A Fano framework for binary delta-matroids
Dunshee and Ellingham recently showed that seven natural properties of a cellularly embedded graph form a Fano-plane framework. We establish an analogous framework for binary delta-matroids. For a binary delta-matroid $D$ and $τ$, let $Z_3(D,τ)$ denote its associated binary tight $3$-matroid. The six outer points are represented by evenness or bipartiteness of $D$ and its global vertex-flip transforms. For the seventh point, we call $D$ $Z_3$-bipartite when every circuit of $Z_3(D,τ)$ has even cardinality. We show that the satisfied properties are precisely the nonzero vectors of a subspace of $\Ftwo^3$. For ribbon-graphic delta-matroids, $Z_3$-bipartiteness is equivalent to bipartiteness of the medial graph, so the construction recovers the Fano-plane framework for embedded graphs.

Partial-twuality polynomial interpolation for binary delta-matroids
Gross, Mansour and Tucker introduced the partial-twuality polynomials for ribbon graphs and investigated the interpolation property of these polynomials. The ribbon group generated by $δ$ and $τ$ acts on set systems as twist $\ast$ and loop complementation $\times$, yielding five nontrivial twuality operators: $ \{\ast,\times,\ast\times ,\times\ast ,\ast\times\ast \}.$ Yan and Jin extended partial-twuality polynomials to set systems, yielding partial-$\bullet$ polynomials with $\bullet\in\{\ast,\times,\ast\times ,\times\ast ,\ast\times\ast\}.$ For partial-$\ast$ polynomials, Zhao and Yan proved that this polynomial is either even, odd, or both even-interpolating and odd-interpolating for every binary delta-matroid. In this paper, we extend this interpolation property to all the remaining nontrivial partial-twualities of binary delta-matroids. Consequently, for every binary delta-matroid and every $\bullet\in\{\ast,\times,\ast \times ,\times\ast ,\ast \times \ast \}$, the partial-$\bullet$ polynomial is either even, odd, or both even-interpolating and odd-interpolating. We also provide examples to show that the binary assumption is essential.

Recurrence and coefficient inequality for the partial Petrial polynomial of graphs
The partial Petrial polynomial of a ribbon graph, introduced by Gross, Mansour and Tucker, enumerates partial Petrials by Euler genus. Recently, Deng, Jin and Yan defined an analogue for grafts and showed that it can be expressed as a rank-generating function of an adjacency matrix. In this paper we first prove a recurrence relation that reduces the partial Petrial polynomial of a graph with respect to an arbitrary edge, expressing it as a sum of three terms involving graphs obtained by local complementation and edge pivoting. This recurrence extends the known leaf-reduction formula to vertices of any positive degree. Second, using this recurrence we compare the lowest and highest degree coefficients of the polynomial. We prove that the lowest coefficient is always at most the highest coefficient, and that equality holds if and only if the graph has no edges.

Twist polynomial interpolation for binary delta-matroids
Gross, Mansour and Tucker introduced the partial-dual polynomial of a ribbon graph and asked under what conditions such a polynomial is even-interpolating, odd-interpolating, or both. In this paper, we provide an answer to this open problem.Using the framework of delta-matroids, we prove that the twist polynomial of any binary delta-matroid is either an even polynomial, an odd polynomial, or both even-interpolating and odd-interpolating. Applying this to ribbon graphs, we deduce that the partial-dual polynomial of any ribbon graph satisfies the same conclusion.

Partial-twuality polynomials of matrices
The study of partial-twuality polynomials originates from the classical operations of geometric duality and Petrie duality on cellularly embedded graphs. These involutions generate the symmetric group $S_3$, and applying them to subsets of edges yields the notions of partial-(geometric) duality, partial-Petriality, and more generally, partial-twuality. In this paper, we generalize this theory of partial-twuality polynomials within the framework of matrix algebra. The key observation that the Euler genus of a bouquet under a partial-twuality can be expressed as a rank function of its adjacency matrix motivates and leads to the definition of a partial-twuality polynomial for an arbitrary square matrix over any field, thereby providing a universal algebraic counterpart to the topological polynomials. We then investigate basic properties of these polynomials, including product formulas, recursion relations, degrees, interpolation behaviors, and invariance and duality theorems under the matrix operations of pivoting and inversion. We conclude by posing some problems for further research.

