On circulant ternary coherent configurations of prime degree
Ternary coherent configurations are, on the one hand, a special case of multidimensional coherent configurations introduced by L. Babai (2016), and, on the other hand, a natural generalization of association schemes on triples introduced by D. M. Mesner and P. Bhattacharya (1990). A ternary coherent configuration X is said to be circulant if the automorphism group Aut(X) of X has a regular cyclic subgroup, and schurian if the classes of X are the orbits of the componentwise action of the group Aut(X) on triples of points of X. It is proved that any circulant ternary coherent configuration X of prime degree p is schurian with the possible exception of the case when X is an association schemes on triples and either Aut(X) = AGL1(p) and p = +1, or -1 (mod 8), or Aut(X) is a proper subgrou of AGL1(p).
On the Weisfeiler algorithm of depth-$1$ stabilization
An origin of the multidimensional Weisfeiler-Leman algorithm goes back to a refinement procedure of deep stabilization, introduced by B. Weisfeiler in a paper included in the collective monograph ``On construction and identification of graphs"(1976). This procedure is recursive and the recursion starts from an algorithm of depth-$1$ stabilization, which has never been discussed in the literature. A goal of the present paper is to show that a simplified algorithm of the depth-$1$ stabilization has the same power as the $3$-dimensional Weisfeiler-Leman algorithm. It is proved that the class of coherent configurations obtained at the output of this simplified algorithm coincides with the class introduced earlier by the third author. As an application we also prove that if there exist at least two nonisomorphic projective planes of order $q$, then the Weisfeiler-Leman dimension of the incidence graph of any projective plane of order $q$ is at least $4$.
Minimizing the number of edges in $(C_4, K_{1,k})$-co-critical graphs
Given graphs $H_1, H_2$, a {red, blue}-coloring of the edges of a graph $G$ is a critical coloring if $G$ has neither a red $H_1$ nor a blue $ H_2$. A non-complete graph $G$ is $(H_1, H_2)$-co-critical if $G$ admits a critical coloring, but $G+e$ has no critical coloring for every edge $e$ in the complement of $G$. Motivated by a conjecture of Hanson and Toft from 1987, we study the minimum number of edges over all $(C_4, K_{1,k})$-co-critical graphs on $n$ vertices. We show that for all $k \ge 2 $ and $ n \ge k +\lfloor \sqrt {k-1} \rfloor +2$, if $G$ is a $(C_4,K_{1,k})$-co-critical graph on $n$ vertices, then \[e(G) \ge \frac{(k+2)n}2-3- \frac{(k-1)(k+ \lfloor \sqrt {k-2}\rfloor)}2.\] Moreover, this linear bound is asymptotically best possible for all $k\ge3$ and $n\ge3k+4$. It is worth noting that our constructions for the case when $ k$ is even have at least three different critical colorings. For $k=2$, we obtain the sharp bound for the minimum number of edges of $(C_4, K_{1,2})$-co-critical graphs on $n\ge5 $ vertices by showing that all such graphs have at least $2n-3$ edges. Our proofs rely on the structural properties of $(C_4,K_{1,k})$-co-critical graphs and a result of Ollmann on the minimum number of edges of $C_4$-saturated graphs.
Schur rings over infinite dihedral group
Schur rings over the infinite dihedral group $\mathcal{Z}\rtimes\mathcal{Z}_2$ are studied according to properties of Schur rings over infinite groups and the classification of Schur rings over infinite cyclic groups. Schur rings over $\mathcal{Z}\rtimes{\mathcal{Z}}_2$ are classified under the assumption that $\mathcal{Z}$ is an $\mathcal{A}$-subgroup. Those Schur rings are proved to be traditional.
On multidimensional Schur rings of finite groups
For any finite group $G$ and a positive integer $m$, we define andstudy a Schur ring over the direct power $G^m$, which gives an algebraic interpretation of the partition of $G^m$ obtained by the $m$-dimensional Weisfeiler-Leman algorithm. It is proved that this ring determines the group $G$ up to isomorphism if $m\ge 3$, and approaches the Schur ring associated with the group $Aut(G)$ acting on $G^m$ naturally if $m$ increases. It turns out that the problem of finding this limit ring is polynomial-time equivalent to the group isomorphism problem.
Notes on finite totally $2$-closed permutation groups
Let $N$ be a normal subgroup of a finite group $G$. For a faithful $N$-set $Δ$, applying the university embedding theorem one can construct a faithful $G$-set $Ω$. In this short note, it is proved that if the $2$-closure of $N$ in $Ω$ is equal to $N$, then the $2$-closure of $N$ in $Δ$ is also equal to $N$; in addition, it is proved that any abelian normal subgroup of a finite totally $2$-closed group is cyclic; finally, it is proved that if a finite nilpotent group is a direct of two nilpotent subgroups where the two factors have coprime orders and both of them are totally 2-closed then G is totally $2$-closed. As corollaries, several well-known results on finite totally 2-closed groups are reproved in more simple ways.

