The semi-inducibility of the blue--blue--red path on four vertices
For an $n$-vertex graph $G$, let $N(H_3,G)$ be the number of injective labeled copies of the red-blue path $H_3$ for which the two blue pairs are mapped to non-edges of $G$ and the red pair is mapped to an edge of $G$. We determine the maximum limiting value of $N(H_3,G)/n^4$ and give an extremal construction, which is the disjoint union of a clique and an asymptotically regular graph. The proof uses weighted vertex quotients and degree-square tie-breaking. We thereby resolve the exceptional four-vertex case left open in the recent classification of non-complete red-blue graphs.

The exact generalized Turán number for \(C_6\) in \(C_8\)-free graphs
For graphs $F$ and $H$, let $\ex(n,F,H)$ denote the maximum number of copies of $F$ in an $n$-vertex $H$-free graph. Gerbner, Győri, Methuku and Vizer proved that $\ex(n,C_6,C_8)=Θ(n^3)$ and predicted that the unrestricted problem should have the same first-order asymptotics as the bipartite one. We determine the exact value for all sufficiently large $n$, showing that \[ \ex(n,C_6,C_8)=6\binom{n-3}{3}+12(n-5). \] Moreover, the unique extremal graph is $K_3\vee (K_2\cup I_{n-5})$. The main new ingredient is a codegree decomposition for $C_8$-free graphs: a packing lemma for triangles in the linear-codegree graph recovers an almost spanning common neighborhood, and a defect-absorption argument upgrades this stability to the exact extremal graph.

Fixed-density profiles for the semi-induced 4-vertex star
We study the fixed-density semi-inducibility profiles of the red-blue star $S_{2,1}$, which has one distinguished center, two red edges and one blue edge. For an $n$-vertex graph $G$, let $N(S_{2,1},G)$ be the number of injective labeled copies in which the two red edges of $S_{2,1}$ are mapped to edges of $G$ and its blue edge is mapped to a non-edge of $G$, that is, \begin{align*} N(S_{2,1},G)= \sum_{v\in V(G)} d(v)(d(v)-1)(n-1-d(v)). \end{align*} For every fixed red edge density $β\in[0,1]$, we determine both extremal $S_{2,1}$-densities. On the upper side, we prove the missing low-density range and, together with the theorem of Balogh, Lidický, Mubayi, Pfender and Volec for $β\ge 1/4$, obtain the full four-branch profile predicted in their work. On the lower side, we show that the natural endpoint profile coming from the quasi-star and quasi-clique constructions is not universal; the correct minimum is given by a one-parameter three-class complement-split family. The proofs use a transfer argument with degree-square tie-breaking, reducing the extremal analysis to almost-regular, threshold and finite-staircase optimizations.
Vertex-colored Turán theorems with applications in extremal hypergraph problems
Balogh, Clemen, and Lidický proved that the $\ell_{2}$-norm Turán problem for $K_{5}^{3}$ is asymptotically solved by the balanced bipartite construction, and they further conjectured that this construction is uniquely extremal for all sufficiently large $n$. We confirm this conjecture. We also determine exactly the maximum number of cliques in an $n$-vertex $K_{5}^{3}$-free $3$-uniform hypergraph for all sufficiently large $n$, thereby verifying the corresponding case of a conjecture of Frankl, Gryaznov, and Talebanfard. The main ingredients are Turán-type theorems for vertex-colored graphs forbidding balanced cliques, including an edge bound, an $\ell_{2}$-norm bound, and a sharp crossing-triangle theorem in the two-colored balanced $K_{4}$-free case. We also use a local modification procedure within the stability method. This reduces the exact hypergraph problems to proving that the relevant objective function increases under suitable local changes near the bipartite construction.
Tetrahedron Conjecture in the $\ell_2$-norm
The famous Tetrahedron Conjecture of Turán from the 1940s asserts that the number of edges in an $n$-vertex $3$-graph without the tetrahedron, the complete $3$-graph on four vertices, cannot exceed that of the balanced complete cyclic $3$-partite $3$-graph, whose edges are of types $V_1 V_2 V_3$, $V_1 V_1 V_2$, $V_2 V_2 V_3$, and $V_3 V_3 V_1$. A recent surprising result of Balogh-Clemen-Lidický [J. Lond. Math. Soc. (2) 106 (2022)] shows that this conjecture is asymptotically true in the $\ell_2$-norm, where the number of edges is replaced by the sum of squared codegrees. They further conjectured that, in this $\ell_2$-norm setting, the $3$-partite construction is uniquely extremal for large $n$. We confirm this conjecture. Two key ingredients in our proofs include establishing a Mantel theorem for vertex-colored graphs that forbid certain types of triangles, and introducing a novel procedure integrated into Simonovits' stability method, which essentially reduces the task to verifying that the $\ell_2$-norm of certain near-extremal constructions increases under suitable local modifications. The strategy in the latter may be of independent interest and potentially applicable to other extremal problems.
Turán density of tight cycles minus one edge in the $\ell_2$-norm
The $3$-uniform tight $\ell$-cycle minus one edge $C_{\ell}^{3-}$ is the $3$-graph on $\ell$ vertices consisting of $\ell-1$ consecutive triples in the cyclic order. We show that for every integer $\ell \ge 5$ satisfying $\ell\not\equiv 0\pmod3$, every $C_{\ell}^{3-}$-free $3$-graph whose $\ell_2$-norm, that is, the sum of codegree squares, is close to the maximum must be structurally close to the iterative blowup of a single triple. This confirms a conjecture of Balogh--Clemen--Lidický~[Surveys in combinatorics 2022, 21-63] in a stronger form.

