Tropical reductive groups and principal bundles on metric graphs
We propose an elementary tropical analogue of a reductive group that combines the datum of a Weyl group and the tropicalization of a fixed maximal torus. For the classical groups, as well as $G_2$, these tropical reductive groups admit descriptions as tropical matrix groups that resemble their classical counterparts. Employing this perspective, we introduce tropical principal bundles on metric graphs and study their explicit presentations as pushforwards of line bundles along covers with symmetries and extra data. Our main result identifies the essential skeleton of the moduli space of semistable principal bundles on a Tate curve with its tropical analogue.
The trigonal construction and the second moment of the tropical Prym variety
We use the tropical trigonal construction to calculate the second moment of the tropical Prym variety of all double covers $π:\widetildeΓ\to Γ$ of tropical curves of genus $g(Γ)\leq 4$. The answer is expressed in terms of the signed graphic matroid of the double cover and consists a polynomial and piecewise-polynomial term. We relate the latter term, which does not occur in the analogous formula for the tropical Jacobian, to the problem of extending the Prym--Torelli map from the moduli space of admissible double covers to the second Voronoi compactification of the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties.
Critical groups in harmonic abelian quotients
A harmonic cover of graphs $p:\widetilde{X}\to X$ induces a surjective pushforward morphism $p_*:\operatorname{Jac}(\widetilde{X})\to \operatorname{Jac}(X)$ on the critical groups. In the case when $p$ is Galois with abelian Galois group, we compute the order of the kernel of $p_*$, and hence the relationship between the numbers of spanning trees of $\widetilde{X}$ and $X$, in terms of Zaslavsky's bias matroid associated to the cover $p:\widetilde{X}\to X$.
A matroidal perspective on the tropical Prym variety
We associate a matroid $M(\widetildeΓ/Γ)$ to a harmonic double cover $π:\widetildeΓ\to Γ$ of metric graphs. The matroid $M(\widetildeΓ/Γ)$ is a geometric interpretation of Zaslavsky's signed graphic matroid. We show that the principalization $\mathrm{Prym}_p(\widetildeΓ/Γ)$ of the tropical Prym variety of the double cover can be reconstructed from $M(\widetildeΓ/Γ)$, equipped with certain additional decorations. We describe the simplification of the matroid $M(\widetildeΓ/Γ)$ and show that the Prym variety does not change under simplification.
Chip-firing on graphs of groups
We define the Laplacian matrix and the Jacobian group of a finite graph of groups. We prove analogues of the matrix tree theorem and the class number formula for the order of the Jacobian of a graph of groups. Given a group $G$ acting on a graph $X$, we define natural pushforward and pullback maps between the Jacobian groups of $X$ and the quotient graph of groups $X/\!/G$. For the case $G=\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$, we also prove a combinatorial formula for the order of the kernel of the pushforward map.
The Prym variety of a dilated double cover of metric graphs
We calculate the volume of the tropical Prym variety of a harmonic double cover of metric graphs having non-trivial dilation. We show that the tropical Prym variety behaves discontinuously under deformations of the double cover that change the number of connected components of the dilation subgraph.
The tropical $n$-gonal construction
We give a purely tropical analogue of Donagi's $n$-gonal construction and investigate its combinatorial properties. The input of the construction is a harmonic double cover of an $n$-gonal tropical curve. For $n = 2$ and a dilated double cover, the output is a tower of the same type, and we show that the Prym varieties of the two double covers are dual tropical abelian varieties. For $n=3$ and a free double cover, the output is a tetragonal tropical curve with dilation profile nowhere $(2,2)$ or $(4)$, and we show that the construction can be reversed. Furthermore, the Prym variety of the double cover and the Jacobian of the tetragonal curve are isomorphic as principally polarized tropical abelian varieties. Our main tool is tropical homology theory, and our proofs closely follow the algebraic versions.

We prove an analogue of Kirchhoff's matrix tree theorem for computing the volume of the tropical Prym variety for double covers of metric graphs. We interpret the formula in terms of a semi-canonical decomposition of the tropical Prym variety, via a careful study of the tropical Abel-Prym map. In particular, we show that the map is harmonic, determine its degree at every cell of the decomposition, and prove that its global degree is $2^{g-1}$. Along the way, we use the Ihara zeta function to provide a new proof of the analogous result for finite graphs. As a counterpart, the appendix by Sebastian Casalaina-Martin shows that the degree of the algebraic Abel-Prym map is $2^{g-1}$ as well.

We consider the Ihara zeta function $ζ(u,X//G)$ and Artin-Ihara $L$-function of the quotient graph of groups $X//G$, where $G$ is a group acting on a finite graph $X$ with trivial edge stabilizers. We determine the relationship between the primes of $X$ and $X//G$ and show that $X\to X//G$ can be naturally viewed as an unramified Galois covering of graphs of groups. We show that the $L$-function of $X//G$ evaluated at the regular representation is equal to $ζ(u,X)$ and that $ζ(u,X//G)$ divides $ζ(u,X)$. We derive two-term and three-term determinant formulas for the zeta and $L$-functions, and compute several examples of $L$-functions of edge-free quotients of the tetrahedron graph $K_4$.

Let $\mathfrak{A}$ be a finite abelian group. In this article, we classify harmonic $\mathfrak{A}$-covers of a tropical curve $Γ$ (which allow dilation along edges and at vertices) in terms of the cohomology group of a suitably defined sheaf on $Γ$. We give a realizability criterion for harmonic $\mathfrak{A}$-covers by patching local monodromy data in an extended homology group on $Γ$. As an explicit example, we work out the case $\mathfrak{A}=\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$ and explain how realizability for such covers is related to the nowhere-zero flow problem from graph theory.