On the maximum twist width of delta-matroids
For a ribbon graph $G$, let $γ(G)$ denote its Euler genus. Recently, Chen, Gross and Tucker [J. Algebraic Combin. 63 (2026) 13] derived a formula for the maximum partial-dual Euler-genus $\partialγ_M(G)$ of a ribbon graph $G$. Their key finding is that $\partialγ_M(G)$ can be achieved by a partial dual with respect to the edge set of a spanning quasi-tree. Moreover, they proposed the following problem: Given a ribbon graph $G$, is there a sequence of edges $e_1,e_2,\dots, e_k$ such that $γ(G^{\{e_1, e_2,\dots, e_k\}})=\partialγ_M(G)$ and such that the sequence $$γ(G), γ(G^{\{e_1\}}), \dots, γ(G^ {\{e_1, e_2,\dots, e_k\}})$$ rises monotonically (i.e., never decreasing) to $\partialγ_M(G)$? Delta-matroids are set systems that satisfy the symmetric exchange axiom and serve as a matroidal abstraction of ribbon graphs. In this paper, we first show that the maximum twist width of a set system can be attained by twisting one of its feasible sets, which extends the result of Chen, Gross and Tucker to set systems. Then we solve the delta-matroid version of their problem, thereby providing an affirmative answer to the original problem for ribbon graphs.

Matrix Quasi-tree Theorem
Building on prior work that established Matrix Quasi-tree Theorems for special embedded graphs, in this paper, we develop a comprehensive theory applicable to all embedded graphs. We introduce symbolic skew-adjacency matrices and reduction maps as key innovations, and prove that a specific polynomial derived from these matrices encodes all spanning quasi-trees of a bouquet. This result provides a complete analogue of the Matrix Tree Theorem for topological graph theory, with applications to quasi-tree enumeration in both orientable and non-orientable embedded graphs.

Proof of a conjecture of Fomichev and Karev
We prove a conjecture of Fomichev and Karev [{European J. Combin.} 127 (2025) 104160] by showing the equality of two graph invariants: $\varphi$, defined via graph colorings, and $ψ$, derived from the $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$-weight system of its 2-dimensional irreducible representation.

Orbits and self-twuality in set systems and delta-matroids
We introduce a new group action on set systems, constructed as a semidirect product of a permutation group and a group generated by twist and loop complementation operations on a single element. This action extends the ribbon group framework of Abrams and Ellis-Monaghan from ribbon graphs to set systems, facilitating a systematic investigation of self-twuality. We prove that different forms of self-twuality propagate through orbits under the group action and establish a characterization of the orbit of a vf-safe delta-matroid via multimatroids. As an application, we analyze orbits of ribbon-graphic delta-matroids. Our work answers a question posed by Abrams and Ellis-Monaghan and provides a unified algebraic framework for studying self-twuality in combinatorial structures.

Characterizing circle graphs with binomial partial Petrial polynomials
The partial Petrial polynomial was first introduced by Gross, Mansour, and Tucker as a generating function that enumerates the Euler genera of all possible partial Petrials on a ribbon graph. Yan and Li later extended this polynomial invariant to circle graphs by utilizing the correspondence between circle graphs and bouquets. Their explicit computation demonstrated that paths produce binomial polynomials, specifically those containing exactly two non-zero terms. This discovery led them to pose a fundamental characterization problem: identify all connected circle graphs whose partial Petrial polynomial is binomial. In this paper, we solve this open problem in terms of local complementation and prove that for connected circle graphs, the binomial property holds precisely when the graph is a path.

Introducing a vertex polynomial invariant for embedded graphs
The ribbon group action extends geometric duality and Petrie duality by defining two embedded graphs as twisted duals precisely when they lie within the same orbit under this group action. Twisted duality yields numerous novel properties of fundamental graph polynomials. In this paper, we resolve a problem raised by Ellis-Monaghan and Moffatt [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 364 (2012), 1529--1569] for vertex counts by introducing the vertex polynomial: a generating function quantifying vertex distribution across orbits under the ribbon group action. We establish its equivalence via transformations of boundary component enumeration and derive recursive relations through edge deletion, contraction, and twisted contraction. For bouquets, we prove the polynomial depends only on signed intersection graphs. Finally, we provide topological interpretations for the vertex polynomial by connecting this polynomial to the interlace polynomial and the topological transition polynomial.

On the constant partial-dual polynomials of hypermaps
In this paper, we introduce the partial-dual polynomial for hypermaps, extending the concept from ribbon graphs. We discuss the basic properties of this polynomial and characterize it for hypermaps with exactly one hypervertex containing a non-zero constant term. Additionally, we show that the partial-dual polynomial of a prime connected hypermap $H$ is constant if and only if $H$ is a plane hypermap with a single hyperedge.

