Nef Cones of Hilbert Schemes of Orthogonal Grassmannians
We show the number of connected components of the Hilbert scheme of orthogonal Grassmannians under certain condition, and use this result to describe the geometry of the Hilbert scheme. Subsequently, we determine the Nef cone of the Hilbert scheme by identifying curves dual to the generators of its Neron-Severi group. Our results generalize those of ordinary Grassmannians by Seong, and our approach adapts his proof technique alongside relevant Schubert calculus.
Characterisations of strong $Δ$-matroids
We study characterisations of strong $Δ$-matroids, compiling a list of five equivalent descriptions. We show a variant of Wenzel's exchange property and the hyperplane exchange property of Borovik-Gelfand-White are equivalent. We also introduce two novel characterisations in terms of 'peerless' and 'isolated' antipodes within the system of feasible sets, banning certain configurations of antipodes either globally or locally. As a corollary, we obtain new 'local' exchange axioms for matroids and $Δ$-matroids. We give algebraic motivation for these new characterisations by introducing the peerless antipode equations, tropical equations that govern whether a $Δ$-matroid has no peerless antipodes. We show that these arise as the tropicalisation of a specific basis of quadratics cutting out the orthogonal Grassmannian.
Grassmann--Plücker functions for orthogonal matroids
We present a new cryptomorphic definition of orthogonal matroids with coefficients using Grassmann--Plücker functions. The equivalence is motivated by Cayley's identities expressing principal and almost-principal minors of a skew-symmetric matrix in terms of its Pfaffians. As a corollary of the new cryptomorphism, we deduce that each component of the orthogonal Grassmannian is parameterized by certain part of the Plücker coordinates.
Motivic Classes of Isotropic Degeneracy Loci and Symmetric Orbit Closures
We provide explicit formulas for computing the motivic Chern and Hirzebruch classes of degeneracy loci, especially those coming from the symplectic and odd orthogonal Grassmannians. The Chern--Schwartz--MacPherson classes, K-theory classes, and Cappell--Shaneson L-classes arise as specializations of the motivic Chern and Hirzebruch classes. Our result is the analogue of the result of Anderson--Chen--Tarasca for the degeneracy loci from the ordinary Grassmannians. As applications, we obtain the motivic Chern and Hirzebruch classes of orthogonal and symplectic orbit closures in flag varieties.
Delta-matroids and toric degenerations in OG(n,2n+1)
We construct an explicit, embedded degeneration of the general torus orbit closure in the maximal orthogonal Grassmannian OG(n,2n+1) into a union of Richardson varieties. In particular, we deduce a formula for the cohomology class of the torus orbit closure, as a sum of products of Schubert classes. The moment map images of the degenerate pieces are the base polytopes of their underlying delta-matroids, and give a polyhedral decomposition of the unit hypercube, which had previously been studied by Chen-Sanchez-Veliz-Ying.
Totally positive skew-symmetric matrices
A matrix is totally positive if all of its minors are positive. This notion of positivity coincides with the type A version of Lusztig's more general total positivity in reductive real-split algebraic groups. Since skew-symmetric matrices always have nonpositive entries, they are not totally positive in the classical sense. The space of skew-symmetric matrices is an affine chart of the orthogonal Grassmannian $\mathrm{OGr}(n,2n)$. Thus, we define a skew-symmetric matrix to be totally positive if it lies in the totally positive orthogonal Grassmannian. We provide a positivity criterion for these matrices in terms of a fixed collection of minors, and show that their Pfaffians have a remarkable sign pattern. The totally positive orthogonal Grassmannian is a CW cell complex and is subdivided into Richardson cells. We introduce a method to determine which cell a given point belongs to in terms of its associated matroid.
The positive orthogonal Grassmannian
The Plücker positive region $\mathrm{OGr}_+(k,2k)$ of the orthogonal Grassmannian emerged as the positive geometry behind the ABJM scattering amplitudes. In this paper we initiate the study of the positive orthogonal Grassmannian $\mathrm{OGr}_+(k,n)$ for general values of $k,n$. We determine the boundary structure of the quadric $\mathrm{OGr}_+(1,n)$ in $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}_{+}$ and show that it is a positive geometry. We show that $\mathrm{OGr}_+(k,2k+1)$ is isomorphic to $\mathrm{OGr}_+(k+1, 2k+2)$ and connect its combinatorial structure to matchings on $[2k+2]$. Finally, we show that in the case $n>2k+1$, the \emph{positroid cells} of $\mathrm{Gr}_+(k,n)$ do not induce a CW cell decomposition of $\mathrm{OGr}_+(k,n)$.

