Injectivity of symmetric polynomial maps on partitions
Introduced by Ballantine, Beck, and Merca, the elementary symmetric partition function $\mathrm{pre}_k$, defined on the set of partitions with at least $k$ parts, has been a topic of recent interest. We prove that $\mathrm{pre}_k$ is injective on the set of $m$-ary partitions for positive integers $m \ge k$, generalizing the binary $k = 2$ result of Ballantine, Beck, and Merca, and complementing a result of Hadelyn, Niergarth, Li and Li showing that, for each $k \ge 3$, $\mathrm{pre}_k$ is not injective on partitions of $n$ with length $2k$ for infinitely many $n$. We introduce the skew Schur partition function $\mathrm{prs}_{λ'/μ'}$, prove injectivity results for particular choices of $λ',μ'$, and describe an application to representation theory.
Chute Move Posets are Lattices
For each permutation $w$, we consider the set $\mathrm{PD}(w)$ of reduced pipe dreams for $w$, partially ordered so that cover relations correspond to (generalized) chute moves. Settling a conjecture of Rubey from 2012, we prove that $\mathrm{PD}(w)$ is a lattice. To establish this result, we provide a global description of the partial order on $\mathrm{PD}(w)$ by showing that $\mathrm{PD}(w)$ is isomorphic to a poset consisting of objects called Lehmer tableaux. In addition, we prove that $\mathrm{PD}(w)$ is a semidistributive polygonal lattice whose polygons are all diamonds or pentagons.
Multitriangulations on the half-cylinder
We prove that the simplicial complex $Δ_{\mathcal{C}_n,2}$ is pure and a weak pseudomanifold of dimension $2(n-1)$, where $Δ_{\mathcal{C}_n,2}$ is the simplicial complex associated with $2$-triangulations on the half-cylinder with $n$ marked points. This result generalizes the work of Vincent Pilaud and Francisco Santos for polygons and resolves a conjecture of Mathias Lepoutre and Vincent Pilaud for $k=2$. To achieve this, we show that $2$-triangulations on the half-cylinder decompose as complexes of star polygons, and that $2$-triangulations on the half-cylinder are in bijection with $2$-triangulations on the $4n$-gon invariant under rotation by $π/2$ radians. Building on work by Vincent Pilaud and Christian Stump, we also introduce chevron pipe dreams, a new combinatorial model that more naturally captures the symmetries of $k$-triangulations.
Postnikov--Stanley polynomials are Lorentzian
Postnikov--Stanley polynomials $D_u^w$ are a generalization of skew dual Schubert polynomials to the setting of arbitrary Weyl groups. We prove that Postnikov--Stanley polynomials are Lorentzian by showing that they are degree polynomials of Richardson varieties. Our result yields an interesting class of Lorentzian polynomials related to the geometry of Richardson varieties, generalizes the result that dual Schubert polynomials are Lorentzian (Huh--Matherne--Mészáros--St. Dizier 2022), and resolves the conjecture that Postnikov--Stanley polynomials have M-convex support (An--Tung--Zhang 2024).
Newton polytopes of dual Schubert polynomials
The M-convexity of dual Schubert polynomials was first proven by Huh, Matherne, Mészáros, and St. Dizier in 2022. We give a full characterization of the supports of dual Schubert polynomials, which yields an elementary alternative proof of the M-convexity result, and furthermore strengthens it by explicitly characterizing the vertices of their Newton polytopes combinatorially.
Oriented matroid structures on rank 3 root systems
We show that, given a rank 3 affine root system $Φ$ with Weyl group $W$, there is a unique oriented matroid structure on $Φ$ which is $W$-equivariant and restricts to the usual matroid structure on rank 2 subsystems. Such oriented matroids were called oriented matroid root systems in Dyer-Wang (2021), and are known to be non-unique in higher rank. We also show uniqueness for any finite root system or "clean" rank 3 root system (which conjecturally includes all rank 3 root systems).

Evil-avoiding permutations, introduced by Kim and Williams in 2022, arise in the study of the inhomogeneous totally asymmetric simple exclusion process. Rectangular permutations, introduced by Chirivì, Fang, and Fourier in 2021, arise in the study of Schubert varieties and Demazure modules. Taking a suggestion of Kim and Williams, we supply an explicit bijection between evil-avoiding and rectangular permutations in $S_n$ that preserves the number of recoils. We encode these classes of permutations as regular languages and construct a length-preserving bijection between words in these regular languages. We extend the bijection to another Wilf-equivalent class of permutations, namely the $1$-almost-increasing permutations, and exhibit a bijection between rectangular permutations and walks of length $2n-2$ in a path of seven vertices starting and ending at the middle vertex.
The Sperner property for $132$-avoiding intervals in the weak order

A well-known result of Stanley from 1980 implies that the weak order on a maximal parabolic quotient of the symmetric group $S_n$ has the Sperner property; this same property was recently established for the weak order on all of $S_n$ by Gaetz and Gao, resolving a long-open problem. In this paper we interpolate between these results by showing that the weak order on any parabolic quotient of $S_n$ (and more generally on any $132$-avoiding interval) has the Sperner property. This result is proven by exhibiting an action of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ respecting the weak order on these intervals. As a corollary we obtain a new formula for principal specializations of Schubert polynomials. Our formula can be seen as a strong Bruhat order analogue of Macdonald's reduced word formula. This proof technique and formula generalize work of Hamaker, Pechenik, Speyer, and Weigandt and Gaetz and Gao.
Formations and generalized Davenport-Schinzel sequences
Let $up(r, t) = (a_1 a_2 \dots a_r)^t$. We investigate the problem of determining the maximum possible integer $n(r, t)$ for which there exist $2t-1$ permutations $π_1, π_2, \dots, π_{2t-1}$ of $1, 2, \dots, n(r, t)$ such that the concatenated sequence $π_1 π_2 \dots π_{2t-1}$ has no subsequence isomorphic to $up(r,t)$. This quantity has been used to obtain an upper bound on the maximum number of edges in $k$-quasiplanar graphs. It was proved by (Geneson, Prasad, and Tidor, Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2014) that $n(r, t) \le (r-1)^{2^{2t-2}}$.
We prove that $n(r,t) = Θ(r^{2t-1 \choose t})$, where the constant in the bound depends only on $t$. Using our upper bound in the case $t = 2$, we also sharpen an upper bound of (Klazar, Integers, 2002), who proved that $Ex(up(r,2),n) < (2n+1)L$ where $L = Ex(up(r,2),K-1)+1$, $K = (r-1)^4 + 1$, and $Ex(u, n)$ denotes the extremal function for forbidden generalized Davenport-Schinzel sequences. We prove that $K = (r-1)^4 + 1$ in Klazar's bound can be replaced with $K = (r-1) \binom{r}{2}+1$.
We also prove a conjecture from (Geneson, Prasad, and Tidor, Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2014) by showing for $t \geq 1$ that $Ex(a b c (a c b)^{t} a b c, n) = n 2^{\frac{1}{t!}α(n)^{t} \pm O(α(n)^{t-1})}$. In addition, we prove that $Ex(a b c a c b (a b c)^{t} a c b, n) = n 2^{\frac{1}{(t+1)!}α(n)^{t+1} \pm O(α(n)^{t})}$ for all $t \geq 1$.
