Domination number of Token Graphs
The $k$-token graph of $G$ is the graph, $F_k(G)$, whose vertices are all the $k$-subsets of $V(G)$; with two of them adjacent whenever their symmetric difference is a pair of adjacent vertices in $G$. In this paper, we study the domination number of the token graphs of the star, $S_n$, and the complete graph, $K_n$.
On the Automorphisms of Token Graphs Generated by $2$-cuts with the Same Neighbours
Let $G$ be a connected graph on $n$ vertices and $1 \le k \le n-1$ an integer. The $k$-token graph of $G$ is the graph $F_k(G)$ whose vertices are all the $k$-subsets of vertices of $G$, two of which are adjacent whenever their symmetric difference is an edge of $G$. Every automorphism of $G$ induces an automorphism of $F_k(G)$ in a natural way. Suppose that $S:=\{x,y\}$ is a cut set of $G$, such that $x$ and $y$ have the same neighbours in $G\setminus \{x,y\}$. In this paper we show that there exist a large number of automorphisms of $F_k(G)$ defined by $S$ that are not induced by automorphisms of $G$. We also describe the group produced by all such $2$-cuts of $G$.
On the rectilinear crossing number of complete balanced multipartite graphs and layered graphs
A rectilinear drawing of a graph is a drawing of the graph in the plane in which the edges are drawn as straight-line segments. The rectilinear crossing number of a graph is the minimum number of pairs of edges that cross over all rectilinear drawings of the graph. Let $n \ge r$ be positive integers. The graph $K_n^r$, is the complete $r$-partite graph on $n$ vertices, in which every set of the partition has at least $\lfloor n/r \rfloor$ vertices. The layered graph, $L_n^r$, is an $r$-partite graph on $n$ vertices, in which for every $1\le i \le r-1$, all the vertices in the $i$-th partition are adjacent to all the vertices in the $(i+1)$-th partition. In this paper, we give upper bounds on the rectilinear crossing numbers of $K_n^r$ and~$L_n^r$.
On the Treewidth of Token and Johnson Graphs
Let $G$ be a graph on $n$ vertices and $1 \le k \le n$ a fixed integer. The \textit{$k$-token graph} of $G$ is the graph $F_k(G)$ whose vertex set consists of all $k$-subsets of the vertex set of $G$, where two vertices $A$ and $B$ are adjacent in $F_k(G)$ whenever their symmetric difference $A\triangle B$ is an edge of $G$. In this paper we study the treewidth of $F_k(G)$ when $G$ is a star, path, or a complete graph. We show that in the first two cases, the treewidth is of order $Θ(n^{k-1})$, and of order $Θ(n^k)$ in the third case. We conjecture that our upper bound for the treewidth of $F_k(K_n)$ is tight. This is particularly relevant since $F_k(K_n)$ is isomorphic to the well known Johnson graph $J(n,k)$.
A Note on the Asymptotic Value of the Isoperimetric Number of $J(n,2)$
Let $G$ be a graph on $n$ vertices and $S$ a subset of vertices of $G$; the boundary of $S$ is the set, $\partial S$, of edges of $G$ connecting $ S $ to its complement in $G$. The isoperimetric number of $G$, is the minimum of $\left| \partial S \right|/\left| S \right|$ overall $S \subset V(G)$ of at most $n/2$ vertices. Let $k \le n$ be positive integers. The Johnson graph is the graph, $J(n,k)$, whose vertices are all the subsets of size $k$ of $\{1,\dots,n\}$, two of which are adjacent if their intersection has cardinality equal to $k-1$. In this paper we show that the asymptotic value of the isoperimetric number of the Johnson graph $J(n,2)$ is equal to $ (2-\sqrt{2})n$.
A Note on the 2-Colored Rectilinear Crossing Number of Random Point Sets in the Unit Square
Let $S$ be a set of four points chosen independently, uniformly at random from a square. Join every pair of points of $S$ with a straight line segment. Color these edges red if they have positive slope and blue, otherwise. We show that the probability that $S$ defines a pair of crossing edges of the same color is equal to $1/4$. This is connected to a recent result of Aichholzer et al. [GD 2019] who showed that by 2-colouring the edges of a geometric graph and counting monochromatic crossings instead of crossings, the number of crossings can be more than halfed. Our result shows that for the described random drawings, there is a coloring of the edges such that the number of monochromatic crossings is in expectation $\frac{1}{2}-\frac{7}{50}$ of the total number of crossings.
On the Automorphism Group of Token Graphs of Complete Bipartite Graphs
Let $G$ be a graph of order $n$ and let $k\in \{1,2,\ldots,n-1\}$. The $k$-token graph of $G$ is the graph, whose vertices are all the $k$-subsets of vertices of $G$, where two such $k$-sets are adjacent whenever their symmetric difference is an edge of $G$. In this paper, we determine the automorphism group of the $k$-token graph of the complete bipartite graph $K_{m,n}$.
A Note on the $k$-colored Crossing Ratio of Dense Geometric Graphs
A \emph{geometric graph} is a graph whose vertex set is a set of points in general position in the plane, and its edges are straight line segments joining these points. We show that for every integer $k \ge 2$, there exists a constat $c>0$ such that the following holds. The edges of every dense geometric graph can be colored with $k$ colors, such that the number of pairs of edges of the same color that cross is at most $(1/k-c)$ times the total number of pairs of edges that cross. The case when $k=2$ and $G$ is a complete geometric graph, was proved by Aichholzer et al.[\emph{GD} 2019].
Connected ($C_4$,Diamond)-free Graphs Are Uniquely Reconstructible from Their Token Graphs
A diamond is the graph that is obtained from removing an edge from the complete graph on $4$ vertices. A ($C_4$,diamond)-free graph is a graph that does not contain a diamond or a cycle on four vertices as induced subgraphs. Let $G$ be a connected ($C_4$,diamond)-free graph on $n$ vertices. Let $1 \le k \le n-1$ be an integer. The $k$-token graph, $F_k(G)$, of $G$ is the graph whose vertices are all the sets of $k$ vertices of $G$; two of which are adjacent if their symmetric difference is a pair of adjacent vertices in $G$. Let $F$ be a graph isomorphic to $F_k(G)$. In this paper we show that given only $F$, we can construct in polynomial time a graph isomorphic to $G$. Let $\operatorname{Aut}(G)$ be the automorphism group of $G$. We also show that if $k\neq n/2$, then $\operatorname{Aut}(G) \simeq \operatorname{Aut}(F_k(G))$; and if $k = n/2$, then $\operatorname{Aut}(G) \simeq \operatorname{Aut}(F_k(G)) \times \mathbb{Z}_2$.