We present a closed formula for all Bern-Carrasco-Johansson (BCJ) numerators describing $D$-dimensional tree-level scattering amplitudes in a heavy-mass effective field theory with two massive particles and an arbitrary number of gluons. The corresponding gravitational amplitudes obtained via the double copy directly enter the computation of black-hole scattering and gravitational-wave emission. Our construction is based on finding a kinematic algebra for the numerators, which we relate to a quasi-shuffle Hopf algebra. The BCJ numerators thus obtained have a compact form and intriguing features: gauge invariance is manifest, locality is respected for massless exchange, and they contain poles corresponding to massive exchange. Counting the number of terms in a BCJ numerator for $n{-}2$ gluons gives the Fubini numbers $\mathsf{F}_{n-3}$, reflecting the underlying quasi-shuffle Hopf algebra structure. Finally, by considering an appropriate factorisation limit, the massive particles decouple, and we thus obtain a kinematic algebra and all tree-level BCJ numerators for $D$-dimensional pure Yang-Mills theory.

A well-known theorem of Vizing states that if $G$ is a simple graph with maximum degree $Δ$, then the chromatic index $χ'(G)$ of $G$ is $Δ$ or $Δ+1$. A graph $G$ is class 1 if $χ'(G)=Δ$, and class 2 if $χ'(G)=Δ+1$; $G$ is $Δ$-critical if it is connected, class 2 and $χ'(G-e)<χ'(G)$ for every $e\in E(G)$. A long-standing conjecture of Vizing from 1968 states that every $Δ$-critical graph on $n$ vertices has at least $(n(Δ-1)+ 3)/2$ edges. We initiate the study of determining the minimum number of edges of class 1 graphs $G$, in addition, $χ'(G+e)=χ'(G)+1$ for every $e\in E(\overline{G})$. Such graphs have intimate relation to $(P_3; k)$-co-critical graphs, where a non-complete graph $G$ is $(P_3; k)$-co-critical if there exists a $k$-coloring of $E(G)$ such that $G$ does not contain a monochromatic copy of $P_3$ but every $k$-coloring of $E(G+e)$ contains a monochromatic copy of $P_3$ for every $e\in E(\overline{G})$. We use the bound on the size of the aforementioned class 1 graphs to study the minimum number of edges over all $(P_3; k)$-co-critical graphs. We prove that if $G$ is a $(P_3; k)$-co-critical graph on $n\ge k+2$ vertices, then \[e(G)\ge {k \over 2}\left(n- \left\lceil {k \over 2} \right\rceil - \varepsilon\right) + {\lceil k/2 \rceil+\varepsilon \choose 2},\] where $\varepsilon$ is the remainder of $n-\lceil k/2 \rceil $ when divided by $2$. This bound is best possible for all $k \ge 1$ and $n \ge \left\lceil {3k /2} \right\rceil +2$.

A Cartesian decomposition of a coherent configuration $\cal X$ is defined as a special set of its parabolics that form a Cartesian decomposition of the underlying set. It turns out that every tensor decomposition of $\cal X$ comes from a certain Cartesian decomposition. It is proved that if the coherent configuration $\cal X$ is thick, then there is a unique maximal Cartesian decomposition of $\cal X$, i.e., there is exactly one internal tensor decomposition of $\cal X$ into indecomposable components. In particular, this implies an analog of the Krull--Schmidt theorem for the thick coherent configurations. A polynomial-time algorithm for finding the maximal Cartesian decomposition of a thick coherent configuration is constructed.

Recent classification of $\frac{3}{2}$-transitive permutation groups leaves us with three infinite families of groups which are neither $2$-transitive, nor Frobenius, nor one-dimensional affine. The groups of the first two families correspond to special actions of ${\mathrm{PSL}}(2,q)$ and ${\mathrm{PΓL}}(2,q),$ whereas those of the third family are the affine solvable subgroups of ${\mathrm{AGL}}(2,q)$ found by D. Passman in 1967. The association schemes of the groups in each of these families are known to be pseudocyclic. It is proved that apart from three particular cases, each of these exceptional pseudocyclic schemes is characterized up to isomorphism by the tensor of its $3$-dimensional intersection numbers.

Given a positive integer $n$ and a planar graph $H$, let $\mathcal{T}_n(H)$ be the family of all plane triangulations $T$ on $n$ vertices such that $T$ contains a subgraph isomorphic to $H$. The planar anti-Ramsey number of $H$, denoted $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, H)$, is the maximum number of colors in an edge-coloring of a plane triangulation $T\in \mathcal{T}_n(H)$ such that $T$ contains no rainbow copy of $H$. In this paper we study planar anti-Ramsey numbers of matchings. For all $t\ge1$, let $M_t$ denote a matching of size $t$. We prove that for all $t\ge6$ and $n\ge 3t-6$, $2n+3t-15\le ar_{_{\mathcal{P}}}(n, {M}_t)\le 2n+4t-14$, which significantly improves the existing lower and upper bounds for $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, M_t)$. It seems that for each $t\ge6$, the lower bound we obtained is the exact value of $ar_{_{\mathcal{P}}}(n, {M}_t)$ for sufficiently large $n$. This is indeed the case for $M_6$. We prove that $ar_{_\mathcal{P}}(n, M_6)=2n+3$ for all $n\ge30$.

Let X be a coherent configuration associated with a transitive group G. In terms of the intersection numbers of X, a necessary condition for the point stabilizer of G to be a TI-subgroup, is established. Furthermore, under this condition, X is determined up to isomorphism by the intersection numbers. It is also proved that asymptotically, this condition is also sufficient. More precisely, an arbitrary homogeneous coherent configuration satisfying this condition is associated with a transitive group, the point stabilizer of which is a TI-subgroup. As a byproduct of the developed theory, recent results on pseudocyclic and quasi-thin association schemes are generalized and improved. In particular, it is shown that any scheme of prime degree p and valency k is associated with a transitive group, whenever p>1+6k(k-1)^2.