In this report we use our methods in arXiv:2204.03548 and its upcoming generalization to complete the construction of canonical mirror models for all cominuscule homogeneous spaces, by considering the maximal orthogonal Grassmannians $\mathrm{OG}(n + 1, 2n + 2)$.
K-classes of delta-matroids and equivariant localization
Delta-matroids are "type B" generalizations of matroids in the same way that maximal orthogonal Grassmannians are generalizations of Grassmannians. A delta-matroid analogue of the Tutte polynomial of a matroid is the interlace polynomial. We give a geometric interpretation for the interlace polynomial via the K-theory of maximal orthogonal Grassmannians. To do so, we develop a new Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch-type formula for the type B permutohedral variety.
The twist for electrical networks and the inverse problem
We construct an electrical-network version of the twist map for the positive Grassmannian, and use it to solve the inverse problem of recovering conductances from the response matrix. Each conductance is expressed as a biratio of Pfaffians as in the inverse map of Kenyon and Wilson; however, our Pfaffians are the more canonical $B$ variables instead of their tripod variables, and are coordinates on the positive orthogonal Grassmannian studied by Henriques and Speyer.
On torus quotients of Schubert varieties in orthogonal Grassmannian-II
Let $G=SO(8n+4,\mathbb{C})$ ($n\ge 1$). Let $B$ be a Borel subgroup of $G$ containing a maximal torus $T$ of $G.$ Let $P (\supset B)$ denote the maximal parabolic subgroup of $G$ corresponding to the simple root $α_{4n+2}$. In this article, we prove projective normality of the GIT quotients of certain Schubert varieties in the orthogonal Grassmannian $G/P$ with respect to the descent of a suitable $T$-linearized very ample line bundle.
From the $B$-Toda to the BKP hierarchy
It is shown that all $τ$-functions of BKP hierarchy can be written as Pfaffians of skew-symmetric matrices. $τ$-functions of BKP hierarchy are parameterized by points in the universal orthogonal Grassmannian manifold (UOGM). The UOGM is a disjoint union of Schubert cells, we classify and give explicit parameterization for points in each Schubert cell by constructing a frame for UOGM in the sense of Sato. $τ$-functions are then expressed in terms of these frames and Schur-Q functions. For concreteness we give a comprehensive study for the $τ$-functions of $B$-Toda which can be viewed as a finite version of the BKP hierarchy. Along the way we also give a constructive description for complex pure spinors du E. Cartan. As an application of our construction, we reprove a theorem due to A. Alexandrov which states that KdV solves BKP up to rescaling of the time parameters by $2$. We prove this by showing that the KdV hierarchy can be viewed as $4$-reduction of the BKP hierarchy. This interpretation gives complete characterization for the KdV orbits inside the BKP hierarchy. Other than a few facts from representation theory, the main tools we use to show the above results, however, are surprisingly simple linear algebra.

Let $G=Spin(8n, \mathbb{C})(n\ge 1)$ and $T_{G}$ be a maximal torus of $G.$ Let $P^{α_{4n}}(\supset T_{G})$ be the maximal parabolic subgroup of $G$ corresponding to the simple root $α_{4n}.$ Let $X$ be a Schubert variety in $G/P^{α_{4n}}$ admitting semi-stable point with respect to the $T$-linearized very ample line bundle $\mathcal{L}(2ω_{4n}).$ Let $R=\bigoplus_{k \in \mathbb{Z}_{\geq 0}}R_k,$ where $R_k=H^{0}(X, \mathcal{L}^{\otimes k}(2ω_{4n}))^{T_{G}}.$ In this article, we prove that for $n=1$ and $X=G/P^{α_4},$ the graded $\mathbb{C}$-algebra $R$ is generated by $R_1.$ As a consequence, we prove that the GIT quotient of $G/P^{α_{4}}$ is projectively normal with respect to the descent of the $T_{G}$-linearized very ample line bundle $\mathcal{L}(2ω_{4})$ and is isomorphic to the projective space $(\mathbb{P}^{2},\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{2}}(1))$ as a polarized variety. Further, we prove that $R$ is generated by $R_1$ and $R_2$ for some Schubert varieties in $G/P^{α_{4n}}$ (for $n \geq 2$). As a consequence, we prove that the GIT quotient of those Schubert varieties are projectively normal with respect to the descent of the $T_G$-linearized very ample line bundle $\mathcal{L}(4ω_{4n}).$
Moreover, for $G = Spin(2n,\mathbb{C})(n \ge 4)$ (respectively, $G=Sp(2n, \mathbb{C}) (n\ge 2)$) and a maximal torus $T_G$ of $G,$ we prove that the GIT quotient of $G/P^{α_{1}}$ is projectively normal with respect to the descent of the $T_G$-linearized very ample line bundle $\mathcal{L}(2ω_{1})$ and is isomorphic to the projective space $(\mathbb{P}^{n-2},\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{n-2}}(1))$ (respectively, $(\mathbb{P}^{n-1},\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^{n-1}}(1))$ as a polarized variety.