Let $S$ be a set of $n$ points in general position in the plane. Suppose that each point of $S$ has been assigned one of $k \ge 3$ possible colors and that there is the same number, $m$, of points of each color class. A polygon with vertices on $S$ is empty if it does not contain points of $S$ in its interior; and it is rainbow if all its vertices have different colors. Let $f(k,m)$ be the minimum number of empty rainbow triangles determined by $S$. In this paper we give tight asymptotic bounds for this function. Furthermore, we show that $S$ may not determine an empty rainbow quadrilateral for some arbitrarily large values of $k$ and $m$.

Let $k$ and $n$ be integers such that $1\leq k \leq n-1$, and let $G$ be a simple graph of order $n$. The $k$-token graph $F_k(G)$ of $G$ is the graph whose vertices are the $k$-subsets of $V(G)$, where two vertices are adjacent in $F_k(G)$ whenever their symmetric difference is an edge of $G$. In this paper we show that if $G$ is a tree, then the connectivity of $F_k(G)$ is equal to the minimum degree of $F_k(G)$.
On the 2-colored crossing number
Let $D$ be a straight-line drawing of a graph. The rectilinear 2-colored crossing number of $D$ is the minimum number of crossings between edges of the same color, taken over all possible 2-colorings of the edges of $D$. First, we show lower and upper bounds on the rectilinear 2-colored crossing number for the complete graph $K_n$. To obtain this result, we prove that asymptotic bounds can be derived from optimal and near-optimal instances with few vertices. We obtain such instances using a combination of heuristics and integer programming. Second, for any fixed drawing of $K_n$, we improve the bound on the ratio between its rectilinear 2-colored crossing number and its rectilinear crossing number.

A drawing of a graph in the plane is {\it pseudolinear} if the edges of the drawing can be extended to doubly-infinite curves that form an arrangement of pseudolines, that is, any pair of edges crosses precisely once. A special case are {\it rectilinear} drawings where the edges of the graph are drawn as straight line segments. The rectilinear (pseudolinear) crossing number of a graph is the minimum number of pairs of edges of the graph that cross in any of its rectilinear (pseudolinear) drawings. In this paper we describe an ongoing project to continuously obtain better asymptotic upper bounds on the rectilinear and pseudolinear crossing number of the complete graph $K_n$.

