Diameter Thresholds of Random Cayley Graphs
Given a group $G$, the model $\mathcal{G}(G,p)$ denotes the probability space of all Cayley graphs of $G$ where each element of $G$ is included in the generating set independently at random with probability $p$.
In this article, we investigate the threshold probabilities for the diameter of random graphs in this model. Specifically, let $d_N = (1-γ)\sqrt{\frac{\log{N}}{2\log{\log{N}}}}$, where $γ\in (0,1)$ is any fixed real number. We show that for any $\varepsilon > 0$, any family of groups $G_k$ of order $N_k$ for which $N_k \to \infty$, and any integer $2 \leqslant d\leqslant d_{N_k}$, a graph $Γ_k \in \mathcal{G}(G_k,p)$ with high probability has diameter at most $d$ if $p \geqslant \sqrt[d]{(1+\varepsilon) d! \frac{\log{N_k}}{N_k^{d-1}}}$, and diameter greater than $d$ if $p \leqslant \sqrt[d]{\frac{1-\varepsilon}{2^d} \frac{\log{N_k}}{N_k^{d-1}}}$.
Up to a constant factor, these thresholds are similar to those for the usual Erdős-Rényi random graphs. However, the precise thresholds in our model depend on the underlying family of groups. We provide specific examples of group families demonstrating that both of our bounds are best possible.

Super-strong Wilf equivalence classes of the symmetric group ${\mathcal S}_n$ on $n$ letters, with respect to the generalized factor order, were shown by Hadjiloucas, Michos and Savvidou (2018) to be in bijection with pyramidal sequences of consecutive differences. In this article we enumerate the latter by giving recursive formulae in terms of a two-dimensional analogue of non-interval permutations. As a by-product, we obtain a recursively defined set of representatives of super-strong Wilf equivalence classes in ${\mathcal S}_n$. We also provide a connection between super-strong Wilf equivalence and the geometric notion of shift equivalence---originally defined by Fidler, Glasscock, Miceli, Pantone, and Xu (2018) for words---by showing that an alternate way to characterize super-strong Wilf equivalence for permutations is by keeping only rigid shifts in the definition of shift equivalence. This allows us to fully describe shift equivalence classes for permutations of size $n$ and enumerate them, answering the corresponding problem posed by Fidler, Glasscock, Miceli, Pantone, and Xu (2018).

Super-strong (elsewhere referred to as strong) Wilf equivalence is a type of Wilf equivalence on words that was introduced by Kitaev et al. in 2009. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for two permutations in $n$ letters to be super-strongly Wilf equivalent, using distances between letters within a permutation. Furthermore, we give a characterization of such equivalence classes via two-colored binary trees. This allows us to prove, in the case of super-strong Wilf equivalence, the conjecture stated in (Kitaev et al., 2009) that the cardinality of each Wilf equivalence class is a power of 2.
A symmetric unimodal decomposition of the derangement polynomial of type $B$
The derangement polynomial $d_n (x)$ for the symmetric group enumerates derangements by the number of excedances. The derangement polynomial $d^B_n(x)$ for the hyperoctahedral group is a natural type $B$ analogue. A new combinatorial formula for this polynomial is given in this paper. This formula implies that $d^B_n (x)$ decomposes as a sum of two nonnegative, symmetric and unimodal polynomials whose centers of symmetry differ by a half and thus provides a new transparent proof of its unimodality. A geometric interpretation, analogous to Stanley's interpretation of $d_n (x)$ as the local $h$-polynomial of the barycentric subdivision of the simplex, is given to one of the summands of this decomposition. This interpretation leads to a unimodal decomposition and a new formula for the Eulerian polynomial of type $B$. The various decomposing polynomials introduced here are also studied in terms of recurrences, generating functions, combinatorial interpretations, expansions and real-rootedness.
Barycentric subdivisions and derangement polynomials for the even-signed permutation groups
The derangement polynomial for the symmetric group enumerates derangements by the number of excedances. It can be interpreted as the local $h$-polynomial, in the sense of Stanley, of the barycentric subdivision of the simplex. Motivated by this interpretation, we define a derangement polynomial for the even-signed permutation group. The coefficients of this polynomial are nonnegative, symmetric and unimodal. We show that they enumerate derangements in the even-signed permutation group according to a notion of excedance, which is analogous to the one introduced by Brenti for signed permutations. We also give an explicit formula for the corresponding exponential generating function.

The cluster complex $Δ(Φ)$ is an abstract simplicial complex, introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky for a finite root system $Φ$. The positive part of $Δ(Φ)$ naturally defines a simplicial subdivision of the simplex on the vertex set of simple roots of $Φ$. The local $h$-vector of this subdivision, in the sense of Stanley, is computed and the corresponding $γ$-vector is shown to be nonnegative. Combinatorial interpretations to the entries of the local $h$-vector and the corresponding $γ$-vector are provided for the classical root systems, in terms of noncrossing partitions of types $A$ and $B$. An analogous result is given for the barycentric subdivision of a simplex.
Face numbers of cubical barycentric subdivisions
The cubical barycentric subdivision sd_c(K) of a cubical complex K is introduced as an analogue of the barycentric subdivision of a simplicial complex. Explicit formulas for the short and long cubical h-vector of sd_c(K) are given, in terms of those of K. It is deduced that symmetry and nonnegativity of these h-vectors, as well as real rootedness of the short cubical h-polynomial, are preserved under cubical barycentric subdivision. The asymptotic behavior of the short and long cubical h-vectors of successive cubical barycentric subdivisions of K is also determined.