Tight bounds for rainbow partial $F$-tiling in edge-colored complete hypergraphs
For an $r$-graph $F$ and integers $n,t$ satisfying $t \le n/v(F)$, let $\mathrm{ar}(n,tF)$ denote the minimum integer $N$ such that every edge-coloring of $K_{n}^{r}$ using $N$ colors contains a rainbow copy of $tF$, where $tF$ is the $r$-graphs consisting of $t$ vertex-disjoint copies of $F$. The case $t=1$ is the classical anti-Ramsey problem proposed by Erdős--Simonovits--Sós~\cite{ESS75}. When $F$ is a single edge, this becomes the rainbow matching problem introduced by Schiermeyer~\cite{Sch04} and Özkahya--Young~\cite{OY13}. We conduct a systematic study of $\mathrm{ar}(n,tF)$ for the case where $t$ is much smaller than $\mathrm{ex}(n,F)/n^{r-1}$. Our first main result provides a reduction of $\mathrm{ar}(n,tF)$ to $\mathrm{ar}(n,2F)$ when $F$ is bounded and smooth, two properties satisfied by most previously studied hypergraphs. Complementing the first result, the second main result, which utilizes gaps between Turán numbers, determines $\mathrm{ar}(n,tF)$ for relatively smaller $t$. Together, these two results determine $\mathrm{ar}(n,tF)$ for a large class of hypergraphs. Additionally, the latter result has the advantage of being applicable to hypergraphs with unknown Turán densities, such as the famous tetrahedron $K_{4}^{3}$.

MaxCut in graphs with sparse neighborhoods
Let $G$ be a graph with $m$ edges and let $\mathrm{mc}(G)$ denote the size of a largest cut of $G$. The difference $\mathrm{mc}(G)-m/2$ is called the surplus $\mathrm{sp}(G)$ of $G$. A fundamental problem in MaxCut is to determine $\mathrm{sp}(G)$ for $G$ without specific structure, and the degree sequence $d_1,\ldots,d_n$ of $G$ plays a key role in getting lower bounds of $\mathrm{sp}(G)$. A classical example, given by Shearer, is that $\mathrm{sp}(G)=Ω(\sum_{i=1}^n\sqrt d_i)$ for triangle-free graphs $G$, implying that $\mathrm{sp}(G)=Ω(m^{3/4})$. It was extended to graphs with sparse neighborhoods by Alon, Krivelevich and Sudakov. In this paper, we establish a novel and stronger result for a more general family of graphs with sparse neighborhoods. Our result can derive many well-known bounds on surplus of $H$-free graphs for different $H$, such as triangles, even cycles, graphs having a vertex whose removal makes them acyclic, or complete bipartite graphs $K_{s,t}$ with $s\in \{2,3\}$. It can also deduce many new (tight) bounds on $\mathrm{sp}(G)$ in $H$-free graphs $G$ when $H$ is any graph having a vertex whose removal results in a bipartite graph with relatively small Turán number, especially the even wheel. This contributes to a conjecture raised by Alon, Krivelevich and Sudakov. Moreover, we obtain new families of graphs $H$ such that $\mathrm{sp}(G)=Ω(m^{3/4+ε(H)})$ for some constant $ε(H)>0$ in $H$-free graphs $G$, giving evidences to a conjecture suggested by Alon, Bollobás, Krivelevich and Sudakov.