Let $\{p_1,\dots,p_n\}$ and $\{q_1,\dots,q_n\}$ be two sets of $n$ labeled points in general position in the plane. We say that these two point sets have the same order type if for every triple of indices $(i,j,k)$, $p_k$ is above the directed line from $p_i$ to $p_j$ if and only if $q_k$ is above the directed line from $q_i$ to $q_j$. In this paper we give the first non-trivial lower bounds on the number of different order types of $n$ points that can be realized in integer grids of polynomial

How to draw the vertices of a complete multipartite graph $G$ on different points of a bounded $d$-dimensional integer grid, such that the sum of squared distances between vertices of $G$ is (i) minimized or (ii) maximized? For both problems we provide a characterization of the solutions. For the particular case $d=1$, our solution for (i) also settles the minimum-2-sum problem for complete bipartite graphs; the minimum-2-sum problem was defined by Juvan and Mohar in 1992. Weighted centroidal Voronoi tessellations are the solution for (ii). Such drawings are related with Laplacian eigenvalues of graphs. This motivates us to study which properties of the algebraic connectivity of graphs carry over to the restricted setting of drawings of graphs with integer coordinates.
The exact chromatic number of the convex segment disjointness graph
Let $P$ be a set of $n$ points in strictly convex position in the plane. Let $D_n$ be the graph whose vertex set is the set of all line segments with endpoints in $P$, where disjoint segments are adjacent. The chromatic number of this graph was first studied by Araujo, Dumitrescu, Hurtado, Noy, and Urrutia [2005] and then by Dujmović and Wood [2007]. Improving on their estimates, we prove the following exact formula: $$χ(D_n) = n - \left\lfloor \sqrt{2n + \tfrac{1}{4}} - \tfrac{1}{2}\right\rfloor.$$

Let $P$ be a set of $n\geq 4$ points in general position in the plane. Consider all the closed straight line segments with both endpoints in $P$. Suppose that these segments are colored with the rule that disjoint segments receive different colors. In this paper we show that if $P$ is the point configuration known as the double chain, with $k$ points in the upper convex chain and $l \ge k$ points in the lower convex chain, then $k+l- \left\lfloor \sqrt{2l+\frac{1}{4}} - \frac{1}{2}\right\rfloor$ colors are needed and that this number is sufficient.

An edge-ordered graph is a graph with a total ordering of its edges. A path $P=v_1v_2\ldots v_k$ in an edge-ordered graph is called increasing if $(v_iv_{i+1}) > (v_{i+1}v_{i+2})$ for all $i = 1,\ldots,k-2$; it is called decreasing if $(v_iv_{i+1}) < (v_{i+1}v_{i+2})$ for all $i = 1,\ldots,k-2$. We say that $P$ is monotone if it is increasing or decreasing. A rooted tree $T$ in an edge-ordered graph is called monotone if either every path from the root of to a leaf is increasing or every path from the root to a leaf is decreasing.
Let $G$ be a graph. In a straight-line drawing $D$ of $G$, its vertices are drawn as different points in the plane and its edges are straight line segments. Let $\overlineα(G)$ be the maximum integer such that every edge-ordered straight-line drawing of $G$ %under any edge labeling contains a monotone non-crossing path of length $\overlineα(G)$. Let $\overlineτ(G)$ be the maximum integer such that every edge-ordered straight-line drawing of $G$ %under any edge labeling contains a monotone non-crossing complete binary tree of size $\overlineτ(G)$. In this paper we show that $\overline α(K_n) = Ω(\log\log n)$, $\overline α(K_n) = O(\log n)$, $\overline τ(K_n) = Ω(\log\log \log n)$ and $\overline τ(K_n) = O(\sqrt{n \log n})$.

In 1935, Erdős and Szekeres proved that every set of $n$ points in general position in the plane contains the vertices of a convex polygon of $\frac{1}{2}\log_2(n)$ vertices. In 1961, they constructed, for every positive integer $t$, a set of $n:=2^{t-2}$ points in general position in the plane, such that every convex polygon with vertices in this set has at most $\log_2(n)+1$ vertices. In this paper we show how to realize their construction in an integer grid of size $O(n^2 \log_2(n)^3)$.

Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph of order $n$ and let $1\leq k< n$ be an integer. The $k$-token graph of $G$ is the graph whose vertices are all the $k$-subsets of $V$, two of which are adjacent whenever their symmetric difference is a pair of adjacent vertices in $G$. In this paper we characterize precisely, for each value of $k$, which graphs have a regular $k$-token graph and which connected graphs have a planar $k$-token graph.
