A Unified Combinatorial Approach to Several Poincare Series Identities
Mendes recently conjectured an identity simplifying the Poincaré series of the space of equivariant polynomial maps from $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ to a subrepresentation of $Sym^{2}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$. We show how to prove this identity using a fairly simple integer partition bijection. First, we give a bijective proof of a similar, well-known identity from representation theory. We then show that this bijection can be generalized to prove other Poincaré series identities, including a version of the identity conjectured by Mendes as well as refinements of it.
Two New Interpretations of the Fishburn Numbers and their Refined Generating Functions

We show that two classes of combinatorial objects--inversion tables with no subsequence of decreasing consecutive numbers and matchings with no 2-nestings--are enumerated by the Fishburn numbers. In particular, we give a simple bijection between matchings with no 2-nestings and inversion tables with no subsequence of decreasing consecutive numbers. We then prove using the involution principle that inversion tables with no subsequence of decreasing consecutive numbers have the same generating function as the Fishburn numbers. The Fishburn numbers have previously been shown by Bousquet-Mélou, Claesson, Dukes and Kitaev to enumerate $\textbf{(2+2)}$-avoiding posets, matchings with no left- or right-nestings, permutations avoiding a particular pattern, and so-called ascent sequences, and by Dukes and Parviainen to enumerate upper triangular matrices with non-negative entries and no empty rows or columns. Claesson and Linusson conjectured they also enumerated matchings with no 2-nestings. Using these new interpretations of the Fishburn numbers and another version of the involution, we prove the conjectured equality (also proven using matrices by Jelínek and by Yan) of two refinements by Remmel and Kitaev of the Fishburn generating function. In an appendix, we state and prove another conjecture of Claesson and Linusson giving the distribution of left-nestings over the set of all matchings.
Combinatorial Proofs of an Identity from Ramanujan's Lost Notebook and its Variations

We examine an identity originally stated in Ramanujan's ``lost notebook'' and first proven algebraically by Andrews and combinatorially by Kim. We give two independent combinatorial proofs and interpretations of this identity, which also extends an identity recently proven by Pak and Waarnar related to the product of partial theta functions: First, we give a direct combinatorial proof, using the involution principle, of a special case of the identity, and extend this into a direct combinatorial proof of the full identity as written. Second, we show that the identity can be rewritten, using minor algebraic manipulation, into an identity that can be proven with a direct bijection. We provide such a bijection using a generalization of a standard bijection from partition theory.

We describe proofs of the standard generating formulas for unsigned and signed Stirling numbers of the first kind that follow from a natural combinatorial interpretation based on cycle-colored permutations.
