Counting sets with given doubling via dimension
We determine, up to a factor of $2^{o(k)}$, the number of $k$-sets $A \subset \{1, \ldots, n\}$ such that $|A + A| \leq m$, where $k = Θ(\log n)$ and $m \leq k^{1 + α}$, for small $α> 0$, answering a question of Green and Morris.
Dense sets without large sumsets
We prove, for all fixed $0 < δ< 1$, and all sufficiently large $n$, that there exists $S \subset [n]$ with $|S| \ge δn$ such that $A + B \not \subset S$ for all ${A, B \subset \mathbb{N}}$ satisfying $$\min\big\{|A|, |B|\big\} \ge \big(3 + o(1)\big) \frac{\log n }{ \log (1 / δ)}.$$ A very recent result of Hernández and Hetzel shows that our bound is sharp up to a factor of 3, and together our results settle a conjecture of Kra, Moreira, Richter, and Robertson. In fact, we prove that a $δ$-dense random subset of $[n]$ is a valid choice for $S$ with high probability, and that one can take $n^{-α} \le δ\le 1 - c$ where $c > 0$ is fixed and $α> 0$ depends only on the $o(1)$ error, answering another question of the same authors in a strong form.
An exponential upper bound for induced Ramsey numbers
The induced Ramsey number $R_{\mathrm{ind}}(H; r)$ of a graph $H$ is the minimum number $N$ such that there exists a graph with $N$ vertices for which all $r$-colourings of its edges contain a monochromatic induced copy of $H$. Our main result is the existence of a constant $C > 0$ such that, for every graph $H$ on $k$ vertices, these numbers satisfy \begin{equation*}
R_{\mathrm{ind}}(H; r) \le r^{C r k}. \end{equation*} When $r = 2$, this resolves a conjecture of Erdős from 1975. For $r > 2$, it answers a question of Conlon, Fox and Sudakov in a strong form.
Colour-bias perfect matchings in hypergraphs
We study conditions under which an edge-coloured hypergraph has a particular substructure that contains more than the trivially guaranteed number of monochromatic edges. Our main result solves this problem for perfect matchings under minimum degree conditions. This answers recent questions of Gishboliner, Glock and Sgueglia, and of Balogh, Treglown and Zárate-Guerén.

The Cayley sum graph $Γ_A$ of a set $A \subseteq \mathbb{Z}_n$ is defined to have vertex set $\mathbb{Z}_n$ and an edge between two distinct vertices $x, y \in \mathbb{Z}_n$ if $x + y \in A$. Green and Morris proved that if the set $A$ is a $p$-random subset of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ with $p = 1/2$, then the independence number of $Γ_A$ is asymptotically equal to $α(G(n, 1/2))$ with high probability. Our main theorem is the first extension of their result to $p = o(1)$: we show that, with high probability, $$α(Γ_A) = (1 + o(1)) α(G(n, p))$$ as long as $p \ge (\log n)^{-1/80}$.
One of the tools in our proof is a geometric-flavoured theorem that generalises Freĭman's lemma, the classical lower bound on the size of high dimensional sumsets. We also give a short proof of this result up to a constant factor; this version yields a much simpler proof of our main theorem at the expense of a worse constant.
Degree conditions for Ramsey goodness of paths
A classical result of Chvátal implies that if $n \geq (r-1)(t-1) +1$, then any colouring of the edges of $K_n$ in red and blue contains either a monochromatic red $K_r$ or a monochromatic blue $P_t$. We study a natural generalization of his result, determining the exact minimum degree condition for a graph $G$ on $n = (r - 1)(t - 1) + 1$ vertices which guarantees that the same Ramsey property holds in $G$. In particular, using a slight generalization of a result of Haxell, we show that $δ(G) \geq n - \lceil t/2 \rceil$ suffices, and that this bound is best possible. We also use a classical result of Bollobás, Erdős, and Straus to prove a tight minimum degree condition in the case $r = 3$ for all $n \geq 2t - 1$.

The $n$-dimensional hypercube $Q_n$ is a graph with vertex set $\{0,1\}^n$ such that there is an edge between two vertices if and only if they differ in exactly one coordinate. For any graph $H$, define $\text{ex}(Q_n,H)$ to be the maximum number of edges of a subgraph of $Q_n$ without a copy of $H$. In this short note, we prove that for any $n \in \mathbb{N}$ $$\text{ex}(Q_n, C_{10}) > 0.024 \cdot e(Q_n).$$ Our construction is strongly inspired by the recent breakthrough work of Ellis, Ivan, and Leader, who showed that "daisy" hypergraphs have positive Turán density with an extremely clever and simple linear-algebraic argument.

The $n$-dimensional random twisted hypercube $\mathbf{G}_n$ is constructed recursively by taking two instances of $\mathbf{G}_{n-1}$, with any joint distribution, and adding a random perfect matching between their vertex sets. Benjamini, Dikstein, Gross, and Zhukovskii showed that its diameter is $O(n\log \log \log n/\log \log n)$ with high probability and at least ${(n - 1)/ \log_2 n}$. We improve their upper bound by showing that $$\operatorname{diam}(\mathbf{G}_n) = \big(1 + o(1)\big) \frac{n}{\log_2 n}$$ with high probability.
The complexity of decomposing a graph into a matching and a bounded linear forest
Deciding whether a graph can be edge-decomposed into a matching and a $k$-bounded linear forest was recently shown by Campbell, H{ö}rsch and Moore to be NP-complete for every $k \ge 9$, and solvable in polynomial time for $k=1,2$. In the first part of this paper, we close this gap by showing that this problem is in NP-complete for every $k \ge 3$. In the second part of the paper, we show that deciding whether a graph can be edge-decomposed into a matching and a $k$-bounded star forest is polynomially solvable for any $k \in \mathbb{N} \cup \{ \infty \}$, answering another question by Campbell, H{ö}rsch and Moore from the same paper.
A lower bound for set-colouring Ramsey numbers
The set-colouring Ramsey number $R_{r,s}(k)$ is defined to be the minimum $n$ such that if each edge of the complete graph $K_n$ is assigned a set of $s$ colours from $\{1,\ldots,r\}$, then one of the colours contains a monochromatic clique of size $k$. The case $s = 1$ is the usual $r$-colour Ramsey number, and the case $s = r - 1$ was studied by Erdős, Hajnal and Rado in 1965, and by Erdős and Szemerédi in 1972.
The first significant results for general $s$ were obtained only recently, by Conlon, Fox, He, Mubayi, Suk and Verstraëte, who showed that $R_{r,s}(k) = 2^{Θ(kr)}$ if $s/r$ is bounded away from $0$ and $1$. In the range $s = r - o(r)$, however, their upper and lower bounds diverge significantly. In this note we introduce a new (random) colouring, and use it to determine $R_{r,s}(k)$ up to polylogarithmic factors in the exponent for essentially all $r$, $s$ and $k$.
