Let $H$ be a monoid (written multiplicatively). We call $H$ Archimedean if, for all $a, b \in H$ such that $b$ is a non-unit, there is an integer $k \ge 1$ with $b^k \in HaH$; strongly Archimedean if, for each $a \in H$, there is an integer $k \ge 1$ such that $HaH$ contains any product of any $k$ non-units of $H$; and duo if $aH = Ha$ for all $a \in H$.
We prove that the ideals of two strongly Archimedean, cancellative, duo monoids make up isomorphic semigroups under the induced operation of setwise multiplication if and only if the monoids themselves are isomorphic up to units; and the same holds upon restriction to finitely generated ideals in Archimedean, cancellative, duo monoids. Then we use the previous results to tackle a new case of a problem of Tamura and Shafer from the late 1960s.
Factorizations into irreducible numerical semigroups
Every numerical semigroup can be expressed as an intersection of irreducible numerical semigroups. We show that the unions of sets of lengths of factorizations of numerical semigroups into irreducible numerical semigroups are all equal to $\mathbb{N}_{\ge 2}$.
Elements with unique length factorization of a numerical semigroup generated by three consecutive numbers
Let $S$ be the numerical semigroup generated by three consecutive numbers $a,a+1,a+2$, where $a\in\mathbb{N}$, $a\geq 3$. We describe the elements of $S$ whose factorizations have all the same length, as well as the set of factorizations of each of these elements. We give natural partitions of this subset of $S$ in terms of the length and the denumerant. By using Apéry sets and Betti elements we are able to extend some results, first obtained by elementary means.
Cyclotomic exponent sequences of numerical semigroups

We study the cyclotomic exponent sequence of a numerical semigroup $S,$ and we compute its values at the gaps of $S,$ the elements of $S$ with unique representations in terms of minimal generators, and the Betti elements $b\in S$ for which the set $\{a \in \operatorname{Betti}(S) : a \le_{S}b\}$ is totally ordered with respect to $\le_S$ (we write $a \le_S b$ whenever $a - b \in S,$ with $a,b\in S$). This allows us to characterize certain semigroup families, such as Betti-sorted or Betti-divisible numerical semigroups, as well as numerical semigroups with a unique Betti element, in terms of their cyclotomic exponent sequences. Our results also apply to cyclotomic numerical semigroups, which are numerical semigroups with a finitely supported cyclotomic exponent sequence. We show that cyclotomic numerical semigroups with certain cyclotomic exponent sequences are complete intersections, thereby making progress towards proving the conjecture of Ciolan, García-Sánchez and Moree (2016) stating that $S$ is cyclotomic if and only if it is a complete intersection.
Algorithms for Generalized Numerical Semigroups

We provide algorithms for performing computations in generalized numerical semigroups, that is, submonoids of $\mathbb{N}^{d}$ with finite complement in $\mathbb{N}^{d}$. These semigroups are affine semigroups, which in particular implies that they are finitely generated. For a given finite set of elements in $\mathbb{N}^d$ we show how to deduce if the monoid spanned by this set is a generalized numerical semigroup and, if so, we calculate its set of gaps. Also, given a finite set of elements in $\mathbb{N}^d$ we can determine if it is the set of gaps of a generalized numerical semigroup and, if so, compute the minimal generators of this monoid. We provide a new algorithm to compute the set of all generalized numerical semigroups with a prescribed genus (the cardinality of their sets of gaps). It was used to compute the number of such semigroups, and its implementation allowed us to compute (for various dimensions) the number of numerical semigroups for genus that had not been attained before.
The monoid of monotone functions on a poset and quasi-arithmetic multiplicities for uniform matroids
We describe the structure of the monoid of natural-valued monotone functions on an arbitrary poset. For this monoid we provide a presentation, a characterization of prime elements, and a description of its convex hull. We also study the associated monoid ring, proving that it is normal, and thus Cohen-Macaulay. We determine its Cohen-Macaulay type, characterize the Gorenstein property, and provide a Gröbner basis of the defining ideal. Then we apply these results to the monoid of quasi-arithmetic multiplicities on a uniform matroid. Finally we state some conjectures on the number of irreducibles for the monoid of multiplicities on an arbitrary matroid.

We introduce the concept of isolated factorizations of an element of a commutative monoid and study its properties. We give several bounds for the number of isolated factorizations of simplicial affine semigroups and numerical semigroups. We also generalize $α$-rectangular numerical semigroups to the context of simplicial affine semigroups and study their isolated factorizations. As a consequence of our results, we characterize those complete intersection simplicial affine semigroups with only one Betti minimal element in several ways. Moreover, we define Betti sorted and Betti divisible simplicial affine semigroups and characterize them in terms of gluings and their minimal presentations. Finally, we determine all the Betti divisible numerical semigroups, which turn out to be those numerical semigroups that are free for any arrangement of their minimal generators.

Given a numerical semigroup $S$, we let $\mathrm P_S(x)=(1-x)\sum_{s\in S}x^s$ be its semigroup polynomial. We study cyclotomic numerical semigroups; these are numerical semigroups $S$ such that $\mathrm P_S(x)$ has all its roots in the unit disc. We conjecture that $S$ is a cyclotomic numerical semigroup if and only if $S$ is a complete intersection numerical semigroup and present some evidence for it. Aside from the notion of cyclotomic numerical semigroup we introduce the notion of cyclotomic exponents and polynomially related numerical semigroups. We derive some properties and give some applications of these new concepts.

Delorme suggested that the set of all complete intersection numerical semigroups can be computed recursively. We have implemented this algorithm, and particularized it to several subfamilies of this class of numerical semigroups: free and telescopic numerical semigroups, and numerical semigroups associated to an irreducible plane curve singularity. The recursive nature of this procedure allows us to give bounds for the embedding dimension and for the minimal generators of a semigroup in any of these families.

This paper presents a new methodology to count the number of numerical semigroups of given genus or Frobenius number. We apply generating function tools to the bounded polyhedron that classifies the semigroups with given genus (or Frobenius number) and multiplicity. First, we give theoretical results about the polynomial-time complexity of counting the number of these semigroups. We also illustrate the methodology analyzing the cases of multiplicity 3 and 4 where some formulas for the number of numerical semigroups for any genus and Frobenius number are obtained.
