genus $g$ to $\mathbb{P}^r$ satisfying incidence conditions of the form $f(p_i)\in X_i$, where $p_i\in C$ are general points and $X_i\subset\mathbb{P}^r$ are general linear spaces. We give a complete answer in the case where the $X_i$ are points, where the counts, the ``Tevelev degrees'' of $\mathbb{P}^r$, were previously known only when $r=1$, when $d$ is large compared to $r,g$, or virtually in Gromov-Witten theory. We also give a complete answer in the case $r=2$ with arbitrary incidence conditions. Our main approach studies the behavior of complete collineations under various degenerations.
Torus orbit closures and 1-strip-less tableaux
We compare two formulas for the class of a generic torus orbit closure on the Grassmannian, due to Klyachko and Berget-Fink. The naturally emerging combinatorial objects are semi-standard fillings we call 1-strip-less tableaux.
Linear series on general curves with prescribed incidence conditions

Using degeneration and Schubert calculus, we consider the problem of computing the number of linear series of given degree $d$ and dimension $r$ on a general curve of genus $g$ satisfying prescribed incidence conditions at $n$ points. We determine these numbers completely for linear series of arbitrary dimension when $d$ is sufficiently large, and for all $d$ when either $r=1$ or $n=r+2$. Our formulas generalize and give new proofs of recent results of Tevelev and of Cela-Pandharipande-Schmitt.
Enumerating pencils with moving ramification on curves

We consider the general problem of enumerating branched covers of the projective line from a fixed general curve subject to ramification conditions at possibly moving points. Our main computations are in genus 1; the theory of limit linear series allows one to reduce to this case. We first obtain a simple formula for a weighted count of pencils on a fixed elliptic curve E, where base-points are allowed. We then deduce, using an inclusion-exclusion procedure, formulas for the numbers of maps E->P^1 with moving ramification conditions. A striking consequence is the invariance of these counts under a certain involution. Our results generalize work of Harris, Logan, Osserman, and Farkas-Moschetti-Naranjo-Pirola.
Circular Planar Electrical Networks II: Positivity Phenomena
Curtis-Ingerman-Morrow characterize response matrices for circular planar electrical networks as symmetric square matrices with row sums zero and non-negative circular minors. In this paper, we study this positivity phenomenon more closely, from both algebraic and combinatorial perspectives. Extending work of Postnikov, we introduce electrical positroids, which are the sets of circular minors which can simultaneously be positive in a response matrix. We give a self-contained axiomatic description of these electrical positroids. In the second part of the paper, we discuss a naturally arising example of a Laurent phenomenon algebra, as studied by Lam-Pylyavskyy. We investigate the clusters in this algebra, building off of initial work by Kenyon-Wilson, using an analogue of weak separation, as was originally introduced by Leclerc-Zelevinsky.
Circular Planar Electrical Networks I: The Electrical Poset EP_{n}
Following de Verdière-Gitler-Vertigan and Curtis-Ingerman-Morrow, we prove a host of new results on circular planar electrical networks. We introduce a poset EP_{n} of electrical networks with n boundary vertices, giving two equivalent characterizations, one combinatorial and the other topological. We then investigate various properties of the EP_{n}, proving that it is graded by number of edges of critical representatives. Finally, we answer various enumerative questions related to EP_{n}, adapting methods of Callan and Stein-Everett.