Partial Petrial polynomials for complete graphs and paths
Recently, Gross, Mansour, and Tucker introduced the partial Petrial polynomial, which enumerates all partial Petrials of a ribbon graph by Euler genus. They provided formulas or recursions for various families of ribbon graphs, including ladder ribbon graphs. In this paper, we focus on the partial Petrial polynomial of bouquets, which are ribbon graphs with exactly one vertex. We prove that the partial Petrial polynomial of a bouquet primarily depends on its intersection graph, meaning that two bouquets with identical intersection graphs will have the same partial Petrial polynomial. Additionally, we introduce the concept of the partial Petrial polynomial for circle graphs and prove that for a connected graph with $n$ vertices ($n\geq 2$), the polynomial has non-zero coefficients for all terms of degrees from 1 to $n$ if and only if the graph is complete. Finally, we present the partial Petrial polynomials for paths.

The number of quasi-trees of bouquets with exactly one non-orientable loop
Recently, Merino extended the classical relation between the $2n$-th Fibonacci number and the number of spanning trees of the $n$-fan graph to ribbon graphs, and established a relation between the $n$-associated Mersenne number and the number of quasi-trees of the $n$-wheel ribbon graph. Moreover, Merino posed a problem of finding the Lucas numbers as the number of spanning quasi-trees of a family of ribbon graphs. In this paper, we solve the problem and give the Matrix-Quasi-tree Theorem for a bouquet with exactly one non-orientable loop. Furthermore, this theorem is used to verify that the number of quasi-trees of some classes of bouquets is closely related to the Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. We also give alternative proofs of the number of quasi-trees of these bouquets by using the deletion-contraction relations of ribbon graphs.

Twist polynomial as a weight system for set systems
Recently, Chmutov proved that the partial-dual polynomial considered as a function on chord diagrams satisfies the four-term relation. Deng et al. then proved that this function on framed chord diagrams also satisfies the four-term relation, i.e., is a framed weight system. In this paper, we extend their results to the twist polynomial of a set system by proving that the twist polynomial on set systems satisfies the four-term relation.

Eulerian-minors and a concise recursive characterization of 4-regular planar graphs
An Eulerian-minor of an Eulerian graph is obtained from an Eulerian subgraph of the Eulerian graph by contraction. The Eulerian-minor operation preserves Eulerian properties of graphs and moreover Eulerian graphs are well-quasi-ordered under Eulerian-minor relation. In this paper, we characterize Eulerian, planar and outer-planar Eulerian graphs by means of excluded Eulerian-minors, and provide a concise recursive characterization to 4-regular planar graphs.

Gross, Mansour and Tucker introduced the partial-twuality polynomial of a ribbon graph. Chumutov and Vignes-Tourneret posed a problem: it would be interesting to know whether the partial duality polynomial and the related conjectures would make sense for general delta-matroids. In this paper we consider analogues of partial-twuality polynomials for delta-matroids. Various possible properties of partial-twuality polynomials of set systems are studied. We discuss the numerical implications of partial-twualities on a single element and prove that the intersection graphs can determine the partial-twuality polynomials of bouquets and normal binary delta-matroids, respectively. Finally, we give a characterization of vf-safe delta-matroids whose partial-twuality polynomials have only one term.

Recently, we introduced the twist polynomials of delta-matroids and gave a characterization of even normal binary delta-matroids whose twist polynomials have only one term and posed a problem: what would happen for odd binary delta-matroids? In this paper, we show that a normal binary delta-matroid whose twist polynomials have only one term if and only if each connected component of the intersection graph of the delta-matroid is either a complete graph of odd order or a single vertex with a loop.

Twist polynomials of delta-matroids

Recently, Gross, Mansour and Tucker introduced the partial duality polynomial of a ribbon graph and posed a conjecture that there is no orientable ribbon graph whose partial duality polynomial has only one non-constant term. We found an infinite family of counterexamples for the conjecture and showed that essentially these are the only counterexamples. This is also obtained independently by Chumutov and Vignes-Tourneret and they posed a problem: it would be interesting to know whether the partial duality polynomial and the related conjectures would make sence for general delta-matroids. In this paper, we show that partial duality polynomials have delta-matroid analogues. We introduce the twist polynomials of delta-matroids and discuss its basic properties for delta-matroids. We give a characterization of even normal binary delta-matroids whose twist polynomials have only one term and then prove that the twist polynomial of a normal binary delta-matroid contains non-zero constant term if and only if its intersection graph is bipartite.