In a classical-type flag variety, we consider a Schubert variety associated to a vexillary (signed) permutation, and establish a combinatorial formula for the Hilbert-Samuel multiplicity of a point on such a Schubert variety. The formula is expressed in terms of excited Young diagrams, and extends results for Grassmannians due to Krattenthaler, Lakshmibai-Raghavan-Sankaran, and for the maximal isotropic (symplectic and orthogonal) Grassmannians to Ghorpade-Raghavan, Raghavan-Upadhyay, Kreiman, and Ikeda-Naruse. We also provide a new proof of a theorem of Li-Yong in the type A vexillary case. The main ingredient is an isomorphism between certain neighborhoods of fixed points, known as Kazhdan-Lusztig varieties, which, in turn, relies on a direct sum embedding previously used by Anderson-Fulton to relate vexillary loci to Grassmannian loci.

We express a Schubert expansion of the Chern-Mather class for Schubert varieties in the even orthogonal Grassmannian via integrals involving Pfaffians and pushforward of the small resolutions in the sense of Intersection Cohomology (IH) constructed by Sankaran and Vanchinathan, instead of the Nash blowup. The equivariant localization is employed to show the way of computing the integral. As a byproduct, we present the computations. For analogy and the completion of the method in ordinary Grassmannians, we also suggest Kazhdan-Lusztig classes associated to Schubert varieties in the Lagrangian and odd orthogonal Grassmannian.

In this paper we study the orthogonal momentum amplituhedron $\mathcal{O}_k$, a recently introduced positive geometry that encodes the tree-level scattering amplitudes in ABJM theory. We generate the full boundary stratification of $\mathcal{O}_k$ and show that its boundaries can be labelled by so-called orthogonal Grassmannian forests (OG forests). We also determine the generating function for enumerating boundaries according to their dimension and show that the Euler characteristic of $\mathcal{O}_k$ equals one. This provides a strong indication that the orthogonal momentum amplituhedron is homeomorphic to a ball. This paper is supplemented with the Mathematica package "orthitroids" which contains useful functions for studying the positive orthogonal Grassmannian and the orthogonal momentum amplituhedron.

In [RW19] Rietsch and Williams relate cluster structures and mirror symmetry for type A Grassmannians Gr(k, n), and use this interaction to construct Newton-Okounkov bodies and associated toric degenerations. In this article we define a cluster seed for the Lagrangian Grassmannian, and prove that the associated Newton-Okounkov body agrees up to unimodular equivalence with a polytope obtained from the superpotential defined by Pech and Rietsch on the mirror Orthogonal Grassmannian in [PR13].
$DIII$ clan combinatorics for the orthogonal Grassmannian
Borel subgroup orbits of the classical symmetric space $SO_{2n}/GL_n$ are parametrized by $DIII$ $(n,n)$-clans. We group the clans into "sects" corresponding to Schubert cells of the orthogonal Grassmannian, thus providing a cell decomposition for $SO_{2n}/GL_n$. We also compute a recurrence for the rank polynomial of the weak order poset on $DIII$ clans, and then describe explicit bijections between such clans, diagonally symmetric rook placements, certain pairs of minimally intersecting set partitions, and a class of weighted Delannoy paths. Clans of the largest sect are in bijection with fixed-point-free partial involutions.

We describe a relationship between work of Laksov, Gatto, and their collaborators on realizations of (generalized) Schubert calculus of Grassmannians, and the geometric Satake correspondence of Lusztig, Ginzburg, and Mirković and Vilonen. Along the way we obtain new proofs of equivariant Giambelli formulas for the ordinary and orthogonal Grassmannians, as well as a simple derivation of the "rim-hook" rule for computing in the equivariant quantum cohomology of the Grassmannian.
Schubert curves in the orthogonal Grassmannian
We develop a combinatorial rule to compute the real geometry of type B Schubert curves $S(λ_\bullet)$ in the orthogonal Grassmannian $\mathrm{OG}_n$, which are one-dimensional Schubert problems defined with respect to orthogonal flags osculating the rational normal curve. Our results are natural analogs of results previously known only in type A.
First, using the type B Wronski map, we show that the real locus of the Schubert curve has a natural covering map to $\mathbb{RP}^1$, with monodromy operator $ω$ defined as the commutator of jeu de taquin rectification and promotion on skew shifted semistandard tableaux. We then introduce two different algorithms to compute $ω$ without rectifying the skew tableau. The first uses recently-developed shifted tableau crystal operators, while the second uses local switches much like jeu de taquin. The switching algorithm further computes the K-theory coefficient of the Schubert curve: its nonadjacent switches precisely enumerate Pechenik and Yong's shifted genomic tableaux. The connection to K-theory also gives rise to a partial understanding of the complex geometry of these curves.
